A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) are in position.
   (2) On panel 400VU:
  • Make sure that the landing-gear control-lever 6GA is in the DOWN position
  • Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear.
   (3) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the brakes.
   (4) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are on the ground service connections to tell persons not to operate the Green and the Yellow hydraulic systems.
   (5) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear doors.
   (6) Make sure that the safety devices are on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).

B. Flight Configuration Precautions
   (1) If the electrical power is not necessary for other maintenance tasks, make sure that the aircraft electrical circuits are de-energized (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002). Then, it is not necessary to operate the LGCIU circuit breakers.
   (2) If electrical power is necessary, make sure that the precautions for flight configuration with electrical power are done (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-001) before you open the circuit breakers.

D. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) is in position adjacent to the MLG.
   (2) Make sure that the applicable MLG door is open (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
   (3) Make sure that the GROUND LOCK SLEEVE is on the applicable main gear door actuator (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-002).
   (4) Make sure that the Yellow and the Green hydraulic systems are depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001), (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002).
   (5) Make sure the applicable hydraulic reservoirs are depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
4. Procedure
Subtask 32-11-13-560-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Preparation of a Replacement Shock Absorber
   (1) Install the 1M and 2M system harnesses in the axle (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-43-400-003). Make sure that the cables are in the correct position.
   (2) Install the axle adaptor-sleeves (Ref. AMM TASK 32-42-71-400-001).
   (3) Install the tachometers (Ref. AMM TASK 32-42-57-400-001).
Subtask 32-11-13-560-050-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Preparation of a Replacement Shock Absorber
   (1) Install the 1M and 2M system harnesses in the axle (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-43-400-003). Make sure that the cables are in the correct position.
   (2) Install the axle adaptor-sleeves (Ref. AMM TASK 32-42-71-400-001).
   (3) Install the tachometers (Ref. AMM TASK 32-42-57-400-001).
   (4) Install the brake fan assemblies (Ref. AMM TASK 32-48-51-400-005).

B. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent areas with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
   (2) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
   (3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (4) If necessary, install the new MLG gland-seals (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-13-400-003).
   (5) Apply Mineral Hydraulic Fluid-Damper - - (Material No.02BBB9) or Mineral Hydraulic Fluid & Additives-Damper Shock Struts - (Material No.02CBB1) or Mineral Hydraulic Fluid & Additives-Damper Landing Gear - (Material No.02CCC1) to:
  • The new packings (40) and (50)
  • The new retainers (39) and (49)
  • The new O-ring seal (54)
  • The new backup-ring (55)
  • The new seals (36) and (37).
   (6) Install the new AIPC 32-11-13-02-150 SEAL (36) and the new AIPC 32-11-13-02-160 SEAL (37) on the shock absorber (1).
   (7) Install the new
AIPC 32-11-13-01-140 PREFORMED PACKING (50) and the new AIPC 32-11-13-01-150 BACKING RINGS (49) on the gland housing (51).
   (8) Install the new
AIPC 32-11-13-01-050 O-RING (40) and the new AIPC 32-11-13-01-060 BACKING RINGS (39) on the inflation valve assembly (41). Use the 460003180-24 RING-KEEP to get them back to their initial dimensions.
   (9) Install the new AIPC 32-11-13-01-015 PREFORMED PACKING (46) on the charging valve (45).
   (10) Install the new
AIPC 32-11-11-65-150 BACKING RING (55) and the new AIPC 32-11-11-65-140 O-RING (54) on the valve stem (56).
   (11) Apply a thin layer of Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.
06LDG2) to:
  • The washer (38)
  • The pin (30)
  • The collar (32)
  • The interface and the stem (area N) of the inflation valve assembly (41)
  • The external surface of the gland housing (51) (area M).
   (12) Apply Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) to the shanks and the threads of the retaining pins (48).
NOTE: For lubricant grease specification and lubrication requirements, (Ref. AMM D/O 12-22-00-00).
   (13) Apply a continuous bead of Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Quick Curing - (Material No.06ABF1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay Landing Gear (Material No.06AAC5) to the lower shoulder of the gland housing (51).
Subtask 32-11-13-420-054-E ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent areas with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
   (2) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
   (3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (4) If necessary, install the new MLG gland-seals (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-13-400-003).
   (5) Apply Mineral Hydraulic Fluid-Damper - - (Material No.02BBB9) or Mineral Hydraulic Fluid & Additives-Damper Shock Struts - (Material No.02CBB1) or Mineral Hydraulic Fluid & Additives-Damper Landing Gear - (Material No.02CCC1) to:
   (6) Install the new seals (36) and (37) on the shock absorber (1).
   (7) Install the new O-rings (50) and the new backing rings (49) on the gland housing (51).
   (8) Install the new O-ring (40) and the new backing rings (39) on the inflation valve assembly (41). Use the
460003180-24 RING-KEEP to get them back to their initial dimensions.
   (9) Install the new AIPC 32-11-13-01-015 PREFORMED PACKING (46) on the charging valve (45).
   (10) Install the new backing ring (55) and the new O-ring (54) the valve stem (56).
   (11) Apply a thin layer of Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.
06LDG2) to:
  • The washer (38)
  • The pin (30)
  • The collar (32)
  • The interface and the stem (area N) of the inflation valve assembly (41)
  • The external surface of the gland housing (51) (area M).
   (12) Apply Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) to the retaining pins (48).
NOTE: For lubricant grease specification and lubrication requirements, (Ref. AMM D/O 12-22-00-00).
   (13) Apply Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Hard Film - (Material No.12ACB1) to the shock-absorber main-fitting bore (area A).
F MLG Shock-Absorber Main-Fitting ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (14) Wait for 15 minutes and then clean the unwanted Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Hard Film - (Material No.12ACB1) from the shock-absorber main-fitting bore (area A) with Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
   (15) Apply a continuous bead of Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Quick Curing - (Material No.06ABF1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay Landing Gear (Material No.06AAC5) to the lower shoulder of the gland housing (51).

B. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent areas with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
   (2) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
   (3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (4) If necessary, install the new MLG gland-seals (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-13-400-003).
   (5) Apply Mineral Hydraulic Fluid-Damper - - (Material No.02BBB9) or Mineral Hydraulic Fluid & Additives-Damper Shock Struts - (Material No.02CBB1) or Mineral Hydraulic Fluid & Additives-Damper Landing Gear - (Material No.02CCC1) to:
  • The new O-rings (40), (50) and (54)
  • The new backing rings (39), (49) and (55)
  • The new seals (36) and (37).
   (6) Install the new AIPC 32-11-13-02-150 SEAL (36) and the new AIPC 32-11-13-02-160 SEAL (37) on the shock absorber (1).
   (7) Install the new
AIPC 32-11-13-01-140 PREFORMED PACKING (50) and the new AIPC 32-11-13-01-150 BACKING RINGS (49) on the gland housing (51).
   (8) Install the new
AIPC 32-11-13-01-050 O-RING (40) and the new AIPC 32-11-13-01-060 BACKING RINGS (39) on the inflation valve assembly (41). Use the 460003180-24 RING-KEEP to get them back to their initial dimensions.
   (9) Install the new AIPC 32-11-13-01-015 PREFORMED PACKING (46) on the charging valve (45).
   (10) Install the new
AIPC 32-11-11-65-150 BACKING RING (55) and the new AIPC 32-11-11-65-140 O-RING (54) on the valve stem (56).
   (11) Apply a thin layer of Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.
06LDG2) to:
  • The washer (38)
  • The pin (30)
  • The collar (32)
  • The interface and the stem (area N) of the inflation valve assembly (41)
  • The external surface of the gland housing (51) (area M).
   (12) Apply Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) to the retaining pins (48).
NOTE: For lubricant grease specification and lubrication requirements, (Ref. AMM D/O 12-22-00-00).
   (13) Apply a continuous bead of Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Quick Curing - (Material No.06ABF1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay Landing Gear (Material No.06AAC5) to the lower shoulder of the gland housing (51).

B. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent areas with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
   (2) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
   (3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.

