   (1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

A. Detailed Visual Inspection of the Forward Engine Mount Assembly
NOTE: You can use the MIRROR - INSPECTION and the FLASHLIGHT - HIGHPOWER.
   (1) Get access to the nozzle 12 o'clock area (engine junction area).
   (2) Clean any dirt or unwanted material from the forward engine mount with P05-005wipe, lint-free.
   (3) Do the visual inspection of the forward-beam assembly (4) for:
  • Cracks
  • Damage
  • Scratches
  • Corrosion.
   (4) Do the visual inspection of the forward-mount yoke (7) for:
  • Cracks
  • Damage
  • Scratches
  • Corrosion.
   (5) Do the visual inspection of the two thrust links (2) for:
  • Cracks
  • Damage
  • Scratches
  • Corrosion.
   (6) Do the visual inspection of the forward-mount shackle assembly (6) for:
  • Cracks
  • Damage
  • Scratches
  • Corrosion.
   (7) Do the visual inspection of the snout radius (9) for:
  • Cracks
  • Damage
  • Scratches
  • Corrosion.
   (8) Do the visual inspection of the thrust link bolts (3) and (8) for:
  • Cracks
  • Damage
  • Scratches
  • Corrosion
  • Good installation (no play permitted).
     (a) Take care of the pin and screw positions:
  • For the thrust link bolts (3), the pin and screw shall be installed on the engine side.
  • For the thrust link bolts (8), the pin and screw shall be installed on the yoke side.
  • Presence and good condition of the cotter pin.
   (9) Examine the two shackle lower pins (5) for:
  • Cracks
  • Damage
  • Scratches
  • Corrosion
  • Good installation (no play permitted).
  • Presence and good condition of the stoppers, screws, nuts and cotter pins.
     (a) The head of the screw must be upward.
     (b) The screw must be placed, in one of a bushing hole, in a range of plus or minus 30 degrees versus the vertical axis.
   (10) Do the visual inspection of the bolt (10) for:
  • Cracks
  • Damage
  • Scratches
  • Corrosion
  • Good installation (no radial play permitted).
     (a) The screw must be installed from the right to the left.
  • Presence and good condition of the cotter pin.
   (11) Do the visual inspection of the fail safe pin (12) for:
  • Cracks
  • Damage
  • Scratches
  • Corrosion.
   (12) Do the visual inspection of the forward-mount pylon bolt (1) and their retainers for:
  • Cracks
  • Damage
  • Scratches
  • Corrosion
  • Good installation (no play permitted).
   (13) Do the visual inspection of the castellated nut and the lock washer for damage and correct installation.
NOTE: The castellated nut and the lock washer hold the bearing in the shackle (11) on the forward engine-mount beam.
