Subtask 71-00-00-620-067-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL A. General
(1) Removal of the protection covers
(2) This task gives instructions on how to preserve the engine on wing when it is stored for more than 60 days.
(3) It will be necessary to air-motor or operate the engine to preserve the engine oil system for more than 60 days.
(4) If necessary, preserve the Integrated Drive Generator (IDG) (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-00-550-803).
Subtask 71-00-00-620-068-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Removal of the protection covers
CAUTION:
REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE OPENINGS AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE.
(a) Make sure that you remove all the necessary COVER - PROTECTION to prevent damage to the engine. (2) This task gives instructions on how to preserve the engine on wing when it is stored for more than 60 days.
(3) It will be necessary to air-motor or operate the engine to preserve the engine oil system for more than 60 days.
(4) If necessary, preserve the Integrated Drive Generator (IDG) (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-00-550-803).
B. Engine Oil System Preservation
(b) Remove and replace the main oil filter element (Ref. AMM TASK 79-21-06-960-801).
(c) Change the oil in the engine oil system (Ref. AMM TASK 79-00-00-610-802).
(a) Dry-motor the engine until the engine oil pressure is stable to recirculate the new engine oil (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-817).
(a) Perform the idle test to recirculate the new engine oil (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-720-811).
Subtask 71-00-00-620-069-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL CAUTION:
DO THE PRESERVATION OF THE ENGINE VERY CAREFULLY WHEN THERE IS A RISK OF LARGE TEMPERATURE CHANGES, MUCH HUMIDITY OR SALT WATER. IN THESE CONDITIONS, DAMAGE TO ENGINE PARTS CAN OCCUR.
(1) Drain the engine oil (Ref. AMM TASK 79-00-00-680-801). NOTE: When you change the engine oil, you will drain the oil from the oil tank, main gearbox, starter and magnetic chip collectors and remove the main oil filter element and then, fill the oil system with new oil and install a new main oil filter element.
(a) It is not necessary to change the oil filter for preservation if the engine has been operated in the last seven days and is going to an overhaul facility or the engine is within the desired preservation method time period that has been previously performed. (b) Remove and replace the main oil filter element (Ref. AMM TASK 79-21-06-960-801).
(c) Change the oil in the engine oil system (Ref. AMM TASK 79-00-00-610-802).
CAUTION:
DO NOT OPERATE THE STARTER FOR MORE THAN ITS DUTY CYCLE. IF YOU DO, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE STARTER.
(2) Dry-motor the engine (alternative to the idle power test): (a) Dry-motor the engine until the engine oil pressure is stable to recirculate the new engine oil (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-817).
NOTE: Do not drain the oil until after you preserve the fuel system.
(3) Idle power test (alternative to the dry-motoring operation): (a) Perform the idle test to recirculate the new engine oil (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-720-811).
NOTE: Do not drain the oil until after you preserve the fuel system.
C. Engine Fuel System Preservation
(1) Drain the fuel system at the fuel manifold as follows:
(a) Find the fuel manifold drain plug (3) attached to the fuel manifold on the front of the main gearbox at the 3 o'clock position.
(b) Put the CONTAINER 20L (5 USGAL) below the fuel manifold drain plug (3) and below the Integrated Fuel Pump and Control (IFPC).
(c) Make sure that the fuel system is "OFF" for the applicable engine.
(d) Loosen the drain plug retention bolt (2) on the fuel manifold.
(e) Turn the drain plug (3) to disengage the retention tab from below the retention bolt (2).
(g) Drain the fuel into the CONTAINER 20L (5 USGAL).
(h) Remove and discard the packing (4) from the drain plug (3).
(2) Disconnect the main fuel supply line from the IFPC inlet as follows:
(a) Remove the four bolts (6) and the face seal (5) that attach the main fuel supply on the IFPC.
(b) Move the hose away from the IFPC.
(c) Apply theP03-001 lubricant, aircraft turbine engine (synthetic base) or the P06-053 lubricant, sealing ring to the new EIPC 73-11-02-01-280 PACKING (4).
(d) Install the packing (4) on the drain plug (3).
(f) Hold the drain plug (3) straight while you press and turn the drain plug until it is fully against the fuel manifold.
(g) Make sure that the drain plug (3) is fully against the mating surface.
(h) Turn the drain plug (3) to get the retention tab below the retention bolt (2) and the washer (1).
(i) TORQUE the bolt (2) to between 70 and 60 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.68 m.daN )
.
(3) Install the PWA29486 ADAPTER, ENGINE PRESERVATION, FUEL PUMP to the IFPC inlet as follows:
(a) Install the PWA29486 ADAPTER, ENGINE PRESERVATION, FUEL PUMP and the face seal (5) on the IFPC inlet pad with the four detail captive screws.
(b) TORQUE the four detail captive screws to between 70 and 60 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.68 m.daN )
in small increments and until the same torque indication holds.
(c) Install the pressure hose from the CTE3160 CART - FUEL ACCESSORY PRESERVATION or equivalent on the PWA29486 ADAPTER, ENGINE PRESERVATION, FUEL PUMP. If the CTE3160 CART - FUEL ACCESSORY PRESERVATION is not available, continue to step 4.C.(8) for the gravity feed method.
(4) Disconnect the fuel return tube from the fuel return to tank valve as follows:
(b) If necessary, remove the bolt (16) and the washer (17) from the fuel return tube clamp.
(c) If necessary, remove the fuel return tube from the fuel return elbow.
(d) Install and tighten the PLUG MS21914-8J 0.750-16 CAP or equivalent to the fuel return to tank valve.
(5) Remove the starter air duct if necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 80-11-49-000-802).
(6) Disconnect the fuel supply manifold (FS01) from the fuel flow divider as follows:
(b) If necessary, remove the (FD01) B−nut from the fuel flow divider to get access to the fuel flow divider (Ref. AMM TASK 73-11-03-000-801).
(c) If necessary, remove the (FD01) tube from the (FD02) B−nut and loosen the (FD01) clamp bolts to get access to the fuel flow divider (Ref. AMM TASK 72-61-01-000-801).
(d) Loosen the four clamps on the fuel supply manifold (FS01) to let more movement in the manifold.
(e) Put theP05-005 wipe, lint-free below the fuel flow divider to absorb any remaining fuel.
(g) Install and tighten the PWA109774 COVER, VAC.CHECK on the larger fuel flow divider adapter.
(h) Remove the smaller diameter fuel supply manifold (FS01) B-nut from the fuel flow divider.
(i) Install and tighten the drain hose on the smaller fuel flow divider adapter.
(j) If necessary, connect the harness (WC08) connector P46 to the fuel flow divider as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Push lightly in on the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT and tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 Make sure you can feel the ratchet feature.
5 While you tighten, push the connector in and from side to side.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(k) Install again the starter air duct if necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 80-11-49-400-802).
(7) Preserve the fuel system - pressure method:
(a) Use the CTE3160 CART - FUEL ACCESSORY PRESERVATION (or equivalent) to pump theP03-002 oil, lubricating into the fuel system and at the same time use the engine starter to wet-motor the engine. Refer to (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-825), except it is permitted to operate the starter for 15 seconds or longer after a positive fuel flow indication. Do not exceed the maximum starter duty cycle:
1 If the CTE3160 CART - FUEL ACCESSORY PRESERVATION is not available, continue to step 4.C.(8) for the gravity feed method.
(c) Pump theP03-002 oil, lubricating into the fuel system and wet-motor the engine until approximately 2 USgal (7.57 l) comes out of the drain adapter and into the CONTAINER 20L (5 USGAL).
(d) Stop the wet-motoring and the pump on the flushing cart.
(e) Remove the starter air duct if necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 80-11-49-000-802).
(f) Remove the drain hose from the smaller diameter fuel flow divider adapter.
(g) Install the fuel supply manifold (FS01) B-nut to the smaller diameter fuel flow divider adapter.
1 If necessary, loosen the three captive screws on the fuel flow divider to align the manifold (FS01) with the valve:
2 TORQUE the captive screws to between 70 and 60 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.68 m.daN )

