A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) are in position.
   (2) Make sure that the ground safety locks are on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
   (3) Make sure that you obey the hydraulic safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-910-002).
   (4) On panel 400VU:
  • Make sure that the landing-gear control-lever 6GA is in the DOWN position
  • Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear.
   (5) Make sure the WARNING NOTICES are in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow and Green hydraulic systems.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) is in position below the applicable zone 731(741).
   (2) Make sure that the isolation coupling of the PTU is disconnected (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-001).
   (3) Make sure that the Green and the Yellow hydraulic systems are depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001), (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002).
   (4) Make sure that the Green and the Yellow hydraulic system reservoirs are depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
   (5) If you did not open the LGCIU circuit breakers, make sure that the electrical circuits are de-energized (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).

Subtask 32-11-12-420-053-A
A. Preparation for Installation
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
   (1) Use a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean:
  • the hydraulic dressings
  • the routings and the attached parts of the dressings
  • the dressing interfaces and the adjacent areas.
   (2) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
   (3) Make sure that the hydraulic line end-fittings and their interfaces are clean and in the correct condition.
   (4) Examine the mystic tape, at the location of the band-clamps, for correct condition. If necessary, replace the mystic tape.

WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
B. Installation of the MLG Hydraulic Dressings (MLG with the Four-Piece Hydraulic Transfer-Block Assembly)
   (1) Remove the PLUG - BLANKING before you install the applicable rigid pipes and flexible hydraulic hoses.
   (2) To install the rigid hydraulic pipes, do the steps that follow:
     (a) Put the pipe (62) in position in the applicable line support blocks. Connect the union (61) and install the locknut (73).
     (b) Put the pipe (63) in position in the applicable line support blocks. Connect the union (64) and install the locknut (76).
     (c) Put the pipe (55) in position and connect the union (80). Install the locknut (58).
     (d) Put the pipe (56) in position and connect the union (77). Install the locknut (57).
     (e) TORQUE the locknuts (58) to between 31 and 27 m.N (22.86 and 19.91 lbf.ft ) T.
     (f) TORQUE the locknuts (73) and (76) to between 47.5 and 40.7 m.N (35.03 and 30.01 lbf.ft )
T.
     (g) TORQUE the locknut (57) to between 67.8 and 57 m.N (50.00 and 42.04 lbf.ft )
T.
     (h) Put the pipe (68) in position in the applicable line support blocks. Connect the unions (67) and (79).
     (i) Put the pipe (69) in position in the applicable line support blocks. Connect the unions (70) and (78).
     (j) TORQUE the unions (67) and (70) to between 27.3 and 24 m.N (20.13 and 17.70 lbf.ft )
T.
     (k) TORQUE the unions (78), (79) and (80) to between 32 and 29 m.N (23.60 and 21.39 lbf.ft )
T.
     (l) TORQUE the union (77) to between 59 and 54 m.N (43.51 and 39.82 lbf.ft )
T.
     (m) Put the band-clamps (92) in position and tighten the band-clamp nuts (91).
     (n) Examine the routings of the rigid hydraulic pipes for correct installation. Make sure that the pipes do not touch the MLG leg or each other.
     (o) Safety the band-clamp nuts (91) 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
     (p) Identify the tightened union nuts with a red line
(
Ref. AMM TASK 20-23-22-910-001).
   (3) To install the flexible hydraulic hoses, do the steps that follow:
     (a) Make sure that you do not make kinks in the flexible hoses.
     (b) Put the flexible hose (65) in position and connect the union (60).
     (c) Put the flexible hose (66) in position and connect the union (59).
     (d) Put the flexible hose (32) in position and connect the union (31).
     (e) Put the flexible hose (29) in position and connect the union (30).
     (f) Put the flexible hose (11) in position and connect the unions (12) and (75).
     (g) Put the flexible hose (9) in position and connect the unions (10) and (74).
     (h) TORQUE the unions (60), (31), (30), (12), (10), (74) and (75) to between 31 and 27 m.N (22.86 and 19.91 lbf.ft ) T.
     (i) TORQUE the union (59) to between 47.5 and 40.7 m.N (35.03 and 30.01 lbf.ft )
T.
     (j) Put the channels (38) in position on the flexible hoses (9) and (11).
     (k) Install the channels (38) with the bolts (37), the washers (39) and the nuts (40).
     (l) TORQUE the nuts (40) to between 4.5 and 4.0 m.N (39.82 and 35.40 lbf.in )
T.
     (m) Safety the nuts (40) with the new
AIPC 32-11-12-03-065 COTTER PIN (41).
     (n) Put the line support-block assembly (35) in position on the flexible hoses (9) and (11). Loosely install the bolts (36), the washers (34) and the nuts (33).
     (o) Make sure that dimension Y is 150 MM (5.91 IN.).
     (p) TORQUE the nuts (33) to between 4.5 and 4.0 m.N (39.82 and 35.40 lbf.in )
T.
     (q) Put the flexible hose (24) in position and connect the unions (23) and (71).
     (r) Put the flexible hose (25) in position and connect the unions (26) and (72).
     (s) TORQUE the unions (26), (72), (23) and (71) to between 31 and 27 m.N (22.86 and 19.91 lbf.ft )
T.
     (t) Put the channels (38) in position on the flexible hoses (24) and (25).
     (u) Install the channels (38) with the bolts (37), the washers (39) and the nuts (40).
     (v) TORQUE the nuts (40) to between 4.5 and 4.0 m.N (39.82 and 35.40 lbf.in )
T.
     (w) Safety the nuts (40) with the new
AIPC 32-11-12-03-065 COTTER PIN (41).
     (x) Put the line support-block assembly (35) in position on the flexible hoses (24) and (25). Loosely install the bolts (36), the washers (34) and the nuts (33).
     (y) Make sure that dimension Z is 280 MM (11.02 IN.).
     (z) TORQUE the nuts (33) to between 4.5 and 4.0 m.N (39.82 and 35.40 lbf.in )
T.
     (aa) Put the flexible hoses (16) and (27) in position and connect the unions (15) and (28).
     (ab) TORQUE the unions (15) and (28) to between 31 and 27 m.N (22.86 and 19.91 lbf.ft )
T.
     (ac) If necessary, safety the unions (15) and (28) with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
     (ad) Put the line support-block assemblies (22) in position on the flexible hoses (16), (24), (25) and (27). Loosely install the bolts (17), the washers (18) and (21), and the nuts (20).
     (ae) Make sure that dimension X is between 90 MM (3.54 IN.) and 95 MM (3.74 IN.).
     (af) TORQUE the nuts (20) to between 2.5 and 2.25 m.N (22.12 and 19.91 lbf.in ) T.
     (ag) If bolts (17) have the cotter pin holes, safety them with the new
AIPC 32-11-12-17-010 COTTER PIN (19).
     (ah) Put the flexible hoses (2) and (13) in position and connect the unions (1) and (14).
     (ai) TORQUE the unions (1) and (14) to between 31 and 27 m.N (22.86 and 19.91 lbf.ft )
T.
     (aj) If necessary, safety the unions (1) and (14) with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
     (ak) Put the line support block assemblies (5) in position on the flexible hoses (2), (9), (11) and (13). Loosely install the bolts (3), the washers (4) and (6), and the nuts (7).
     (al) Make sure that dimension X is between 90 MM (3.54 IN.) and 95 MM (3.74 IN.).
     (am) TORQUE the nuts (7) to between 2.5 and 2.25 m.N (22.12 and 19.91 lbf.in )
T.
     (an) If bolts (3) have the cotter pin holes, safety them with the new
AIPC 32-11-12-17-010 COTTER PIN (8).
     (ao) Identify the tightened union nuts with a red line
(
Ref. AMM TASK 20-23-22-910-001).