   (6) Install the new seals (36) and (37) on the shock absorber (1).
   (7) Install the new preformed packing (50) and the new retainer packing (49) on the gland housing (51).
   (8) Install the new packing (40) and the new retainers (39) on the inflation valve assembly (41). Use the
460003180-24 RING-KEEP to get them back to their initial dimensions.
   (9) Install the new AIPC 32-11-13-01-015 PREFORMED PACKING (46) on the charging valve (45).
   (10) Install the new backup-ring (55) and the new O-ring seal (54) on the valve stem (56).
   (11) Apply a thin layer of Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.
06LDG2) to:
  • The washer (38)
  • The pin (30)
  • The collar (32)
  • The interface and the stem (area N) of the inflation valve assembly (41)
  • The external surface of the gland housing (51) (area M).
   (12) Apply Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) to the shanks and the threads of the retaining pins (48).
NOTE: For lubricant grease specification and lubrication requirements, (Ref. AMM D/O 12-22-00-00).
   (13) Apply Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Hard Film - (Material No.12ACB1) to the shock-absorber main-fitting bore (area A).

   (14) Wait for 15 minutes and then clean the unwanted Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Hard Film - (Material No.12ACB1) from the shock-absorber main-fitting bore (area A) with Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
   (15) Apply a continuous bead of Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Quick Curing - (Material No.06ABF1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay Landing Gear (Material No.06AAC5) to the lower shoulder of the gland housing (51).

     (a) Use the 460006211 LIFTING-TACKLE to lift the shock absorber (1) from the 460006212 TROLLEY-BUILD.
     (b) Put the shock absorber (1) in position on the FORKLIFT 1000KG (2200 LB), LIFT ANGLE +10 TO -10 DEG.
     (c) Put the FORKLIFT 1000KG (2200 LB), LIFT ANGLE +10 TO -10 DEG below the MLG main fitting.
     (d) Adjust the lift angle of the FORKLIFT 1000KG (2200 LB), LIFT ANGLE +10 TO -10 DEG until you can lift the shock absorber (1) along the centerline of the MLG main fitting.
     (e) Install the shock absorber (1) fully in the MLG leg.
   (2) Install the gland housing (51) as follows:
     (a) Install the gland housing (51) in the MLG leg. Use the 460006465 SPANNER-PEG to align the holes in the gland housing (51) with the holes in the MLG leg.
     (b) Install the new AIPC 32-11-11-60-050 CUP WASHERS (47).
     (c) Install the retaining pins (48).
     (d) Make a fillet of Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Quick Curing - (Material No.
06ABF1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay Landing Gear (Material No.06AAC5) between the gland housing (51) and the MLG main fitting.
       1 Use only the sealants that came out when the gland housing (51) was installed. Do not apply more sealant to make the fillet.
     (e) In the steps that follow, make sure that you torque and loosen the retaining pins (48) one at a time:
       1 TORQUE the retaining pins (48) to between 10.0 and 9.5 m.daN (73.75 and 70.06 lbf.ft ) T.
       2 Loosen the retaining pins (48).
       3 TORQUE the retaining pins (48) to between 10.0 and 9.5 m.daN (73.75 and 70.06 lbf.ft )
T.
       4 Do steps 2 and 3 two more times.
     (f) Safety the retaining pins (48) with the cup washers (47).
     (g) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.
06AAC1) around the sides of the retaining pins (48) and the new cup washers (47). Do not put sealant on the greasers and the identification washers of the retaining pins (48).
     (h) Install the washer (38) and the pin (30). Make sure that the cut-away on the pin (30) is at the top and aligns with the anti-rotation pin.
     (i) Install the collar (32), the bolt (31), the washer (33) and the nut (34).
     (j) TORQUE the nut (34) to between 0.73 and 0.63 m.daN (64.60 and 55.75 lbf.in ) T.
     (k) Safety the nut (34) with the new
AIPC 32-11-13-01-070 COTTER PIN (35).
   (3) Install the top charging-valve assembly as follows:
     (a) Remove the FORKLIFT 1000KG (2200 LB), LIFT ANGLE +10 TO -10 DEG from the shock absorber (1) and carefully let the shock absorber (1) extend fully.
     (b) Carefully put the inflation valve assembly (41) in position and install the spacers (42) and the bolts (43).
     (c) TORQUE the bolts (43) to between 1.8 and 1.5 m.daN (13.27 and 11.06 lbf.ft )

     (d) Install the top charging valve (45) on the inflation valve assembly (41).
     (e) TORQUE the top charging valve (45) to between 1.58 and 1.13 m.daN (139.82 and 100.00 lbf.in )