(h) Loosen the B-nut to zero.
(i) TORQUE the B-nut again to between 225 and 200 lbf.in (2.54 and 2.26 m.daN )
.
.
(k) Install again the starter air duct if necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 80-11-49-400-802).
(l) Use the CTE3160 CART - FUEL ACCESSORY PRESERVATION (or equivalent) to pump theP03-002 oil, lubricating into the fuel system and at the same time, use the engine starter to wet-motor the engine (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-825).
(n) Pump the fuel system preservation oil into the fuel system and wet-motor the engine for ten seconds maximum.
(o) Stop the wet-motoring and the pump on the flushing cart.
(8) Preserve the fuel system - gravity feed method:
(a) Assemble the preservation tank as follows:
1 Use the clean and dry tank with a capacity of 5 USgal (18.93 l) to 10 USgal (37.85 l).
2 Make sure that the tank has a fitting at the bottom to attach the valve and the hose.
3 Make sure that the tank is vented.
4 Install the shutoff valve on the bottom of the tank.
5 Connect the hose to the shutoff valve on the bottom of the tank with a 40 micron in-line filter.
a The hose must be 0.5 in. (12.7 mm) inner diameter minimum and approximately 20 ft. (6.10 m) in length and must not collapse bellow negative pressure.
(b) Attach the hose to the PWA29486 ADAPTER, ENGINE PRESERVATION, FUEL PUMP on the IFPC inlet port.
(c) Use the tank to flush the engine fuel system with theP03-002 oil, lubricating :
1 Put the tank in position, 5 ft. (1.52 m) minimum, above the IFPC and away from the fan discharge air.
2 Close the valve at the bottom of the tank.
3 Fill the tank with 5 USgal (18.93 l) minimum of theP03-002 oil, lubricating .
4 Open the valve at the bottom of the tank and wet-motor the engine until approximately 2 USgal (7.57 l) of oil comes out of the drain adapter and into the drain container. Refer to (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-825), except it is permitted to operate the starter for 15 seconds or longer after a positive fuel flow indication. Do not exceed the maximum starter duty cycle.
(d) Remove the starter air duct if necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 80-11-49-000-802).
(e) Remove the drain hose from the smaller diameter fuel flow divider adapter.
(f) Install the fuel supply manifold (FS01) B-nut to the smaller diameter fuel flow divider adapter:
1 If necessary, loosen the three captive screws on the fuel flow divider to aid in aligning the (FS01) with the valve.
2 TORQUE the captive screws to between 70 and 60 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.68 m.daN )

