(2) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
(3) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
(4) Make sure that the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS is correctly installed on the flap/slat control lever.
Subtask 57-27-11-860-064-A WARNING:
BEFORE YOU DO WORK IN OR NEAR A FUEL TANK, MAKE SURE THAT YOU OBEY ALL THE SAFETY PROCEDURES. THIS WILL PREVENT INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.
(1) You must obey the fuel safety procedures when you do work in a fuel tank, (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002). (2) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
(3) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
(4) Make sure that the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS is correctly installed on the flap/slat control lever.
B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the applicable fuel tank has been defueled (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001).
(2) Make sure that the remaining fuel has been drained from the applicable fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-003).

D. Get Access
(1) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT)- ADJUSTABLE is in position below the applicable access panel at zone 540(640).
(2) Make sure that you removed the forward and aft fixed fairings from flap track No. 4 (Ref. AMM TASK 57-55-11-000-001):
(3) For panel 540PB ( 640PB):
Subtask 57-27-11-010-062-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT)- ADJUSTABLE is in position below the applicable access panel at zone 540(640).
(2) Make sure that you removed the forward and aft fixed fairings from flap track No. 4 (Ref. AMM TASK 57-55-11-000-001):
(3) For panel 540PB ( 640PB):
- Make sure that you removed the bolts (13) and the flap-track fairing support-bracket (12).
D. Get Access
(1) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT)- ADJUSTABLE is in position below the applicable access panel, zone 540(640).
(2) Make sure that the forward and aft fixed fairings of the flap track 4 have been removed (Ref. AMM TASK 57-55-11-000-004):
4. Procedure(1) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT)- ADJUSTABLE is in position below the applicable access panel, zone 540(640).
(2) Make sure that the forward and aft fixed fairings of the flap track 4 have been removed (Ref. AMM TASK 57-55-11-000-004):

A. Preparation of a Component for Installation
(1) Examine the applicable sealing ring (1) thru (8) for damage. If necessary remove and discard it.
(2) Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean:
Subtask 57-27-11-420-059-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Examine the applicable sealing ring (1) thru (8) for damage. If necessary remove and discard it.
(2) Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean:
- The groove in the access panel (11) for the applicable sealing ring (1) thru (8)
- The interface of the access panel (11) and the wing bottom skin (9).
- The access panel (11)
- The wing bottom skin (9)
- The bolt holes in the access panel (11).
B. Preparation for Installation
(1) For the panel 550CB( 650CB), make sure that the overpressure protector is installed (Ref. AMM TASK 28-12-41-400-001).
(2) Apply a thin layer of Coating Sealant-Fuel Tank Brushable - (Material No.06HAA1) to the groove in the access panel (11) for the applicable sealing ring (1) thru (8).
(3) While the sealant is wet, put the applicable sealing ring (1) thru (8) (flat edge down) in the groove in the access panel (11):
(5) Apply a thin layer of Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the bolts (10). Apply to the shank, the threads and below the head of each bolt (10).
Subtask 57-27-11-420-059-D ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) For the panel 550CB( 650CB), make sure that the overpressure protector is installed (Ref. AMM TASK 28-12-41-400-001).

(5) Apply a thin layer of Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the bolts (10). Apply to the shank, the threads and below the head of each bolt (10).
B. Preparation for Installation
(1) For the panel 550CB( 650CB), make sure that the overpressure protector is installed (Ref. AMM TASK 28-12-41-400-001).
(2) Apply a thin layer of Coating Sealant-Fuel Tank Brushable - (Material No.06HAA1) to the groove in the access panel (11) for the applicable sealing ring (1) thru (8).
(3) While the sealant is wet, put the applicable sealing ring (1) thru (8) (flat edge down) in the groove in the access panel (11):
(5) Apply a thin layer of Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the bolts (10). Apply to the shank, the threads and below the head of each bolt (10).

(1) For the panel 550CB( 650CB), make sure that the overpressure protector is installed (Ref. AMM TASK 28-12-41-400-001).
(2) Apply a thin layer of Coating Sealant-Fuel Tank Brushable - (Material No.06HAA1) to the groove in the access panel (11) for the applicable sealing ring (1) thru (8).
(3) While the sealant is wet, put the applicable sealing ring (1) thru (8) (flat edge down) in the groove in the access panel (11):
(5) Apply a thin layer of Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the bolts (10). Apply to the shank, the threads and below the head of each bolt (10).

