Removal of the Inlet Cowl

THIS PART IS A REMOVABLE STRUCTURAL COMPONENT (RSC), WHICH CAN BE MOVED BETWEEN AIRCRAFT. THUS IT CAN HAVE DIFFERENT OPERATION CONDITIONS AND A DIFFERENT LIFE RECORD (FLIGHT HOURS/FLIGHT CYCLES/CALENDAR) FROM THE AIRCRAFT IT IS INSTALLED ON OR REMOVED FROM. A. Safety Precautions
(1) Do the procedure to prevent engine motoring and to stop the electrical supply to the Electronic Engine Control (EEC)
(Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-832).

B. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):

(2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.
4. Procedure(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):

(2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.
CAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
Subtask 71-61-10-480-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL A. Installation of the Inlet Cowl Sling on the Inlet Cowl
(1) Install the 636-1100-1GSE INLET COWL SLING on the inlet cowl (1).
(a) Remove the four insert bolts (17) from the four hoist points on the inlet cowl (1). Keep the bolts (17) to install them again.
(b) Attach the 636-1100-1GSE INLET COWL SLING to the inlet cowl (1). Refer to the instructions of the manufacturer.
Subtask 71-61-10-020-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL Subtask 71-61-10-020-059-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Install the 636-1100-1GSE INLET COWL SLING on the inlet cowl (1).
(a) Remove the four insert bolts (17) from the four hoist points on the inlet cowl (1). Keep the bolts (17) to install them again.
(b) Attach the 636-1100-1GSE INLET COWL SLING to the inlet cowl (1). Refer to the instructions of the manufacturer.
C. Disconnect the Four Ground Straps on the Inlet Cowl from the Engine Case (Ref. AMM TASK 71-61-13-000-801)
Subtask 71-61-10-020-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL D. Disconnect the Wire Harness from the Inlet Cowl
(1) Put COVER - PROTECTION on the connector on the wire harness and on the connector on the inlet cowl (1).

E. Disconnect the Forward Nacelle Anti-Icing (NAI) Duct from the Inlet Cowl
(1) Remove the insulation covers from the forward NAI duct and the inlet cowl (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-000-807).
(2) Remove the coupling (9) that attaches the forward NAI duct to the inlet cowl (1).
(3) Put COVER - PROTECTION on the forward NAI duct and on the inlet cowl (1).
Subtask 71-61-10-020-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the insulation covers from the forward NAI duct and the inlet cowl (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-000-807).
(2) Remove the coupling (9) that attaches the forward NAI duct to the inlet cowl (1).
(3) Put COVER - PROTECTION on the forward NAI duct and on the inlet cowl (1).
F. Remove the Inlet Cowl from the Engine
(2) Remove the 40 nuts (10), the 80 washers (11), the 40 spacers (12) and the 40 bolts (13) that attach the inlet cowl (1) to the engine case.
(3) Remove the inlet cowl (1) from the engine.
(4) Carefully put the inlet cowl (1) on the 636-1100-2GSE INLET COWL DOLLY. Refer to the instructions of the manufacturer.
Subtask 71-61-10-080-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE INLET COWL IS SUFFICIENTLY HELD DURING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION. THE INLET COWL WEIGHS APPROXIMATELY 300 LB (136 KG). IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS, INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE COMPONENTS CAN OCCUR.
(1) Carefully lift the 636-1100-1GSE INLET COWL SLING until it holds the weight of the inlet cowl (1). (2) Remove the 40 nuts (10), the 80 washers (11), the 40 spacers (12) and the 40 bolts (13) that attach the inlet cowl (1) to the engine case.
(3) Remove the inlet cowl (1) from the engine.
CAUTION:
BE CAREFUL NOT TO HIT OR RUB THE ANTI-ICE DUCT WHEN YOU REMOVE/ INSTALL THE INLET COWL FROM/ON THE ENGINE CASE. THE INLET COWL IS HEAVY AND CAN EASILY CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ANTI-ICE DUCT.
(a) Carefully lift and remove the inlet cowl (1) from the engine case with the 636-1100-1GSE INLET COWL SLING. Refer to the instructions of the manufacturer. (4) Carefully put the inlet cowl (1) on the 636-1100-2GSE INLET COWL DOLLY. Refer to the instructions of the manufacturer.
G. Removal of the Inlet Cowl Sling
(1) Remove the 636-1100-1GSE INLET COWL SLING from the inlet cowl (1). Refer to the instructions of the manufacturer.
(2) Install the four insert bolts (17) in the four hoist points on the inlet cowl (1). Tighten the bolts (17) with your hand.
Subtask 71-61-10-020-056-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the 636-1100-1GSE INLET COWL SLING from the inlet cowl (1). Refer to the instructions of the manufacturer.
(2) Install the four insert bolts (17) in the four hoist points on the inlet cowl (1). Tighten the bolts (17) with your hand.
H. Examine the two Alignment Pins for Damage
(1) If you find damage, remove the two nuts (16) and the two washers (15) that attach the damaged alignment pins (14) to the engine. Remove the damaged alignment pins (14).
