Subtask 78-36-00-941-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 78-36-00-010-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.

B. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040):
(a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)
437AL, 438AR
(b) FOR [1000EM2] (ENGINE-2)
447AL, 448AR.
(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position.
Subtask 78-36-00-040-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040):
(a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)

(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position.
C. Make the thrust reverser unserviceable (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-481-041).
4. ProcedureNOTE: Do not close the fan cowl doors.
Subtask 78-36-00-010-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Opening of the Thrust Reverser Doors
(a) Push in on the snap to free the latch handle.
(b) Pull down on the latch handle to disengage the latch hook from its attachment point.
Subtask 78-36-00-020-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL CAUTION:
DO NOT OPEN THE THRUST REVERSER DOORS IF THE WIND SPEED IS MORE THAN 40 KNOTS.
(1) Release each of the four door latches of the thrust reverser as follows: (a) Push in on the snap to free the latch handle.
(b) Pull down on the latch handle to disengage the latch hook from its attachment point.
B. Remove the cap:
Subtask 78-36-00-611-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL CAUTION:
DO NOT USE A HYDRAULIC PUMP WITH A FLOW MORE THAN 3.66 IN.3. (60 CM3) PER EACH HAND PUMP TRAVEL OR DAMAGE OF THE HYDRAULIC JUNCTION BOXES COULD RESULT.
CAUTION:
ONLY USE MIL-L-23699 TYPE 2 OR MIL-L-7808 TYPE 1 OIL IN THE HYDRAULIC HAND PUMP. IF YOU USE OTHER TYPES OF OIL, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE HYDRAULIC THRUST-REVERSER COWL OPENING-ACTUATOR (REFER TO CFM SB 79-0001 FOR ALL APPROVED OILS).
(1) Remove cap from quick disconnect of the hydraulic junction box. C. Make sure that the reservoir of the HIX4001 PUMP-ACTUATOR, FAN REVERSER is filled with engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
Subtask 78-36-00-480-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL D. Connect the Hose
Subtask 78-36-00-010-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
SUDDEN CLOSURE OF HALF DOORS COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY TO PERSONNEL. ALL PERSONNEL MUST BE CLEAR OF AREA UNDER AND BETWEEN HALF DOORS DURING OPENING OR CLOSING OF REVERSER.
(1) Connect the hose of hand pump to the quick disconnect on the hydraulic junction box. E. Opening of the L or R Door to the 35 Degree Position (Normal Maintenance Position) or to the 45 Degree Position (Engine Change Position)
(b) Attach the hold-open rod as follows:
(2) Open the half door to the 45 degree position (for engine change) as follows:
(a) On the flaps panel 114VU:
(b) Operate the HIX4001 PUMP-ACTUATOR, FAN REVERSER to open the half door to the 45 degree position.
(c) Remove the red bolt and nut from the 45 degree lug of the attachment bracket on the forward frame of the half door. Temporarily attach the nut to the bolt and tighten it.
(d) Attach the hold-open rod as follows:
2 Use quick release pin to attach the hold-open rod to 45 degree (UPPER) lug of the attachment bracket located on the forward frame of the half door.
Subtask 78-36-00-010-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL NOTE: To open a L or R door to the 35 degree position (normal maintenance position), do the step (1).
To open a L or R door to the 45 degree position (engine change position), do the step (2).
(1) Open the half door to the 35 degree position as follows: To open a L or R door to the 45 degree position (engine change position), do the step (2).
WARNING:
SUDDEN CLOSURE OF HALF DOORS COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY TO PERSONNEL. ALL PERSONNEL MUST BE CLEAR OF AREA UNDER AND BETWEEN HALF DOORS DURING OPENING OR CLOSING OF REVERSER.
(a) Operate the HIX4001 PUMP-ACTUATOR, FAN REVERSER to open the half door to the 35 degree position. (b) Attach the hold-open rod as follows:
WARNING:
YOU MUST HOLD EACH HALF DOOR OPENED WITH THE HOLD-OPEN ROD TO PREVENT SERIOUS INJURY DUE TO ACCIDENTAL CLOSURE.
1 Remove the quick release pin that attaches the hold-open rod to the upper bracket on the adapter ring assembly (FAN CASE). CAUTION:
DO NOT MOVE THE HOLD-OPEN ROD TO THE 45 DEGREE (UPPER) LUG OF THE ATTACHMENT BRACKET ON THE HALF DOOR OR DAMAGE CAN OCCUR.
a Use the quick release pin to attach the hold-open rod to the 35 degree (LOWER) lug of the attachment bracket located on the forward frame of the half door. (2) Open the half door to the 45 degree position (for engine change) as follows:
(a) On the flaps panel 114VU:
WARNING:
SUDDEN CLOSURE OF HALF DOORS COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY TO PERSONNEL. ALL PERSONNEL MUST BE CLEAR OF AREA UNDER AND BETWEEN HALF DOORS DURING OPENING OR CLOSING OF REVERSER.
