(1) Removal of the protection covers:
(2) Find the Main Gear Box (MGB) (1) attached to the engine at the 6 o'clock position.
(3) If necessary, remove the fan exit liner segments (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-08-000-801).

CAUTION:
REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE OPENINGS AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE.
(a) Make sure that you remove all the necessary COVER - PROTECTION to prevent damage to the engine.(2) Find the Main Gear Box (MGB) (1) attached to the engine at the 6 o'clock position.
(3) If necessary, remove the fan exit liner segments (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-08-000-801).
C. Remove the following components from the MGB:
(1) Remove the engine drain mast (Ref. AMM TASK 71-71-01-000-802).
(2) Remove the drain tubes (FB02), (DR01), (DR11), (DR21), (DR22), (DR41), (DR51), (DR121) and (DR131) (Ref. AMM TASK 71-71-49-000-801).
(3) Remove the Integrated Drive Generator (IDG) (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-51-000-803).
(4) Remove the engine driven pump (Ref. AMM TASK 29-11-51-000-805) and (Ref. AMM TASK 29-13-51-000-806).
(5) Remove the Integrated Fuel Pump and Control (IFPC) (Ref. AMM TASK 73-11-01-000-801).
(6) Remove the fuel return pump (Ref. AMM TASK 73-13-02-000-801).
(7) Remove the fuel oil manifold (Ref. AMM TASK 73-11-02-000-801).
(8) Remove the lubrication and scavenge oil pump (Ref. AMM TASK 79-21-01-000-801).
(9) Remove the Variable Oil Reduction Valve (VORV) (Ref. AMM TASK 79-21-15-000-801).
(10) Remove the oil control module (Ref. AMM TASK 79-21-02-000-801).
(11) Remove the Permanent Magnet Alternator (PMA) (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-05-000-801).
(12) Remove the starter (Ref. AMM TASK 80-11-01-000-801).
(13) Remove the MGB oil supply tube (LP35) (Ref. AMM D/O 79-21-49-00).
(14) Remove the Angle Gearbox (AGB) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-62-01-000-801).

D. Removal of the MGB
(1) Put the CONTAINER 20L (5 USGAL) in position under the MGB (1).
(2) Remove the tube (FD01) (15) from the Compressor Intermediate Case (CIC) firewall and the four brackets as follows:
(a) Remove the two bolts (16) and the bracket (17) from the tube (FD01) and the CIC firewall.
(b) Disconnect the tube (FD01) (15) from the tube (FD02).
(c) Remove the tube (FD01) (15) from the fuel flow divider (Ref. AMM TASK 73-11-03-000-801).
(d) Remove the four bolts (2) from the four clamps (14) and the four brackets.
(3) Remove the tube (FD04) (33) from the tube (FD03) as follows:
(b) Remove the two bolts (28) and the bracket (27) from the MGB (1).
(c) Remove the two bolts (30), the clamp (29) and the bracket (31) from the manifold (LR02) and the MGB (1).
(4) Disconnect the tube (LB60) and the manifold (LR40) from the MGB (1) as follows:
Disconnection of the Tube (LB60), Manifold (LR40), Tube (LR46) and Ground Strap ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
(a) Remove the three bolts (47), the bracket (46) and the face seal (45) from the tube (LB60) and the MGB (1).
(b) Remove the three bolts (43) and the face seal (44) from the manifold (LR40) and the MGB (1).
(5) Disconnect the tube (LR46) and the ground strap from the MGB (1) as follows:
Disconnection of the Tube (LB60), Manifold (LR40), Tube (LR46) and Ground Strap ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
(a) Remove the three bolts (58) and the face seal (57) from the tube (LR46) and the MGB (1).
(b) Remove the bolt (56) from the ground strap and the MGB (1).
(6) Disconnect the manifold (LB30) from the MGB (1) as follows:
(b) Remove the three bolts (68) and the metering seal (67) from the manifold (LB30) and the MGB (1).