B. Installation of the MLG Hydraulic Dressings (MLG with the Four-Piece Hydraulic Transfer-Block Assembly)
   (1) Remove the PLUG - BLANKING immediately before you install the applicable rigid pipes and the flexible hydraulic hoses.
   (2) To install the rigid hydraulic pipes, do the steps that follow:
     (a) Lubricate the threads of the items that follow with Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) :
  • The nuts (57), (58), (73) and (76)
  • The pipes (55), (56), (62) and (63)
  • The unions (61), (64), (77) and (80).
     (b) Apply Silicone base Grease-General Purpose - - (Material No.03JBA1) to the surfaces of the line support blocks.
     (c) Put the pipe (62) in position in the applicable line support blocks. Connect the union (61) and install the nut (73).
     (d) Put the pipe (63) in position in the applicable line support blocks. Connect the union (64) and install the nut (76).
     (e) Put the pipe (55) in position and connect the union (80). Install the nut (58).
     (f) Put the pipe (56) in position and connect the union (77). Install the nut (57).
     (g) TORQUE the nuts (73) and (76) to between 4.75 and 4.07 m.daN (35.03 and 30.01 lbf.ft ) T.
     (h) TORQUE the nut (57) to between 6.78 and 5.7 m.daN (50.00 and 42.04 lbf.ft )
T.
     (i) TORQUE the nut (58) to between 3.1 and 2.7 m.daN (22.86 and 19.91 lbf.ft )
T.
     (j) Put the pipe (68) in position in the applicable line support blocks. Connect the unions (67) and (79).
     (k) Put the pipe (69) in position in the applicable line support blocks. Connect the unions (70) and (78).
     (l) TORQUE the unions (67) and (70) to between 2.73 and 2.4 m.daN (20.13 and 17.70 lbf.ft )
T.
     (m) TORQUE the unions (78), (79) and (80) to between 3.2 and 2.9 m.daN (23.60 and 21.39 lbf.ft )
T.
     (n) TORQUE the union (77) to between 5.9 and 5.4 m.daN (43.51 and 39.82 lbf.ft )
T.
     (o) Put the band clamps (92) in position and tighten the band clamp nuts (91).
     (p) Examine the routings of the rigid hydraulic pipes for correct installation. Make sure that the pipes do not touch the MLG leg or each other.
     (q) Safety the band clamp nuts (91) with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
     (r) Identify the tightened union nuts with a red line

