LUBRICATION - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
3. Job Set-up
Subtask 32-11-29-941-051-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) are in position.
   (2) Make sure that the ground safety locks are installed on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
   (3) On panel 400VU:
  • Make sure that the landing-gear control-lever is in the DOWN position
  • Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure the applicable axle is on jacks (Ref. AMM TASK 07-12-00-582-002).
   (2) Make sure the applicable MLG wheels have been removed (Ref. AMM TASK 32-41-11-000-006).
4. Procedure
Subtask 32-11-29-420-051-F ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area with Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
   (2) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
   (3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (4) Lubricate the items that follow with Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened - (Material No.03GBD1) :
  • The spacers (1), (15) and (17)
  • The torque link pin (3)
  • The shaped spacer (6)
  • The sleeves (7) and (16)
  • The threads of the bolts (9) and (10)
  • The washers (11) and (14)
  • The mating surfaces of the torque link damper (2)
  • The hinge points of the top and bottom torque-link assemblies.
NOTE: For lubricant grease specification and lubrication requirements, (Ref. AMM D/O 12-22-00-00).
Subtask 32-11-29-420-051-G ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area with Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - (Material No.08BBB1) .
   (2) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
   (3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (4) Apply Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened - (Material No.03GBD1) to the external diameter of the pin (3).
   (5) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Hydraulic (Material No.06LDG6) to the shank and threads of the bolts (9), (10) and (13).

B. Installation of the Torque Link Damper
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (1) Install the sleeve (7) in the top torque-link assembly and the sleeve (16) in the bottom torque-link assembly.
   (2) Assemble the bracket (12) to the shaped spacer (6) and install the washers (14) and the bolts (13).
   (3) TORQUE the bolts (13) to between 1.0 and 0.8 m.daN (88.50 and 70.80 lbf.in ) T.
   (4) Safety the bolts (13) together with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
   (5) Put the shaped spacer (6) in position on the sleeve (7). Make sure that the flange of the shaped spacer (6) touches the top torque-link assembly.
   (6) Carefully install the torque link pin (3) into the torque link damper (2).
   (7) Put the spacer (1) in position on the torque link pin (3).
   (8) Install the torque link pin (3) through the shaped spacer (6), the top torque-link assembly and the sleeve (7).
   (9) Install the torque link damper (2) on the shaped spacer (6) with the:
  • Washers (8)
  • Bolts (9)
  • Washers (11)
  • Bolts (10).
NOTE: The pair of longer bolts (10) and washers (11) are installed through the bracket (12).
   (10) TORQUE the bolts (9) and (10) in a diagonal sequence to between 2.9 and 2.7 m.daN (21.39 and 19.91 lbf.ft )
T.
   (11) Safety the top and bottom bolts (9) and (10) together with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
   (12) Align the apex of the top and bottom torque-link assemblies.
   (13) Put and hold the spacer (15) in position between the top and bottom torque-link assemblies.
   (14) Push the torque link pin (3) through the torque link damper (2) and the top and bottom torque-link assemblies. Push the torque link pin (3) until the head is against the flange of the torque link damper (2).
   (15) Install the spacer (17) and the nut (18) on the torque link pin (3).
   (16) Torque the nut (18) as follows:
     (a) Hold the torque link pin (3) with the
460007242 ADAPTOR, TORQUE REACTION and TORQUE the nut (18) to between 22.3 and 21.185 m.daN (164.45 and 156.23 lbf.ft ) T.
     (b) Loosen the nut (18).
     (c) Do steps (a) and (b) three more times.
     (d) TORQUE the nut (18) to between 22.3 and 13.5 m.daN (164.45 and 99.56 lbf.ft )
T.
     (e) Make sure that the slot in the nut (18) aligns with the hole in the torque link pin (3). If necessary, refer to CMM 321222 or CMM 321225.
   (17) Install the bolt (19) through the nut (18) and the torque link pin (3).
   (18) Install the washer(s) (22) and the nut (21) on the bolt (19).
NOTE: You can install a maximum of two washers (22) to align the slots in the nut (21) with the hole in the bolt (19).
   (19) TORQUE the nut (21) to between 1.0 and 0.5 m.daN (88.50 and 44.25 lbf.in )
T.
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
   (20) Safety the nut (21) with the new
AIPC 32-11-11-52-010 COTTER PIN (20).
   (21) Install the cover (5) and safety it with the new
AIPC 32-11-11-52-032 CABLE TIE (4).
   (22) If necessary, do the replenishment of the torque link damper (2) (
Ref. AMM TASK 12-12-32-611-006).
   (23) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay Landing Gear (Material No.06AAC5) or Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Quick Curing - (Material No.06ABF1) to:
  • The heads of the bolts (9), (10) and (13)
  • The end of the pin (3) and the nut (18)
  • The joint between the nut (18) and the spacer (17)
  • The head of the bolt (19)
  • The end of the bolt (19), the nut (21) and the washer (22).

