B. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):

(2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.
4. Procedure(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):
(a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

(2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.

A. General Visual Inspection of the Fan Cowl Doors
(2) Find the fan cowl doors behind the inlet cowl.
(3) Examine the surfaces of the fan cowl doors. Look for delamination, gouges, cracks, holes, punctures and broken fibers.
(a) If you find damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual for allowable damage limits and repair procedures or contact Collins Aerospace for disposition.
(4) Examine the upper and lower longerons and the stiffeners on the fan cowl doors. Look for abrasion, gouges, scratches and nicks. Look for disbonds on the lower longeron.
(a) If you find damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual for allowable damage limits and repair procedures or contact Collins Aerospace for disposition.
(5) Examine the axial locators on the fan cowl doors. Look for cracks, gouges, holes and distortion.
(a) If you find damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual for allowable damage limits and repair procedures or contact Collins Aerospace for disposition.
(6) Examine the wear strips and the rubstrip panels on the edges of the fan cowl doors. Look for cracks, holes, gouges and loose or missing rivets.
(a) If you find damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual for allowable damage limits and repair procedures or contact Collins Aerospace for disposition.
(7) Examine the hoist points on the fan cowl doors for damaged or missing screws.
(a) If you find damage, replace the damaged or missing screws as follows:
1 Remove the damaged screw from the fan cowl door.
2 Apply a thin layer of anti-seize compound (Material No.PU5-0005) or anti-seize compound (Material No.PU5-0005A) or anti-seize compound (Material No.PU5-0005B) to the threads of the new screw.
3 Install the new screw in the fan cowl door.
4 TORQUE the screw to between 60.5 and 55 lbf.in (0.68 and 0.62 m.daN )

(8) Examine the strakes on the fan cowl doors. If you find damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual for allowable damage limits and repair procedures or contact Collins Aerospace for disposition.
(9) Examine the hinges on the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-210-804).
(10) Examine the fan cowl door latches and latch housing on the left fan cowl door (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-11-220-801).
(11) If the baulk bracket is there, examine the baulk bracket assembly above the aft fan cowl door latch on the left fan cowl door (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-10-210-801).
(12) Examine the fan cowl door keepers and keeper housings (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-21-200-802).
(13) Examine the forward Hold Open Rod (HOR) on the fan cowl doors. Look for nicks, scratches, dents and other damage.
(a) If you find damage, replace the forward hold-open rod (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-08-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-08-400-801).
(14) Examine the aft hold-open rod on the fan cowl doors. Look for nicks, scratches, dents and other damage.
(a) If you find damage, replace the aft hold-open rod (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-09-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-09-400-801), or
(b) Contact Collins Aerospace for disposition.
(15) Examine the oil tank access door on the left fan cowl door. Look for abrasion, gouges, scratches and nicks. Look for disbonds on the access door.
(a) If you find damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual for allowable damage limits and repair procedures or contact Collins Aerospace for disposition.
(16) Examine the proximity sensor harness on the right fan cowl door. Look for corrosion, wear, cracks in the connectors and other damage.
(a) If you find damage, replace the harness (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-61-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-61-400-801), or
(b) Contact Collins Aerospace for disposition.
(17) Examine the proximity sensors on the right fan cowl door. Look for scratches, wear and other damage.
(a) If you find damage, replace the sensor (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-22-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-22-400-801), or
(b) Contact Collins Aerospace for disposition.
(18) Examine the push-open device on the outboard fan cowl doors. Look for wear, cracks, scratches and other damage.
(a) If you find damage, replace the push-open device (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-13-000-802) and (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-13-400-802), or
(b) Contact Collins Aerospace for disposition.
(19) If installed, examine the interphone jack assembly. Look for corrosion, wear, cracks in the connector and other damage.
(a) If you find damage, replace the interphone jack assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 23-44-41-000-803) and (Ref. AMM TASK 23-44-41-400-803), or
(b) Contact Collins Aerospace for disposition.
(20) Examine the assembly for unwanted objects, damage and correct assembly.
5. Close-upWARNING:

GET INSTRUCTIONS FROM YOUR EMPLOYER ON WHICH PPE IS NECESSARY.
CAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
(1) Do not discard a part until you are sure there are no repairs available. If you reject a part and no repair is available, contact Collins Aerospace for disposition. (2) Find the fan cowl doors behind the inlet cowl.

(15) Examine the oil tank access door on the left fan cowl door. Look for abrasion, gouges, scratches and nicks. Look for disbonds on the access door.
(a) If you find damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual for allowable damage limits and repair procedures or contact Collins Aerospace for disposition.
(16) Examine the proximity sensor harness on the right fan cowl door. Look for corrosion, wear, cracks in the connectors and other damage.
(a) If you find damage, replace the harness (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-61-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-61-400-801), or
(b) Contact Collins Aerospace for disposition.
(17) Examine the proximity sensors on the right fan cowl door. Look for scratches, wear and other damage.
(a) If you find damage, replace the sensor (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-22-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-22-400-801), or
(b) Contact Collins Aerospace for disposition.
(18) Examine the push-open device on the outboard fan cowl doors. Look for wear, cracks, scratches and other damage.
(a) If you find damage, replace the push-open device (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-13-000-802) and (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-13-400-802), or
(b) Contact Collins Aerospace for disposition.
(19) If installed, examine the interphone jack assembly. Look for corrosion, wear, cracks in the connector and other damage.
(a) If you find damage, replace the interphone jack assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 23-44-41-000-803) and (Ref. AMM TASK 23-44-41-400-803), or
(b) Contact Collins Aerospace for disposition.
(20) Examine the assembly for unwanted objects, damage and correct assembly.
