A. Safety Precautions
(1) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
(2) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the flaps are fully retracted (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-009).
(2) Install the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS on the flap/slat control-lever.
(3) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT) in position below the applicable fairing at flap track 2, 3 or 4, zone 531(631), 532(632) or 533(633).

4. Procedure
Subtask 57-55-11-020-050-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

A. Removal of the Flap Track Fairing

CAUTION: YOU MUST FOLLOW THESE STEPS OF THE PROCEDURE ACCURATELY. THIS WILL PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE PARTS.

(1) Remove applicable forward fixed fairing 531AB(631AB), 532AB(632AB) or 533AB(633AB):
(a) Remove the bolts (2).
(b) Carefully move the forward fixed fairing forward to disengage the spigot (6) from the keyhole plate.
(c) Hold the forward fixed fairing until the bonding strap (1) disconnects.

NOTE: The forward fixed fairing is connected with the bonding strap (1) to the support bracket of the aft fixed fairing.

(d) For the track 2 and track 3 positions, remove the nut (8) and the bolt (7) and disconnect the bonding straps (1) and (14).
(e) For the track 4 position, remove the bolt (17) and disconnect the bonding straps (1) and (16).
(2) Remove applicable aft fixed fairing 531BB(631BB), 532BB(632BB) or 533BB(633BB):
(a) Remove the applicable covers (3):
1 For the track 2 position, remove the screws (4) and the covers (3) 531AR(631AR), 531AL(631AL).
2 For the track 3 position, remove the screws (4) and the covers (3) 532AR(632AR), 532AL(632AL).
3 For the track 4 position, remove the screws (4) and the covers (3) 533AR(633AR), 533AL(633AL).
(b) For the track 2 and track 3 positions:

WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.

1 Remove and discard the cotter pin (9).
2 Remove the nut (10) and the washer (11).
3 Hold the aft fixed fairing and remove the bolts (5) and (13).
4 Remove the aft fixed fairing.
(c) For the track 4 position, remove the bolts (5) and move the aft fixed fairing forward to disengage the spigot (15) from the keyhole plate.
(3) Remove applicable movable fairing 531CB(631CB), 532CB(632CB) or 533CB(633CB).
(a) Remove the screws (19) and the applicable top cover (18) 531AT(631AT), 532AT(632AT) or 533AT(633AT).
(b) Remove the bolt (55) and the washer (56) and disconnect the bonding strap (57).
(c) Remove and discard the cotter pin (50).
(d) Remove the nut (49), the washer (48) and the bush (47).
(e) Hold the movable fairing and remove the bolt (58).
(f) Carefully lower the movable fairing to get access to the flap-track beam attachment (26).
(4) Disconnect the sidestay (24) from the flap-track beam attachment (26):
(a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (21).
(b) Hold the sidestay and remove the nut (20), the washer (22), the shims (23) and the bolt (25).
(c) Measure and record the thickness of the shims (23).
(5) To disconnect the movable fairing from the forward pivot, do these steps:
(a) Remove the nuts (29) and (37) and the bolts (32) and (39).
(b) Disconnect the bonding straps (28), (30) and (38).
(c) Carefully remove the push-fit covers (45) and the retainers (59).

WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.

(d) Remove the lockwires from the bolts (44) and the splined fittings (43).
(e) Discard the lockwires.
(f) Hold the movable fairing and remove the bolts (44). Pull and remove the splined fittings (43).
(g) Remove the movable fairing and the adjusters (42).
(6) If necessary, for the track 2 position, remove the link assemblies (31) and (40) as follows:
(a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (34).
(b) Remove the nut (36) and the washer (35).
(c) Remove the bolt (41) and the washers (33).
(d) Remove the link assemblies (31) and (40).
(7) If necessary, for the track 3 and track 4 positions, remove the link assembly (31) as follows:
(a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (34).
(b) Remove the nut (36) and the washer (35).
(c) Remove the bolt (27) and the washers (33).
(d) Remove the link assembly (31).
