A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001).
   (2) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
   (3) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the flight controls.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (2) Do the EIS start procedure (lower ECAM Display Unit (DU) only) (Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-001).
   (3) On the ECAM control panel, push the FUEL P/BSW to show the FUEL page on the ECAM lower DU.

C. Get Access
   (1) Open access door 192MB.
NOTE: If operating in battery power:
  • Set the MODE SELECT switch to the OFF position and the guard position.
  • Airbus recommends you to not to keep the door open longer than necessary because the battery power decreases.
Subtask 28-25-00-010-066-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
C. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) in position below zone 622.
   (2) Open the access door 622KB.
NOTE: If operating in battery power:
  • put the MODE SELECT switch to the OFF and guarded position
  • do not keep the door open longer than necessary because the battery can discharge.
4. Procedure
WARNING: WHEN YOU OPERATE THE FUEL PUMPS DURING A MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE, A MAINTENANCE PERSON MUST BE IN THE COCKPIT. THIS PERSON MUST STOP THE PUMPS WHEN THE LOW PRESSURE FAULT LIGHT(S) (ON PANEL 40VU) COME ON, TO PREVENT OPERATION OF THE PUMPS(S) WITHOUT FUEL ('DRY RUNNING'). OPERATION OF THE PUMPS WITHOUT FUEL CAN CAUSE A FIRE.
Subtask 28-25-00-869-056-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Preparation for Fuel Transfer
   (1) On the refuel/defuel panel 800VU:
     (a) Hold the TEST switch in the LTS position and make sure that:
  • all the panel lights come on
  • the FUEL QTY and REFUEL displays show figure eights.
     (b) Hold the TEST switch in the HI LVL position and make sure that all the HI LVL lights change state. That is, those that were off come on and those that were on go off.
     (c) Release the TEST switch and make sure that the HI LVL lights, for the tanks which are not full, go off.
     (d) Put the MODE SELECT switch to the DEFUEL XFR position and make sure that the OPEN light comes on.
     (e) To move the fuel from one of the wing tanks:
  • put the REFUEL VALVES switch (of the tank you are to move fuel from) to the NORM and guarded position
  • put the REFUEL VALVES switch (of the tank you are to move fuel into) to the OPEN position.
   (2) On the fuel control panel 40VU:
  • push (in) the X FEED P/BSW
  • make sure that the P/BSW ON and OPEN lights come on.
   (3) On the ECAM lower Display Unit (DU), make sure that the crossfeed valve shows green in-line (open) (Ref. AMM D/O 28-23-00-00).
Subtask 28-25-00-869-056-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Preparation for Fuel Transfer
NOTE: You must prime the ACT transfer pump (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-869-002) before you can move fuel from the ACT into the center tank.
   (1) On the refuel/defuel panel 800VU and 801VU:
     (a) Hold the TEST switch in the LTS position and make sure that:
  • all the panel lights come on
  • the FUEL QTY and REFUEL displays show figure eights.
     (b) Hold the TEST switch in the HI LVL position and make sure that all the HI LVL lights change state. That is, those that were off come on and those that were on go off.
     (c) Release the TEST switch and make sure that the HI LVL lights, for the tanks which are not full, go off.
     (d) Put the MODE SELECT switch to the DEFUEL XFR position and make sure that the OPEN light comes on.
     (e) To move the fuel from one of the wing tanks:
  • put the REFUEL VALVES switch (of the tank you are to move fuel from) to the NORM and guarded position
  • put the REFUEL VALVES switch (of the tank you are to move fuel into) to the OPEN position.
   (2) On the fuel control panel 40VU:
  • push (in) the X FEED P/BSW
  • make sure that the P/BSW ON and OPEN lights come on.
   (3) On the ECAM lower Display Unit (DU), make sure that the crossfeed valve shows green in-line (open) (Ref. AMM D/O 28-23-00-00).

B. Preparation for Fuel Transfer
NOTE: Prime the ACT transfer pump (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-869-002) before you transfer the fuel from the ACT into the center tank.
   (1) On refuel/defuel control panels 800VU and 801VU:
NOTE: The HI LVL lights of the ACTs that are not installed will not operate.