B. Installation of the Torque Link Damper
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (1) Install the sleeve (7) in the top torque-link assembly.
   (2) Install the spacer (6) to the top torque-link assembly with the bolts (9) and the washers (8).
   (3) Install the bracket (12) to the spacer (6) with the washers (14) and the bolts (13).
   (4) TORQUE the bolts (13) to between 1.0 and 0.8 m.daN (88.50 and 70.80 lbf.in ) T.
   (5) Install the spacer (1).
   (6) Put the torque link damper (2) in position on the spacer (6).
   (7) Install the washers (11) and the bolts (10) through the bracket (12).
   (8) TORQUE the bolts (9) and (10) to between 2.9 and 2.7 m.daN (21.39 and 19.91 lbf.ft )
T.
   (9) Safety the bolts (9) and (10) with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
   (10) Install the sleeve (16) in the bottom torque-link assembly.
   (11) Align the apex of the top and bottom torque-link assemblies.
   (12) Put and hold the spacer (15) in position between the top and bottom torque-link assemblies.
   (13) Push the pin (3) through the torque link damper (2) and the top and bottom torque-link assemblies. Push the pin (3) until the head is against the flange of the torque link damper (2).
   (14) Install the spacer (17) and the nut (18) on the pin (3).
   (15) Torque the nut (18) as follows:
     (a) Hold the pin (3) with the
460007242 ADAPTOR, TORQUE REACTION and TORQUE the nut (18) to between 22.3 and 21.185 m.daN (164.45 and 156.23 lbf.ft ) T.
     (b) Loosen the nut (18).
     (c) Do steps (a) and (b) three more times.
     (d) TORQUE the nut (18) to between 22.3 and 13.5 m.daN (164.45 and 99.56 lbf.ft )
T.
   (16) Make sure that the slot in the nut (18) aligns with the hole in the pin (3). If necessary, refer to CMM 321282.
   (17) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Hydraulic (Material No.
06LDG6) to the:
  • Shank, threads and undercuts of the bolt (22)
  • Mating surfaces of the washers (21), the nut (20) and the pin (3).
   (18) Install the bolt (22) through the nut (18) and the pin (3).
   (19) Install the washers (21) and the nut (20) on the bolt (22).
   (20) TORQUE the nut (20) to between 1.0 and 0.5 m.daN (88.50 and 44.25 lbf.in ) T.
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
   (21) Safety the nut (20) with the new
AIPC 32-11-11-52-010 COTTER PIN (19) or the new AIPC 32-11-85-52-010 COTTER PIN (19).
   (22) Install the cover (4) and safety it with the new
AIPC 32-11-11-52-032 CABLE TIE (5) or the new AIPC 32-11-85-52-032 CABLE TIE (5).
   (23) If necessary, do the replenishment of the torque link damper (2) (
Ref. AMM TASK 12-12-32-611-006).
   (24) Use a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - (Material No.08BBB1) to clean the heads of the bolts (9), (10), (13) and (22).
   (25) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay Landing Gear (Material No.06AAC5) or Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Quick Curing - (Material No.06ABF1) to the:
  • Heads of the bolts (9), (10), (13) and (22)
  • Joints between the spacer (15) and the nut (18).