Ref. AMM TASK 20-23-22-910-001).
   (3) To install the flexible hydraulic hoses, do the steps that follow:
     (a) Make sure that you do not make kinks in the flexible hoses.
     (b) Lubricate the threads of the items that follow with Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1)
  • The unions (9), (11), (30), (31), (59), (60), (74) and (75).
     (c) Put the flexible hose (65) in position and connect the union (60).
     (d) Put the flexible hose (66) in position and connect the union (59).
     (e) Put the flexible hose (32) in position and connect the union (31).
     (f) Put the flexible hose (29) in position and connect the union (30).
     (g) Put the flexible hose (10) in position and connect the unions (11) and (75).
     (h) Put the flexible hose (8) in position and connect the unions (9) and (74).
     (i) TORQUE the union (60), (30), (31), (9), (11), (74) and (75) to between 3.1 and 2.7 m.daN (22.86 and 19.91 lbf.ft ) T.
     (j) TORQUE the union (59) to between 4.75 and 4.07 m.daN (35.03 and 30.01 lbf.ft )
T.
     (k) Put the guide blocks (38) in position on the flexible hoses (8) and (10).
     (l) Install the guide blocks (38) with the bolts (37), the washers (39) and the nuts (40).
     (m) TORQUE the nuts (40) to between 0.45 and 0.4 m.daN (39.82 and 35.40 lbf.in )
T.
     (n) Put the line-support block assembly (35) in position on the flexible hoses (8) and (10). Loosely install the bolts (36), the washers (34) and the nuts (33).
     (o) Make sure that dimension Y is 150 mm (5.91 in.).
     (p) TORQUE the nuts (33) to between 0.45 and 0.4 m.daN (39.82 and 35.40 lbf.in )
T.
     (q) Put the flexible hose (22) in position and connect the unions (21) and (71).
     (r) Put the flexible hose (23) in position and connect the unions (24) and (72).
     (s) TORQUE the unions (21), (24), (71) and (72) to between 3.1 and 2.7 m.daN (22.86 and 19.91 lbf.ft )
T.
     (t) Put the guide blocks (38) in position on the flexible hoses (22) and (23).
     (u) Install guide blocks (38) with the bolts (37), the washers (39) and the nuts (40).
     (v) TORQUE the nuts (40) to between 0.45 and 0.4 m.daN (39.82 and 35.40 lbf.in )
T.
     (w) Put the line-support block assembly (35) in position on the flexible hoses (22) and (23). Loosely install the bolts (36), the washers (34) and the nuts (33).
     (x) Make sure that dimension Z is 280 mm (11.02 in.).
     (y) TORQUE the nuts (33) to between 0.45 and 0.4 m.daN (39.82 and 35.40 lbf.in )
T.
     (z) Put the flexible hoses (15) and (25) in position and connect the unions (14) and (26).
     (aa) TORQUE the unions (14) and (26) to between 3.1 and 2.7 m.daN (22.86 and 19.91 lbf.ft )
T.
     (ab) Safety the unions (14) and (26) with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
     (ac) Put the line-support block assemblies (20) in position on the flexible hoses (15), (22), (23) and (25). Loosely install the bolts (16), the washers (17) and (19), and the nuts (18).
     (ad) Make sure that dimension X is between 100 mm (3.94 in.) and 105 mm (4.13 in.).
     (ae) TORQUE the nuts (18) to between 0.45 and 0.4 m.daN (39.82 and 35.40 lbf.in )
T.
     (af) Put the flexible hoses (2) and (12) in position and connect the unions (1) and (13).
     (ag) TORQUE the unions (1) and (13) to between 3.1 and 2.7 m.daN (22.86 and 19.91 lbf.ft )
T.
     (ah) Safety the unions (1) and (13) with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
     (ai) Put the line-support block assemblies (5) in position on the flexible hoses (2), (8), (10) and (12). Loosely install the bolts (3), the washers (4) and (6), and the nuts (7).
     (aj) Make sure that dimension X is between 100 mm (3.94 in.) and 105 mm (4.13 in.).
     (ak) TORQUE the nuts (7) to between 0.45 and 0.4 m.daN (39.82 and 35.40 lbf.in )
T.
     (al) Identify the tightened union nuts with a red line
(

B. Installation of the MLG Hydraulic Dressings (MLG with the Four-Piece Hydraulic Transfer-Block Assembly)
   (1) Remove the PLUG - BLANKING immediately before you install the applicable rigid pipes and the flexible hydraulic hoses.
   (2) To install the rigid hydraulic pipes, do the steps that follow:
     (a) Lubricate the threads of the items that follow with Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) :
  • The nuts (57), (58), (73) and (76)
  • The pipes (55), (56), (62) and (63)
  • The unions (61), (64), (77) and (80).
     (b) Apply Silicone base Grease-General Purpose - - (Material No.03JBA1) to the surfaces of the line support blocks.
     (c) Put the pipe (62) in position in the applicable line support blocks. Connect the union (61) and install the nut (73).
     (d) Put the pipe (63) in position in the applicable line support blocks. Connect the union (64) and install the nut (76).
     (e) Put the pipe (55) in position and connect the union (80). Install the nut (58).
     (f) Put the pipe (56) in position and connect the union (77). Install the nut (57).
     (g) TORQUE the nuts (73) and (76) to between 4.75 and 4.07 m.daN (35.03 and 30.01 lbf.ft ) T.
     (h) TORQUE the nut (57) to between 6.78 and 5.7 m.daN (50.00 and 42.04 lbf.ft )
T.
     (i) TORQUE the nut (58) to between 3.1 and 2.7 m.daN (22.86 and 19.91 lbf.ft )
T.
     (j) Put the pipe (68) in position in the applicable line support blocks. Connect the unions (67) and (79).
     (k) Put the pipe (69) in position in the applicable line support blocks. Connect the unions (70) and (78).
     (l) TORQUE the unions (67) and (70) to between 2.73 and 2.4 m.daN (20.13 and 17.70 lbf.ft )
T.
     (m) TORQUE the unions (78), (79) and (80) to between 3.2 and 2.9 m.daN (23.60 and 21.39 lbf.ft )
T.
     (n) TORQUE the union (77) to between 5.9 and 5.4 m.daN (43.51 and 39.82 lbf.ft )
T.
     (o) Put the band clamps (92) in position and tighten the band clamp nuts (91).
     (p) Examine the routings of the rigid hydraulic pipes for correct installation. Make sure that the pipes do not touch the MLG leg or each other.
     (q) Safety the band clamp nuts (91) with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
     (r) Identify the tightened union nuts with a red line

