A. Safety Precautions
(1) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) are in position.
(2) Make sure that the ground safety locks are installed on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
(3) On the panel 400VU:
Subtask 32-31-46-860-051-A (1) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) are in position.
(2) Make sure that the ground safety locks are installed on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
(3) On the panel 400VU:
- Make sure that the landing-gear control-lever 6GA is in the DOWN position
- Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear.
- In the cockpit, on the HYD overhead panel 40VU
- On the hydraulic ground service panels 197CB and 198CB
- On the access door 195BB.
B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the aircraft is on jacks (Ref. AMM TASK 07-11-00-581-001).
(2) Make sure that the Green and Yellow hydraulic systems are depressurized
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
(3) Make sure that the applicable hydraulic reservoirs are depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
(4) Make sure that the isolation coupling of the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) is disconnected (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-001).
(5) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE is in position:
(a) FOR [2503GM] (ACTG CYL-MLG, L)
Subtask 32-31-46-869-053-A (1) Make sure that the aircraft is on jacks (Ref. AMM TASK 07-11-00-581-001).
(2) Make sure that the Green and Yellow hydraulic systems are depressurized
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
(3) Make sure that the applicable hydraulic reservoirs are depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
(4) Make sure that the isolation coupling of the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) is disconnected (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-001).
(5) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE is in position:
(a) FOR [2503GM] (ACTG CYL-MLG, L)
- Below zone 571.
- Below zone 671.
C. Flight Configuration Precautions
(1) If the electrical power is not necessary for other maintenance tasks, de-energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002). Then it is not necessary to operate the LGCIU circuit breakers.
(2) If the electrical power is necessary, do the precautions for flight configuration with electrical power before you open the circuit breakers (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-001).
Subtask 32-31-46-865-051-A (1) If the electrical power is not necessary for other maintenance tasks, de-energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002). Then it is not necessary to operate the LGCIU circuit breakers.
(2) If the electrical power is necessary, do the precautions for flight configuration with electrical power before you open the circuit breakers (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-001).

(5) Use the necessary lifting equipment to lift the actuating cylinder into position.
(6) Make sure that the manifold (23) is at the top:
- 98D32104009001 REM., INST. EQUIPMENT - MLG ACTUATOR (15) with the HOIST 50 KG (110 LB), or
- 98D32104009003 EQUIPMENT-R I OF THE MLG ACTUATOR (15), or

(8) Install the washer (29) at each side of the bearing (25).

(10) Make sure that the greasers (27) point aft.

(10) Make sure that the greasers (28) point aft.

(8) Install the washers (29) at each side of the bearing (25).
(9) Use the 98D32104014000 GUIDE CONE to install the pin (26).
(10) Make sure that the greasers (27) point aft.