(2) Apply a thin layer of Coating Sealant-Fuel Tank Brushable - (Material No.06HAA1) to the groove in the access panel (11) for the applicable sealing ring (1) thru (8).
(3) While the sealant is wet, put the applicable sealing ring (1) thru (8) (flat edge down) in the groove in the access panel (11):
(5) Apply a thin layer of Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the bolts (10). Apply to the shank, the threads and below the head of each bolt (10).
Subtask 57-27-11-420-052-A (1) For the panel 550CB( 650CB), make sure that the overpressure protector is installed (Ref. AMM TASK 28-12-41-400-001).
(2) Apply a thin layer of Coating Sealant-Fuel Tank Brushable - (Material No.06HAA1) to the groove in the access panel (11) for the applicable sealing ring (1) thru (8).
(3) While the sealant is wet, put the applicable sealing ring (1) thru (8) (flat edge down) in the groove in the access panel (11):

(4) Apply a thin layer of Mineral Oil base Grease-- Vaseline or Petrolatum - (Material No.03FAB1) to the mating face of the applicable sealing ring (1) thru (8). (5) Apply a thin layer of Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the bolts (10). Apply to the shank, the threads and below the head of each bolt (10).
C. Installation of the Access Panel
(1) Make sure that there are no unwanted objects and materials, tools or other equipment in the wing.
(2) Make sure that all of the bonding leads (Ref. AMM TASK 28-18-00-200-002):
(6) Install the access panel (11).
(7) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the fastener bolt (10) holes.
(8) Put the access panel (11) in position on the wing.

Subtask 57-27-11-865-053-A (1) Make sure that there are no unwanted objects and materials, tools or other equipment in the wing.

- Are in position and connected correctly
- Are not damaged or broken
- Show no sign of corrosion.
CAUTION:
YOU MUST FOLLOW THESE STEPS OF THE PROCEDURE ACCURATELY. THIS WILL PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE PARTS.
(4) For the access panel 550AB ( 650AB), refer to (Ref. AMM TASK 28-12-47-400-001). NOTE: If the overpressure protector has been removed from the access panel 550CB ( 650CB), refer to (Ref. AMM TASK 28-12-41-400-001).
(5) Remove the identification label from the access panel (11). (6) Install the access panel (11).
(7) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the fastener bolt (10) holes.
(8) Put the access panel (11) in position on the wing.
CAUTION:
YOU MUST REMOVE AND INSTALL THE BOLTS IN THE SPECIFIED SEQUENCE. THIS WILL PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ACCESS PANEL.
(9) Install the bolts (10) and loosely engage the threads. NOTE: The access panels (11) do not have the same quantity of the bolts (10), but the sequence is the same.
(10) Not applicable CAUTION:
YOU MUST TIGHTEN AND TORQUE THE BOLTS IN THE CORRECT SEQUENCE TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE COMPONENTS.
(11) TORQUE the bolts (10) in the sequence A thru AF, as follows:

- Put the TEST switch to the HI LVL position and hold it there
- Make sure that the applicable HI LVL light goes out.
(e) On panel 800VU:
- Put the applicable wing tank REFUEL VALVES switch to the SHUT position
- Make sure that the fuel-flow from the water drain valve decreases and stops.
(g) On the panel 800VU:
- Put the applicable wing tank REFUEL VALVES switch to the OPEN position
- Make sure that the opposite wing tank REFUEL VALVES switch is in the SHUT position
- Hold the TEST switch in the HI LVL position.
(i) On the panel 800VU:
- Put the applicable wing tank REFUEL VALVES switch to the SHUT position.
(k) On the panel 800VU:
- Release the TEST switch from the HI LVL position
- Make sure that the applicable HI LVL light comes on
- Put all of the REFUEL VALVES switches to the NORM and guarded position
- Put the MODE SELECT switch to the OFF and guarded position.
(5) If the access panels 550CB ( 650CB) thru to 550DB ( 650DB) have been removed, do the steps that follow:
(a) Refuel the applicable wing tank fully and keep the fuel tanker connected to the aircraft (Ref. AMM TASK 12-11-28-650-003).
(b) Put a CONTAINER 20L (5 USGAL) on the access platform below the applicable water drain valve 21QM(22QM). Use the 97A28002117002 TOOL-PURGING to open the water drain valve (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-003).
(c) On panel 800VU:
- Put the MODE SELECT switch to REFUEL
- Put the applicable wing tank REFUEL VALVES switch to the OPEN position
- Put the opposite wing tank REFUEL VALVES switch to the SHUT position
- Put the TEST switch to the HI LVL position and hold it there
- Make sure that the applicable HI LVL light goes out.
(e) On panel 800VU:
- put the applicable wing tank REFUEL VALVES switch to the SHUT position
- make sure that the fuel-flow from the water drain valve decreases and stops.

