3. Job Set-up

A. Safety Precautions
   (1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
   (2) Make sure that the safety devices are installed on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
   (3) On panel 400VU:
     (a) Make sure that landing-gear control lever 6GA is in the DOWN position.
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear.
   (4) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate the brakes.
   (5) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to pressurize the hydraulic systems.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the applicable MLG is lifted (Ref. AMM TASK 07-12-00-582-002) or the aircraft is lifted on jacks (Ref. AMM TASK 07-11-00-581-001).
   (2) Make sure that the electrical harnesses are released from the applicable slave link assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-43-000-001).
   (3) Make sure that the applicable proximity sensor 21GA(20GA) is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-73-000-001).
   (4) If necessary, make sure that the 1M electrical harness is released from the MLG axle for access (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-43-000-003).
   (5) Make sure that the hydraulic dressings are released from the applicable slave link assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-12-000-001).
   (6) Make sure that the applicable brake is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 32-42-27-000-001).
   (7) Make sure that the Yellow and Green Hydraulic systems are depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
   (8) Make sure that the Yellow and the Green Hydraulic reservoirs are depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).

C. Flight Configuration Precautions
   (1) If the electrical power is not necessary for other maintenance tasks, make sure that the aircraft electrical circuits are de-energized (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
   (2) If the electrical power is necessary, make sure that the flight configuration precautions (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-001) are done before the LGCIU circuit breakers are opened.

4. Procedure
Subtask 32-11-12-420-054-A
A. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area with a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
   (2) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
   (3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.

B. Installation of the MLG Slave Link Assembly
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
   (1) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Hydraulic (Material No.06LDG6) to the:
  • Mating surface of the bracket (2)
  • Shank of the pin (1)
  • Spacers (16) and (19)
  • Internal surfaces of the sliding piston lug and the main fitting lug
  • Internal surface of the upper slave-link assembly (8) that touches the pin (1)
  • Internal surface of the bearings of the lower slave-link assembly (12)
  • Washers (5), (4) and (11)
  • Shank of the bolts (3), (17) and (18).
   (2) Install the bracket (2) on the upper slave-link assembly (8) as follows:
     (a) Put the bracket (2) in position on the upper slave-link assembly (8).
     (b) Install the washers (4) and the bolts (3).
     (c) TORQUE the bolts (3) to between 1.0 and 0.8 m.daN (88.50 and 70.80 lbf.in ) T.
     (d) Safety the bolts (3) together with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
   (3) Put the upper slave-link assembly (8) in position on the main fitting lug.
   (4) Install the pin (1), the washer (5) and the nut (6).
   (5) TORQUE the nut (6) to between 2.0 and 1.6 m.daN (14.75 and 11.80 lbf.ft )
T.
   (6) Make sure that the upper slave-link assembly (8) is free to turn on the pin (1).
   (7) Safety the nut (6) with the new
AIPC 32-11-11-53-095 COTTER PIN (7).
   (8) Put the lower slave-link assembly (12) in position on the sliding piston lug.
   (9) Install the spacer (16), the bolt (17), the washer (15) and the nut (13).
   (10) TORQUE the nut (13) to between 2.7 and 2.1 m.daN (19.91 and 15.49 lbf.ft )
T.
   (11) Make sure that the lower slave-link assembly (12) is free to turn on the bolt (17).
   (12) Safety the nut (13) with the new
AIPC 32-11-11-53-125 COTTER PIN (14).
   (13) Align the upper slave-link assembly (8) with the lower slave-link assembly (12).
   (14) Install the spacer (19), the bolt (18), the washer (11) and the nut (9).
   (15) TORQUE the nut (9) to between 2.7 and 2.1 m.daN (19.91 and 15.49 lbf.ft )
T.
   (16) Safety the nut (9) with the new
AIPC 32-11-11-53-125 COTTER PIN (10).
   (17) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay Landing Gear (Material No.
06AAC5) or Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Quick Curing - (Material No.06ABF1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) to the:
  • Head of the pin (1)
  • Heads of the bolts (3), (17) and (18)
  • End of the pin (1), the nut (6) and the washer (5)
  • End of the bolt (17), the nut (13) and the washer (15)
  • End of the bolt (18), the nut (9) and the washer (11)
  • Area around the joint between the bracket (2) and upper slave-link assembly (8).