   (3) To install the flexible hydraulic hoses, do the steps that follow:
     (a) Make sure that you do not make kinks in the flexible hoses.
     (b) Lubricate the threads of the items with Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) :
  • The unions (9), (11), (30), (31), (59), (60), (74) and (75).
     (c) Put the flexible hose (65) in position and connect the union (60).
     (d) Put the flexible hose (66) in position and connect the union (59).
     (e) Put the flexible hose (32) in position and connect the union (31).
     (f) Put the flexible hose (29) in position and connect the union (30).
     (g) Put the flexible hose (10) in position and connect the unions (11) and (75).
     (h) Put the flexible hose (8) in position and connect the unions (9) and (74).
     (i) TORQUE the unions (60), (30), (31), (9), (11), (74) and (75) to between 3.1 and 2.7 m.daN (22.86 and 19.91 lbf.ft ) T.
     (j) TORQUE the union (59) to between 4.75 and 4.07 m.daN (35.03 and 30.01 lbf.ft )
T.
     (k) Put the guide blocks (41) in position on the flexible hoses (8) and (10).
     (l) Install the guide blocks (41) with the bolts (40), the washers (42) and the nuts (43).
     (m) TORQUE the nuts (43) to between 0.45 and 0.4 m.daN (39.82 and 35.40 lbf.in )
T.
     (n) Put the line-support block assembly (35) in position on the flexible hoses (8) and (10).
     (o) Loosely install the bolts (37), the washers (36) and (34) and the nuts (33).
     (p) Make sure that dimension Y is 150 mm (5.91 in.).
     (q) TORQUE the nuts (33) to between 0.45 and 0.4 m.daN (39.82 and 35.40 lbf.in )
T.
     (r) Put the flexible hose (22) in position and connect the unions (21) and (71).
     (s) Put the flexible hose (23) in position and connect the unions (24) and (72).
     (t) TORQUE the unions (21), (24), (71) and (72) to between 3.1 and 2.7 m.daN (22.86 and 19.91 lbf.ft )

     (u) Put the guide blocks (41) in position on the flexible hoses (22) and (23).
     (v) Install the guide blocks (41) with the bolts (40), the washers (42) and the nuts (43).
     (w) TORQUE the nuts (43) to between 0.45 and 0.4 m.daN (39.82 and 35.40 lbf.in )
T.
     (x) Put the line-support block assembly (35) in position on the flexible hoses (22) and (23).
     (y) Loosely install the bolts (37), the washers (36) and (34) and the nuts (33).
     (z) Make sure that dimension Z is 280 mm (11.02 in.).
     (aa) TORQUE the nuts (33) to between 0.45 and 0.4 m.daN (39.82 and 35.40 lbf.in )

     (ab) Put the flexible hoses (15) and (25) in position and connect the unions (14) and (26).
     (ac) TORQUE the unions (14) and (26) to between 3.1 and 2.7 m.daN (22.86 and 19.91 lbf.ft )

     (ad) Safety the unions (14) and (26) with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
     (ae) Put the line-support block assemblies (20) in position on the flexible hoses (15), (22), (23) and (25).
     (af) Loosely install the bolts (16), the washers (17) and (19), and the nuts (18).
     (ag) Make sure that dimension X is between 100 mm (3.94 in.) and 105 mm (4.13 in.).
     (ah) TORQUE the nuts (18) to between 0.45 and 0.4 m.daN (39.82 and 35.40 lbf.in )

     (ai) Put the flexible hoses (2) and (12) in position and connect the unions (1) and (13).

     (j) Put the pipe (68) in position in the applicable line support blocks. Connect the unions (67) and (79).