     (f) Safety the bolts (43) and the top charging valve (45) together with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
   (4) Install the spare-seal activating-valve assembly as follows:
     (a) Install the valve stem (56) in the housing (52).
     (b) Install the pin (58) and the washers (57).
     (c) Safety the pin (58) with the new
AIPC 32-11-11-65-100 COTTER PINS (53).
     (d) Safety the valve stem (56) with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
   (5) Install the lower torque link (3) as follows:
     (a) Release the lower torque link (3) together with:
  • The fitting (9)
  • The electrical harness (14)
  • The flexible hydraulic lines (13).
     (b) Install the spacers (4) and put the lower torque link (3) and the fitting (9) in position.
     (c) Use the
460006226 BULLET-ALIGNMENT to install the pin (2).
     (d) Install the bolt (5), the washer(s) (6) and the nut (7).
NOTE: You can use a maximum of two washers (6) below the nut (7).
     (e) TORQUE the nut (7) to between 2.7 and 2.1 m.daN (19.91 and 15.49 lbf.ft ) T.
     (f) Safety the nut (7) with the new
AIPC 32-11-11-52-110 COTTER PIN (8).
     (g) Put the lock plate (10) in position then install the new
AIPC 32-11-11-52-240 TAB-WASHER (11) and the bolts (12).
     (h) TORQUE the bolts (12) to between 1.8 and 1.5 m.daN (13.27 and 11.06 lbf.ft )

     (i) Safety the bolts (12) with the tab-washers (11).
   (6) Install the lower slave-link assembly as follows:
     (a) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Quick Curing - (Material No.
06ABF1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay Landing Gear (Material No.06AAC5) to the interface of the fitting (20) and the shock absorber (1).
     (b) Apply a thin layer of Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) to:
  • The bottom of each bolt head (15)
  • The washers (17).
     (c) Release the lower slave link (21) together with:
  • The fitting (20)
  • The electrical harness (23)
  • The flexible hydraulic lines (22).
     (d) Put the lower slave link (21) and the fitting (20) in position and install the bolts (15).
     (e) Install the sleeves (16), the washers (17) and the nuts (18).
NOTE: You can use a maximum of three washers (17) below each nut (18).
     (f) TORQUE the nuts (18) to between 1.0 and 0.8 m.daN (88.50 and 70.80 lbf.in ) T.
     (g) Safety the nuts (18) with the new
AIPC 32-11-11-84-075 COTTER PINS (19).
   (7) TORQUE the bottom charging valve (59) to between 1.58 and 1.13 m.daN (139.82 and 100.00 lbf.in )

   (8) Install the 1M system harness as follows:
     (a) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
     (b) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
     (c) Install the electrical connector (83) at the axle interface.
   (9) Install the 2M system harness as follows:
     (a) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
     (b) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
     (c) Install the electrical connector (87) at the axle interface (
Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-43-400-003).
   (10) Clean the nuts and bolts that you installed with a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) and Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
   (11) Apply a layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Quick Curing - (Material No.06ABF1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay Landing Gear (Material No.06AAC5) to the nuts and bolts that you installed and the areas around them. Make sure that the drain hole below the collar (32) is clear.
   (12) Install the MLG brakes (Ref. AMM TASK 32-42-27-400-001).
   (13) Install the MLG wheels (Ref. AMM TASK 32-41-11-400-006).
   (14) Fill and charge the MLG shock absorber (Ref. AMM TASK 12-12-32-611-008).

     (a) Install the gland housing (51) in the MLG leg. Use the 460006465 SPANNER-PEG to align the holes in the gland housing (51) with the holes in the MLG leg.
     (b) Install the new AIPC 32-11-11-60-050 CUP WASHERS (47).
     (c) Install the retaining pins (48).

     (b) Apply a thin layer of Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) to:
  • The bottom of each bolt head (15)
  • The washers (17).
     (c) Release the lower slave link (21) together with:
  • The fitting (20)
  • The electrical harness (23)
  • The flexible hydraulic lines (22).
     (d) Put the lower slave link (21) and the fitting (20) in position and install the bolts (15).
     (e) Install the sleeves (16), the washers (17) and the nuts (18).

Make sure that the drain hole below the collar (32) is clear.
   (12) Install the MLG brakes (Ref. AMM TASK 32-42-27-400-001).
   (13) Install the MLG wheels (Ref. AMM TASK 32-41-11-400-006).
   (14) Fill and charge the MLG shock absorber (Ref. AMM TASK 12-12-32-611-008).