(h) Loosen the B-nut to zero.
(i) TORQUE the B-nut again to between 225 and 200 lbf.in (2.54 and 2.26 m.daN )
.
.
(k) Install again the starter air duct if necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 80-11-49-400-802).
(l) Open the valve at the bottom of the tank and wet-motor the engine for ten seconds (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-825).
(9) Remove the PWA29486 ADAPTER, ENGINE PRESERVATION, FUEL PUMP from the IFPC and attach the fuel supply manifold as follows:
(a) Loosen the four detail captive screws and remove the PWA29486 ADAPTER, ENGINE PRESERVATION, FUEL PUMP from the IFPC.
(b) Apply a small amount of theP06-038 compound, antigallant to the four bolts (6).
1 For the new or the refurbished hardware with the baked-on lubricant, do not do the wet-application.
(c) Examine the face seal (5) for the serviceability as follows:
1 Rubber that is not bonded to the metal is not permitted.
2 Rubber that is not there is not permitted.
3 Rubber that is cut or damaged is not permitted.
4 Rubber that is not above the metal is not permitted.
(d) Attach the hose to the IFPC with the face seal (5) and the four bolts (6).
(e) TORQUE the four bolts (6) to between 70 and 60 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.68 m.daN )
equally in an opposite pattern until the same torque indication holds.
(10) Install the fuel supply manifold (FS01) on the fuel flow divider as follows:
(a) If necessary, remove the starter air duct (Ref. AMM TASK 80-11-49-000-802).

1 If necessary, loosen the three captive screws on the fuel flow divider to align the fuel supply manifold (FS01) with the valve.

(i) If necessary, install the (FD01) tube to the (FD02) B−nut and tighten the (FD01) clamp bolts (Ref. AMM TASK 72-61-01-400-801).
(j) If necessary, install the (FD01) B−nut to the fuel flow divider (Ref. AMM TASK 73-11-03-400-801).
(k) Install again the starter air duct if necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 80-11-49-400-802).
(11) Connect the fuel return tube to the return to tank valve as follows:
(a) Remove the PLUG MS21914-8J 0.750-16 CAP from the return to tank valve.
(b) Apply theP03-001 lubricant, aircraft turbine engine (synthetic base) to the fuel return elbow B-nut threads.
(c) Connect the fuel return elbow B-nut to the return to tank valve.
(d) If necessary, apply theP03-001 lubricant, aircraft turbine engine (synthetic base) to the fuel return tube B-nut threads.
(e) Connect the fuel return tube to the fuel return elbow.
(f) If necessary, attach the fuel return tube clamp with the bolt (16) and the washer (17).

