3. Job Set-up

A. Safety Precautions
   (1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
   (2) Make sure that the ground safety locks are on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
   (3) On panel 400VU:
  • Make sure that the landing-gear control-lever is in the DOWN position
  • Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear.
   (4) On panel 110VU, make sure that the GRAVITY GEAR EXTN handle is folded into the center console.

B. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) in position below the applicable zone 733(743).
4. Procedure
Subtask 32-12-14-020-050-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
WARNING: THE WEIGHT OF THE FIXED FAIRING IS 34kg (75lb).
A. Removal of the MLG Fixed Fairing Assembly
NOTE: You must not move the locknuts (2) and (10) or you will cause the fixed fairing (1) to go out of adjustment.
   (1) Remove the screws (19) and remove the cover plates (20).
   (2) Hold the head of the screw (21). Remove the nut (9) to release the bonding strap (8) from the fixed fairing (1).
   (3) Remove and discard the cotter pins (4).
   (4) Remove the nuts (3) and the washers (5) from the bolts (7).
   (5) At the position C:
     (a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (12).
     (b) Remove the nut (13) and the washer (14).
     (c) Remove the bolt (18).
     (d) Remove the bush (15).
   (6) At the position F:
     (a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (11).
     (b) Remove the nut (13) and the washer (14).
     (c) Remove the bolt (18).
     (d) Remove the bush (17).
   (7) Hold the fixed fairing (1).
   (8) Remove the bolts (7) and the bushes (6). Remove the fixed fairing (1).
Subtask 32-12-14-020-050-D ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
WARNING: THE WEIGHT OF THE FIXED FAIRING IS 34kg (75lb).
A. Removal of the MLG Fixed Fairing Assembly
NOTE: You must not move the locknuts (3) and (11) or you will cause the fixed fairing (1) to go out of adjustment.
   (1) If a new fixed fairing (1) is necessary, remove the hinge 1A extension fairing (2) (Ref. AMM TASK 57-55-11-000-006).
   (2) Remove the screws (20) and remove the cover plates (21).
   (3) Hold the head of the screw (22). Remove the nut (10) to release the bonding strap (9) from the fixed fairing (1).
   (4) Remove and discard the cotter pins (5).
   (5) Remove the nuts (4) and the washers (6) from the bolts (8).
   (6) At the position C:
     (a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (13).
     (b) Remove the nut (14) and the washer (15).
     (c) Remove the bolt (19).
     (d) Remove the bush (16).
   (7) At the position F:
     (a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (12).
     (b) Remove the nut (14) and the washer (15).
     (c) Remove the bolt (19).
     (d) Remove the bush (18).
   (8) Hold the fixed fairing (1).
   (9) Remove the bolts (8) and the bushes (7). Remove the fixed fairing (1).