     (a) Use the 460006211 LIFTING-TACKLE to lift the shock absorber (1) from the 460007240 TROLLEY-BUILD.
     (b) Put the shock absorber (1) in position on the FORKLIFT 1000KG (2200 LB), LIFT ANGLE +10 TO -10 DEG.
     (c) Put the FORKLIFT 1000KG (2200 LB), LIFT ANGLE +10 TO -10 DEG below the MLG main fitting.
     (d) Adjust the lift angle of the FORKLIFT 1000KG (2200 LB), LIFT ANGLE +10 TO -10 DEG until you can lift the shock absorber (1) along the centerline of the MLG main fitting.
     (e) Install the shock absorber (1) fully in the MLG leg.
   (2) Install the gland housing (50) as follows:
     (a) Install the gland housing (50) in the MLG leg. Use the 460006465 SPANNER-PEG to align the holes in the gland housing (50) with the holes in the MLG leg.
     (b) Install the new AIPC 32-11-85-60-050 TAB WASHERS (47).
     (c) Install the retaining pins (46).
     (d) Make a fillet of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay Landing Gear (Material No.
06AAC5) or Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Quick Curing - (Material No.06ABF1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) between the gland housing (50) and the MLG main fitting.
       1 Use only the sealants that came out when the gland housing (50) was installed. Do not apply more sealant to make the fillet.
     (e) In the steps that follow, make sure that you torque and loosen the retaining pins (46) one at a time:
       1 TORQUE the retaining pins (46) to between 100 and 95 m.N (73.75 and 70.06 lbf.ft ) T .
       2 Loosen the retaining pins (46).
       3 Do steps (e) 1_ and 2_ three more times.
       4 TORQUE the retaining pins (46) to between 100 and 95 m.N (73.75 and 70.06 lbf.ft )
T.
     (f) Safety the retaining pins (46) with the tab washers (47).
     (g) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay Landing Gear (Material No.
06AAC5) or Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Quick Curing - (Material No.06ABF1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) around the sides of the retaining pins (46) and the tab washers (47). Do not put sealant on the greasers and the identification washers of the retaining pins (46).
     (h) Install the washer (38) and the pin (30). Make sure that the cut-away on the pin (30) is at the top and aligns with the anti-rotation pin.
     (i) Install the collar (33), the washer (32), the bolt (31), the washer (34) and the new nut (35).
     (j) TORQUE the nut (35) to between 7.3 and 6.3 m.N (64.60 and 55.75 lbf.in ) T.
     (k) Safety the nut (35) with the new
AIPC 32-11-85-61-070 COTTER PIN (36).
   (3) Install the top charging-valve assembly as follows:
     (a) Remove the FORKLIFT 1000KG (2200 LB), LIFT ANGLE +10 TO -10 DEG from the shock absorber (1) and carefully let the shock absorber (1) extend fully.
     (b) Carefully put the inflation valve assembly (41) in position and install the spacers (45) and the bolts (44).
     (c) TORQUE the bolts (44) to between 18 and 16 m.N (13.27 and 11.80 lbf.ft )
T.
     (d) Install the charging valve (42) on the inflation valve assembly (41).
     (e) TORQUE the body of the charging valve (42) to between 12.5 and 10.0 m.N (110.62 and 88.50 lbf.in )
T.
     (f) TORQUE the nut of the charging valve (42) to between 7.9 and 5.7 m.N (69.91 and 50.44 lbf.in )
T.
     (g) Safety the bolts (44) and the charging valve (42) together with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
   (4) Install the spare-seal activating-valve assembly as follows:
     (a) Install the valve stem (53) in the housing (54).
     (b) Install the pin (57) and the washers (56).
     (c) Safety the pin (57) with the new
AIPC 32-11-85-65-100 COTTER PINS (55).
   (5) Connect the top and bottom torque links (
Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-27-400-001).
   (6) Install the lower slave-link assembly as follows:
     (a) Release the lower slave link (21) together with:
  • The fitting (20)
  • The electrical harness (23)
  • The flexible hydraulic lines (22).
     (b) Put the lower slave link (21) and the fitting (20) in position and install the bolts (15).
     (c) Install the sleeves (16), the washers (17) and the nuts (18).
     (d) TORQUE the nuts (18) to between 10 and 8 m.N (88.50 and 70.80 lbf.in ) T.
     (e) Safety the nuts (18) with the new
AIPC 32-11-85-84-075 COTTER PINS (19).
   (7) TORQUE the body of the bottom charging valve (58) to between 12.5 and 10.0 m.N (110.62 and 88.50 lbf.in )
T.
   (8) TORQUE the nut of the bottom charging valve (58) to between 7.9 and 5.7 m.N (69.91 and 50.44 lbf.in )
T.
   (9) Safety the bottom charging valve (58) with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
   (10) Install the 1M system harness as follows:
     (a) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
     (b) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
     (c) Install the electrical connector (83) at the axle interface.
   (11) Install the 2M system harness as follows:
     (a) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
     (b) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
     (c) Install the electrical connector (87) at the axle interface (
Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-43-400-003).
   (12) Clean the nuts and bolts that you installed with a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) and Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - (Material No.08BBB1) .
   (13) Apply a layer of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay Landing Gear (Material No.06AAC5) or Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Quick Curing - (Material No.06ABF1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) to the nuts and bolts that you installed and the areas around them. Make sure that the drain hole below the collar (33) is clear.
   (14) Install the MLG brakes (Ref. AMM TASK 32-42-27-400-001).
   (15) Install the MLG wheels (Ref. AMM TASK 32-41-11-400-006).
   (16) Fill and charge the MLG shock absorber (Ref. AMM TASK 12-12-32-611-008).

