   (1) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
   (2) Make sure that the safety barriers are in position.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the flaps are fully retracted (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-009).
   (2) Make sure that the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS is on the flap/slat control-lever.
   (3) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT) is in position below the applicable fairing at flap track 2, 3 or 4, zone 531(631), 532(632) or 533(633).

4. Procedure
Subtask 57-55-11-420-072-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
Subtask 57-55-11-420-050-G ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Installation of the Flap Track Fairings
WARNING: SUPPORT THE UNIT/ASSEMBLY. THE UNIT/ASSEMBLY IS HEAVY. IF YOU DO NOT SUPPORT IT, IT WILL FALL. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS, AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (1) Install the applicable movable fairing as follows:
NOTE: The weight of the fairing is approximately 18 kg (39.7 lb).
     (a) Lubricate the splines of the adjusters (42) and the splined fittings (43) with Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) .
NOTE: For lubricant grease specification and lubrication requirements, refer to (Ref. AMM D/O 12-22-00-00).
NOTE: You can use Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) as an alternative to Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) . It is necessary to clean and remove the grease from the parts before you use an alternative grease.
     (b) Install the adjusters (42) and make sure that they are adjusted fully into their mountings.
     (c) Align the movable fairing at the forward pivot, then install the splined fittings (43).
     (d) If necessary, for the track 3 and 4 positions, install the link assembly (31) as follows:
       1 Align the link assembly (31) with the movable fairing.
       2 Install the bolt (27), the washers (33) and (35) and the nut (36).
       3 Torque the nut (36) to between 0.37 and 0.28 m.daN (32.74 and 24.78 lbf.in ) T.
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
       4 Safety the nut (36) with a new cotter pin (34):
       5 Install the link assembly (31).
     (e) If necessary, for the track 2 position, install the link assemblies (31) and (40) as follows:
       1 Align the link assemblies (31) and (40) with the movable fairing.
       2 Install the bolt (41), the washers (33) and (35) and the nut (36).
       3 Torque the nut (36) to between 0.37 and 0.28 m.daN (32.74 and 24.78 lbf.in )
T.
       4 Safety the nut (36) with a new
AIPC 57-55-05-02-150 COTTER PIN (34).
       5 Install the link assemblies (31) and (40).
   (2) For the track 2, the track 3 and the track 4 positions, align the control rod (54) with the flap drive arm (46).
   (3) Temporarily install the bolt (58), the bush (47), the washer (48) and the nut (49).
   (4) Temporarily install the forward and the aft fixed fairings as follows:
     (a) For the track 2 and the track 3 positions:
       1 Install the aft fixed fairing with the bolts (5), the bolts (13), the washers (11) and the nuts (10). Do not fully tighten the nuts (10).
       2 Locate the spigot (6) in the key-hole plate.
       3 Install the forward fixed fairing with the bolts (2).
     (b) For the track 4 position:
       1 Connect the aft fixed fairing spigot (15) in the key-hole plate and install the bolts (5).
       2 Locate the spigot (6) in the key-hole plate.
       3 Connect the forward fixed fairing with the bolts (2).
   (5) Do a check of the fairing rigged position as follows:
     (a) For the track 3 and the track 4 positions, measure the dimension 'a', which must be between 5 mm (0.1969 in.) and 8 mm (0.3150 in.).
     (b) For the track 2 position, measure the dimension 'a', which must be between 4 mm (0.1575 in.) and 8 mm (0.3150 in.).
     (c) Measure the dimension 'b', which must be between 7 mm (0.2756 in.) and 11 mm (0.4331 in.).
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (6) For the track 2 and the track 3 positions, adjust the length of the rod end (12). After adjustment, make sure that you can see the threads of the rod end (12) in its support bracket inspection hole. Safety with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
   (7) Adjust the splined fittings (43) as follows:
     (a) Turn the splined fitting (43) counterclockwise until the adjusters (42) touch the spherical bearings of the pivot.
     (b) Measure the dimension 'e' at each side of the pivot. The dimension must be between zero, +/- 1 mm (0.0394 in.). If necessary, turn the splined fittings (43) clockwise or counterclockwise, as applicable, until the dimension 'e' is correct.
