A. Lubricate the V-Groove
(1) Inspect the J-Ring on the forward position of the thrust reverser.
Look for a clean, thin coating of grease covering the entire length and depth of each blade.
(2) Inspect the V-Groove and circumference. Look for a clean, thin coating of grease covering the entire length and depth of each groove.
(3) If all mating surfaces are lubricated and are clear of excess grease and dirt, no further action is required. If any mating surface is dry, or if excess grease and dirt, or other debris is detected on blade or in grooves, continue this procedure.
(4) Clean mating surfaces. Use a clean, dry wiping cloth to remove all dirt, excess old lubricant, and any other foreign matter from all "J" and "V" grooves.
(5) Apply a thin coating of Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Mineral Oil base Grease-Anti-Fretting - - (Material No.03FDG1) or Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) , to all mating surfaces of the "J" ring and "V" grooves. Avoid excess which could squeese out when doors are closed. Method of prescribed application is to wipe grease on with a clean cloth or use a clean brush.

Subtask 78-36-00-020-055-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL CAUTION:
DO NOT USE A HYDRAULIC PUMP WITH A FLOW MORE THAN 3.66 IN.3. (60 CM3) PER EACH HAND PUMP TRAVEL OR DAMAGE OF THE HYDRAULIC JUNCTION BOXES COULD RESULT.
(1) Connect the hose of the HIX4001 PUMP-ACTUATOR, FAN REVERSER to the quick disconnect on the hydraulic junction boxes. D. Remove hold-open rod as follows:
(2) Attach the hold-open rod to the stow bracket on the adapter ring assembly with the quick release pin.
(3) If the half doors were opened to the 45 degrees position:
(b) TORQUE the nut to between 43.5 and 26 lbf.in (0.49 and 0.29 m.daN )
.
(4) Open the relief valve on the HIX4001 PUMP-ACTUATOR, FAN REVERSER to let the thrust reverser door close.
(5) Push up on each of the four latch handles (forward to aft) to close the thrust reverser doors.
Subtask 78-36-00-680-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
SUDDEN CLOSURE OF HALF DOORS COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY TO PERSONNEL. ALL PERSONNEL MUST BE CLEAR OF AREA UNDER AND BETWEEN HALF DOORS DURING OPENING OR CLOSING OF REVERSER.
CAUTION:
INSTALL THE QUICK RELEASE PIN WITH THE HEAD FACING OUTWARDS TO PREVENT DAMAGES.
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THE RING ON THE QUICK RELEASE PIN IS DOWN. THE RING RUBS ON THE TUBES. IF THE RING IS NOT DOWN IT CAN RUB ON THE TUBES AND CAUSE DAMAGE.
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE WHILE CLOSING THE REVERSER COWL THAT THE CABLE THAT ATTACHES THE QUICK RELEASED PIN (UPPER AND LOWER) OF THE HOLD OPEN ROD IS NOT TRAPPED BETWEEN V-GROOVE AND J-RING OR DAMAGE MAY OCCUR TO BOTH PARTS.
(1) Remove quick release pin from attachment bracket on half door. (2) Attach the hold-open rod to the stow bracket on the adapter ring assembly with the quick release pin.
(3) If the half doors were opened to the 45 degrees position:
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE RED BOLT AND NUT ARE INSTALLED IN THE UPPER LUG OF THE HOLD-OPEN ROD FITTING BEFORE YOU CLOSE THE THRUST REVERSER DOOR. IF THE RED BOLT AND NUT ARE NOT INSTALLED, IT CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO ENGINE COMPONENTS.
(a) Put the red bolt and nut in the upper lug of the hold open rod fitting on the inner cowl.
E. Drain the fluid from the door opening actuator.
(2) Let the fluid in the actuator drain into the hand pump for a minimum of one minute.
Subtask 78-36-00-080-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL NOTE: The fluid should always be drained from the actuator, if not, there will not be enough fluid in the pump to close the other door. If more fluid is added to the pump there will be too much fluid in the pump when the door is closed.
(1) Open the relief valve on the HIX4001 PUMP-ACTUATOR, FAN REVERSER. (2) Let the fluid in the actuator drain into the hand pump for a minimum of one minute.
F. Disconnection of the Hose
(1) Disconnect the hose of the HIX4001 PUMP-ACTUATOR, FAN REVERSER from the quick disconnect on the hydraulic junction box.
(2) Put the cap on the quick disconnect.
5. Close-up(1) Disconnect the hose of the HIX4001 PUMP-ACTUATOR, FAN REVERSER from the quick disconnect on the hydraulic junction box.
