A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
   (3) On overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
   (1) Open the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010):
     (a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)

   (2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position.

C. Deactivate the Thrust Reverser
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) IS DEACTIVATED BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND THE THRUST REVERSER. IF THE HCU IS NOT DEACTIVATED, THERE IS A RISK OF UNWANTED THRUST REVERSER OPERATION WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (1) Deactivate the thrust reverser Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-012).

E. Clean the aft engine mount
   (1) Clean the aft engine mount with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with cleaning fluid (Material No.V01-002) .
4. Procedure

A. Detailed Visual Inspection of the Aft Engine Mount

NOTE: The nuts for the beam adjoining bolts are designed to tighten against the shoulders of the bolts and not against the outer beam. For this reason, there may be some noticeable end play or looseness of the bolts even after the nuts have been properly torqued.
   (1) Clean any dirt or unwanted material from the aft engine mount with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) . Use the FLASHLIGHT and the MIRROR - INSPECTION to examine areas of the engine mount that are hard to see.
   (2) Do this inspection on those areas of the aft engine mount that are visible without the removal of any hardware. Visually examine for cracks and corrosion:

1.Visually examine the mount beam assembly (1), the link assemblies (2) and all of the anti-rotation and retainer plates (4) for:

A.Cracks
No cracks are allowed.
If cracks are found, remove and replace the mount assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 71-22-11-000-010) and (Ref. AMM TASK 71-22-11-400-010).
NOTE: Discard the damaged part and send the mount assembly to shop for inspection/check.
B.Corrosion
Discoloration caused by corrosion is acceptable provided there is no pitting or reduction in the cross-sectional area of the component.
If corrosion is found with pitting and/or reduction in the cross-section area, replace the damaged parts. If the bearing ball does not move freely, replace the bearing assembly.
NOTE: Discard the damaged part and send the mount assembly to shop for inspection/check.
NOTE: For all other findings (nicks, scratches, gouge,...) send the part to shop.

B. Visual Inspection of the Aft Engine Mount

   (1) Visually examine the link assemblies (2) for correct installation to the turbine case and to the mount beam assembly.
   (2) Visually examine all of the anti-rotation and retainer plates (4) for obvious damage and correct installation. Replace the damaged parts.
