A. Safety Precautions
(1) Obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001).
(2) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
(3) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the flight controls.
Subtask 28-25-00-860-086-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001).
(2) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
(3) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the flight controls.
B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
(2) Do an EIS start procedure (lower ECAM Display Unit (DU) only) (Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-001).
(3) On the ECAM control panel, push the FUEL P/BSW to show the FUEL page on the ECAM lower DU.
(4) For method 1, the wing tank must contain a minimum of 1750 kg (3858 lb) of fuel.
(6) Refuel or transfer fuel as necessary into the left-hand (right-hand) wing tank or the center tank (Ref. AMM TASK 12-11-28-650-004) or (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-869-001).
Subtask 28-25-00-010-093-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL NOTE: There are two alternative methods to prime the ACT fuel transfer pump.
Method 1 - use the left-hand (right-hand) wing booster pumps.
Method 2 - use the fuel level in the center tank.
(1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuitsMethod 1 - use the left-hand (right-hand) wing booster pumps.
Method 2 - use the fuel level in the center tank.
NOTE: If the booster pumps in the left-hand (right-hand) wing tank are primed, it is not necessary to refuel the tank. There will be sufficient fuel in the pumps/pipes to do this procedure.
(5) For method 2, the center tank must contain a minimum of 2500 kg (5512 lb) of fuel. (6) Refuel or transfer fuel as necessary into the left-hand (right-hand) wing tank or the center tank (Ref. AMM TASK 12-11-28-650-004) or (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-869-001).
C. Get Access
(1) For method 1, do the steps that follow:
(b) Make sure that the 460005835 SLEEVE - GROUND LOCK is installed on the left-hand MLG door-actuator.
(c) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position in zone 147.
(d) Open access door 192MB.
4. Procedure(1) For method 1, do the steps that follow:
NOTE: The steps that follow are not necessary for method 2.
(a) Open the left-hand Main Landing Gear (MLG) door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
NOTE: Do not keep the door open longer than necessary because the battery can discharge.
WARNING:
WHEN YOU OPERATE THE FUEL PUMPS DURING A MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE, A MAINTENANCE PERSON MUST BE IN THE COCKPIT. THIS PERSON MUST STOP THE PUMPS WHEN THE LOW PRESSURE FAULT LIGHT(S) (ON PANEL 40VU) COME ON, TO PREVENT OPERATION OF THE PUMPS(S) WITHOUT FUEL ('DRY RUNNING'). OPERATION OF THE PUMPS WITHOUT FUEL CAN CAUSE A FIRE.
