3. Job Set-up
Subtask 32-48-51-941-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Make sure that the CHOCK - WHEEL(S) are in position.
   (2) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
   (3) Make sure the safety devices are installed on the landing gears (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
   (4) In the cockpit, on panel 400VU:
     (a) Make sure that the landing-gear control lever is in the DOWN position.
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate the landing-gear control lever.

4. Procedure
Subtask 32-48-51-420-065-X ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
A. Installation of the Fan Motor
F Fan Assy ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Lubricate the fasteners with Grease-Thread Anti-seize Graphited and Petrolatum - (Material No.03LBB1) .
   (2) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
   (3) Put the tachometer (5) and the drive shaft (7) together in position on the motor (32). Install the washers (30) and the screws (31).
   (4) TORQUE the screws (31) to between 0.25 and 0.2 m.daN (22.12 and 17.70 lbf.in ) T.
   (5) Put the housing (12) in position on the motor (32) and install the washers (34) and the screws (33).
   (6) TORQUE the screws (33) to between 0.3 and 0.25 m.daN (26.55 and 22.12 lbf.in )
T.
   (7) Put the electrical connector (36) in position on the housing (12) and install the nut (35). Tighten the nut (35).
   (8) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
   (9) Install the circlip (37).
NOTE: The cable kit from harness 2M contains the circlips (37) and (39), the spring (38) and the washer (40).
   (10) Install the spring (38), the washer (40) and the circlip (39).
   (11) Connect the connector (3) to the connector (36) and put the plate (2) in position on the housing (12).
   (12) Install the screws (4) and TORQUE them to between 0.1 and 0.08 m.daN (8.85 and 7.08 lbf.in )
T.
   (13) Connect the connector (1) to the tachometer (5).
   (14) Connect the connector (45) to the motor assembly (6) as follows:
     (a) Make sure that the CAP - BLANKING is installed on the connector (45).
     (b) Loosen the nut (46) and put the connector (45) in the slot of the stirrup connector (47).
     (c) Hold the connector (45) in the correct position and tighten the nut (46).
     (d) Safety the nut (46) to the motor assembly (6) with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
   (15) Apply a thin layer of Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.
03GBB1) in the axle along a length of 100 mm (3.94 in.) approximately.
   (16) Install the motor assembly (6) in the axle. Do not use force to install the motor assembly (6).
     (a) Make sure that the pads of the motor assembly (6) are in the correct condition.
     (b) During installation, put the electrical cables in the correct position.
   (17) Attach the motor assembly (6) with the bolts (8), the washers (9) and the new IPC-CSN AIPC 32-11-13-01-210 NUT (10) or the new IPC-CSN AIPC 32-11-85-61-210 NUT (10).
     (a) Install the bolts (8) with their heads turned to the inner side of the axle.
   (18) TORQUE the nuts (10) to between 0.45 and 0.40 m.daN (39.82 and 35.40 lbf.in )
T.
   (19) Safety the nuts (10) with the new IPC-CSN
AIPC 32-11-13-01-200 COTTER PIN (11) or the new IPC-CSN AIPC 32-11-85-61-200 COTTER PIN (11).
Subtask 32-48-51-720-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Test(s)
   (1) Do the functional test of the tachometer (
Ref. AMM TASK 32-42-00-720-002) or (Ref. AMM TASK 32-42-00-720-003).
   (2) Do a BITE test of the EFCS as follows:
     (a) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
     (b) Do the reset the related SEC(s) as follows:
       1 FOR [19GG] (TACHOMETER-WHEEL 1), [22GG] (TACHOMETER-WHEEL 4)
         a On overhead panel 24VU:
  • Release the FLT CTL SEC 2 pushbutton switch, then push it in.
  • Release the FLT CTL SEC 3 pushbutton switch, then push it in.
       2 FOR [20GG] (TACHOMETER-WHEEL 3), [21GG] (TACHOMETER-WHEEL 2)
         a On overhead panel 23VU:
  • Release the FLT CTL SEC 1 pushbutton switch, then push it in.
     (c) Do the BITE test of the EFCS (Ref. AMM TASK 27-96-00-740-001).
     (d) Make sure that the MCDU shows no maintenance message related to the tachometer.
     (e) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
Subtask 32-48-51-420-066-Y ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
C. Installation of the Impeller and Shroud Assembly