B. Installation of the Torque Link Damper
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (1) Install the sleeve (7) in the top torque-link assembly.
   (2) Install the spacer (6) to the top torque-link assembly with the bolts (9) and the washers (8).
   (3) Install the bracket (12) to the spacer (6) with the washers (14) and the bolts (13).
   (4) TORQUE the bolts (13) to between 1.0 and 0.8 m.daN (88.50 and 70.80 lbf.in ) T.
   (5) Install the spacer (1).
   (6) Put the torque link damper (2) in position on the spacer (6).
   (7) Install the washers (11) and the bolts (10) through the bracket (12).
   (8) TORQUE the bolts (9) and (10) to between 2.9 and 2.7 m.daN (21.39 and 19.91 lbf.ft )
T.
   (9) Safety the bolts (9) and (10) with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
   (10) Install the sleeve (16) in the bottom torque-link assembly.
   (11) Align the apex of the top and bottom torque link assemblies.
   (12) Put and hold the spacer (15) in position between the top and bottom torque link assemblies.
   (13) Push the pin (3) through the torque link damper (2) and the top and bottom torque link assemblies. Push the pin (3) until the head is against the flange of the torque link damper (2).
   (14) Install the spacer (17) and the nut (18) on the pin (3).
   (15) TORQUE the nut (18) as follows:
     (a) Hold the pin (3) with the
460007242 ADAPTOR, TORQUE REACTION and TORQUE the nut (18) to between 22.3 and 21.185 m.daN (164.45 and 156.23 lbf.ft ) T.
     (b) Loosen the nut (18).
     (c) Do steps (a) and (b) three more times.
     (d) TORQUE the nut (18) to between 22.3 and 13.5 m.daN (164.45 and 99.56 lbf.ft )
T.
     (e) Make sure that the slot in the nut (18) aligns with the hole in the pin (3). If necessary, refer to CMM 321289.
   (16) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Hydraulic (Material No.
06LDG6) to the:
  • Shank, threads and undercuts of the bolt (22)
  • Mating surfaces of the washers (21), the nut (20) and the pin (3).
   (17) Install the bolt (22) through the nut (18) and the pin (3).
   (18) Install the washers (21) and the new AIPC 32-11-11-52-012 NUT (20) or AIPC 32-11-85-52-012 NUT (20) on the bolt (22).
   (19) TORQUE the nut (20) to between 1.0 and 0.5 m.daN (88.50 and 44.25 lbf.in )
T.
   (20) Safety the nut (20) with the new
AIPC 32-11-11-52-010 COTTER PIN (19) or AIPC 32-11-85-52-010 COTTER PIN (19).
   (21) Install the cover (4) and safety it with the new
AIPC 32-11-11-52-032 CABLE TIE (5) or AIPC 32-11-85-52-032 CABLE TIE (5).
   (22) If necessary, do the replenishment of the torque link damper (2) (
Ref. AMM TASK 12-12-32-611-006).
   (23) Use a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - (Material No.08BBB1) to clean the:
  • Heads of the bolts (9), (10), (13) and (22)
  • Joints between the spacer (17) and the nut (18).
   (24) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay Landing Gear (Material No.06AAC5) or Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Quick Curing - (Material No.06ABF1) to the:
  • Heads of the bolts (9), (10), (13) and (22)
  • Joints between the spacer (17) and the nut (18).

   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Install the MLG wheels (Ref. AMM TASK 32-41-11-400-006).

   (1) Lower the aircraft off the jacks (Ref. AMM TASK 07-12-00-582-002).

C. Removal of Equipment
   (1) Remove the SAFETY BARRIER(S).
   (2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (3) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
