3. Job Set-up

A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) are in position.
   (2) Make sure that the ground safety locks are installed on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
   (3) On panel 400VU:
  • Make sure that the landing-gear control-lever 6GA is in the DOWN position
  • Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the landing gear.
   (4) On panel 110VU, make sure that the GRAVITY GEAR EXTN handle is folded into the center console.
   (5) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position at the ground door opening panel, to tell persons not to operate the landing gear doors.
   (6) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) is in position below the applicable MLG.

4. Procedure
Subtask 32-12-13-420-052-A
A. Preparation for Installation
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (1) Clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
   (2) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
   (3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (4) Remove the nut (5) and the bolt (7) from the secondary hinged fairing (2).
   (5) Remove the lockwire from the locknuts (11) and (12).
   (6) Adjust the dimension X to 205 mm (8.0709 in.) (distance between centers). Loosen the locknuts (11) and (12) to let the actuating rod (3) turn a minimum of four turns.
   (7) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.06AEA1) to the interface of the hinge (1) and the secondary hinged fairing (2).
   (8) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Brushable - (Material No.06ABA1) to the bolts (7) and (10), but not the threads or the end.

B. Installation of the Secondary Hinged Fairing
   (1) Hold the secondary hinged fairing (2) in the correct position and install the bolts (10) and the nuts (9).
   (2) Install the bolt (7), the bonding tag (6) and the nut (5).
   (3) Install, bond and seal the bonding tag (6) to the hinge (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
   (4) TORQUE the nuts (5) and (9) to between 0.34 and 0.28 m.daN (30.09 and 24.78 lbf.in ) T.
   (5) Safety the nut (5) with a new
AIPC 52-81-11-01-010 COTTER PIN (4).
   (6) Safety the nuts (9) with new
AIPC 52-81-11-01-010 COTTER PINS (8).
   (7) Remove the access platform(s).
   (8) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.

E. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (2) On panel 40VU, make sure that the PTU-AUTO pushbutton switch OFF light is on.
   (3) Open the MLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
   (4) Make sure that a 460005835 SLEEVE - GROUND LOCK is on the applicable MLG door actuator.
   (5) Open the NLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-010-001).
   (6) Make sure that a 98D32203502000 SAFETY PIN - NLG DOOR is installed in each NLG door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-002).
   (7) Remove the ground lock sleeve from the applicable MLG.
   (8) Open the access panel 197CB to get access to the Green hydraulic-system ground-connection.
   (9) Connect a GROUND POWER CART-HYDRAULIC to the Green hydraulic-system ground-connection but do not pressurize the hydraulic system.
   (10) Retract the MLG:
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE EDGES OF THE FAIRINGS DO NOT HIT THE WING OPENING WHILE YOU RETRACT THE LANDING GEAR.
     (a) On panel 400VU, move the landing-gear control-lever 6GA to the UP position.
     (b) Retract the applicable landing gear with the hand pump on the ground hydraulic cart (or use the electric pump on a very low flow rate) until it is in the uplock position (on panel 402VU, the related red UNLK legend(s) go(es) off).
     (c) Depressurize the Green hydraulic system
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).

G. Adjustment of the Secondary Hinged Fairing
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE below the applicable zone:
  • For the left wing, below zone 733
  • For the right wing, below zone 743.
   (2) Get access to the actuating rod (3) through the fixed fairing aperture.
   (3) Adjust the actuating rod (3) to lift the door and make sure that the dimensions Y and Z at positions T, U, V, and W are correct:
  • The average of dimension Y at positions T and U must be between -2.5 mm (-0.0984 in.) and 2.0 mm (0.0787 in.)
  • The average of dimension Z at positions V and W must be between -2.5 mm (-0.0984 in.) and 2.0 mm (0.0787 in.).
   (4) Tighten the locknuts (11) and (12) with your hand.
   (5) Make a temporary mark with a Article-- Wax Crayon - (Material No.14TAC1) on the skin (forward and aft) in line with the inboard edge of the secondary hinged fairing.
NOTE: This is for the adjustment of the fixed fairing.
   (6) Remove the access platform(s).
   (7) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).