C. Installation of the MLG Shock Absorber Assembly
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL THE MLG SHOCK-ABSORBER. ITS WEIGHT CAN BE AS MUCH AS 118kg (260lb).
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
   (1) Install the shock absorber (1) fully in the MLG leg as follows:
     (a) Use the 460006211 LIFTING-TACKLE to lift the shock absorber (1) from the 460006212 TROLLEY-BUILD.
     (b) Put the shock absorber (1) in position on the FORKLIFT 1000KG (2200 LB), LIFT ANGLE +10 TO -10 DEG.
     (c) Put the FORKLIFT 1000KG (2200 LB), LIFT ANGLE +10 TO -10 DEG below the MLG main fitting.
     (d) Adjust the lift angle of the FORKLIFT 1000KG (2200 LB), LIFT ANGLE +10 TO -10 DEG until you can lift the shock absorber (1) along the centerline of the MLG main fitting.
     (e) Install the shock absorber (1) fully in the MLG leg.
   (2) Install the gland housing (50) as follows:
     (a) Install the gland housing (50) in the MLG leg. Use the 460006465 SPANNER-PEG to align the holes in the gland housing (50) with the holes in the MLG leg.
     (b) Install the new AIPC 32-11-85-60-050 TAB WASHERS (47).
     (c) Install the retaining pins (46).
     (d) Make a fillet of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay Landing Gear (Material No.
06AAC5) or Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Quick Curing - (Material No.06ABF1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) between the gland housing (50) and the MLG main fitting.
       1 Use only the sealants that came out when the gland housing (50) was installed. Do not apply more sealant to make the fillet.
     (e) In the steps that follow, make sure that you torque and loosen the retaining pins (46) one at a time:
       1 TORQUE the retaining pins (46) to between 100 and 95 m.N (73.75 and 70.06 lbf.ft ) T.
       2 Loosen the retaining pins (46).
       3 Do the above steps (e) 1 and 2 three more times.
       4 TORQUE the retaining pins (46) to between 100 and 95 m.N (73.75 and 70.06 lbf.ft )

     (f) Safety the retaining pins (46) with the tab washers (47).
     (g) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay Landing Gear (Material No.
06AAC5) or Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Quick Curing - (Material No.06ABF1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) around the sides of the retaining pins (46) and the new tab washers (47). Do not put sealant on the greasers and the identification washers of the retaining pins (46).
     (h) Install the washer (38) and the pin (30). Make sure that the cut-away on the pin (30) is at the top and aligns with the anti-rotation pin.
     (i) Install the collar (32), the bolt (31), the washers (33) and the nut (34).
     (j) TORQUE the nut (34) to between 7.3 and 6.3 m.N (64.60 and 55.75 lbf.in ) T.
     (k) Safety the nut (34) with the new
AIPC 32-11-85-61-070 COTTER PIN (35).
   (3) Install the top charging-valve assembly as follows:
     (a) Remove the FORKLIFT 1000KG (2200 LB), LIFT ANGLE +10 TO -10 DEG from the shock absorber (1) and carefully let the shock absorber (1) extend fully.
     (b) Carefully put the inflation valve assembly (41) in position and install the spacers (45) and the bolts (44).
     (c) TORQUE the bolts (44) to between 18 and 16 m.N (13.27 and 11.80 lbf.ft )

