Removal of the Access Door


WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.

MOVEMENT OF COMPONENTS CAN KILL OR CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO MAINTENANCE TASKS ON THE WING TRAILING EDGE:
  • DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE RACEWAYS.
  • DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE INSTALLATIONS.
  • MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.

A. Safety Precautions
   (1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the flaps are fully retracted (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-009).
   (2) Install the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS on the flap/slat control lever (Ref. AMM TASK 27-00-00-480-002).
   (3) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
   (4) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE below the applicable access door 574AB(674AB).

4. Procedure

A. Removal of the Access Door 574AB(674AB)
   (1) Hold the access door (1) and remove the screws (4). Carefully let the door open on the hinge.
   (2) Hold the access door (1) and remove the nuts (3) and the bolts (2) from the hinge.
   (3) Carefully remove the access door (1).

A. Removal of the Access Door 574AB(674AB)
NOTE: The access door (1) is attached to the wing skin with two different lengths of screw. Make a record of the position of each screw as it is removed.
   (1) Hold the access door (1) and remove the screws as follows:
  • the two screws (2)
  • the eight screws (3).
   (2) Carefully remove the access door (1).