(7) Attach the PWA80611 JACK-HYDRAULIC to the MGB (1) as follows:
Installation of the Handling Fixture and Removal of the Left Connecting Link, Main Gearbox Brackets and Tube (FD01) ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
(b) Tighten each bolt gradually until the PWA211305 ADAPTER HANDLING is fully installed on the PWA80611 JACK-HYDRAULIC.
(c) Lift the PWA80611 JACK-HYDRAULIC until the PWA211305 ADAPTER HANDLING engages with the MGB (1).
(d) Install the three captive bolts of the PWA211305 ADAPTER HANDLING on the three MGB (1) threaded bosses.
(e) Tighten each captive bolt gradually until the PWA211305 ADAPTER HANDLING is fully installed on the MGB (1).
(8) Remove the connecting link (90) from the CIC mount bracket (left) and the MGB (1) as follows:
Installation of the Handling Fixture and Removal of the Left Connecting Link, Main Gearbox Brackets and Tube (FD01) ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
(a) Remove the bolt (94), bushing (93), washer (89) and nut (88) from the CIC mount bracket (left) and the connecting link (90).
(b) Remove the bolt (92), washer (89) and nut (88) from the CIC mount bracket (left) and the connecting link (90).
(c) Remove the bolt (91), washer (89), nut (88) and connecting link (90) from the MGB (1).
(9) Use the PWA80611 JACK-HYDRAULIC to remove the MGB (1) as follows:
(a) Remove the bolt (106), bushing (107), washer (89) and nut (88) from the connecting link (108) and the CIC mount bracket (right).
(b) Remove the bolt (105), washer (89) and nut (88) from the connecting link (108) and the CIC mount bracket (right).
(c) Remove the bolt (104), washer (89), nut (88) and connecting link (108) from the MGB (1).
(d) Remove the bolt (119), washer (89) and nut (88) from the connecting link (121) and the flange E mount bracket.
Disconnection of the Main Gearbox from the Flange E Mount Bracket and from the Right Flange H Mount Bracket ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
(e) Remove the bolt (120), washer (89) and nut (88) from the connecting link (121) and the flange E mount bracket.
(f) Remove the bolt (118), washer (89), nut (88) and connecting link (121) from the MGB (1) and the connecting link (121).
(g) Remove the two bolts (128), the washers (135) and the nuts (134) from the flange H mount bracket (right) and the connecting link (133).
Disconnection of the Main Gearbox from the Flange E Mount Bracket and from the Right Flange H Mount Bracket ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
(h) Remove the bolt (119), washer (89) and nut (88) from the connecting link (121) and the flange H mount bracket (left).
(i) Remove the bolt (120), washer (89) and nut (88) from the connecting link (121) and the flange H mount bracket (left).
(j) Remove the bolt (145), washer (89), nut (88) and connecting link (121) from the MGB (1) and the connecting link (121).
(k) Use the PWA80611 JACK-HYDRAULIC to lower the MGB (1).
(l) Remove the bolt (132), bushing (131), washer (130), nut (129) and connecting link (133) from the MGB (1).
Disconnection of the Main Gearbox from the Flange E Mount Bracket and from the Right Flange H Mount Bracket ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
(10) If necessary, remove the 12 bolts (155) and the brackets (156), (157), (158), (159), (160) and (161) from the MGB (1).
Installation of the Handling Fixture and Removal of the Left Connecting Link, Main Gearbox Brackets and Tube (FD01) ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
(11) Remove the tube (FD01) (15) and the bracket (171) from the MGB (1) as follows:
Installation of the Handling Fixture and Removal of the Left Connecting Link, Main Gearbox Brackets and Tube (FD01) ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
(a) Remove the bolt (2), clamp (14) and tube (FD01) (15) from the bracket (171).
(b) Remove the two bolts (155) and the bracket (171) from the MGB (1).
