Depressurization of the Hydraulic Reservoirs
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE PNEUMATIC SYSTEM IS DEPRESSURIZED BEFORE YOU START WORK. PRESSURIZED AIR CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL.
1. Reason for the JobTo depressurize the hydraulic reservoirs for maintenance.
NOTE: You can depressurize each hydraulic reservoir independently.
NOTE: Two procedures are available to depressurize the hydraulic reservoirs, one procedure uses ground equipment, the other does not. Do one of the two procedures.
2. Job Set-up InformationA. Fixtures, Tools, Test and Support Equipment

A. Depressurization with Ground Equipment
(1) Put a container in position to collect any fluid which may come out of the depressurization valve.
(2) Remove the depressurization valve-cap assembly from the depressurization valve and connect the 97A29102062000 CONNECTOR - DEPRESSURIZING, HYDRAULIC RESERVOIR.
(3) Listen to hear if all of the air has been released.
Subtask 29-14-00-614-053-A (1) Put a container in position to collect any fluid which may come out of the depressurization valve.
(2) Remove the depressurization valve-cap assembly from the depressurization valve and connect the 97A29102062000 CONNECTOR - DEPRESSURIZING, HYDRAULIC RESERVOIR.
(3) Listen to hear if all of the air has been released.
NOTE: Keep the depressurization equipment connected if it is necessary to depressurize a reservoir for a maintenance operation. This prevents accidental pressurization of the reservoir. The depressurization equipment is removed when the maintenance operation is completed.
B. Depressurization without Ground Equipment
(2) Hold the cap in the OPEN position. Do this until the applicable reservoir is depressurized.
(3) Make sure that there is no pressure indication on the gage of the applicable reservoir.
5. Close-upWARNING:
DO THE MAINTENANCE TASK IMMEDIATELY AFTER YOU DEPRESSURIZE THE RESERVOIR.
IF THE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE INCREASES BETWEEN THE TIME YOU DEPRESSURIZE THE RESERVOIR AND THE TIME YOU DO THE WORK:
- THE PRESSURE OF THE AIR IN THE RESERVOIR WILL INCREASE AGAIN,
- THERE IS RISK OF INJURY WHEN YOU OPEN THE SYSTEM.
WARNING:
PROTECT YOUR HANDS AND FACE FROM THE GAS WHICH COMES OUT WHEN YOU OPEN THE MANUAL DEPRESSURIZATION VALVE OF THE RESERVOIRS. IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THE GAS IS HOT AND CONTAINS HYDRAULIC FLUID.
(1) On the applicable ground service panel, turn the cap assembly of the reservoir depressurization valve (1087GM, 2087GM or 3087GM) clockwise through 90 degrees. (2) Hold the cap in the OPEN position. Do this until the applicable reservoir is depressurized.
(3) Make sure that there is no pressure indication on the gage of the applicable reservoir.

A. Put the system back to the serviceable condition.
(1) Remove the 97A29102062000 CONNECTOR - DEPRESSURIZING, HYDRAULIC RESERVOIR and connect the depressurization valve-cap assembly to the depressurization valve.
(2) Turn the depressurization valve to CLOSED position.
(3) Remove the container from below the depressurization valve.