(6) Make sure that the manifold (23) is at the top:
- 98D32104009001 REM., INST. EQUIPMENT - MLG ACTUATOR (15) with the HOIST 50 KG (110 LB), or
- 98D32104009003 EQUIPMENT-R I OF THE MLG ACTUATOR (15), or
- 98D32104009006 EQUIPMENT-R I OF THE MLG ACTUATOR (15) and the HOIST 50 KG (110 LB), or
- 98D32104009007 EQUIPMENT-R I OF THE MLG ACTUATOR (15).
(8) Install the washers (29) at each side of the bearing (25).
(9) Use the 98D32104014000 GUIDE CONE to install the pin (26).
(10) Make sure that the greasers (27) point aft.
A. Preparation for Installation
(1) Apply a thin layer of Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) to the interfaces of the:
(3) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
(4) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(5) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Hydraulic (Material No.06LDG6) to the bolt (34).
(6) Use 98D32104009007 EQUIPMENT-R I OF THE MLG ACTUATOR (15) to lift the actuating cylinder into position.
(7) Make sure that the manifold (23) is at the top.
(8) Engage the piston eye-end (31) in the attachment lugs of the MLG leg. Make sure that the greaser on the piston eye-end (31) points down.
(9) Install the washers (26) at each side of the bearing (25).
(10) Use the 98D32104014000 GUIDE CONE to install the pin (32).
(11) Make sure that the greasers (33) point aft.
Subtask 32-31-46-420-051-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Apply a thin layer of Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) to the interfaces of the:
- Pins (20) and (32)
- Bearings (25) and (44).
(3) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
(4) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(5) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Hydraulic (Material No.06LDG6) to the bolt (34).
(6) Use 98D32104009007 EQUIPMENT-R I OF THE MLG ACTUATOR (15) to lift the actuating cylinder into position.
(7) Make sure that the manifold (23) is at the top.
(8) Engage the piston eye-end (31) in the attachment lugs of the MLG leg. Make sure that the greaser on the piston eye-end (31) points down.
(9) Install the washers (26) at each side of the bearing (25).
(10) Use the 98D32104014000 GUIDE CONE to install the pin (32).
(11) Make sure that the greasers (33) point aft.
B. Installation of the MLG Actuating Cylinder
(3) TORQUE the nut (34) to between 3.0 and 2.4 m.daN (22.12 and 17.70 lbf.ft )
.
(4) Safety the nut (34) with the new AIPC 32-31-46-01-160 COTTER PIN (35).
(5) Align the fork end (46) with the actuator mounting bracket (44). Make sure that the anti-roll pegs (42) are at the top.
(6) Install a washer (43) on each side of the actuator mounting bracket (44).
(7) Use the 98D32104015000 GUIDE CONE to install the pin (20).
(8) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) to the interface of the:
(11) TORQUE the nut (38) to between 1.8 and 0.9 m.daN (159.29 and 79.65 lbf.in )
and align with the hole for the cotter pin (37).
(12) Safety the nut (38) with the new AIPC 32-31-46-01-040 COTTER PIN (37).
Subtask 32-31-46-420-051-D ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
(1) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) to the interface of the: - Pin (27) and the cap (32)
- Washer (33) and the cap (32)
- Nut (34) and the washer (33)
- Bolt (29) and the nut (34).
- Pin (27) and the MLG leg lugs
- Cap (32) and the MLG leg lugs.
(3) TORQUE the nut (34) to between 3.0 and 2.4 m.daN (22.12 and 17.70 lbf.ft )
. (4) Safety the nut (34) with the new AIPC 32-31-46-01-160 COTTER PIN (35).
(5) Align the fork end (46) with the actuator mounting bracket (44). Make sure that the anti-roll pegs (42) are at the top.
(6) Install a washer (43) on each side of the actuator mounting bracket (44).
(7) Use the 98D32104015000 GUIDE CONE to install the pin (20).
(8) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) to the interface of the:
- Bottom end of the pin (20)
- Collar (36)
- Bolt (41)
- Washer (39)
- Nylon-washer (40)
- Nut (38).
- Bolt (41)
- Nylon-washer (40)
- Washer (39)
- Nut (38).
(11) TORQUE the nut (38) to between 1.8 and 0.9 m.daN (159.29 and 79.65 lbf.in )

- Remove the unwanted hydraulic fluid from the flexible hoses (21) and (22) and the manifold (23)
- Clean the bolt (28) and the nut (33)
- Clean the bolt (41) and the nut (36).
- Bolt (28) and the nut (33)
- Bolt (41) and the nut (36).
E. Connection of the Flexible Hoses
(2) Connect the unions of the flexible hoses (21) and (22) on the manifold (23).

G. Bleed the MLG Actuating Cylinder
(1) Bleed the MLG actuating cylinder (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-46-600-001).

H. Continue with the Installation Procedure
(1) Lubricate the MLG actuating cylinder and fittings (Ref. AMM TASK 12-22-32-640-001).

I. Close Access
(a) Put the cover plates (1) and (2) in position on the wing.
(b) Install the bridge plates (3) and (4) and the nuts (6) and (7).
(c) Torque the nuts (6) and (7) as follows:
1 TORQUE the nuts (6) and (7) to between 5 and 3 m.N (44.25 and 26.55 lbf.in )
.
2 If necessary, loosen the nuts (6) and (7) until you can align the holes for the cotter pins (8) and (9).
3 To make sure that the nuts (6) and (7) are sufficiently tight:
a Use the 0.05 MM (0.0020 IN.) GAGE - FEELER and make sure that it does not go in the space between:
(e) Safety the nut (7) with the new AIPC 57-51-05-67-010 COTTER PIN (9) or AIPC 57-51-85-67-010 COTTER PIN (9).
(2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(3) Remove the access platform(s).
(4) Connect the isolation coupling of the PTU (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-002).
(5) Close the MLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-410-001).
(6) Close the NLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-410-001).
Subtask 32-31-46-720-050-A WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
(1) Install the cover plates (1) and (2) as follows:(a) Put the cover plates (1) and (2) in position on the wing.
(b) Install the bridge plates (3) and (4) and the nuts (6) and (7).
(c) Torque the nuts (6) and (7) as follows:
1 TORQUE the nuts (6) and (7) to between 5 and 3 m.N (44.25 and 26.55 lbf.in )
.2 If necessary, loosen the nuts (6) and (7) until you can align the holes for the cotter pins (8) and (9).
3 To make sure that the nuts (6) and (7) are sufficiently tight:

(3) Remove the access platform(s).
(4) Connect the isolation coupling of the PTU (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-002).
(5) Close the MLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-410-001).
(6) Close the NLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-410-001).
J. Test
(1) Do a functional test of the MLG (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-00-720-002).
(2) Examine the applicable MLG actuating cylinder for leaks. Leaks are not permitted.
5. Close-up(1) Do a functional test of the MLG (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-00-720-002).