     (a) Hold the TEST switch in the LTS position and make sure that:
  • All the panel lights come on
  • The displays on the FUEL QTY and the REFUEL panels show figures eights.
     (b) Hold the TEST switch in the HI LVL position and make sure that all the HI LVL lights on refuel/defuel control panels 800VU and 801VU change their state. That is, those that were off come on and those that were on go off.
     (c) Release the TEST switch and make sure that the HI LVL lights for the tanks which are not full, go off.
     (d) Put the MODE SELECT switch to the DEFUEL XFR position and make sure that the OPEN light comes on.
     (e) Put the REFUEL VALVE(S) switch (of the tank that you move fuel from) to the NORM and guarded position.
     (f) Put the REFUEL VALVE(S) switch (of the tank that you move fuel into) to the OPEN position.
   (2) On fuel control panel 40VU:
     (a) Push the X FEED P/BSW.
     (b) Make sure that the ON and OPEN legends come on.
   (3) On the ECAM lower DU, make sure that the crossfeed valve shows green in-line (open) (Ref. AMM D/O 28-23-00-00).
Subtask 28-25-00-869-060-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
CAUTION: DO NOT LET THE FUEL PUMPS OPERATE FOR MORE THAN 15 MINUTES WITH THE FAULT LIGHT ON. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE FUEL PUMPS.
C. Fuel Transfer
NOTE: For maintenance procedures, it is not necessary to defuel the two wing tanks. It is possible to have one wing tank empty and the other wing tank full.
   (1) To transfer fuel from the wing tanks, do the steps that follow:
     (a) On fuel control-panel 40VU:
       1 Push the applicable TK PUMPS pushbutton switches.
       2 Make sure that the applicable OFF legends go off.
     (b) On the ECAM lower DU, monitor the fuel quantity indications.
     (c) Make sure that the indications of the related tanks decrease or increase as applicable.
     (d) When the fuel quantity indications are correct, on fuel control-panel 40VU:
       1 Release the applicable TK PUMPS pushbutton switches.
       2 Make sure that the applicable OFF legends come on.
   (2) To transfer all fuel from the wing tanks, on fuel control-panel 40VU:
     (a) Push L TK PUMPS 1 and 2 (R TK PUMPS 1 and 2) pushbutton switches. Make sure that the applicable OFF legends go off.
     (b) Operate the pumps until the FAULT legends of L TK PUMPS 1 and 2 (R TK PUMPS 1 and 2) pushbutton switches come on.
     (c) Release L TK PUMPS 1 and 2 (R TK PUMPS 1 and 2) pushbutton switches:
       1 Make sure that the applicable OFF legends come on and the applicable FAULT legends go off.
WARNING: BEFORE YOU COMPLETE THIS FUEL TRANSFER PROCEDURE, MAKE SURE THAT:
  • ALL THE FUEL PUMPS ARE OFF, OR
  • THE FUEL PUMPS ARE ON WITH MODE SEL PUSHBUTTON SWITCH 48QA IN THE AUTO POSITION.
IF THE FUEL PUMPS ARE ON AND MODE SEL PUSHBUTTON SWITCH 48QA IS NOT IN THE AUTO POSITION, THERE IS A RISK THAT FUEL WILL SPILL.
   (3) To transfer fuel from the center tank, do the steps that follow:
     (a) On fuel control-panel 40VU:
       1 Push the MODE SEL pushbutton switch.
       2 Make sure that the MAN light of the pushbutton switch goes off.
NOTE: You can only transfer fuel from the center tank with the center tank pumps in manual control.
       3 Push CTR TK PUMPS 1 and 2 pushbutton switches. Make sure that the applicable OFF legends go off.
     (b) On the ECAM lower DU, monitor the fuel quantity indications.
     (c) Make sure that the indications of the related tanks decrease or increase as applicable.
     (d) When the fuel quantity indications are correct, on fuel control-panel 40VU:
       1 Release the CTR TK PUMPS pushbutton switches.
       2 Make sure that the applicable OFF legends come on and the applicable FAULT legends go off.
WARNING: BEFORE YOU COMPLETE THIS FUEL TRANSFER PROCEDURE, MAKE SURE THAT:
  • ALL THE FUEL PUMPS ARE OFF, OR
  • THE FUEL PUMPS ARE ON WITH MODE SEL PUSHBUTTON SWITCH 48QA IN THE AUTO POSITION.
