B. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):

(2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.
4. Procedure(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):
(a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

(2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.
CAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
Subtask 71-61-10-210-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL A. Visually examine the inlet cowl.
(1) Do not discard a part until you are sure there are no repairs available. If you reject a part and no repair is available, contact United Technologies Aerospace Systems (UTAS) for disposition.
(2) Examine the lip skin of the inlet cowl. Look for corrosion, nicks, gouges, scratches, holes, punctures and dents. Look for loose or missing fasteners. If you find damage, refer to the Nacelle Structural Repair Manual for allowable damage limits and repair procedures or contact UTAS for disposition.
(3) Examine the inner barrel panel. Look for corrosion, delamination, disbands, abrasion, dents, scratches, nicks, gouges, cracks, holes and punctures. If you find damage, refer to the Nacelle Structural Repair Manual for allowable damage limits and repair procedures or contact UTAS for disposition.
(4) Examine the LH and RH outer barrel panels. Look for corrosion, delamination, dents, nicks, cracks, gouges, scratches, holes, punctures and broken fibers. Look for loose or missing fasteners. Look for scratches that go through the copper mesh. If you find damage, refer to the Nacelle Structural Repair Manual for allowable damage limits and repair procedures or contact UTAS for disposition.
(5) Examine the edges of the outer barrel panels for erosion and other damage. If you find damage, refer to the Nacelle Structural Repair Manual for allowable damage limits and repair procedures or contact UTAS for disposition.
(6) Examine the heat shield. Look for corrosion, delamination, dents, nicks, cracks, gouges, scratches, holes, punctures and broken fibers. Look for loose or missing fasteners. Look for scratches that go through the copper mesh. If you find damage, refer to the Nacelle Structural Repair Manual for allowable damage limits and repair procedures or contact UTAS for disposition.
(7) Examine the screws in the hoist inserts on the inlet cowl for damage or missing screws. If you find damage, replace the damaged or missing screws. Torque the screws to to between 35 and 31.5 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.36 m.daN )

(8) Examine the aft bulkhead web panels and the aft bulkhead panel. Look for corrosion, dents, nicks, gouges, scratches, holes and punctures. Look for loose or missing fasteners. If you find damage, refer to the Nacelle Structural Repair Manual for allowable damage limits and repair procedures or contact UTAS for disposition.
(9) Examine the edges of the aft bulkhead web panels for damage. If you find damage, refer to the Nacelle Structural Repair Manual for allowable damage limits and repair procedures or contact UTAS for disposition.
(10) Examine the attach ring for corrosion, nicks, gouges, holes, and scratches. If you find damage, refer to the Nacelle Structural Repair Manual for allowable damage limits and repair procedures or contact UTAS for disposition.
(11) Examine the edges of the attach ring for damage. If you find damage, refer to the Nacelle Structural Repair Manual for allowable damage limits and repair procedures or contact UTAS for disposition.
(12) Examine the ground straps, attachment bolts, spacers, alignment pins, washers, and nuts for corrosion, wear, cracks, or missing parts. If you find damage, replace the damaged or missing part (Ref. AMM TASK 71-61-10-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 71-61-10-400-801).
(13) Examine the assembly for foreign objects, damage, and correct assembly.

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Remove the access platform(s).
(3) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-802):

(4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Remove the access platform(s).
(3) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-802):

(4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
Inlet Cowl - Visual Inspection
