1. Reason for the Job
To remove the MLG lockstay actuating cylinder with the lockstay brace tool (DRT68864) installed. It is not necessary to lift the aircraft on jacks.

A. Safety Precautions
   (1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
   (2) Make sure that the ground safety locks are installed on the landing gear and the landing gear doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-002).
   (3) On panel 400VU:
  • Make sure that the landing-gear control-lever 6GA is in the DOWN position
  • Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear.
   (4) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Green or Yellow hydraulic system.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Disconnect the isolation coupling of the PTU (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-001).
   (2) Make sure that the Yellow and Green hydraulic systems are depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
   (3) Make sure that the applicable hydraulic system reservoir is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).

C. Flight Configuration Precautions
   (1) If the electrical power is not necessary for other maintenance tasks, de-energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002). Then, it is not necessary to operate the LGCIU circuit breakers.
   (2) If the electrical power is necessary, do the precautions for flight configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-001) before you open the LGCIU circuit breakers.

E. Get Access
   (1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE below the applicable MLG lockstay actuating cylinder, at zone 731 or 741.
   (2) Put a CONTAINER 1 L (1/4 USGAL) below the applicable actuating cylinder.
4. Procedure

A. Removal of the MLG Lockstay Actuating-Cylinder
   (1) Install the DRT68864 LOCK, STAY BRACE TOOL (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-480-001).
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
CAUTION: DURING REMOVAL OF THE LOCKSTAY ACTUATOR HOSES, MAKE SURE THAT YOU DO NOT LOOSEN THE SWAGED FITTINGS OF THE HOSES. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, RUPTURE OF THE LOCKSTAY ACTUATOR HOSES CAN OCCUR.
   (2) Remove and discard the lockwire from the bolts (5).
   (3) Remove the bolts (5) and the washers (4) from the hoses (1).
   (4) Move the hoses (1) away from the actuating cylinder (6). Remove and discard the packings (3) and the back-up packings (2).
   (5) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
   (6) Release and open the clamps (8) on support-arms (9) and (10).
   (7) Remove the actuating cylinder (6) (weight 3.3 kg (7.3 lb)) from the DRT68864 LOCK, STAY BRACE TOOL (7).