IF THE FUEL PUMPS ARE ON AND MODE SEL PUSHBUTTON SWITCH 48QA IS NOT IN THE AUTO POSITION, THERE IS A RISK THAT FUEL WILL SPILL.
   (4) To transfer all fuel from the center tank, on fuel control-panel 40VU:
     (a) Push CTR TK PUMPS 1 and 2 pushbutton switches. Make sure that the applicable OFF legends go off.
     (b) Operate the pumps until the FAULT legends of CTR TK PUMPS 1 and 2 pushbutton switches come on.
     (c) Release the CTR TK PUMPS pushbutton switches. Make sure that the applicable OFF legends come on and the applicable FAULT legends go off.
Subtask 28-25-00-869-060-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
WARNING: MOVE ALL THE FUEL OUT OF THE CENTER TANK BEFORE YOU GET ACCESS TO A WING TANK. FUEL IN THE CENTER TANK WILL MOVE INTO AN EMPTY WING TANK BY GRAVITY.
CAUTION: DO NOT LET THE FUEL PUMPS OPERATE FOR MORE THAN 15 MINUTES WITH THE FAULT LIGHT ON. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE FUEL PUMPS.
C. Fuel Transfer
NOTE: For maintenance procedures, it is not necessary to defuel the two wing tanks. It is possible to have one wing tank empty and the other wing tank full.
   (1) To transfer fuel from the wing tanks, do the steps that follow:
     (a) On fuel control-panel 40VU:
       1 Push L TK PUMPS 1 and 2 (R TK PUMPS 1 and 2) pushbutton switches.
       2 Make sure that the applicable OFF legends go off.
     (b) On the ECAM lower DU, monitor the fuel quantity indications.
NOTE: During this procedure the ECAM can show unwanted indications, which you can ignore.
     (c) Make sure that the fuel quantities of the related tanks decrease or increase as applicable.
     (d) When the fuel quantities are correct, on fuel control-panel 40VU:
       1 Release L TK PUMPS 1 and 2 (R TK PUMPS 1 and 2) pushbutton switches.
       2 Make sure that the applicable OFF legends come on.
   (2) To transfer all fuel from the wing tanks, do the steps that follow:
     (a) On fuel control-panel 40VU:
       1 Push L TK PUMPS 1 and 2 (R TK PUMPS 1 and 2) pushbutton switches.
       2 Make sure that the applicable OFF legends go off.
       3 Operate L TK PUMPS 1 and 2 (R TK PUMPS 1 and 2) until the FAULT legends of the TK PUMPS pushbutton switches come on.
       4 Release L TK PUMPS 1 and 2 (R TK PUMPS 1 and 2) pushbutton switches:
         a Make sure that the applicable OFF legends come on and the applicable FAULT legends go off.
WARNING: BEFORE YOU COMPLETE THIS FUEL TRANSFER PROCEDURE, MAKE SURE THAT:
  • ALL THE FUEL PUMPS ARE OFF, OR
  • THE FUEL PUMPS ARE ON WITH MODE SEL PUSHBUTTON SWITCH 48QA IN THE AUTO POSITION.
IF THE FUEL PUMPS ARE ON AND MODE SEL PUSHBUTTON SWITCH 48QA IS NOT IN THE AUTO POSITION, THERE IS A RISK THAT FUEL WILL SPILL.
   (3) To transfer fuel from the center tank, do the steps that follow:
     (a) On fuel control-panel 40VU:
       1 Push the MODE SEL pushbutton switch.
       2 Make sure that the MAN light of the pushbutton switch is off.
NOTE: You can only transfer the fuel from the center tank with the automatic protection against overfilling. If the centre, the left and the right transfer control-valves are in automatic control.
       3 Push the CTR TK L XFR (CTR TK R XFR) pushbutton switch:
         a Make sure that the applicable OFF legends go off.
       4 Push the related TK PUMPS 1 and 2 pushbutton switches:
         a Make sure that the applicable OFF legends go off.
     (b) On the ECAM lower DU, monitor the fuel quantity indications.
