Functional Test of the Tachometers and the Anti-Skid System with the Normal Braking System ON

TASK 32-42-00-720-002-A
Functional Test of the Tachometers and the Anti-Skid System with the Normal Braking System ON

1. Reason for the Job
To make sure that:
  • The two tachometers on each Main Landing Gear (MLG) operate correctly after their removal/installation.
  • The anti-skid function operates correctly. If you replace only one tachometer for each landing gear, it is only necessary to do the functional test of the tachometers with AIDS (Ref. AMM TASK 32-42-00-720-00300).

B. Test
   (1) Test of the Tachometers on the left MLG (wheels 1 and 2)

ACTION
RESULT
1.On the Captain or First Officer side:
  • push the brake pedals.
On the left MLG, all the brakes are applied:
  • the brake pistons extend,
  • the wear pins move in relation to the pistons,
  • the piston housings move in the opposite direction.
2.On the two DRIVING TOOLS/ADAPTORS:
  • set a wheel speed of between 900 and 1100 rpm.
On the left MLG wheel without the DRIVING TOOL/ADAPTOR, the brake is released:
  • the brake pistons retract (gap between the head of the pistons and the pressure plate),
  • the wear pins move in relation to the pistons,
  • the piston housings move in the opposite direction.
3.On the DRIVING TOOL/ADAPTOR connected to the left MLG wheel:
  • decrease the speed to zero.
On this wheel, the brake is released:
  • the brake pistons retract,
  • the wear pins move in relation to the pistons,
  • the piston housings move in the opposite direction.
4.Release the brake pedals.
On the left MLG:
  • all the brakes are released.
5.On the DRIVING TOOL/ADAPTOR connected to the wheel of the opposite landing gear (right side):
  • decrease the speed to zero.
NOTE: the reference speed in the computer is zero 20 seconds after the end of the test.

6.Do the steps 1 to 6 with the DRIVING TOOL/ADAPTOR connected to the other tachometer on the left MLG.
