3. Job Set-up

A. Safety Precautions
   (1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
   (2) Make sure that the ground safety locks are on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) On the panel 400VU:
  • make sure that the landing-gear control-lever 6GA is in the DOWN position
  • put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear.
   (2) On the panel 110VU, make sure that the GRAVITY GEAR EXTN handle is folded into the center console.

C. Get Access
   (1) Open the MLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
   (2) Make sure that the 460005835 SLEEVE - GROUND LOCK is on the applicable MLG door actuator.
   (3) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) below the applicable zone 734(744).
4. Procedure
Subtask 32-11-00-210-050-A
A. General Procedure
   (1) Do a General Visual Inspection of the lubrication points. Make sure that they are clean and serviceable.
   (2) Do a General Visual Inspection of the protective finish on the surface of the MLG and its components for damage.
   (3) If the protective finish or primer layers are damaged, do a repair (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-00-300-001).
   (4) Make sure that all the components are correctly installed and safetied.
   (5) Make sure that all safety devices (cotter pins, tab washers and lockwire) are correctly installed.
   (6) Make sure that:
  • the hinge pins and the hinges are correctly installed and serviceable
  • there are no signs of unusual wear.
   (7) Make sure that all identification plates and labels are correctly installed and show the correct data.
   (8) Do a General Visual Inspection of the bonding straps. Make sure that they are correctly installed and serviceable.

B. Inspection of the MLG Uplock Assembly
   (1) Do a General Visual Inspection for signs of shock damage to:
  • the hook of the uplock assembly
  • the uplock roller on the MLG leg.
   (2) Do a General Visual Inspection of the uplock manual-release control-links and cables in the MLG well. Make sure that they are correctly installed and serviceable (Ref. AMM TASK 20-24-12-200-001).
   (3) Do a General Visual Inspection of the uplock assembly. Make sure that:
  • it is correctly installed
  • there is no structural damage.
   (4) If you find damage:

   (6) Do a General Visual Inspection of the stabilizer struts. Make sure that they are correctly installed and not damaged.
   (7) Do a General Visual Inspection of the rubber centering washers at the end of the struts. Make sure that they are serviceable.

C. Inspection of the MLG Side-stay and Lock-stay Assemblies
   (1) Do a General Visual Inspection of the safety devices. Make sure that they are correctly installed and in good condition.
   (2) Do a General Visual Inspection of the side-stay. Make sure that it is correctly installed and serviceable. Check for corrosion, cracks, dents, distortion and wear.
   (3) If you find damage:
   (4) Do a General Visual Inspection of the lock-stay. Make sure that it is correctly installed and serviceable. Check for corrosion, cracks, dents, distortion and wear.
   (5) If you find damage:
   (6) Do a General Visual Inspection of the protective finish for damage. If necessary, clean and repair it (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-00-300-001).

D. Inspection of the MLG Lock-stay Actuator
   (1) Remove the 460007280 SLEEVE-GROUND LOCK from the MLG lock-stay actuator.
   (2) Make sure that the downlock release actuator is correctly installed and safetied.
   (3) Do a General Visual Inspection of the lock-stay actuator for cracks, dents, distortion and wear.
   (4) Make sure that all the components are correctly installed.
   (5) Make sure that there are no signs of hydraulic leaks from the actuator and hoses.
   (6) Do a General Visual Inspection of the chrome plating on the lock-stay actuator rod for wear, scores and damage.
   (7) If you find damage:
   (8) Install the 460007280 SLEEVE-GROUND LOCK to the MLG lock-stay actuator.

