Removal of the Fuel Filter Element

E. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
Subtask 73-11-06-010-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805). F. Get Access
(1) Open the right thrust-reverser cowl-door (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):

4. Procedure(1) Open the right thrust-reverser cowl-door (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):

A. Removal of the Fuel Element
(2) Remove the fuel filter element (3) from the fuel manifold as follows:
(a) Put the CONTAINER 20L (5 USGAL) below the fuel filter bowl (2).
(b) Push the ratchet lever on the fuel filter housing to the open position.
(d) Remove the fuel filter element (3) from the fuel filter housing.
(e) Remove and discard the packing (1) from the fuel filter housing.
(f) Put the fuel filter element (3) in the BAG - PLASTIC.
(g) Examine the inside of the fuel filter housing and the fuel filter bowl (2) to make sure that no detail seals of the fuel filter element (3) are stuck inside.
(h) Use the FLASHLIGHT to examine inside the fuel filter housing for any solid contamination.
1 If you see any contamination, collect it in a piece of clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.P05-005) .
2 Put the lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.P05-005) with the contamination in the BAG - PLASTIC with the fuel filter element (3).
(3) If necessary, send the fuel filter element (3) to the shop for analysis as follows:
(a) Make a record of the aircraft tail number, engine serial number and date.
(b) Send the fuel filter element (3) to the shop for analysis.
(4) Installation of the protection covers:
WARNING:
DO NOT GET FUEL IN YOUR MOUTH, EYES OR ON YOUR SKIN. DO NOT BREATHE THE FUMES FROM THE FUEL. KEEP THE FUEL AWAY FROM SPARKS, FLAME AND HEAT. FUEL IS POISONOUS AND FLAMMABLE, WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION:
YOU MUST NOT LET ENGINE FUEL OR OIL FALL ON THE ENGINE. UNWANTED FUEL OR OIL MUST BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY WITH A CLEAN LINT-FREE CLOTH. THE FUEL OR OIL CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE PROTECTION AND TO SOME PARTS.
CAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
(1) Find the fuel filter housing attached to the fuel manifold on the top of the main gearbox at the 4 o'clock position. (2) Remove the fuel filter element (3) from the fuel manifold as follows:
(a) Put the CONTAINER 20L (5 USGAL) below the fuel filter bowl (2).
(b) Push the ratchet lever on the fuel filter housing to the open position.
NOTE: The ratchet lever will remain in the open position.
(c) Turn and remove the fuel filter bowl (2). (d) Remove the fuel filter element (3) from the fuel filter housing.
(e) Remove and discard the packing (1) from the fuel filter housing.
(f) Put the fuel filter element (3) in the BAG - PLASTIC.
(g) Examine the inside of the fuel filter housing and the fuel filter bowl (2) to make sure that no detail seals of the fuel filter element (3) are stuck inside.
(h) Use the FLASHLIGHT to examine inside the fuel filter housing for any solid contamination.

CAUTION:
INSTALL PROTECTION COVERS ON ALL THE OPENINGS IMMEDIATELY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
(a) Make sure that you install the COVER - PROTECTION as necessary to prevent damage to the engine.