(12) Remove the MGB (1) from the PWA80611 JACK-HYDRAULIC as follows:
(a) Attach a hoist to the PWA111736 FIXTURE, LIFT - MAIN GEARBOX ASSEMBLY.
(b) Install the three PWA111736 FIXTURE, LIFT - MAIN GEARBOX ASSEMBLY lift arms on the three MGB (1) mount lugs with the three detail bolts and tighten them with your hand.
(c) Remove the three bolts from the PWA80611 JACK-HYDRAULIC. See sheet 1 of the figure:
Installation of the Handling Fixture and Removal of the Left Connecting Link, Main Gearbox Brackets and Tube (FD01) ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
(d) Lift the MGB (1) and the PWA211305 ADAPTER HANDLING with the hoist.
(e) Lower the MGB (1) and the PWA211305 ADAPTER HANDLING onto a workbench with the hoist.
(f) Remove the PWA111736 FIXTURE, LIFT - MAIN GEARBOX ASSEMBLY from the MGB (1).
(g) Remove the hoist from the PWA111736 FIXTURE, LIFT - MAIN GEARBOX ASSEMBLY.
(13) Installation of the protection covers:
(1) Put the CONTAINER 20L (5 USGAL) in position under the MGB (1).
(2) Remove the tube (FD01) (15) from the Compressor Intermediate Case (CIC) firewall and the four brackets as follows:
(a) Remove the two bolts (16) and the bracket (17) from the tube (FD01) and the CIC firewall.
(b) Disconnect the tube (FD01) (15) from the tube (FD02).
(c) Remove the tube (FD01) (15) from the fuel flow divider (Ref. AMM TASK 73-11-03-000-801).
(d) Remove the four bolts (2) from the four clamps (14) and the four brackets.
(3) Remove the tube (FD04) (33) from the tube (FD03) as follows:
CAUTION:
USE A SECOND WRENCH TO HOLD THE MATING PARTS WHEN YOU LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE TUBE OR HOSE NUTS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS CAUTION, YOU CAN TWIST OR CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE TUBES OR HOSES.
(a) Disconnect the tube (FD04) (33) from the tube (FD03). (b) Remove the two bolts (28) and the bracket (27) from the MGB (1).
(c) Remove the two bolts (30), the clamp (29) and the bracket (31) from the manifold (LR02) and the MGB (1).
(4) Disconnect the tube (LB60) and the manifold (LR40) from the MGB (1) as follows:
Disconnection of the Tube (LB60), Manifold (LR40), Tube (LR46) and Ground Strap ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (b) Remove the three bolts (43) and the face seal (44) from the manifold (LR40) and the MGB (1).
(5) Disconnect the tube (LR46) and the ground strap from the MGB (1) as follows:
Disconnection of the Tube (LB60), Manifold (LR40), Tube (LR46) and Ground Strap ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (b) Remove the bolt (56) from the ground strap and the MGB (1).
(6) Disconnect the manifold (LB30) from the MGB (1) as follows:
CAUTION:
USE A SECOND WRENCH TO HOLD THE MATING PARTS WHEN YOU LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE TUBE OR HOSE NUTS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS CAUTION, YOU CAN TWIST OR CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE TUBES OR HOSES.
(a) Disconnect the tube (LB64) from the manifold (LB30). (b) Remove the three bolts (68) and the metering seal (67) from the manifold (LB30) and the MGB (1).
(7) Attach the PWA80611 JACK-HYDRAULIC to the MGB (1) as follows:
Installation of the Handling Fixture and Removal of the Left Connecting Link, Main Gearbox Brackets and Tube (FD01) ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL NOTE: The PWA211305 ADAPTER HANDLING can be installed in two positions, standard and 90 degrees turned, on the PWA80611 JACK-HYDRAULIC.
(a) Attach the PWA211305 ADAPTER HANDLING to the PWA80611 JACK-HYDRAULIC with the three detail bolts. (b) Tighten each bolt gradually until the PWA211305 ADAPTER HANDLING is fully installed on the PWA80611 JACK-HYDRAULIC.
