   (2) Open the thrust reverser doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-040).
   (3) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE near the damaged engine.

   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010).

Inspection of the nacelles:





A.

Examine the air intake cowl for signs of damage, cracks, distortion and damaged paintwork (Ref. AMM TASK 71-11-00-210-040).

Examine the fan cowl doors for signs of damage, cracks, distortion and damaged paintwork (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-11-200-804).

If you find damage on the fan cowl doors, examine the fan cowl hinge-fittings for signs of:
  • Damage
  • Missing/pulled or torn fasteners
  • Cracks
  • Distortion or
  • Damaged paintwork.

Examine the thrust reverser (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-11-210-040).
X






If you find damage on the thrust reverser, examine the thrust reverser hinge-fittings for signs of damage, missing/pulled or torn fasteners, cracks, distortion or damaged paintwork.
  • If you find damage on the thrust reverser hinge-fittings, examine the pylon side panels for:
    - Damage
    - Cracks
    - Missing/pulled or torn fasteners
    - Damaged paintwork or
    - Other damage.

2.

Inspection of the pylons:





A.

Do an external inspection of the pylon secondary structure (ATA 54-52, 54-53, 54-54, 54-55 and 54-56) and the pylon-box primary structure (lateral panel).
Make sure that:
  • There are no buckles, signs of shear, distortion or cracks,
  • The paint is in the correct condition,
  • There are no pulled or missing fasteners/rivets.

If you find damage:







(1) Remove the access panels and the access doors of the damaged area from the secondary structure to examine the damage internally.

X





(2) Remove these access doors from the primary structure:
(Ref. AMM TASK 54-51-21-000-001).

X





(3) Do an internal inspection of the secondary structure and the pylon-box primary structure (all the items that you can see) for distortion, buckles, cracks, defective attachment, failures, leaks, missing fasteners or other damage which include:
  • The lower and the upper spars,
  • The ribs,
  • The side panels,
  • The fire protection system (specially fire-extinguishing bottle attachments),
  • The pipes and ducts,
  • The drain pipes,
  • The hydraulic pipes.

B.

Open the fan cowl doors and the thrust-reverser cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-040).
X






Do an external inspection of the lower spar, pylon lower area (all the items that you can see) and cantilever structure, fan cowl fittings and thrust reverser fittings.
Make sure that:
  • There are no buckles, signs of shear, distortion or cracks,
  • The paint is in the correct condition,
  • There are no pulled or missing fasteners/rivets.

If you find damage:







(1) If installed, remove the access panels and the access doors of the damaged area from the secondary structure to examine the damage internally.

X





(2) If installed, remove these access doors from the primary structure:
(Ref. AMM TASK 54-51-21-000-001).

X





(3) Do an internal inspection of the secondary structure and the pylon-box primary structure (all the items that you can see) for distortion, buckles, cracks, defective attachment, failures, leaks, missing fasteners or other damage which include:

  • The front and rear pylon-to-wing attachment at RIB4 and RIB10,
  • The spigot between RIB4 and RIB5.
Make sure that there are no signs of distortion, buckles, cracks or other damage.

If you find damage:







(1) Remove the engine (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-000-040).

X





(2) Do an inspection of the attached fittings at the head of RIB1 pyramid and at the rear engine attachment.
Make sure that there are no signs of distortion, buckles, cracks or other damage to the structure.

X





(3) Remove the pylon-to-wing attach fittings (Ref. AMM TASK 54-51-17-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 54-51-17-000-002).

(4) Do a detailed visual inspection of:

(5) Contact Airbus.

Inspection of the engine mounts:





A.

Do a visual inspection of the engine mounts (engine to pylon attachments):
Make sure that there are no signs of distortion, buckles, cracks or other damage.

If you find damage:







(1) Remove the engine (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-000-040).

X





(2) Do a detailed inspection of the forward and aft engine mounts for cracks or distortion (dimensional and Non-Destructive Test (NDT) inspection).

(3) Contact Airbus.

(1) Remove the access panels and the access doors of the damaged area from the secondary structure to examine the damage internally.

  • The fire protection system (specially fire-extinguishing bottle attachments),
  • The pipes and ducts,
  • The drain pipes,
  • The hydraulic pipes.

Open the fan cowl doors and the thrust-reverser cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802).

Do an external inspection of the lower area of the primary structure and forward secondary structure (all the items that you can see), fan cowl fittings and thrust reverser fittings.
Make sure that:
  • There are no buckles, signs of shear, distortion or cracks,
  • The paint is in the correct condition,
  • There are no pulled or missing fasteners/rivets.

If you find damage:







(1) If installed, remove the access panels and the access doors of the damaged area from the secondary structure to examine the damage internally.

X





(2) If installed, remove the access doors from the primary structure.

X





(3) Do an internal inspection of the primary and secondary structure (all the items that you can see) for distortion, buckles, cracks, defective attachment, leaks, missing fasteners or other damage which include:
  • The lower (specially splicing area between RIB2 and RIB3) and the upper spars,
  • The ribs,
  • The side panels,
  • The fire protection system (specially fire-extinguishing bottle attachments),
  • The pipes and ducts,
  • The drain pipes,
  • The hydraulic pipes.

C.

Remove the center fillets at the pylon-to-wing junction access panels 471AL, 471AR, 471CL and 471CR (Ref. AMM TASK 54-53-11-000-804).

Do a detailed visual inspection of:
  • The front and rear pylon-to-wing attachment at RIB5 and RIB10,
  • The spigot between RIB5 and RIB6.
Make sure that there are no signs of distortion, buckles, cracks or other damage.

If you find damage:







(1) Remove the pylon-to-wing attach fittings (Ref. AMM TASK 54-51-17-000-804) and (Ref. AMM TASK 54-51-17-000-805).

(2) Do a detailed visual inspection of:
  • The forward attachment fitting at RIB5,
  • The spigot between RIB5 and RIB6,
  • The rear attachment fitting at RIB10.

(3) Contact Airbus.

Inspection of the engine mounts:





A.

Do a visual inspection of the engine mounts (engine to pylon attachments):
Make sure that there are no signs of distortion, buckles, cracks or other damage.

If you find damage:







(1) Remove the engine (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-51-000-802).

(2) Do a detailed inspection of the forward and aft engine mounts for cracks or distortion (dimensional and Non-Destructive Test (NDT) inspection).

(3) Contact Airbus.

Install the access panels and the access doors that you removed when you started phase 2 inspections of this subtask:
  • Install the center fillets at the pylon-to-wing junction (Ref. AMM TASK 54-53-11-400-804).
  • Install the access doors on the primary structure.
  • Install the access panels and the access doors on the secondary structure.
