3. Job Set-up
Subtask 32-11-27-941-054-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) are in position.
   (2) Make sure that the ground safety locks are installed on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
   (3) On the panel 400VU:
  • make sure that the landing-gear control-lever is in the DOWN position
  • make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear.
   (4) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate the brakes.
   (5) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to pressurize the hydraulic systems.
Subtask 32-11-27-860-052-A
B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the applicable MLG axle has been lifted (Ref. AMM TASK 07-12-00-582-002) or that the aircraft is lifted on jacks (Ref. AMM TASK 07-11-00-581-001).
   (2) Make sure that the electrical harnesses have been released from the torque link clamps (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-43-000-001).
   (3) If necessary, make sure that the 2M electrical harness has been released from the MLG axle for access (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-43-000-003).
   (4) Make sure that the hydraulic dressings have been released from the torque link clamps (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-12-000-001).
   (5) Make sure that the brakes (Ref. AMM TASK 32-42-27-000-001) and the wheels (Ref. AMM TASK 32-41-11-000-006) have been removed.
   (6) Make sure that the Yellow and Green Hydraulic systems have been depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
   (7) Make sure that the Yellow and the Green Hydraulic reservoirs have been depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
4. Procedure
Subtask 32-11-27-420-054-A
A. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
   (2) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
   (3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
Subtask 32-11-27-420-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Installation of the MLG Torque Links
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
   (1) Apply a thin layer of Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) to the interfaces of:
  • The pin assemblies (19) and (21)
  • The bushes of the torque links (18) and (20)
  • The bushes of the fixed and sliding members.
NOTE: For lubricant grease specification and lubrication requirements, refer to (Ref. AMM D/O 12-22-00-00).
   (2) Apply a thin layer of Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) to the bolts, the nuts and the washers before you install them.
   (3) Install the bottom torque link (18) as follows:
     (a) Put the bottom torque link (18) in position.
     (b) Install the spacers (17) on each side of the MLG fitting.
     (c) Use the 460006226 BULLET-ALIGNMENT to install the pin assembly (19).
     (d) Use the 460006227 PIN-ALIGNMENT to align the holes for the bolt (12).
     (e) At the connection of the bottom torque link assembly (18) to the main leg, measure the clearance at the spacers (17) (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-27-200-001).
     (f) Install the bolt (12), the washer(s) (16) and the nut (15).
     (g) TORQUE the nut (15) to between 2.7 and 2.1 m.daN (19.91 and 15.49 lbf.ft ) T.
NOTE: You must tighten the nut (15) no more than 2.7 m.daN (19.91 lbf.ft) to align the cotter pin hole.
     (h) Safety the nut (15) with the new
AIPC 32-11-11-52-110 COTTER PIN (14).
     (i) Install the wedge (11) with the new
AIPC 32-11-11-52-240 TAB WASHERS (10) and the bolts (9).
     (j) TORQUE the bolts (9) to between 1.8 and 1.6 m.daN (13.27 and 11.80 lbf.ft )
T.
     (k) Safety the bolts (9) with the tab washers (10).
   (4) Install the top torque link (20) as follows:
     (a) Install the spacers (22) on each side of the MLG fitting.
     (b) Put the top torque link (20) and the bracket (1) in position.
     (c) Use the
460006226 BULLET-ALIGNMENT to install the pin assembly (21).
       1 Make sure that the lubrication shaft assembly is installed in the pin assembly (21) CMM 321225.
     (d) Use the 460006227 PIN-ALIGNMENT to align the holes for the bolt (2).
     (e) At the connection of the top torque link assembly (20) to the main leg, measure the clearance at the spacers (22) (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-27-200-001).
     (f) Install the bolt (2), the washer(s) (6) and the nut (8).
NOTE: You can use a maximum of three washers (6) to align the hole for the cotter pin (7).
     (g) TORQUE the nut (8) to between 3.6 and 3.0 m.daN (26.55 and 22.12 lbf.ft ) T.
     (h) Safety the nut (8) with the new
AIPC 32-11-11-52-050 COTTER PIN (7).
     (i) Install the wedge (5) with the new
AIPC 32-11-11-52-390 TAB WASHERS (4) and the bolts (3).
     (j) TORQUE the bolts (3) to between 1.8 and 1.6 m.daN (13.27 and 11.80 lbf.ft )
T.