(a) Refuel the applicable wing tank fully and keep the fuel tanker connected to the aircraft (Ref. AMM TASK 12-11-28-650-003).
(b) Put a CONTAINER 20L (5 USGAL) on the access platform below the applicable water drain valve 21QM(22QM). Use the 97A28002117002 TOOL-PURGING to open the water drain valve (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-003).
(c) On panel 800VU:
- Put the MODE SELECT switch to REFUEL
- Put the applicable wing tank REFUEL VALVES switch to the OPEN position
- Put the opposite wing tank REFUEL VALVES switch to the SHUT position
- Put the TEST switch to the HI LVL position and hold it there
- Make sure that the applicable HI LVL light goes out.
(e) On panel 800VU:
- Put the applicable wing tank REFUEL VALVES switch to the SHUT position
- Make sure that the fuel-flow from the water drain valve decreases and stops.
(g) On the panel 800VU:
- Put the applicable wing tank REFUEL VALVES switch to the OPEN position
- Make sure that the opposite wing tank REFUEL VALVES switch is in the SHUT position
- Hold the TEST switch in the HI LVL position.
(i) On the panel 800VU:
- Put the applicable wing tank REFUEL VALVES switch to the SHUT position.
(k) On the panel 800VU:
- Release the TEST switch from the HI LVL position
- Make sure that the applicable HI LVL light comes on
- Put all of the REFUEL VALVES switches to the NORM and guarded position
- Put the MODE SELECTOR switch to the OFF and guarded position.
I. Test
(1) Do a status report (BITE) of the fuel quantity indicating system (Ref. AMM TASK 28-42-00-740-001).
(2) Do a functional (BITE) test of the fuel quantity sensors (Ref. AMM TASK 28-46-00-740-001).
(3) Examine the access panel you have installed for leaks.
Subtask 57-27-11-790-059-A (1) Do a status report (BITE) of the fuel quantity indicating system (Ref. AMM TASK 28-42-00-740-001).

(2) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
Subtask 57-27-11-960-051-F ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) If you have done a fuel tank repair and there is a risk of unwanted material remaining in the tank:
(a) Start the engine and let it operate to flush the contamination from the fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-003) or (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-004).
(b) Replace the fuel filter (Ref. AMM TASK 73-11-10-920-001) at scheduled intervals, refer to (Ref. MPD 730000-C4-1) for scheduled replacement intervals.
(2) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) If you did a fuel tank repair and there is a risk of unwanted material remaining in the tank, do the steps that follow:
(a) Start the engine and let it operate to flush the contamination from the fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-823) or (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-822).
(b) If necessary, replace the fuel filter cartridge (Ref. AMM TASK 73-11-06-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 73-11-06-400-801).
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
Subtask 57-27-11-860-063-A (1) If you did a fuel tank repair and there is a risk of unwanted material remaining in the tank, do the steps that follow:
(a) Start the engine and let it operate to flush the contamination from the fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-823) or (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-822).
(b) If necessary, replace the fuel filter cartridge (Ref. AMM TASK 73-11-06-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 73-11-06-400-801).
NOTE: Airbus recommends to replace the fuel filter cartridge at 500FH and 1500FH after delivery, after you do work on the tank or as described in (Ref. AMM TASK 73-11-06-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 73-11-06-400-801).
(2) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
C. Aircraft Configuration
(1) For the access panels 550BB ( 650BB) and 550DB ( 650DB):
(3) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
Subtask 57-27-11-942-050-A (1) For the access panels 550BB ( 650BB) and 550DB ( 650DB):
- Defuel the applicable wing tank as necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001).
NOTE: While the wing tank pump operates, its related jet pump defuels the vent surge tank.
(2) Refuel (Ref. AMM TASK 12-11-28-650-003), defuel (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001) or transfer fuel (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-869-001) as necessary. (3) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
D. Removal of Equipment
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Remove the safety barriers.
(3) Remove the access platform(s).
(4) Remove the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS from the flap/slat control lever.
(5) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(6) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Remove the safety barriers.
(3) Remove the access platform(s).
(4) Remove the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS from the flap/slat control lever.
(5) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(6) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