     (c) Measure the dimension 'g', which must be 2 mm (0.0787 in.) minimum.
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (d) Install the bolts (44) finger tight and safety them with the 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy - to the splined fittings (43).
     (e) Apply a layer of Polysulfide Sealant_General Purpose Brushable - (Material No.
06AAA1) on the retainers (59) and the push-fit covers (45).
     (f) Install the retainers (59) and the push-fit covers (45).
   (8) At the track 2 and the track 3 positions, remove the bolts (2), (5) and (13), and remove the forward and aft fixed fairings.
   (9) At the track 4 position, remove the bolts (2) and (5), and remove the forward and aft fixed fairings.
   (10) Install the bonding straps (28), (30) and (38) with:
   (11) Install the top cover (18).
     (a) Temporarily install the top cover (18), with some of the screws (19).
     (b) Measure the dimension 'c', which must be between 9 mm (0.3543 in.) and 13 mm (0.5118 in.).
     (c) For the track 2 position, measure the dimension 'd', which must be between 14 mm (0.5512 in.) and 18 mm (0.7087 in.).
     (d) For the track 3 and the track 4 positions, measure the dimension 'd', which must be between 11 mm (0.4331 in.) and 15 mm (0.5906 in.).
     (e) For the track 2 position, measure the dimension 'f', which must be between 4 mm (0.1575 in.) and 6 mm (0.2362 in.).
     (f) For the track 3 and the track 4 positions, measure the dimension 'f', which must be between 1 mm (0.0394 in.) and 3 mm (0.1181 in.).
     (g) For the track 2, the track 3 and the track 4 positions, if the dimensions 'c', 'd' or 'f' are out of limits, continue as follows:
       1 Remove the screws (19), and the top cover (18).
       2 Hold the movable fairing and remove the nut (49), the washer (48), the bush (47) and the bolt (58).
       3 Release the tab washer (53) from the nut (52).
       4 Remove the nut (52), the rod end (51) and the tab washer (53).
       5 Discard the tab washer (53).
       6 Install the new tab washer (53), the nut (52) and the rod end (51).
       7 Adjust the rod end (51) as necessary and tighten the nut (52).
       8 Align the control rod (54) with the flap drive arm (46) and temporarily install the bolt (58), the bush (47), the washer (48) and the nut (49).
       9 Temporarily install the top cover (18) with some of the screws (19).
       10 Measure the dimensions 'c', 'd' and 'f' again.
       11 When the dimensions 'c', 'd' and 'f' are in limits, remove the screws (19) and the top cover (18).
   (12) Hold the movable fairing and remove the nut (49), the washer (48), the bush (47) and the bolt (58).
   (13) Lower the movable fairing sufficiently, to get access to the flap-track-beam attachment (26).
   (14) If you are to install a replacement fairing:
     (a) Measure the inner dimension of the flap-track-beam attachment (26), (dimension 'X').
     (b) Measure the outer dimension of the side-load stay (24), (dimension 'Y').
     (c) Calculate the difference between the dimensions.
     (d) Use the table that follows for the correct selection of shims.

NOTE: All the dimensions in the table are in millimeters.

   (15) Install the side-load stay (24) as follows:
     (a) Align the side-load stay (24) and the flap-track-beam rear attachment (26).
     (b) Install the bolt (25), the shims (23), the washer (22) and the nut (20).
     (c) Make sure that you install a minimum of one shim (23).
     (d) Measure and record the thickness of the shims (23).
     (e) TORQUE the nut (20) to between 1.8 and 1.7 m.daN (13.27 and 12.54 lbf.ft ) T.
     (f) Examine the related positions of the hole in the bolt (25) and the slot in the nut (20).
     (g) TORQUE the nut (20), until the next slot aligns with the hole, to 2.8 m.daN (20.65 lbf.ft) maximum.
     (h) Safety the nut (20) with a new cotter pin (21):
   (16) For the track 2, the track 3 and the track 4 positions:
     (a) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.
06AEA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Fillet Structure (Material No.06AEB2) to the interfaces of the sliding bush (47) and the bolt (58), but not to the threads.
     (b) Align the control rod (54) with the flap drive arm (46) and install the bolt (58), make sure that the chamfer on the bolt head (58) aligns with the chamfer on the flap drive arm (46), install the bush (47), the washer (48) and the nut (49).
     (c) For the track 3 and the track 4 positions, torque the nut (49) to between 1.1 and 0.9 m.daN (97.35 and 79.65 lbf.in ) T.
     (d) For the track 2 position, torque the nut (49) to between 1.5 and 1.4 m.daN (11.06 and 10.32 lbf.ft )
T.
     (e) Examine the related positions of the hole in the bolt (58) and the slot in the nut (49).
     (f) Torque the nut (49), until the next slot aligns with the hole to 2.0 m.daN (14.75 lbf.ft) maximum.
     (g) Safety the nut (49) with a new cotter pin (50):
     (h) Tighten the nut (52).
     (i) Safety the nut (52) with the new tab washer (53).
     (j) Install the bonding strap (57) with the bolt (55) and the washer (56) (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
   (17) Install the applicable top cover (18) as follows:
     (a) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.06AEA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Fillet Structure (Material No.06AEB2) to the interfaces of the top cover (18) and the screws (19), but not to the threads.
     (b) Install the top cover (18) with the screws (19).
     (c) Apply a bead of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) into the groove between the top cover (18) and the movable fairing.
     (d) Use Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and a SPATULA - PLASTIC, to make the bead smooth and level with the fairings.
   (18) Install the aft fixed fairing at the track 2 and the track 3 positions as follows:
     (a) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.06AEA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Fillet Structure (Material No.06AEB2) to the interfaces of:
  • The aft fixed fairing
  • The mounting brackets on the flap-track-beam
  • The covers (3)
  • The screws (4)
  • The bolts (5) and (13)
  • The washer (11).
NOTE: Make sure that the threads of the bolts (5), (13) and the screws (4) stay clean.
     (b) Install the aft fixed fairing with the bolts (5), (13), the washer (11) and the nut (10):
       1 Safety the nut (10) with a new cotter pin (9):
       2 TORQUE the bolts (5) to between 0.75 and 0.65 m.daN (66.37 and 57.52 lbf.in ) T.
     (c) Install the covers (3) with the screws (4).
     (d) TORQUE the screws (4) to between 0.23 and 0.17 m.daN (20.35 and 15.04 lbf.in )
T.
     (e) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.
06AEA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Fillet Structure (Material No.06AEB2) to the interfaces of:
  • The forward fixed fairing
  • The bolts (2).
NOTE: Make sure that the threads of the bolts (2) stay clean.
   (19) Install the aft fixed fairing at the track 4 position as follows:
     (a) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.06AEA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Fillet Structure (Material No.06AEB2) to the interfaces of:
  • The aft fixed fairing
  • The mounting brackets on the flap-track-beam
  • The covers (3)
  • The screws (4)
  • The bolts (5).
NOTE: Make sure that the threads of the bolts (5) and the screws (4) stay clean.
     (b) Apply a layer of Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) to the interfaces of:
  • The spigot (15)
  • The key-hole plate.
     (c) Engage the spigot (15) in its key-hole plate, then install the aft fixed fairing with the bolts (5).
     (d) TORQUE the bolts (5) to between 0.75 and 0.65 m.daN (66.37 and 57.52 lbf.in ) T.
     (e) Install the covers (3) and the screws (4).
     (f) TORQUE the screws (4) to between 0.23 and 0.17 m.daN (20.35 and 15.04 lbf.in )
T.
     (g) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.
06AEA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Fillet Structure (Material No.06AEB2) to the interfaces of:
  • The forward fixed fairing
  • The bolts (2).
NOTE: Make sure that the threads of the bolts (2) stay clean.
   (20) Install the applicable bonding straps as follows:
     (a) For the track 2 and the track 3 positions:
       1 Hold the forward fixed fairing and install the bonding straps (1) and (14) with:
     (b) For the track 4 position:
       1 Hold the forward fixed fairing and install the bonding straps (1) and (16) with the bolt (17) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
   (21) Install the applicable forward fixed fairing as follows:
     (a) Apply a layer of Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) to the interfaces of:
  • The spigot (6)
  • The key-hole plate.
     (b) Engage the spigot (6) into its key-hole plate and move the forward fixed fairing to the rear, then install the bolts (2).
     (c) TORQUE the bolts (2) to between 0.45 and 0.4 m.daN (39.82 and 35.40 lbf.in ) T.
     (d) Apply a bead of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.
06AAB1) into the groove between the forward and aft fixed fairings.
     (e) Use Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and a SPATULA - PLASTIC, to make the bead smooth and level with the fairings.

B. Installation of the Flap Track Fairings

   (1) Install the applicable movable fairing as follows:
NOTE: The weight of the fairing is approximately 18 kg (39.7 lb).
     (a) Lubricate the splines of the adjusters (42) and the splined fittings (43) with Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) .
NOTE: For lubricant grease specification and lubrication requirements, refer to (Ref. AMM D/O 12-22-00-00).
NOTE: You can use Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) as an alternative to Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) . It is necessary to clean and remove the grease from the parts before you use an alternative grease.
     (b) Install the adjusters (42) and make sure that they are adjusted fully into their mountings.
     (c) Align the movable fairing at the forward pivot, then install the splined fittings (43).
     (d) If necessary, for the track 3 and 4 positions, install the link assembly (31) as follows:
       1 Align the link assembly (31) with the movable fairing.
       2 Install the bolt (27), the washers (33) and (35) and the nut (36).
       3 Torque the nut (36) to between 0.37 and 0.28 m.daN (32.74 and 24.78 lbf.in ) T.
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
       4 Safety the nut (36) with a new cotter pin (34):
       5 Install the link assembly (31).
     (e) For the track 2 position, install the link assemblies (31) and (40) as follows:
       1 Align the link assemblies (31) and (40) with the movable fairing.
       2 Install the bolt (41), the washers (33) and (35) and the nut (36).
       3 Torque the nut (36) to between 0.37 and 0.28 m.daN (32.74 and 24.78 lbf.in )
T.
       4 Safety the nut (36) with a new
AIPC 57-55-85-02-220 COTTER PIN (34).
       5 Install the link assemblies (31) and (40).
   (2) For the track 2, the track 3 and the track 4 positions, align the control rod (54) with the flap drive arm (46).
   (3) Temporarily install the bolt (58), the bush (47), the washer (48) and the nut (49).
   (4) Temporarily install the forward and the aft fixed fairings as follows:
     (a) For the track 2 and the track 3 positions:
       1 Install the aft fixed fairing with the bolts (5), the bolts (13), the washers (11) and the nuts (10). Do not fully tighten the nuts (10).
       2 Locate the spigot (6) in the key-hole plate.
       3 Install the forward fixed fairing with the bolts (2).
     (b) For the track 4 position:
       1 Connect the aft fixed fairing spigot (15) in the key-hole plate and install the bolts (5).
       2 Locate the spigot (6) in the key-hole plate.
       3 Connect the forward fixed fairing with the bolts (2).
   (5) Do a check of the fairing rigged position as follows:
     (a) For the track 3 and the track 4 positions, measure the dimension 'a', which must be between 5 mm (0.1969 in.) and 8 mm (0.3150 in.).
     (b) For the track 2 position, measure the dimension 'a', which must be between 4 mm (0.1575 in.) and 8 mm (0.3150 in.).
     (c) Measure the dimension 'b', which must be between 7 mm (0.2756 in.) and 11 mm (0.4331 in.).
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (6) For the track 2 and the track 3 positions, adjust the length of the rod end (12). After adjustment, make sure that you can see the threads of the rod end (12) in its support bracket inspection hole. Safety with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
   (7) Adjust the splined fittings (43) as follows:
     (a) Turn the splined fitting (43) counterclockwise until the adjusters (42) touch the spherical bearings of the pivot.
     (b) Measure the dimension 'e' at each side of the pivot. The dimension must be between zero, +/- 1 mm (0.0394 in.). If necessary, turn the splined fittings (43) clockwise or counterclockwise, as applicable, until the dimension 'e' is correct.
     (c) Measure the dimension 'g', which must be 2 mm (0.0787 in.) minimum.
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (d) Install the bolts (44) finger tight and safety them with the 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy - to the splined fittings (43).
     (e) Apply a layer of Polysulfide Sealant_General Purpose Brushable - (Material No.
06AAA1) on the retainers (59) and the push-fit covers (45).
     (f) Install the retainers (59) and the push-fit covers (45).
   (8) At the track 2 and the track 3 positions, remove the bolts (2), (5) and (13), and remove the forward and aft fixed fairings.
   (9) At the track 4 position, remove the bolts (2) and (5), and remove the forward and aft fixed fairings.
   (10) Install the bonding straps (28), (30) and (38) with:
   (11) Install the top cover (18).
     (a) Temporarily install the top cover (18), with some of the screws (19).
     (b) Measure the dimension 'c', which must be between 9 mm (0.3543 in.) and 13 mm (0.5118 in.).
     (c) For the track 2 position, measure the dimension 'd', which must be between 14 mm (0.5512 in.) and 18 mm (0.7087 in.).
     (d) For the track 3 and the track 4 positions, measure the dimension 'd', which must be between 11 mm (0.4331 in.) and 15 mm (0.5906 in.).
     (e) For the track 2 position, measure the dimension 'f', which must be between 4 mm (0.1575 in.) and 6 mm (0.2362 in.).
     (f) For the track 3 and the track 4 positions, measure the dimension 'f', which must be between 1 mm (0.0394 in.) and 3 mm (0.1181 in.).
     (g) For the track 2, the track 3 and the track 4 positions, if the dimensions 'c', 'd' or 'f' are out of limits, continue as follows:
       1 Remove the screws (19), and the top cover (18).
       2 Hold the movable fairing and remove the nut (49), the washer (48), the bush (47) and the bolt (58).
       3 Release the tab washer (53) from the nut (52).
       4 Remove the nut (52), the rod end (51) and the tab washer (53).
       5 Discard the tab washer (53).
       6 Install the new tab washer (53), the nut (52) and the rod end (51).
       7 Adjust the rod end (51) as necessary and tighten the nut (52).
       8 Align the control rod (54) with the flap drive arm (46) and temporarily install the bolt (58), the bush (47), the washer (48) and the nut (49).
       9 Temporarily install the top cover (18) with some of the screws (19).
       10 Measure the dimensions 'c', 'd' and 'f' again.
       11 When the dimensions 'c', 'd' and 'f' are in limits, remove the screws (19) and the top cover (18).
   (12) Hold the movable fairing and remove the nut (49), the washer (48), the bush (47) and the bolt (58).
   (13) Lower the movable fairing sufficiently, to get access to the flap-track-beam attachment (26).
   (14) If you are to install a replacement fairing:
     (a) Measure the inner dimension of the flap-track-beam attachment (26), (dimension 'X').
     (b) Measure the outer dimension of the side-load stay (24), (dimension 'Y').
     (c) Calculate the difference between the dimensions.
     (d) Use the table that follows for the correct selection of shims.

NOTE: All the dimensions in the table are in millimeters.

   (15) Install the side-load stay (24) as follows:
     (a) Align the side-load stay (24) and the flap-track-beam rear attachment (26).
     (b) Install the bolt (25), the shims (23), the washer (22) and the nut (20).
     (c) Make sure that you install a minimum of one shim (23).
     (d) Measure and record the thickness of the shims (23).
     (e) TORQUE the nut (20) to between 1.8 and 1.7 m.daN (13.27 and 12.54 lbf.ft ) T.
     (f) Examine the related positions of the hole in the bolt (25) and the slot in the nut (20).
     (g) TORQUE the nut (20), until the next slot aligns with the hole, to 2.8 m.daN (20.65 lbf.ft) maximum.
     (h) Safety the nut (20) with a new cotter pin (21):
   (16) For the track 2, the track 3 and the track 4 positions:
     (a) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.
06AEA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Fillet Structure (Material No.06AEB2) to the interfaces of the sliding bush (47) and the bolt (58), but not to the threads.
     (b) Align the control rod (54) with the flap drive arm (46) and install the bolt (58), make sure that the chamfer on the bolt head (58) aligns with the chamfer on the flap drive arm (46), install the bush (47), the washer (48) and the nut (49).
     (c) For the track 3 and the track 4 positions, torque the nut (49) to between 1.1 and 0.9 m.daN (97.35 and 79.65 lbf.in ) T.
     (d) For the track 2 position, torque the nut (49) to between 1.5 and 1.4 m.daN (11.06 and 10.32 lbf.ft )
T.
     (e) Examine the related positions of the hole in the bolt (58) and the slot in the nut (49).
     (f) Torque the nut (49), until the next slot aligns with the hole to 2.0 m.daN (14.75 lbf.ft) maximum.
     (g) Safety the nut (49) with a new cotter pin (50):
     (h) Tighten the nut (52).
     (i) Safety the nut (52) with the new tab washer (53).
     (j) Install the bonding strap (57) with the bolt (55) and the washer (56) (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
   (17) Install the applicable top cover (18) as follows:
     (a) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.06AEA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Fillet Structure (Material No.06AEB2) to the interfaces of the top cover (18) and the screws (19), but not to the threads.
     (b) Install the top cover (18) with the screws (19).
     (c) Apply a bead of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) into the groove between the top cover (18) and the movable fairing.
     (d) Use Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and a SPATULA - PLASTIC, to make the bead smooth and level with the fairings.
   (18) Install the aft fixed fairing at the track 2 and the track 3 positions as follows:
     (a) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.06AEA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Fillet Structure (Material No.06AEB2) to the interfaces of:
  • The aft fixed fairing
  • The mounting brackets on the flap-track-beam
  • The covers (3)
  • The screws (4)
  • The bolts (5) and (13)
  • The washer (11).
NOTE: Make sure that the threads of the bolts (5), (13) and the screws (4) stay clean.
     (b) Install the aft fixed fairing with the bolts (5), (13), the washer (11) and the nut (10):
       1 Safety the nut (10) with a new cotter pin (9):
       2 TORQUE the bolts (5) to between 0.75 and 0.65 m.daN (66.37 and 57.52 lbf.in ) T.
     (c) Install the covers (3) with the screws (4).
     (d) TORQUE the screws (4) to between 0.23 and 0.17 m.daN (20.35 and 15.04 lbf.in )
T.
     (e) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.
06AEA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Fillet Structure (Material No.06AEB2) to the interfaces of:
  • The forward fixed fairing
  • The bolts (2).
NOTE: Make sure that the threads of the bolts (2) stay clean.
   (19) Install the aft fixed fairing at the track 4 position as follows:
     (a) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.06AEA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Fillet Structure (Material No.06AEB2) to the interfaces of:
  • The aft fixed fairing
  • The mounting brackets on the flap-track-beam
  • The covers (3)
  • The screws (4)
  • The bolts (5).
NOTE: Make sure that the threads of the bolts (5) and the screws (4) stay clean.
     (b) Apply a layer of Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) to the interfaces of:
  • The spigot (15)
  • The key-hole plate.
     (c) Engage the spigot (15) in its key-hole plate, then install the aft fixed fairing with the bolts (5).
     (d) TORQUE the bolts (5) to between 0.75 and 0.65 m.daN (66.37 and 57.52 lbf.in ) T.
     (e) Install the covers (3) and the screws (4).
     (f) TORQUE the screws (4) to between 0.23 and 0.17 m.daN (20.35 and 15.04 lbf.in )
T.
     (g) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.
06AEA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Fillet Structure (Material No.06AEB2) to the interfaces of:
  • The forward fixed fairing
  • The bolts (2).
NOTE: Make sure that the threads of the bolts (2) stay clean.
   (20) Install the applicable bonding straps as follows:
     (a) For the track 2 and the track 3 positions:
       1 Hold the forward fixed fairing and install the bonding straps (1) and (14) with:
     (b) For the track 4 position:
       1 Hold the forward fixed fairing and install the bonding straps (1) and (16) with the bolt (17) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
   (21) Install the applicable forward fixed fairing as follows:
     (a) Apply a layer of Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) to the interfaces of:
  • The spigot (6)
  • The key-hole plate.
     (b) Engage the spigot (6) into its key-hole plate and move the forward fixed fairing to the rear, then install the bolts (2).
     (c) TORQUE the bolts (2) to between 0.45 and 0.4 m.daN (39.82 and 35.40 lbf.in ) T.
     (d) Apply a bead of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.
06AAB1) into the groove between the forward and aft fixed fairings.
     (e) Use Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and a SPATULA - PLASTIC, to make the bead smooth and level with the fairings.

B. Installation of the Flap Track Fairings

       2 Install the bolt (41), the washers (33) and (35) and the nut (36).
       3 Torque the nut (36) to between 0.37 and 0.28 m.daN (32.74 and 24.78 lbf.in )

       4 Safety the nut (36) with a new

     (e) Apply a layer of Polysulfide Sealant_General Purpose Brushable - (Material No.
06AAA1) on the retainers (59) and the push-fit covers (45).
     (f) Install the retainers (59) and the push-fit covers (45).
   (8) At the track 2 and the track 3 positions, remove the bolts (2), (5) and (13), and remove the forward and aft fixed fairings.
   (9) At the track 4 position, remove the bolts (2) and (5), and remove the forward and aft fixed fairings.
   (10) Install the bonding straps (28), (30) and (38) with:
   (11) Install the top cover (18).
     (a) Temporarily install the top cover (18), with some of the screws (19).

       7 Adjust the rod end (51) as necessary and tighten the nut (52).
       8 Align the control rod (54) with the flap drive arm (46) and temporarily install the bolt (58), the bush (47), the washer (48) and the nut (49).
       9 Temporarily install the top cover (18) with some of the screws (19).
       10 Measure the dimensions 'c', 'd' and 'f' again.
       11 When the dimensions 'c', 'd' and 'f' are in limits, remove the screws (19) and the top cover (18).
   (12) Hold the movable fairing and remove the nut (49), the washer (48), the bush (47) and the bolt (58).
   (13) Lower the movable fairing sufficiently, to get access to the flap-track-beam attachment (26).
   (14) If you are to install a replacement fairing:
     (a) Measure the inner dimension of the flap-track-beam attachment (26), (dimension 'X').
     (b) Measure the outer dimension of the side-load stay (24), (dimension 'Y').
     (c) Calculate the difference between the dimensions.
     (d) Use the table that follows for the correct selection of shims.

NOTE: All the dimensions in the table are in millimeters.

   (15) Install the side-load stay (24) as follows:
     (a) Align the side-load stay (24) and the flap-track-beam rear attachment (26).
     (b) Install the bolt (25), the shims (23), the washer (22) and the nut (20).
     (c) Make sure that you install a minimum of one shim (23).
     (d) Measure and record the thickness of the shims (23).
     (e) TORQUE the nut (20) to between 1.8 and 1.7 m.daN (13.27 and 12.54 lbf.ft ) T.
     (f) Examine the related positions of the hole in the bolt (25) and the slot in the nut (20).
     (g) TORQUE the nut (20), until the next slot aligns with the hole, to 2.8 m.daN (20.65 lbf.ft) maximum.
     (h) Safety the nut (20) with a new cotter pin (21):
   (16) For the track 2, the track 3 and the track 4 positions:
     (a) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.
06AEA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Fillet Structure (Material No.06AEB2) to the interfaces of the sliding bush (47) and the bolt (58), but not to the threads.
     (b) Align the control rod (54) with the flap drive arm (46) and install the bolt (58), make sure that the chamfer on the bolt head (58) aligns with the chamfer on the flap drive arm (46), install the bush (47), the washer (48) and the nut (49).
     (c) For the track 3 and the track 4 positions, torque the nut (49) to between 1.1 and 0.9 m.daN (97.35 and 79.65 lbf.in ) T.
     (d) For the track 2 position, torque the nut (49) to between 1.5 and 1.4 m.daN (11.06 and 10.32 lbf.ft )
T.
     (e) Examine the related positions of the hole in the bolt (58) and the slot in the nut (49).
     (f) Torque the nut (49), until the next slot aligns with the hole to 2.0 m.daN (14.75 lbf.ft) maximum.
     (g) Safety the nut (49) with a new cotter pin (50):
     (h) Tighten the nut (52).
     (i) Safety the nut (52) with the new tab washer (53).
     (j) Install the bonding strap (57) with the bolt (55) and the washer (56) (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
   (17) Install the applicable top cover (18) as follows:
     (a) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.06AEA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Fillet Structure (Material No.06AEB2) to the interfaces of the top cover (18) and the screws (19), but not to the threads.
     (b) Install the top cover (18) with the screws (19).
     (c) Apply a bead of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) into the groove between the top cover (18) and the movable fairing.
     (d) Use Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and a SPATULA - PLASTIC, to make the bead smooth and level with the fairings.
   (18) Install the aft fixed fairing at the track 2 and the track 3 positions as follows:
     (a) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.06AEA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Fillet Structure (Material No.06AEB2) to the interfaces of:
  • The aft fixed fairing
  • The mounting brackets on the flap-track-beam
  • The covers (3)
  • The screws (4)
  • The bolts (5) and (13)
  • The washer (11).
NOTE: Make sure that the threads of the bolts (5), (13) and the screws (4) stay clean.
     (b) Install the aft fixed fairing with the bolts (5), (13), the washer (11) and the nut (10):
       1 Safety the nut (10) with a new cotter pin (9):
       2 TORQUE the bolts (5) to between 0.75 and 0.65 m.daN (66.37 and 57.52 lbf.in ) T.
     (c) Install the covers (3) with the screws (4).
     (d) TORQUE the screws (4) to between 0.23 and 0.17 m.daN (20.35 and 15.04 lbf.in )
T.
     (e) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.
06AEA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Fillet Structure (Material No.06AEB2) to the interfaces of:
  • The forward fixed fairing
  • The bolts (2).
NOTE: Make sure that the threads of the bolts (2) stay clean.
   (19) Install the aft fixed fairing at the track 4 position as follows:
     (a) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.06AEA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Fillet Structure (Material No.06AEB2) to the interfaces of:
  • The aft fixed fairing
  • The mounting brackets on the flap-track-beam
  • The covers (3)
  • The screws (4)
  • The bolts (5).
NOTE: Make sure that the threads of the bolts (5) and the screws (4) stay clean.
     (b) Apply a layer of Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) to the interfaces of:
  • The spigot (15)
  • The key-hole plate.
     (c) Engage the spigot (15) in its key-hole plate, then install the aft fixed fairing with the bolts (5).
     (d) TORQUE the bolts (5) to between 0.75 and 0.65 m.daN (66.37 and 57.52 lbf.in ) T.
     (e) Install the covers (3) and the screws (4).
     (f) TORQUE the screws (4) to between 0.23 and 0.17 m.daN (20.35 and 15.04 lbf.in )
T.
     (g) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.
06AEA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Fillet Structure (Material No.06AEB2) to the interfaces of:
  • The forward fixed fairing
  • The bolts (2).
NOTE: Make sure that the threads of the bolts (2) stay clean.
   (20) Install the applicable bonding straps as follows:
     (a) For the track 2 and the track 3 positions:
       1 Hold the forward fixed fairing and install the bonding straps (1) and (14) with:
     (b) For the track 4 position:
       1 Hold the forward fixed fairing and install the bonding straps (1) and (16) with the bolt (17) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
   (21) Install the applicable forward fixed fairing as follows:
     (a) Apply a layer of Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) to the interfaces of:
  • The spigot (6)
  • The key-hole plate.
     (b) Engage the spigot (6) into its key-hole plate and move the forward fixed fairing to the rear, then install the bolts (2).
     (c) TORQUE the bolts (2) to between 0.45 and 0.4 m.daN (39.82 and 35.40 lbf.in ) T.
     (d) Apply a bead of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.
06AAB1) into the groove between the forward and aft fixed fairings.
     (e) Use Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and a SPATULA - PLASTIC, to make the bead smooth and level with the fairings.