     (k) Safety the bolts (3) with the tab washers (4).
   (5) Install the torque link damper (
Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-29-400-001).
   (6) Install the applicable proximity sensor 23GA (22GA) (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-73-400-001).
   (7) Use clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean:
  • The heads of the bolts (2), (3), (9) and (12)
  • The shank of the bolt (12)
  • The ends of the bolts (2) and (12), the nuts (8) and (15) and the washers (6) and (16)
  • The tab washer (10)
  • The joints between the bracket (1) and the MLG sliding tube.
   (8) Apply a layer (or bead) of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay Landing Gear (Material No.06AAC5) to:
  • The heads of the bolts (2), (3), (9) and (12)
  • The shank of the bolt (12)
  • The ends of the bolts (2) and (12), the nuts (8) and (15) and the washers (6) and (16)
  • The tab washer (10)
  • The joints between the bracket (1) and the MLG sliding tube.
Subtask 32-11-27-420-052-F ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Installation of the MLG Torque Links
   (1) Apply Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) to the external diameter of the pins (19) and (21).
   (2) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Hydraulic (Material No.06LDG6) to:
  • The shank and threads of the bolts (2), (3), (9) and (12)
  • All the mating faces of the nut (8), the washers (6) and the pin (21).
   (3) Install the bottom torque link (18) as follows:
     (a) Put the bottom torque link (18) in position.
     (b) Install the spacers (17) on each side of the MLG fitting.
     (c) Use the 460006226 BULLET-ALIGNMENT to install the pin assembly (19).
     (d) Use the 460006227 PIN-ALIGNMENT to align the holes for the bolt (12).
     (e) At the connection of the bottom torque link assembly (18) to the main leg, measure the clearance at the spacers (17) (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-27-200-001).
     (f) Install the bolt (12), the washer (16) and the nut (15).
     (g) TORQUE the nut (15) to between 2.7 and 2.1 m.daN (19.91 and 15.49 lbf.ft ) T.
NOTE: Tighten the nut (15) no more than 2.7 m.daN (19.91 lbf.ft) to align the cotter pin hole.
     (h) Safety the nut (15) with the new
AIPC 32-11-11-52-110 COTTER PIN (14) or AIPC 32-11-85-52-110 COTTER PIN (14).
     (i) Install the wedge (11) with the new
AIPC 32-11-11-52-240 TAB WASHERS (10) or AIPC 32-11-85-52-240 TAB WASHERS (10) and the bolts (9).
     (j) TORQUE the bolts (9) to between 1.8 and 1.6 m.daN (13.27 and 11.80 lbf.ft )
T.
     (k) Safety the bolts (9) with the tab washers (10).
   (4) Install the top torque link (20) as follows:
     (a) Install the spacers (22) on each side of the MLG fitting.
     (b) Put the top torque link (20) and the bracket (1) in position.
     (c) Use the
460006226 BULLET-ALIGNMENT to install the pin assembly (21). Make sure that the lubrication shaft assembly is installed in the pin (21) CMM 321282.
     (d) Use the 460006227 PIN-ALIGNMENT to align the holes for the bolt (2).
     (e) At the connection of the top torque link assembly (20) to the main leg, measure the clearance at the spacers (22) (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-27-200-001).
     (f) Install the bolt (2), the washers (6) and the nut (8).
     (g) TORQUE the nut (8) to between 3.6 and 3.0 m.daN (26.55 and 22.12 lbf.ft ) T.
     (h) Safety the nut (8) with the new
AIPC 32-11-11-52-050 COTTER PIN (7) or AIPC 32-11-85-52-050 COTTER PIN (7).
     (i) Install the wedge (5) with the new
AIPC 32-11-11-52-390 TAB WASHERS (4) or AIPC 32-11-85-52-390 TAB WASHERS (4) and the bolts (3).
     (j) TORQUE the bolts (3) to between 1.8 and 1.6 m.daN (13.27 and 11.80 lbf.ft )
T.
     (k) Safety the bolts (3) with the tab washers (4).
   (5) Install the torque link damper (
Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-29-400-001).
   (6) Install the applicable proximity sensor 23GA(22GA) (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-73-400-001).
   (7) Use a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - (Material No.08BBB1) to clean:
  • The heads of the bolts (2), (3), (9) and (12)
  • The nut (15)
  • The washer (16)
  • The area around the ends of the wedges (5) and (11)
  • The area around the brackets (1) and (13).