     (c) Make sure that the fuel quantities of the related tanks decrease or increase as applicable.
     (d) When the fuel tank quantities are correct, on fuel control-panel 40VU, do the steps that follow:
       1 Release the CTR TK L XFR (CTR TK R XFR) pushbutton switch and the related TK PUMPS 1 and 2 pushbutton switches.
       2 Make sure that the applicable OFF legends come on.
       3 On the ECAM lower DU, make sure that the fuel quantity indication for the center tank stops to change.
WARNING: BEFORE YOU COMPLETE THIS FUEL TRANSFER PROCEDURE, MAKE SURE THAT:
  • ALL THE FUEL PUMPS ARE OFF, OR
  • THE FUEL PUMPS ARE ON WITH MODE SEL PUSHBUTTON SWITCH 48QA IN THE AUTO POSITION.
IF THE FUEL PUMPS ARE ON AND MODE SEL PUSHBUTTON SWITCH 48QA IS NOT IN THE AUTO POSITION, THERE IS A RISK THAT FUEL WILL SPILL.
   (4) To transfer all fuel from the center tank, do the steps that follow:
     (a) On fuel control-panel 40VU:
       1 Release the MODE SEL pushbutton switch.
       2 Make sure that the MAN light of the pushbutton switch comes on.
NOTE: You can only transfer the fuel from the center tank with the automatic protection against overfilling. If the centre, the left and the right transfer control-valves are in automatic control.
       3 Push the CTR TK L XFR (CTR TK R XFR) pushbutton switch and the related TK PUMPS 1 and 2 pushbutton switches.
       4 Make sure that the related OFF legends go off.
     (b) On the ECAM lower DU, monitor the center-tank fuel quantity.
     (c) When the center-tank fuel quantity shows zero for 2 minutes, on fuel control-panel 40VU, do the steps that follow:
       1 Release the CTR TK L XFR (CTR TK R XFR) pushbutton switch and the related TK PUMPS 1 and 2 pushbutton switches.
       2 Make sure that the applicable OFF legends come on.
       3 Push the MODE SEL pushbutton switch:
         a Make sure that the MAN light of the pushbutton switch is off.

D. Move the Fuel from the Wing Tanks to the ACT1
   (1) On the panel 40VU:
     (a) Set the L TK PUMPS 1 and 2 to ON.
     (b) Set the R TK PUMPS 1 and 2 to ON.
     (c) Set the CTR TK L XFR and R XFR to OFF.
   (2) On the refuel/defuel control panel 801VU:
  • set the REFUEL VALVES switch to the OPEN position
  • set the FQI SELECT CTR/ACT switch to the ACT position.
   (3) Monitor the contents of the ACT on the fuel quantity indicator 6QT.
   (4) When the contents of the ACT are correct (maximum 2277 kg (5020 lb)), on the panel 801VU, set the REFUEL VALVES switch to the SHUT position.

E. Move the Fuel from the Wing Tanks to the ACT(s)
   (1) On the panel 40VU:
     (a) Set the L TK PUMPS 1 and 2 to ON.
     (b) Set the R TK PUMPS 1 and 2 to ON.
     (c) Set the CTR TK L XFR and R XFR to OFF.
   (2) On the refuel/defuel control panel 801VU:
  • set the applicable ACT REFUEL VALVES switch to the OPEN position.
   (3) On the refuel/defuel panel 801VU:
  • set the FQI SELECT CTR/ACT switch in turn to each applicable ACT position.
   (4) Monitor the contents of the ACT(s) on the fuel quantity indicator 6QT.
   (5) When the contents of each ACT are correct (maximum 2277 kg (5020 lb)), on the panel 801VU, set the REFUEL VALVES switch(es) to the SHUT position.
NOTE: If ACT2 is installed, when the ACT1 is full (maximum 2277 kg (5020 lb)), the ACT fuel inlet valve closes and the ACT2 fuel inlet valve opens.
Subtask 28-25-00-869-084-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
F. Move the Fuel from the ACT to the Center Tank
NOTE: Make sure that there is sufficient space in the center tank to contain the fuel in the ACT.
   (1) On the fuel control panel 40VU, push in (FWD) the ACT P/BSW.