(12) Remove the CTE3160 CART - FUEL ACCESSORY PRESERVATION (or equivalent) and the equipment from the aircraft.
(13) Drain the oil from the LP02, LB02, LR02 and starter.
(14) Drain the oil from the oil tanks, main gearbox and magnetic chip collectors (Ref. AMM TASK 79-00-00-680-801).
Subtask 71-00-00-620-083-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Drain the fuel system at the fuel manifold as follows:
(a) Find the fuel manifold drain plug (3) attached to the fuel manifold on the front of the main gearbox at the 3 o'clock position.
(b) Put the CONTAINER 20L (5 USGAL) below the fuel manifold drain plug (3) and below the Integrated Fuel Pump and Control (IFPC).
(c) Make sure that the fuel system is "OFF" for the applicable engine.
(d) Loosen the drain plug retention bolt (2) on the fuel manifold.
(e) Turn the drain plug (3) to disengage the retention tab from below the retention bolt (2).
CAUTION:
DO NOT PRY ON THE RETENTION TAB TO REMOVE THE DRAIN PLUG. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE DRAIN PLUG CAN OCCUR.
(f) Hold the drain plug (3) by the square, turn and pull it as necessary to remove it from the fuel manifold. (g) Drain the fuel into the CONTAINER 20L (5 USGAL).
(h) Remove and discard the packing (4) from the drain plug (3).
(2) Disconnect the main fuel supply line from the IFPC inlet as follows:
(a) Remove the four bolts (6) and the face seal (5) that attach the main fuel supply on the IFPC.
(b) Move the hose away from the IFPC.
(c) Apply the
(d) Install the packing (4) on the drain plug (3).
CAUTION:
DO NOT PUSH ON THE RETENTION TAB TO INSTALL THE DRAIN PLUG. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE DRAIN PLUG CAN OCCUR.
(e) Install the drain plug (3) on the fuel manifold. (f) Hold the drain plug (3) straight while you press and turn the drain plug until it is fully against the fuel manifold.
(g) Make sure that the drain plug (3) is fully against the mating surface.
(h) Turn the drain plug (3) to get the retention tab below the retention bolt (2) and the washer (1).
(i) TORQUE the bolt (2) to between 70 and 60 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.68 m.daN )
. (3) Install the PWA29486 ADAPTER, ENGINE PRESERVATION, FUEL PUMP to the IFPC inlet as follows:
(a) Install the PWA29486 ADAPTER, ENGINE PRESERVATION, FUEL PUMP and the face seal (5) on the IFPC inlet pad with the four detail captive screws.
(b) TORQUE the four detail captive screws to between 70 and 60 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.68 m.daN )
in small increments and until the same torque indication holds. (c) Install the pressure hose from the CTE3160 CART - FUEL ACCESSORY PRESERVATION or equivalent on the PWA29486 ADAPTER, ENGINE PRESERVATION, FUEL PUMP. If the CTE3160 CART - FUEL ACCESSORY PRESERVATION is not available, continue to step 4.C.(8) for the gravity feed method.
(4) Disconnect the fuel return tube from the fuel return to tank valve as follows:
CAUTION:
USE A SECOND WRENCH TO HOLD THE MATING PARTS WHEN YOU LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE TUBE OR HOSE NUTS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS CAUTION, YOU CAN TWIST OR CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE TUBES OR HOSES.
(a) Disconnect the fuel return elbow from the fuel return to tank valve. (b) If necessary, remove the bolt (16) and the washer (17) from the fuel return tube clamp.
(c) If necessary, remove the fuel return tube from the fuel return elbow.
(d) Install and tighten the PLUG MS21914-8J 0.750-16 CAP or equivalent to the fuel return to tank valve.
(5) Remove the starter air duct if necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 80-11-49-000-802).
(6) Disconnect the fuel supply manifold (FS01) from the fuel flow divider as follows:
NOTE: The fuel supply manifold (FS01) consists of the four tubes that reduce into the two B-nut fittings. One fitting has a larger diameter B-nut to supply the primary fuel to the nozzles. The smaller diameter B-nut is used to supply the secondary fuel to the nozzles.
(a) If necessary, disconnect the harness (WC08) connector P46 from the fuel flow divider. (b) If necessary, remove the (FD01) B−nut from the fuel flow divider to get access to the fuel flow divider (Ref. AMM TASK 73-11-03-000-801).
(c) If necessary, remove the (FD01) tube from the (FD02) B−nut and loosen the (FD01) clamp bolts to get access to the fuel flow divider (Ref. AMM TASK 72-61-01-000-801).
(d) Loosen the four clamps on the fuel supply manifold (FS01) to let more movement in the manifold.
(e) Put the