   (8) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay Landing Gear (Material No.06AAC5) to:
  • The heads of the bolts (2), (3), (9) and (12)
  • The nut (15)
  • The washer (16)
  • The area around the ends of the wedges (5) and (11)
  • The area around the brackets (1) and (13).
Subtask 32-11-27-420-052-G ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Installation of the MLG Torque Links
   (1) Apply Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) to the external diameter of the pins (19) and (21).
   (2) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Hydraulic (Material No.06LDG6) to:
  • The shank and threads of the bolts (2), (3), (9) and (12)
  • All the mating faces of the nut (8), the washers (6) and the pin (21).
   (3) Install the bottom torque link (18) as follows:
     (a) Put the bottom torque link (18) in position.
     (b) Install the spacers (17) on each side of the MLG fitting.
     (c) Use the 460007229 ADAPTER - TORQUE to install the pin assembly (19).
     (d) Use the 460006227 PIN-ALIGNMENT to align the holes for the bolt (12).
     (e) Measure the clearance at the spacers (17) at the connection of the bottom torque link assembly (18) to the main leg (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-27-200-001).
     (f) Install the bolt (12), the washer (16) and the nut (15).
     (g) TORQUE the nut (15) to between 2.7 and 2.1 m.daN (19.91 and 15.49 lbf.ft ) T.
NOTE: Tighten the nut (15) no more than 2.7 m.daN (19.91 lbf.ft) to align the cotter pin hole.
     (h) Safety the nut (15) with the new
AIPC 32-11-11-52-110 COTTER PIN (14) or AIPC 32-11-85-52-110 COTTER PIN (14).
     (i) Install the wedge (11) with the new
AIPC 32-11-11-52-240 TAB WASHERS (10) or AIPC 32-11-85-52-240 TAB WASHERS (10) and the bolts (9).
     (j) TORQUE the bolts (9) to between 1.8 and 1.6 m.daN (13.27 and 11.80 lbf.ft )
T.
     (k) Safety the bolts (9) with the tab washers (10).
   (4) Install the top torque link (20) as follows:
     (a) Install the spacers (22) on each side of the MLG fitting.
     (b) Put the top torque link (20) and the bracket (1) in position.
     (c) Use the
460007229 ADAPTER - TORQUE to install the pin assembly (21). Make sure that the lubrication shaft assembly is installed in the pin (21) CMM 321289.
     (d) Use the 460006227 PIN-ALIGNMENT to align the holes for the bolt (2).
     (e) Measure the clearance at the spacers (22) at the connection of the top torque link assembly (20) to the main leg (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-27-200-001).
     (f) Install the bolt (2), the washers (6) and the nut (8).
     (g) TORQUE the nut (8) to between 3.6 and 3.0 m.daN (26.55 and 22.12 lbf.ft ) T.
     (h) Safety the nut (8) with the new
AIPC 32-11-11-52-050 COTTER PIN (7) or AIPC 32-11-85-52-050 COTTER PIN (7).
     (i) Install the wedge (5) with the new
AIPC 32-11-11-52-390 TAB WASHERS (4) or AIPC 32-11-85-52-390 TAB WASHERS (4) and the bolts (3).
     (j) TORQUE the bolts (3) to between 1.8 and 1.6 m.daN (13.27 and 11.80 lbf.ft )
T.
     (k) Safety the bolts (3) with the tab washers (4).
   (5) Install the torque link damper (
Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-29-400-001).
   (6) Install the applicable proximity sensor 23GA(22GA) (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-73-400-001).
   (7) Use a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - (Material No.08BBB1) to clean:
  • The heads of the bolts (2), (3), (9) and (12)
  • The nut (15)
  • The washer (16)
  • The area around the ends of the wedges (5) and (11)
  • The area around the brackets (1) and (13).
   (8) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay Landing Gear (Material No.06AAC5) to:
  • The heads of the bolts (2), (3), (9) and (12)
  • The nut (15)
  • The washer (16)
  • The area around the ends of the wedges (5) and (11)
  • The area around the brackets (1) and (13).

B. Installation of the MLG Torque Links
   (1) Apply a thin layer of Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) to the interfaces of:
  • The pin assemblies (19) and (21)
  • The bushes of the torque links (18) and (20)
  • The bushes of the fixed and sliding members.