B. Installation of the MLG Slave Link Assembly
   (1) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Hydraulic (Material No.06LDG6) to the:
  • Threads of the nut (7), mating surface of the washer (5) and the pin (1)
  • Mating surfaces of the bracket (2) and the upper slave-link assembly (9)
  • Internal surface of the spacers (17) and (20)
  • Internal surfaces of the sliding piston lug and the main fitting lug
  • Mating surface of the washer (4)
  • Bore of the lower slave-link assembly (13), where the bolt (19) will touch
  • Shank and threads of the bolts (3), (18) and (19).
   (2) Put the upper slave-link assembly (9) in position on the main fitting lug.
   (3) Install the pin (1), the washer (6) and the nut (7). If necessary, install the washer(s) (5).
   (4) TORQUE the nut (7) to between 2.0 and 1.6 m.daN (14.75 and 11.80 lbf.ft ) T.
   (5) Safety the nut (7) with the new
AIPC 32-11-11-53-095 COTTER PIN (8) or the new AIPC 32-11-85-53-095 COTTER PIN (8).
   (6) Put the lower slave-link assembly (13) in position on the sliding piston lug.
   (7) Install the spacer (17), the bolt (18), the washer (16) and the nut (14).
NOTE: The head of the bolt (18) must point to the:
  • Inboard side for the left MLG
  • Outboard side for the right MLG.
   (8) Use the
T14500 WRENCH-CROWFOOT and TORQUE the nut (14) to between 2.7 and 2.1 m.daN (19.91 and 15.49 lbf.ft ) T.
   (9) Safety the nut (14) with the new
AIPC 32-11-11-53-125 COTTER PIN (15) or the new AIPC 32-11-85-53-125 COTTER PIN (15).
   (10) Align the upper slave-link assembly (9) with the lower slave-link assembly (13).
   (11) Install the spacer (20), the bolt (19), the washer (12) and the nut (10).
NOTE: The head of the bolt (19) must point to the:
  • Inboard side for the left MLG
  • Outboard side for the right MLG.
   (12) Use the
T14500 WRENCH-CROWFOOT and TORQUE the nut (10) to between 2.7 and 2.1 m.daN (19.91 and 15.49 lbf.ft ) T.
   (13) Safety the nut (10) with the new
AIPC 32-11-11-53-125 COTTER PIN (11) or the new AIPC 32-11-85-53-125 COTTER PIN (11).
   (14) Install the bracket (2) on the upper slave-link assembly (9) as follows:
     (a) Put the bracket (2) in position on the upper slave-link assembly (9).
     (b) Install the washers (4) and the bolts (3).
     (c) TORQUE the bolts (3) to between 1.0 and 0.8 m.daN (88.50 and 70.80 lbf.in )
T.
     (d) Safety the bolts (3) together with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -
   (15) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay Landing Gear (Material No.
06AAC5) or Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Quick Curing - (Material No.06ABF1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) to the:
  • Head of the pin (1).
  • Heads of the bolts (19), (18) and (3).
  • Nuts (7), (10) and (14)
  • Washers (12), (16) and (4).
  • Area around the joint between the bracket (2) and the upper slave-link assembly (9).

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Install the applicable brake (Ref. AMM TASK 32-42-27-400-001).
   (3) Install the electrical harnesses on the applicable slave link assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-43-400-002).
   (4) Install the applicable proximity sensor 21GA(20GA) (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-73-400-001).
   (5) If the parts of the 1M electrical harness are removed, install them (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-43-400-003).
   (6) Install the hydraulic dressings on the applicable slave link assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-12-400-001).

B. Lowering
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Lower the applicable MLG off the jack (Ref. AMM TASK 07-12-00-582-002) or lower the aircraft off the jacks (Ref. AMM TASK 07-11-00-586-002).

   (2) If you did the flight configuration precautions, put the aircraft back to the ground configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-002).

E. Removal of Equipment
   (1) Remove the safety barrier(s).
   (2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (3) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