(f) Use the second WRENCH - STANDARD to disconnect the larger diameter fuel supply manifold (FS01) B-nut from the fuel flow divider. (g) Install and tighten the PWA109774 COVER, VAC.CHECK on the larger fuel flow divider adapter.
(h) Remove the smaller diameter fuel supply manifold (FS01) B-nut from the fuel flow divider.
(i) Install and tighten the drain hose on the smaller fuel flow divider adapter.
(j) If necessary, connect the harness (WC08) connector P46 to the fuel flow divider as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Push lightly in on the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT and tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 Make sure you can feel the ratchet feature.
5 While you tighten, push the connector in and from side to side.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(k) Install again the starter air duct if necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 80-11-49-400-802).
(7) Preserve the fuel system - pressure method:
(a) Use the CTE3160 CART - FUEL ACCESSORY PRESERVATION (or equivalent) to pump the

(m) Set the CTE3160 CART - FUEL ACCESSORY PRESERVATION to between 5 psi (0.34 bar) and 25 psi (1.72 bar) with the flushing oil temperature at 60 deg.F (15.6 deg.C) minimum. (n) Pump the fuel system preservation oil into the fuel system and wet-motor the engine for ten seconds maximum.
(o) Stop the wet-motoring and the pump on the flushing cart.
(8) Preserve the fuel system - gravity feed method:
(a) Assemble the preservation tank as follows:
1 Use the clean and dry tank with a capacity of 5 USgal (18.93 l) to 10 USgal (37.85 l).
2 Make sure that the tank has a fitting at the bottom to attach the valve and the hose.
3 Make sure that the tank is vented.
4 Install the shutoff valve on the bottom of the tank.
5 Connect the hose to the shutoff valve on the bottom of the tank with a 40 micron in-line filter.
a The hose must be 0.5 in. (12.7 mm) inner diameter minimum and approximately 20 ft. (6.10 m) in length and must not collapse bellow negative pressure.
(b) Attach the hose to the PWA29486 ADAPTER, ENGINE PRESERVATION, FUEL PUMP on the IFPC inlet port.
(c) Use the tank to flush the engine fuel system with the

5 Stop the wet-motoring and close the valve at the bottom of the tank. (d) Remove the starter air duct if necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 80-11-49-000-802).
(e) Remove the drain hose from the smaller diameter fuel flow divider adapter.
(f) Install the fuel supply manifold (FS01) B-nut to the smaller diameter fuel flow divider adapter:
1 If necessary, loosen the three captive screws on the fuel flow divider to aid in aligning the (FS01) with the valve.
2 TORQUE the captive screws to between 70 and 60 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.68 m.daN )
. CAUTION:
USE A SECOND WRENCH TO HOLD THE MATING PARTS WHEN YOU LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE TUBE OR HOSE NUTS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS CAUTION, YOU CAN TWIST OR CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE TUBES OR HOSES.
(g) TORQUE the B-nut to between 225 and 200 lbf.in (2.54 and 2.26 m.daN )

(m) Stop the wet-motoring and close the valve at the bottom of the tank. (9) Remove the PWA29486 ADAPTER, ENGINE PRESERVATION, FUEL PUMP from the IFPC and attach the fuel supply manifold as follows:
(a) Loosen the four detail captive screws and remove the PWA29486 ADAPTER, ENGINE PRESERVATION, FUEL PUMP from the IFPC.
(b) Apply a small amount of the

equally in an opposite pattern until the same torque indication holds. (10) Install the fuel supply manifold (FS01) on the fuel flow divider as follows:
(a) If necessary, remove the starter air duct (Ref. AMM TASK 80-11-49-000-802).
(b) Remove the PWA109774 COVER, VAC.CHECK covering the larger diameter fuel flow divider adapter.
(c) Attach the larger diameter fuel supply manifold (FS01) B-nut to the fuel flow divider:
1 If necessary, loosen the three captive screws on the fuel flow divider to align the fuel supply manifold (FS01) with the valve.
2 TORQUE the captive screws to between 70 and 60 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.68 m.daN )