G. Adjustment of the Secondary Hinged Fairing
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE below the applicable zone:
  • For the left wing, below zone 733
  • For the right wing, below zone 743.
   (2) Get access to the actuating rod (3) through the fixed fairing aperture.
   (3) Adjust the actuating rod (3) to lift the door and make sure that the dimensions Y and Z at positions T, U, V, and W are correct:
  • The average of dimension Y at positions T and U must be between -3.5 mm (-0.1378 in.) and 3.0 mm (0.1181 in.).
  • The average of dimension Z at positions V and W must be between -3.5 mm (-0.1378 in.) and 3.0 mm (0.1181 in.).
   (4) Tighten the locknuts (11) and (12) with your hand.
   (5) Make a temporary mark with a Article-- Wax Crayon - (Material No.14TAC1) on the skin (forward and aft) in line with the inboard edge of the secondary hinged fairing.
NOTE: This is for the adjustment of the fixed fairing.
   (6) Remove the access platform(s).
   (7) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).

CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE FLOW RATE AND THE SUPPLY PRESSURE ON THE GROUND HYDRAULIC CART ARE SET TO A MINIMUM.
   (1) On the panel 400VU, move the landing-gear control-lever 6GA to the DOWN position.
   (2) Extend the applicable landing gear with the hand pump on the ground hydraulic cart (or use the electric pump on a very low flow rate) until locked in the DOWN position.
   (3) Depressurize the Green hydraulic system
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001).
   (4) Remove the ground hydraulic cart.

   (3) Disconnect the actuating rod (3) from the secondary hinged fairing (2) (Ref. AMM TASK 57-26-21-000-001).
   (4) Hold the actuating rod (3) in position at the secondary hinged fairing (2).
   (5) TORQUE the locknuts (11) and (12) to between 1.6 and 1.13 m.daN (141.59 and 100.00 lbf.in ) T.
   (6) Connect the actuating rod (3) to the secondary hinged fairing (2) (
Ref. AMM TASK 57-26-21-400-001).
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (7) Safety the locknuts (11) and (12) with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.

L. Close Access
   (1) Install the fixed fairing (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-14-400-001).

M. Dimensional Check
   (1) Do a check of the dimensions that follow and make sure that:
     (a) Dimension M is between 1.3 mm (0.0512 in.) and 10.7 mm (0.4213 in.).
     (b) Dimension X is between -3.5 mm (-0.1378 in.) and 3.5 mm (0.1378 in.).
   (2) If the dimensions M and X are not in the tolerances, adjust the dimensions that follow and make sure that:
     (a) Dimension K is between 2.5 mm (0.0984 in.) and 9.5 mm (0.3740 in.).
     (b) At position H, dimension N is between 1.5 mm (0.0591 in.) and 4.5 mm (0.1772 in.).
     (c) At position J, dimension N is between 0.5 mm (0.0197 in.) and 4.5 mm (0.1772 in.).
     (d) Dimension S is between 2.5 mm (0.0984 in.) and 9.5 mm (0.3740 in.).
     (e) Dimension R is between 14.0 mm (0.5512 in.) and 31.0 mm (1.2205 in.).
     (f) Dimension P is between -2.5 mm (-0.0984 in.) and 1.5 mm (0.0591 in.).
     (g) At the inboard end of the shroud box, dimension Q is between 2.5 mm (0.0984 in.) and 9.5 mm (0.3740 in.).
     (h) At the outboard end of the shroud box, dimension Q is between 3.2 mm (0.1260 in.) and 10.2 mm (0.4016 in.).
   (3) Do a check of dimensions M and X again and make sure that they are in the tolerances given in step (1).

   (1) Remove the temporary wax pencil marks from the skin at the inboard edge of the secondary hinged fairing.
   (2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (3) Remove the SAFETY BARRIER(S).
   (4) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