CAUTION:
RETRACT WING SLATS BEFORE OPENING THRUST REVERSER OR DAMAGE CAN OCCUR.
1 Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate wing slats. (b) Operate the HIX4001 PUMP-ACTUATOR, FAN REVERSER to open the half door to the 45 degree position.
(c) Remove the red bolt and nut from the 45 degree lug of the attachment bracket on the forward frame of the half door. Temporarily attach the nut to the bolt and tighten it.
(d) Attach the hold-open rod as follows:
WARNING:
YOU MUST HOLD EACH HALF DOOR OPENED WITH THE HOLD-OPEN ROD TO PREVENT SERIOUS INJURY DUE TO ACCIDENTAL CLOSURE.
1 Remove the quick release pin that attaches the hold-open rod to the lower bracket on the adapter ring assembly (FAN CASE). 2 Use quick release pin to attach the hold-open rod to 45 degree (UPPER) lug of the attachment bracket located on the forward frame of the half door.
F. Open the half door to the 45-degree position as follows:
(a) Make sure that the slat and the flap are in the fully retracted position.
(b) Do one of the steps that follow:
1 Install the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION or the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS on the flap slat lever, or
2 Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the wing slats.
(2) Operate the hand pump to open the half door to the 45-degree position.
(3) Remove the red bolt and nut from the lug of the top lug of the hold-open rod attach fitting on the inner cowl. Put the nut on the bolt and tighten.
(Sheet 2, Detail D).
(4) Remove the quick release pin that attaches the hold-open rod to the lower bracket.
(5) Move the hold-open rod to the bracket of the forward frame.
(6) Attach the hold-open rod with the quick release pin.
Subtask 78-36-00-110-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
SUDDEN CLOSURE OF HALF DOORS COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY TO PERSONNEL. ALL PERSONNEL MUST BE CLEAR OF AREA UNDER AND BETWEEN HALF DOORS DURING OPENING OR CLOSING OF REVERSER.
WARNING:
YOU MUST HOLD EACH HALF DOOR OPENED WITH THE HOLD-OPEN ROD TO PREVENT SERIOUS INJURY DUE TO ACCIDENTAL CLOSURE.
CAUTION:
RETRACT WING SLATS BEFORE OPENING THRUST REVERSER OR DAMAGE CAN OCCUR.
(1) On FLAPS panel 114VU:(a) Make sure that the slat and the flap are in the fully retracted position.
(b) Do one of the steps that follow:
1 Install the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION or the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS on the flap slat lever, or
2 Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the wing slats.
(2) Operate the hand pump to open the half door to the 45-degree position.
(3) Remove the red bolt and nut from the lug of the top lug of the hold-open rod attach fitting on the inner cowl. Put the nut on the bolt and tighten.
(Sheet 2, Detail D).
(4) Remove the quick release pin that attaches the hold-open rod to the lower bracket.
(5) Move the hold-open rod to the bracket of the forward frame.
(6) Attach the hold-open rod with the quick release pin.
G. Cleaning the Door Opening Actuator Rod.
(1) Use isopropyl alcohol (Material No.CP1041) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) to clean the actuator rod.
(2) Make sure that you clean around the end of the cylinder where additional debris will collect.
(3) After the cleaning, use hydraulic fluid wipes as follows:
(a) Wipe the piston and cylinder/actuator cap rod end with isopropyl alcohol (Material No.CP1041) .
(b) Wipe the piston.
Subtask 78-36-00-680-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Use isopropyl alcohol (Material No.CP1041) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) to clean the actuator rod.
(2) Make sure that you clean around the end of the cylinder where additional debris will collect.
(3) After the cleaning, use hydraulic fluid wipes as follows:
(a) Wipe the piston and cylinder/actuator cap rod end with isopropyl alcohol (Material No.CP1041) .
(b) Wipe the piston.
CAUTION:
ONLY USE MIL-L-23699 TYPE 2 OR MIL-L7808 TYPE 1 OIL (REFER TO CFM SB 79-0001 FOR ALL APPROVED OILS).
1 Wipe the piston with engine oil (Material No.CP2442) . H. Drain the fluid from the door opening actuator.
(2) Let the fluid in the actuator drain into the hand pump for a minimum of one minute.
Subtask 78-36-00-080-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL NOTE: The fluid should always be drained from the actuator, if not, there will not be enough fluid in the pump to open the other door. If more fluid is added to the pump there will be too much fluid in the pump when the door is closed.
(1) Open the relief valve on the HIX4001 PUMP-ACTUATOR, FAN REVERSER. (2) Let the fluid in the actuator drain into the hand pump for a minimum of one minute.
I. Disconnect the Hose of the Hand Pump from the Quick Disconnect on the Hydraulic Junction Box
