A. Inspection and Repair of the MLG 1M and 2M Leg Harnesses
   (1) Examine the 1M and 2M MLG leg harnesses, look for:
INSPECTION
DAMAGE LIMITS
1.Wrinkles on the heat shrink layer.
Permitted.
2.Bend radius.
Permitted.
- The average bend radius must not be less than 100 mm (3.94 in.).
3.Chafing of the heat shrink.
Permitted
- Must be less than 5 mm (0.20 in.) in length and 5 mm (0.20 in.) in width
- Must not go through more than half of the thickness of the heat shrink layer.
4.Cuts or nicks to the heat shrink.
Not permitted.
5.Compressed steel braid.
Permitted
- The length of the compressed area must be less than the harness diameter.
6.Permanent acute kinks or bends.
Not permitted.
   (2) Examine the braid strands of 1M and 2M MLG leg harnesses, look for:
INSPECTION
DAMAGE LIMITS
1.Braid strand distortion.
Permitted
- The strands must not be broken.
2.Broken braid strands.
If one or more strands are broken, the height and width of the damage:
- Must be less than 10% of the harness circumference
- Must be a maximum of 5 mm (0.20 in.).
3.Conduit deformation.
Permitted
- There is no sign of broken wire or cable in the conduit subassembly
- The MLG leg harnesses must be fully serviceable (Ref. AMM TASK 32-69-00-740-001).
   (3) If the damage is more than the limits, refer to the applicable CMM that follow for repair procedures:
  • CMM 321228
  • CMM 321277.
   (4) If necessary, replace the harness (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-43-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-43-400-002).
