To remove the MLG lockstay actuating cylinder with the aircraft lifted on jacks.

3. Job Set-up

A. Safety Precautions
   (1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
   (2) Make sure that the ground safety locks are installed on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
   (3) On panel 400VU:
  • Make sure that the landing-gear control-lever 6GA is in the DOWN position
  • Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear.
   (4) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Green hydraulic system.

B. Lift the Aircraft
   (1) Lift the aircraft on jacks (Ref. AMM TASK 07-11-00-581-001).
   (2) Make sure that the safety device is installed on the applicable MLG lockstay actuating cylinder (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).

C. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Disconnect the isolation coupling of the PTU (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-001).
   (2) Make sure that the Yellow and Green hydraulic systems are de-pressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
   (3) Depressurize the Green Hydraulic-system reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).

D. Flight Configuration Precautions
   (1) If the electrical power is not necessary for other maintenance tasks, de-energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002). Then, it is not necessary to operate the LGCIU circuit breakers.
   (2) If the electrical power is necessary, do the precautions for flight configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-001) before you open the LGCIU circuit breakers.

F. Get Access
   (1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) below the applicable MLG lockstay actuating cylinder, at zone 731 or 741.
   (2) Put a CONTAINER 1 L (1/4 USGAL) below the applicable actuating cylinder.
4. Procedure
Subtask 32-11-21-020-051-A
A. Removal of the MLG Lockstay Actuating-Cylinder
WARNING: DO NOT GET THE FLUID ON YOUR SKIN OR IN YOUR EYES. IF YOU DO:
  • FLUSH IT AWAY WITH CLEAN WATER
  • GET MEDICAL AID.
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE FLUID DOES NOT STAY ON THE AIRCRAFT STRUCTURE. IF THE FLUID GETS ON THE AIRCRAFT STRUCTURE, WASH IT OFF IMMEDIATELY WITH SOAP AND WATER.
   (1) Disconnect one end of the MLG lock springs from the MLG side-stay (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-19-000-003).
   (2) Remove the MLG lockstay actuating-cylinder as follows:
     (a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (10).
     (b) Remove the nut (9) and the washer (8).
     (c) Release the tab washer (16).
     (d) Use the 460006437 TOOL-HOLDING to hold the pin (13) and remove the bolt (15), the tab washer (16) and the sleeve (17). Discard the tab washer (16).
     (e) Remove and discard the lockwire from the bolts (5).
CAUTION: DURING REMOVAL OF THE LOCKSTAY ACTUATOR HOSES, MAKE SURE THAT YOU DO NOT LOOSEN THE SWAGED FITTINGS OF THE HOSES. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, RUPTURE OF THE LOCKSTAY ACTUATOR HOSES CAN OCCUR.
     (f) Remove the bolts (5) and the washers (4) from the hoses (1).
     (g) Move the hoses (1) away from the actuating cylinder (12).
     (h) Remove and discard the packings (3) and the back-up packings (2).
     (i) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
   (3) If you have to replace the actuating cylinder, remove the GROUND LOCK SLEEVE from the applicable actuating cylinder.
   (4) Hold the actuating cylinder (12) (weight 3.3 kg (7.3 lb)) and remove the:
  • Pin (7)
  • Washers (6) and (11)
  • Pin (13)
  • Washers (14).
   (5) Remove the actuating cylinder (12).