   (2) When the fuel configuration is correct or when the ACT fuel quantity has been zero for 2 minutes:
     (a) On the fuel control panel 40VU, release (out) the ACT P/BSW.

G. Move the Fuel from the ACT1 and/or ACT2 to the Center Tank
NOTE: Make sure that there is sufficient space in the center tank to contain the fuel in the ACT(s).
   (1) On the fuel control panel 40VU, push in (FWD) the ACT P/BSW. The FWD legend comes on.
NOTE: The normal transfer sequence is ACT2 first and then ACT1.
   (2) When the fuel configuration is correct or when the ACT fuel quantity has been zero for 2 minutes:
     (a) On the fuel control panel 40VU, release (out) the ACT P/BSW.

H. Move the Fuel from an ACT to the Center Tank
   (1) On the ECAM lower DU:
     (a) Do a check of the center-tank fuel quantity-indication.
     (b) Make sure that there is sufficient space in the center tank to contain the fuel from the applicable ACT.
   (2) If the quantity of fuel to be moved is more than the capacity of the center tank:
     (a) Transfer the fuel from the center tank to the wing tanks.
     (b) Monitor the fuel quantity indications on the ECAM lower DU. Stop the movement of fuel when there is sufficient space in the center tank.
   (3) On ACT fuel control panel 28VU, push the ACT XFR MODE SEL P/BSW (the MAN legend comes on).
   (4) On ACT fuel control panel 28VU, set the rotary selector switch to the applicable ACT.
   (5) Monitor the indications that follow:
     (a) On the ECAM lower DU, make sure that:
  • The ACT transfer symbol comes on
  • The center tank fuel quantity indication increases
  • The related ACT fuel quantity indication decreases.
   (6) When the applicable ACT quantity indication shows zero, on ACT fuel control panel 28VU:
     (a) Set the ACT rotary selector switch to the OFF position.
     (b) Release the ACT XFR MODE SEL P/BSW (the MAN legend goes off).
5. Close-up
Subtask 28-25-00-860-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
CAUTION: BEFORE YOU CLOSE THE CROSSFEED VALVE, MAKE SURE THAT THE FUEL PUMP(S) IS(ARE) OFF. THIS WILL PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE CROSSFEED VALVE.
   (1) On the fuel control panel 40VU, release (out) the X FEED P/BSW. Make sure that the P/BSW OPEN and ON lights go off.
   (2) On the ECAM lower DU, make sure that the crossfeed valve indication shows green cross-line (closed) (Ref. AMM D/O 28-23-00-00).
   (3) On the fuel control panel 40VU, push (in) the MODE SEL P/BSW. Make sure that the P/BSW MAN light goes off.
   (4) On the ECAM control panel, turn the LOWER DISPLAY switch counter-clockwise to the off position. Make sure that the ECAM lower DU goes off.
   (5) On the refuel/defuel panel 800VU:
     (a) Put the REFUEL VALVES switches to the NORM and guarded position.
     (b) Put the MODE SELECT switch to the OFF and guarded position. Make sure that the OPEN light goes off.
Subtask 28-25-00-860-053-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
CAUTION: BEFORE YOU CLOSE THE CROSSFEED VALVE, MAKE SURE THAT THE FUEL PUMP(S) IS(ARE) OFF. THIS WILL PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE CROSSFEED VALVE.
   (1) On fuel control-panel 40VU, release the X FEED pushbutton switch. Make sure that the OPEN and ON legends go off.
   (2) On the ECAM lower DU, make sure that the crossfeed valve indication shows green cross-line (closed) (Ref. AMM D/O 28-23-00-00).
   (3) On fuel control-panel 40VU, push (in) the MODE SEL pushbutton switch. Make sure that the MAN light of the MODE SEL pushbutton switch goes off.
   (4) On the ECAM control panel, turn the LOWER DISPLAY switch counter-clockwise to the off position. Make sure that the ECAM lower DU goes off.
   (5) On refuel/defuel control-panels 800VU and 801VU:
     (a) Set the REFUEL VALVE(S) switches to the NORM and guarded position.
     (b) Set the MODE SELECT pushbutton switches to the OFF and guarded position. Make sure that the OPEN lights go off.
