Operational Check of Alternate Braking System

TASK 32-43-00-710-001-A
Operational Check of Alternate Braking System

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE CONTROLS AGREE WITH THE POSITION OF THE ITEMS THEY OPERATE BEFORE YOU PRESSURIZE A HYDRAULIC SYSTEM. UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF HYDRAULICALLY OPERATED ITEMS CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
WARNING: PRESSURIZE ONLY THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM(S) THAT IS (ARE) NECESSARY FOR THE TASK. ISOLATE THE OTHER HYDRAULIC SYSTEM(S) BEFORE YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER TO THE AIRCRAFT.

C. Safety Precautions
   (1) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to:
  • operate the landing gear control lever,
  • pressurize the Green hydraulic system.
4. Procedure
Subtask 32-43-00-710-054-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Operational Test of the Alternate Braking with or without Anti Skid
ACTION
RESULT
1.Push in the two brake pedals on the CAPT or F/O side.
On the panel 400VU, the brake yellow pressure triple indicator shows the left and right side pressure values.
The pistons related to the Yellow hydraulic system are extended.
2.Release the brake pedals.
The triple indicator shows that the pressure supplied to the brakes decreases to zero.
The pistons related to the Yellow hydraulic system are retracted.
3.Slowly push the brake pedals on the CAPT or F/O side.
On the panel 400VU:
  • the pressure supplied to the brakes increases in proportion to the pressure you put on the pedals,
  • the pressure shown at full pedal movement is between 2400 psi (165 bar) and 2700 psi (185 bar).
4.On the panel 402VU, set the A/SKID & N/W STRG switch to OFF.
On the WHEEL page, the STEERING and A/SKID indication comes into view in amber. You can hear the single chime. On the upper ECAM display unit the BRAKES A/SKID N/WS OFF indication comes into view.
5.Do the same steps as in paragraphs 1 to 3.
You must get the same results.
6.On the panel 402VU, set the A/SKID & N/W STRG switch to ON.
On the upper ECAM display unit, the BRAKES A/SKID N/WS OFF indication goes out of view. On the WHEEL page the STEERING and A/SKID indication go out of view.

B. Test of the Hydraulic System
ACTION
RESULT
1.Pressurize the Green hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-863-001).

2.Fully push in the CAPT brake pedals until they touch the stop.
On the panel 400VU, the triple indicator shows no pressure indications.
3.On the panel 402VU, set the A/SKID & N/W STRG switch to OFF.
On the triple indicator, the pressure shown at full pedal movement is between 2400 psi (165.4742 bar) and 2700 psi (186.1584 bar).
You can hear the single chime. On the upper ECAM display unit the BRAKES A/SKID N/WS OFF indication comes into view.