NOTE: For lubricant grease specification and lubrication requirements, refer to (Ref. AMM D/O 12-22-00-00).
   (2) Apply a thin layer of Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) to the bolts, the nuts and the washers before you install them.
   (3) Install the bottom torque link (18) as follows:
     (a) Put the bottom torque link (18) in position.
     (b) Install the spacers (17) on each side of the MLG fitting.
     (c) Use the 460007229 ADAPTER - TORQUE to install the pin assembly (19).
     (d) Use the 460006227 PIN-ALIGNMENT to align the holes for the bolt (12).
     (e) At the connection of the bottom torque link assembly (18) to the main leg, measure the clearance at the spacers (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-27-200-001).
     (f) Install the bolt (12), the washer(s) (16) and the nut (15).
     (g) TORQUE the nut (15) to between 2.7 and 2.1 m.daN (19.91 and 15.49 lbf.ft ) T.
NOTE: You must tighten the nut (15) no more than 2.7 m.daN (19.91 lbf.ft) to align the cotter pin hole.
     (h) Safety the nut (15) with the new
AIPC 32-11-11-52-110 COTTER PIN (14).
     (i) Install the wedge (11) with the new
AIPC 32-11-11-52-240 TAB WASHERS (10) and the bolts (9).
     (j) TORQUE the bolts (9) to between 1.8 and 1.6 m.daN (13.27 and 11.80 lbf.ft )
T.
     (k) Safety the bolts (9) with the tab washers (10).
   (4) Install the top torque link (20) as follows:
     (a) Install the spacers (22) on each side of the MLG fitting.
     (b) Put the top torque link (20) and the bracket (1) in position.
     (c) Use the
460007229 ADAPTER - TORQUE to install the pin assembly (21).
NOTE: The lubrication shaft assembly must be installed in the pin (21) CMM 321183 or CMM 321212 or CMM 321222.
     (d) Use the 460006227 PIN-ALIGNMENT to align the holes for the bolt (2).
     (e) At the connection of the top torque link assembly (20) to the main leg, measure the clearance at the spacers (22) (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-27-200-001).
     (f) Install the bolt (2), the washer(s) (6) and the nut (8).
NOTE: You can use a maximum of 3 washers (6) to align the hole for the cotter pin (7).
     (g) TORQUE the nut (8) to between 3.6 and 3.0 m.daN (26.55 and 22.12 lbf.ft ) T.
     (h) Safety the nut (8) with the new
AIPC 32-11-11-52-050 COTTER PIN (7).
     (i) Install the wedge (5) with the new
AIPC 32-11-11-52-390 TAB WASHERS (4) and the bolts (3).
     (j) TORQUE the bolts (3) to between 1.8 and 1.6 m.daN (13.27 and 11.80 lbf.ft )
T.
     (k) Safety the bolts (3) with the tab washers (4).
   (5) Install the torque link damper (
Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-29-400-001).
   (6) Install the applicable proximity sensor 23GA(22GA) (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-73-400-001).
   (7) Use a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean:
  • The bolts, the nuts and the washers that you installed, and the areas around them.
  • The joints between the bracket (1) and the MLG sliding tube.
   (8) Apply a layer (or bead) of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay Landing Gear (Material No.06AAC5) to:
  • The heads of the bolts (2), (3) and (12)
  • The ends of the bolt (2), the nut (15) and the washer (16).
  • The heads of the bolts (9) and the tab washers (10)
  • The joints between the bracket (1) and the MLG sliding tube.

A. Lubrication
   (1) Lubricate the torque link pivot pins (Ref. AMM TASK 12-22-32-640-001).

B. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Install the applicable MLG brakes (Ref. AMM TASK 32-42-27-400-001) and the wheels (Ref. AMM TASK 32-41-11-400-006).
   (3) Install the electrical harnesses on the torque link clamps (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-43-400-002).
   (4) If necessary, install the parts of the 2M electrical harness that were removed (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-43-400-003).
   (5) Install the hydraulic dressings on the torque link clamps (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-12-400-001).

C. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Lower the applicable MLG off the jack (Ref. AMM TASK 07-12-00-582-002) or lower the aircraft off jacks (Ref. AMM TASK 07-11-00-586-002).

D. Removal of Equipment
   (1) Remove the safety barriers.
   (2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (3) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