     (d) Install the top charging valve (42) on the inflation valve assembly (41).
     (e) TORQUE the body of the top charging valve (42) to between 12.5 and 10.0 m.N (110.62 and 88.50 lbf.in )

     (f) TORQUE the nut of the top charging valve (42) to between 7.9 and 5.7 m.N (69.91 and 50.44 lbf.in )

     (g) Safety the bolts (44) and the top charging valve (42) together with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
   (4) Install the spare-seal activating-valve assembly as follows:
     (a) Install the valve stem (53) and the pin (57) in the housing (54).
       1 Make sure that you can see the green band of the stem (53) through the housing (54).
     (b) Safety the valve stem (53) with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
       1 Make sure that you can see the green band of the stem (53) through the housing (54).
     (c) Install the washers (56) on the pin (57).
     (d) Safety the pin (57) with the new
AIPC 32-11-85-65-100 COTTER PINS (55).
     (e) Make a fillet of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay Landing Gear (Material No.
06AAC5) or Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Quick Curing - (Material No.06ABF1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) between the pin (57) and the washers (56).
   (5) Install the lower torque link (3) as follows:
     (a) Release the lower torque link (3) together with:
  • The fitting (9)
  • The electrical harness (14)
  • The flexible hydraulic lines (13).
     (b) Install the spacers (4) and put the lower torque link (3) and the fitting (9) in position.
     (c) Use the 460006226 BULLET-ALIGNMENT to install the pin (2).
     (d) Install the bolt (5), the washer(s) (6) and the nut (7).
NOTE: You can use a maximum of two washers (6) below the nut (7).
     (e) TORQUE the nut (7) to between 27 and 21 m.N (19.91 and 15.49 lbf.ft ) T.
     (f) Safety the nut (7) with the new
AIPC 32-11-85-52-110 COTTER PIN (8).
     (g) Put the wedge (10) in position and install the new
AIPC 32-11-85-52-240 TAB WASHERS (11) and the bolts (12).
     (h) TORQUE the bolts (12) to between 18 and 16 m.N (13.27 and 11.80 lbf.ft )
T.
     (i) Safety the bolts (12) with the tab washers (11).
   (6) Install the lower slave-link assembly as follows:
     (a) Release the lower slave link (21) together with:
  • The fitting (20)
  • The electrical harness (23)
  • The flexible hydraulic lines (22).
     (b) Put the lower slave link (21) and the fitting (20) in position and install the bolts (15).
     (c) Install the sleeves (16), the washers (17) and the nuts (18).
     (d) TORQUE the nuts (18) to between 10 and 8 m.N (88.50 and 70.80 lbf.in )
T.
     (e) Safety the nuts (18) with the new
AIPC 32-11-85-84-075 COTTER PINS (19).
   (7) TORQUE the body of the bottom charging valve (58) to between 12.5 and 10.0 m.N (110.62 and 88.50 lbf.in )

   (8) TORQUE the nut of the bottom charging valve (58) to between 7.9 and 5.7 m.N (69.91 and 50.44 lbf.in )

   (10) Install the 1M system harness as follows:

   (11) Install the 2M system harness as follows:
     (a) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
     (b) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
     (c) Install the electrical connector (87) at the axle interface (
Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-43-400-003).
   (12) Clean the nuts and bolts that you installed with a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) and Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - (Material No.08BBB1) .
   (13) Apply a layer of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay Landing Gear (Material No.06AAC5) or Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Quick Curing - (Material No.06ABF1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) to the nuts and bolts that you installed and the areas around them. Make sure that the drain hole below the collar (32) is clear.
   (14) Install the MLG brakes (Ref. AMM TASK 32-42-27-400-001).
   (15) Install the MLG wheels (Ref. AMM TASK 32-41-11-400-006).
   (16) Fill and charge the MLG shock absorber (Ref. AMM TASK 12-12-32-611-008).
