3. Job Set-up
Subtask 12-22-32-941-050-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
   (2) Make sure that the ground safety locks are installed on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
   (3) On the panel 400VU:
  • make sure that the landing-gear control-lever (6GA) is in the DOWN position
  • put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear.
   (4) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear doors.

B. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position adjacent to the applicable MLG.
   (2) Open the applicable MLG door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
   (3) Make sure that the safety device is installed on the applicable MLG door actuating-cylinder (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-002).

C. Preparation of the Equipment
   (1) Make sure that the LUBRICATING EQUIPMENT is in the correct condition before you fill it.
   (2) Operate the LUBRICATING EQUIPMENT to make sure that the lines and adaptor are full of new lubricant.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
   (3) Clean the greasers with a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) and Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
4. Procedure
Subtask 12-22-32-640-051-J ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
CAUTION: DO NOT OPERATE POWER-OPERATED LUBRICATION EQUIPMENT AT MORE THAN 207 bars (3000 psi). HIGH LUBRICATION PRESSURE CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.
CAUTION: FOR LUBRICATION OF THE GLAND HOUSING ON THE LANDING GEAR BOTTOM-BEARING, USE ONLY HAND-OPERATED LUBRICATION EQUIPMENT. POWER-OPERATED LUBRICATION EQUIPMENT CAN CAUSE EXTRUSION OF THE LANDING-GEAR BOTTOM-BEARING SCRAPER-SEAL.
A. Lubrication of the Main Landing Gear and Doors
NOTE: For lubricant grease specification and lubrication requirements, (Ref. AMM D/O 12-22-00-00).
   (1) Use the figures together with the tables that follow, to find the greasers.
   (2) Lubricate the greasers of the MLG as follows:
     (a) Lubricate greasers Item 1 in the MLG Table with Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) . Do this until new grease comes out.
     (b) Lubricate greasers Item 4 in the MLG Table with Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened - (Material No.03GBD1) . Do this until new grease comes out.
     (c) Lubricate the remaining greasers in the MLG Table with Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) , Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) . Do this until new grease comes out.
     (d) Lubricate greasers Items 2 thru 4 in the MLG DOOR AND UPLOCKS Table with Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) , Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) . Do this until new grease comes out.
     (e) Lubricate greasers Items 1 and 5 in the MLG DOOR AND UPLOCKS Table with Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) , Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) as follows:
  • Use the hand-operated lubrication equipment to lubricate the uplock with a maximum of two full strokes.

   (3) If the MLG-door actuator-bearing housing shows signs of lateral movement, replace it.
NOTE: The MLG-door actuator-bearing housing can show signs of circular movement, which is permitted.
   (4) Remove the unwanted grease as follows:
     (a) Clean the greasers with a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) and Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
     (b) Make sure that the greaser ball is in the correct position.
   (5) Do an inspection of the chrome surfaces of the actuator piston rods.
     (a) Make sure that there is no grease on the chrome surfaces of the actuator piston rods.
       1 If you find grease on the chrome surfaces of the actuator piston rods, do the steps that follow:
         a Clean the chrome surfaces with a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - (Material No.08BBB1) .
         b Apply a thin layer of Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) with a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) on the chrome surfaces of the actuator piston rods.

Do this until new grease comes out.

   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the access platform(s).
   (3) Close the applicable MLG door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-410-001).

   (1) Remove the SAFETY BARRIER(S).
   (2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