(c) Lift the PWA80611 JACK-HYDRAULIC until the PWA211305 ADAPTER HANDLING engages with the MGB (1).
(d) Install the three captive bolts of the PWA211305 ADAPTER HANDLING on the three MGB (1) threaded bosses.
(e) Tighten each captive bolt gradually until the PWA211305 ADAPTER HANDLING is fully installed on the MGB (1).
(8) Remove the connecting link (90) from the CIC mount bracket (left) and the MGB (1) as follows:
Installation of the Handling Fixture and Removal of the Left Connecting Link, Main Gearbox Brackets and Tube (FD01) ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (b) Remove the bolt (92), washer (89) and nut (88) from the CIC mount bracket (left) and the connecting link (90).
(c) Remove the bolt (91), washer (89), nut (88) and connecting link (90) from the MGB (1).
(9) Use the PWA80611 JACK-HYDRAULIC to remove the MGB (1) as follows:
(a) Remove the bolt (106), bushing (107), washer (89) and nut (88) from the connecting link (108) and the CIC mount bracket (right).
(b) Remove the bolt (105), washer (89) and nut (88) from the connecting link (108) and the CIC mount bracket (right).
(c) Remove the bolt (104), washer (89), nut (88) and connecting link (108) from the MGB (1).
(d) Remove the bolt (119), washer (89) and nut (88) from the connecting link (121) and the flange E mount bracket.
Disconnection of the Main Gearbox from the Flange E Mount Bracket and from the Right Flange H Mount Bracket ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (f) Remove the bolt (118), washer (89), nut (88) and connecting link (121) from the MGB (1) and the connecting link (121).
(g) Remove the two bolts (128), the washers (135) and the nuts (134) from the flange H mount bracket (right) and the connecting link (133).
Disconnection of the Main Gearbox from the Flange E Mount Bracket and from the Right Flange H Mount Bracket ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (i) Remove the bolt (120), washer (89) and nut (88) from the connecting link (121) and the flange H mount bracket (left).
(j) Remove the bolt (145), washer (89), nut (88) and connecting link (121) from the MGB (1) and the connecting link (121).
(k) Use the PWA80611 JACK-HYDRAULIC to lower the MGB (1).
(l) Remove the bolt (132), bushing (131), washer (130), nut (129) and connecting link (133) from the MGB (1).
Disconnection of the Main Gearbox from the Flange E Mount Bracket and from the Right Flange H Mount Bracket ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
Installation of the Handling Fixture and Removal of the Left Connecting Link, Main Gearbox Brackets and Tube (FD01) ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
Installation of the Handling Fixture and Removal of the Left Connecting Link, Main Gearbox Brackets and Tube (FD01) ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (b) Remove the two bolts (155) and the bracket (171) from the MGB (1).
(12) Remove the MGB (1) from the PWA80611 JACK-HYDRAULIC as follows:
(a) Attach a hoist to the PWA111736 FIXTURE, LIFT - MAIN GEARBOX ASSEMBLY.
(b) Install the three PWA111736 FIXTURE, LIFT - MAIN GEARBOX ASSEMBLY lift arms on the three MGB (1) mount lugs with the three detail bolts and tighten them with your hand.
(c) Remove the three bolts from the PWA80611 JACK-HYDRAULIC. See sheet 1 of the figure:
Installation of the Handling Fixture and Removal of the Left Connecting Link, Main Gearbox Brackets and Tube (FD01) ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (e) Lower the MGB (1) and the PWA211305 ADAPTER HANDLING onto a workbench with the hoist.
(f) Remove the PWA111736 FIXTURE, LIFT - MAIN GEARBOX ASSEMBLY from the MGB (1).
(g) Remove the hoist from the PWA111736 FIXTURE, LIFT - MAIN GEARBOX ASSEMBLY.
(13) Installation of the protection covers:
CAUTION:
