A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
   (2) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the flaps are in the fully retracted position (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-009).
   (2) Install the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS on the flap/slat control-lever.
   (3) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE below the applicable fairing at flap track 2, 3 or 4, zone 531 (631), 532 (632), 533 (633).

4. Procedure
Subtask 57-55-11-020-071-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Flap Track Fairing
   (1) Remove the applicable fixed fairing (10) 531EB (631EB) or 532EB (632EB) or 533EB (633EB):
     (a) Remove the applicable covers (2):
       1 For the track 2, remove the screws (1) and the covers (2) 531AR (631AR), 531AL (631AL).
       2 For the track 3, remove the screws (1) and the covers (2) 532AR (632AR), 532AL (632AL).
       3 For the track 4, remove the screws (1) and the covers (2) 533AR (633AR), 533AL (633AL).
     (b) Remove the applicable lower cover (8):
       1 For the track 2, remove the screws (9) and the lower cover (8) 531FB (631FB).
       2 For the track 3, remove the screws (9) and the lower cover (8) 532FB (632FB).
       3 For the track 4, remove the screws (9) and the lower cover (8) 533FB (633FB).
     (c) Hold the fixed fairing (10) and remove the bolts (6), (11) and (17).
     (d) Remove the nut (14), the bolt (16) and disconnect the bonding strap (15) from the bracket (19).
     (e) Remove the nut (3), the bolt (7), the bonding strap (4) and the bonding disc (5).
     (f) Remove the fixed fairing (10).
   (2) Remove the applicable movable fairing 531CB (631CB) or 532CB (632CB) or 533CB (633CB):
     (a) Remove the applicable top cover (12):
       1 For the track 2, remove the screws (13) and the top cover (12) 531AT (631AT).
       2 For the track 3, remove the screws (13) and the top cover (12) 532AT (632AT).
       3 For the track 4, remove the screws (13) and the top cover (12) 533AT (633AT).
     (b) Remove the nut (33), the bolt (35) and disconnect the bonding strap (34) from the rod assembly.
   (3) Disconnect the movable fairing:
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
WARNING: SUPPORT THE UNIT/ASSEMBLY. THE UNIT/ASSEMBLY IS HEAVY. IF YOU DO NOT SUPPORT IT, IT WILL FALL. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS, AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
     (a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (42).
NOTE: The weight of the flap fairings is approximately 18kg (40lb).
     (b) Hold the movable fairing and remove the nut (41), the bush (40) and the bolt (39).
   (4) Lower the movable fairing:
CAUTION: MOVE THE MOVABLE FAIRING SLOWLY. DO NOT LET THE MOVABLE FAIRING TURN TOO FAR VERTICALLY BECAUSE THIS WILL CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (a) Carefully lower the applicable movable fairing until you can get access to the flap track beam attachment.
     (b) Remove and discard the cotter pin (48).
     (c) Hold the movable fairing and remove the nut (49), the washer (50), the shims (51) and the bolt (53).
     (d) To disconnect the bonding straps (31), (30) and (21) at the forward pivot, remove:
  • The nuts (28) and (20)
  • The bolts (29) and (23).
     (e) Remove the push-fit covers (47).
     (f) Remove and discard the lockwire from the bolts (46).
     (g) Support the movable fairing, remove the bolts (46) and the splined fittings (45).
     (h) Remove the movable fairing.
   (5) If necessary, remove the link assembly (22) as follows:
     (a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (26).
     (b) Remove the nut (27) and the washer (25).
     (c) Remove the bolt (32) and the washers (24).
     (d) Remove the link assembly (22).
   (6) Remove the adjuster (44).