. (12) Remove the CTE3160 CART - FUEL ACCESSORY PRESERVATION (or equivalent) and the equipment from the aircraft.
(13) Drain the oil from the LP02, LB02, LR02 and starter.
(14) Drain the oil from the oil tanks, main gearbox and magnetic chip collectors (Ref. AMM TASK 79-00-00-680-801).
NOTE: It is not necessary to change the oil filter for the preservation if the engine has been operated in the last seven days and is going to an overhaul facility or the engine is within the desired preservation method time period that has been previously performed.
D. The preservation requirements that follow apply to engines on or off wing.
Subtask 71-00-00-620-070-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL E. Preserve the main and angle gearbox.

DO NOT LET HYDRAULIC FLUID STAY ON THE MAIN GEARBOX DURING THE PRESERVATION PERIOD. HYDRAULIC FLUID CAN CAUSE CORROSION AND DAMAGE TO THE GEARBOX HOUSING.
(1) Examine the main gearbox for hydraulic fluid. (2) If you see hydraulic fluid on the main gearbox, clean and remove the hydraulic fluid by solvent wipe procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 70-27-00-910-801) or (Ref. AMM TASK 70-27-00-910-804).
(3) If any gearbox accessories have been removed, do the steps that follow:
(a) Spray
(b) Install a COVER - BLANKING on the gearbox drive pad.
F. Preserve the engine for relative humidity as follows:
(2) Put a relative INDICATOR-HUMIDITY inside the inlet and exhaust areas.
Subtask 71-00-00-620-072-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL NOTE: The relative humidity must be at 40 percent or less inside the engine during the preservation time.
(1) Put 26 lb (11.8 kg) to 52 lb (23.6 kg) of dehydrating agent (Material No.P15-001) . Put half in the inlet and half in the tail pipe areas. Hang the dehydrating agent (Material No.P15-001) in all areas so that the agent does not touch the engine parts. the engine parts. (2) Put a relative INDICATOR-HUMIDITY inside the inlet and exhaust areas.
G. Seal the engine for storage as follows:
(1) Install the 636-1100-4GSE INLET COWL LIP COVER, 636-3000-11GSE TR C DUCT COVER and 636-4000-23GSE EXHAUST COVER over the engine intake area.
(2) Install the 636-1100-4GSE INLET COWL LIP COVER, 636-3000-11GSE TR C DUCT COVER and 636-4000-23GSE EXHAUST COVER over the engine exhaust area.
(3) Make sure that the protective covers have windows and that you can see the relative humidity indicators inside the engine.
Subtask 71-00-00-970-063-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Install the 636-1100-4GSE INLET COWL LIP COVER, 636-3000-11GSE TR C DUCT COVER and 636-4000-23GSE EXHAUST COVER over the engine intake area.

- If the relative humidity is more than 60 percent, do the preservation procedure again by method I (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-550-804) for 60 days or less, or method II (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-550-803) for 60 days or more, in accordance with the predicted storage time.
J. If any of the preservation limits have been exceeded, the following inspections must be completed prior to starting the engine:

(1) Borescope the fan-drive gear system gears to inspect for corrosion (Ref. AMM TASK 72-15-00-200-801). - THE ENGINE METAL TEMPERATURE IS NOT LESS THAN THE OUTSIDE AIR TEMPERATURE, AND
- THE OUTSIDE AIR RELATIVE HUMIDITY IS NOT HIGHER THAN 60 PERCENT. THIS IS TO PROTECT THE COMPONENTS FROM CONDENSATION AND AMBIENT AIR WHICH CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THEM.
(2) No amount of corrosion pitting is acceptable.

(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-410-802):

(1) Remove the access platform(s).
(2) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-802):

(b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)

(c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position.
(d) Make sure that all the circuit breakers shown in the paragraph Procedure of the engine interface unit installation are closed. If they are not, close them in the recommended sequence

(1) Remove the access platform(s).
(2) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-802):