E. Inspection of the MLG Leg Assembly
   (1) Make sure that the MLG leg is correctly installed to the airframe structure.
   (2) Make sure that all safety devices are correctly installed and serviceable.
   (3) Do a general visual inspection of the MLG leg for corrosion, cracks, dents, distortion and wear. Inspect the chrome plating of the shock absorber for scores, wear and damage.
   (4) Make sure that there is no hydraulic leak from the gland seal.
   (5) If you find damage:
   (6) Do a general visual inspection of the drain holes adjacent to the charging valve. Make sure that:
  • there is no hydraulic fluid leakage
  • the drain hole is clear and dry.
   (7) Do a pressure/extension check of the MLG shock absorber (Ref. AMM TASK 12-14-32-614-003).
   (8) If necessary:
   (9) Do a general visual inspection of the torque link assembly. Make sure that:
  • it is correctly installed
  • there is no damage or wear.
   (10) If you find damage:
   (11) Do a general visual inspection of the torque link damper for signs of damage and hydraulic leaks.
   (12) If necessary, repair or remove and replace the torque link damper (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-29-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-29-400-001).
   (13) Do a general visual inspection of the MLG hydraulic hoses and the rigid hydraulic pipes. Look for signs of distortion, cracks, damage and signs of fretting due to vibration and/or pressure surges. Make sure that:
  • the hydraulic hoses and the rigid pipes are correctly installed and clamped
  • all the hoses are installed in their correct location and are not twisted
  • there are no signs of hydraulic leaks from the unions
  • all the brackets, line support blocks and clamps are correctly installed and safetied
  • there is the correct clearance between all hydraulic pipes and their related structure.
   (14) Do a general visual inspection of the MLG electrical conduits, connectors and protective coverings.
     (a) Make sure that:
  • all the electrical conduits, connectors and protective coverings are in good condition
  • all the electrical connections and connectors are correctly installed and safetied
  • there is no fluid contamination. If necessary, clean the contaminated area.
     (b) If damage is found, do the inspection and repair of MLG 1M and 2M leg harnesses (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-00-210-802).
   (15) Do a general visual inspection of the protective finish for damage. If necessary, clean and repair it (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-00-300-001).

F. Inspection of the Hydraulic Equipment and the Electrical Conduits in the MLG Compartment
   (1) Do a general visual inspection of the hydraulic equipment. Make sure that:
  • all the components are correctly installed and safetied
  • all the electrical connectors and receptacles are correctly installed and safetied
  • there are no signs of hydraulic leaks.
   (2) Do a general visual inspection of the MLG vent-valve, free-fall valve and free-fall control handle for signs of wear and damage.
   (3) Do a general visual inspection of the hydraulic hoses and rigid hydraulic pipes. Look for signs of distortion, cracks, damage and signs of fretting due to vibration and/or pressure surges. Make sure that:
  • the hydraulic hoses and rigid pipes are correctly installed and clamped
  • all the hoses are installed in their correct location and are not twisted
  • there are no signs of hydraulic leaks from the unions
  • all the brackets, line supports and clamps are correctly installed and safetied
  • there is the correct clearance between all the hydraulic pipes and their related structure.
   (4) Do a general visual inspection of the electrical conduits, connectors and protective coverings.
     (a) Make sure that:
  • all the electrical conduits, connectors and protective coverings are in good condition
  • all the electrical connections and connectors are correctly installed and safetied
  • there is no fluid contamination. If necessary, clean the contaminated area.
     (b) If damage is found, do the inspection and repair of MLG 1M and 2M leg harnesses (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-00-210-802).

G. Inspection of the MLG Actuator
   (1) Make sure that the MLG actuating cylinder is correctly installed and safetied.
   (2) Do a visual inspection of the actuator for cracks, dents, distortion and wear.
   (3) Make sure that all the components are correctly installed.
   (4) Make sure that there are no signs of hydraulic leaks from the actuator and hoses.
   (5) If you find damage, do the steps that follow:
     (a) Remove the component (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-46-000-001).
     (b) Find the cause of the fault and do a repair.
     (c) Install a serviceable component (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-46-400-001).

A. Removal of Equipment
   (1) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
   (2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Remove the safety barriers.
   (5) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).

   (1) Close the MLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-410-001).
