3. Job Set-up
Subtask 32-11-17-941-051-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
   (2) Make sure that the ground safety locks are installed on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
   (3) On panel 400VU:
  • Make sure that the landing-gear control-lever 6GA is in the down position
  • Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear.
   (4) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) on the ground service connections to tell persons not to pressurize the Green and Yellow hydraulic systems.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Disconnect the isolation coupling of the PTU (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-001).
   (2) Make sure that the Yellow and Green hydraulic systems are depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).

C. Lift the Aircraft
   (1) Lift the aircraft on jacks (Ref. AMM TASK 07-11-00-581-001).

D. Flight Configuration Precautions
   (1) If the electrical power is not necessary for other maintenance tasks, de-energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002). Then, it is not necessary to operate the LGCIU circuit breakers.
   (2) If the electrical power is necessary, do the precautions for flight configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-001) before you open the LGCIU circuit breakers.

F. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position below the applicable MLG lockstay, at zone 731 or 741.
4. Procedure
Subtask 32-11-17-020-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the MLG Lock Stay
CAUTION: SAFETY THE SIDE-STAY TO PREVENT ITS MOVEMENT WHEN YOU REMOVE THE LOCK-STAY. THE SIDE-STAY WEIGHS 54.8kg (120.8lb).
   (1) Disconnect the lock springs at the top attachments (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-19-000-003).
   (2) Disconnect the connector of the electrical cable (9) from the proximity sensor (7) and remove:
  • the bolts (13), the washers (12) and the clips (11).
    Move the electrical cable (9) away from the bracket (8) and safety in this position.
   (3) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
   (4) Remove the cotter pin (36), the nut (35) and the washer (34). Discard the cotter pin (36).
   (5) Remove the pin (33) and the washer (32). Move the lock-stay actuating-cylinder eye-end away from the lock stay and remove the washers (37).
   (6) Move the lock-stay actuating-cylinder away from the lock stay and safety in this position.
   (7) Remove the cotter pin (44), the nut (45) and the washer (43). Discard the cotter pin (44).
   (8) Remove the pin (41) and the washers (42).
   (9) Remove the cotter pin (46), the nut (47) and the washer (48). Discard the cotter pin (46).
   (10) Remove the pin (40) and the washer (39).
   (11) Move the lock stay away from the side stay and remove the washers (38).
   (12) Remove the cotter pin (21), the nut (20) and the washer (19). Discard the cotter pin (21).
   (13) Hold the lock stay (18), which weighs 3.4 kg (7.5 lb) and remove the pin (16) and the washer (17).
   (14) Carefully disengage the lock stay (18) from the cardan joint and collect the spacers (1). Put the lock stay on a TRESTLE - PADDED.
   (15) If the lock stay is to be replaced, remove these parts:
  • the nut (31), the washer (30) and the bolt (29)
  • the nut (25), the washer (26) and the bolt (28)
  • the proximity-sensor bracket (27)
  • the proximity sensor (7) (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-73-000-001).
     (a) Hold the target bracket (4) and remove the nuts (3) and the washers (2).
     (b) Remove the target bracket (4).
     (c) Remove these parts:
  • the nuts (6) and the washers (5)
  • the bolts (10), (14) and (15)
  • the bracket (8).
Subtask 32-11-17-020-050-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the MLG Lock Stay
CAUTION: SAFETY THE SIDE-STAY TO PREVENT ITS MOVEMENT WHEN YOU REMOVE THE LOCK-STAY. THE SIDE-STAY WEIGHS 54.8kg (120.8lb).
   (1) Disconnect the lock springs at the top attachments (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-19-000-003).
   (2) Disconnect the connector of the electrical cable (9) from the proximity sensor (7) and remove:
  • The bolts (13), the washers (12) and the clips (11).
   (3) Move the electrical cable (9) away from the bracket (8) and safety in this position.
   (4) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
   (5) Remove and discard the cotter pin (36) and the nut (35).
   (6) Remove the washer (34).
   (7) Remove the pin (33) and the washer (32). Move the lockstay actuating-cylinder eye-end away from the lockstay and remove the washers (37).
   (8) Move the lockstay actuating-cylinder away from the lockstay and safety in this position.
   (9) Remove and discard the cotter pin (44) and the nut (45).
   (10) Remove the washer (43).
   (11) Remove the pin (41) and the washers (42).
   (12) Remove and discard the cotter pin (46) and the nut (47).
   (13) Remove the washer (48).
   (14) Remove the pin (40) and the washer (39).
   (15) Move the lockstay away from the side-stay and remove the washers (38).
   (16) Remove and discard the cotter pin (21) and the nut (20).
   (17) Remove the washer (19).
   (18) Hold the lockstay (18), which weighs 3.4 kg (7.5 lb) and remove the pin (16) and the washer (17).
   (19) Carefully disengage the lock stay (18) from the cardan joint and collect the spacers (1). Put the lock stay on a TRESTLE - PADDED.
   (20) If you have to remove the lockstay:
     (a) Remove the items that follow:
  • The nut (31), the washer (30) and the bolt (29)
  • The nut (25), the washer (26) and the bolt (28)
  • The proximity-sensor bracket (27)
  • The proximity sensor (7) (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-73-000-001).
     (b) Discard the nuts (31) and (25).
     (c) Hold the target bracket (4) and remove the nuts (3) and the washers (2). Discard the nuts (3).
     (d) Remove the target bracket (4).
     (e) Remove and discard the nut (6).
     (f) Remove the items that follow:
  • The washer (5)
  • The bolts (10), (14) and (15)
  • The bracket (8).