F Fan Assy ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Clean the inner surface of the wheel with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - (Material No.08BBB1) .
   (2) Examine the screws (44) and make sure that the screws (44) are not loose.
     (a) If the screws (44) are loose, do the steps that follow:
       1 Remove the screws (44), washers (43) and adapter (41) from the shroud support (42).
       2 Examine the screws (44) for corrosion, cracks, dents, distortion and wear.
         a If the screws (44) are damaged, replace them and continue from step 3_.
         b If the screws (44) are not damaged, do the subsequent steps.
       3 Install the washers (43) and the screws (44).
       4 TORQUE the screws (44) to between 0.40 and 0.35 m.daN (35.40 and 30.97 lbf.in ) T.
   (3) Install the joint (20) and the collar (23).
     (a) The locating pin (24) puts the joint (20) in the correct position. The locating pin (24) locks the joint (20) which then cannot turn on the wheel.
   (4) Install the nut (22).
   (5) TORQUE the nut (22) to between 0.34 and 0.28 m.daN (30.09 and 24.78 lbf.in )
T.
NOTE: The pins (21) set the shroud (19) in the correct position.
   (6) Make sure that the grommet is in position. If the TPIS is not installed, make sure that the obturator is installed on the grommet.
     (a) If the grommet is missing, refer to the applicable CMM and send the brake cooling fan to the overhaul shop.
   (7) Install the shroud (19) on the joint (20).
NOTE: The shroud (19) must touch the wheel around all its circumference.
   (8) Install the impeller (18) as follows:
     (a) Apply a thin layer of Grease-Thread Anti-seize Graphited and Petrolatum - (Material No.
03LBB1) on the drive shaft of the impeller (18) and on the threads of the nut (16).
     (b) Make sure that the grub screw is installed on the impeller (18) and that it is in the correct condition.
     (c) Put the impeller (18) in position and engage the grub screw of the impeller (18) on the groove of the drive shaft.
     (d) Install the washer (17) and the nut (16).
     (e) Lock the impeller (18) with the MG174-04 DISASSEMBLY TOOL.
     (f) TORQUE the nut (16) to between 3.4 and 3.1 m.daN (25.07 and 22.86 lbf.ft ) T.
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (g) Safety the nut (16) with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
     (h) Make sure that the impeller (18) turns freely.
   (9) Clean the splines (7) and the splines of the guard assembly (15) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - (Material No.
08BBB1) .
   (10) Apply a thin layer of Grease-Thread Anti-seize Graphited and Petrolatum - (Material No.03LBB1) on the splines (7) and on the splines of the guard assembly (15).
   (11) Put the guard assembly (15) in position on the shroud (19).
NOTE: The debris guard has holes of different diameters:
  • Two large diameter holes to put the locating pins (21) in the correct position. There is the same number of holes on the shroud assembly (centering function).
  • Four small diameter holes to put the four attachment screws in the correct position.
   (12) Install the new AIPC 32-48-51-04-035 TAB WASHERS (14) and the screws (13) on the guard assembly (15) and on the shroud (19). Do not tighten the screws (13) at this time.
   (13) Install the guard assembly (15) and the shroud (19) on the joint (20). Make sure that the valve is correctly engaged in the grommet.
NOTE: The shroud (19) must touch the wheel around all its circumference.
     (a) Use the locating pins (21) to put the shroud (19) and the guard assembly (15) in the correct position.
     (b) During the installation, make sure that you correctly engage the splines (7) in the guard assembly (15).
   (14) TORQUE the screws (13) to between 1.9 and 1.6 m.daN (14.01 and 11.80 lbf.ft ) T.
     (a) Make sure that the heads of the screws are correctly aligned with the tab washers.
F Brake Fan - Main Gear Wheel ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (15) Safety the screws (13) with the tab washers (14).
   (16) If you used grease for the installation of the shroud (19):
  • Clean the wheel and the shroud (19) with Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) to remove the remaining grease.

D. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

A. Removal of Equipment
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (3) Remove the safety devices from the landing gears (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-081-001).
   (4) Remove the SAFETY BARRIERS.
   (5) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
