Removal of the Aft Engine Mount


WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

CAUTION: THIS PART IS A REMOVABLE STRUCTURAL COMPONENT (RSC), WHICH CAN BE MOVED BETWEEN AIRCRAFT. THUS IT CAN HAVE DIFFERENT OPERATION CONDITIONS AND A DIFFERENT LIFE RECORD (FLIGHT HOURS/FLIGHT CYCLES/CALENDAR) FROM THE AIRCRAFT IT IS INSTALLED ON OR REMOVED FROM. THE OPERATOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SPECIFIC TRACKING AND CONTINUED AIRWORTHINESS OF REMOVABLE STRUCTURAL COMPONENTS. INCORRECT MAINTENANCE OF THESE COMPONENTS CAN CAUSE A RISK FOR THE FLIGHT SAFETY.

A. Remove the Power Plant
   (1) Removal of the power plant (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-20-000-040).
4. Procedure

A. Attach the Aft engine mount sling
F Aft Engine Mount ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Attach the IAE1N20015 SLING, AFT MOUNT (10) to a hoist and position over the aft engine mount (1).
   (2) Attach the IAE1N20015 SLING, AFT MOUNT (10) to the aft engine mount (1) with two toll bolts (12) and washers (13). Tighten bolts.
NOTE: Use the two holes diagonally opposite of each other
   (3) Raise the hoist to straighten the sling.

B. Remove the aft engine mount.
F Aft Engine Mount ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
CAUTION: THE AFT ENGINE MOUNT WEIGHS 81.6 LBS (37 KGS).
   (1) Remove the nuts (9), washers (7) and (8), bolts (6) and retainers (5) from the link assemblies (2):
     (a) Attach the points on the engine mount flange.
   (2) Remove the inner pins (3) and the outer pins (4) from the link assemblies (2):
     (a) Attach the points on the engine mount flange.
     (b) If the pins are hard to remove:
       1 Protect the engine and the surrounding equipment.
       2 Apply penetrating oil (Material No.VU5-0023) or equivalent as many times necessary around the pins.
       3 Wait for the product to penetrate as long as necessary.
       4 Remove the inner pins (3) and the outer pins (4) from the link assemblies (2).
     (c) If you still cannot remove the pins, contact Collins Aerospace for instructions.
   (3) Remove the aft engine mount (1).

C. Remove the Aft engine mount sling
   (1) Remove the bolts (12) and washers (13) from the aft engine mount.
