(4) Remove the nut (49) and the washer (50). Loosen the bolt (53) sufficiently so that you can install the correct quantity of shims (51).
(5) Install the shims (51), then fully install the bolt (53), the washer (50) and the nut (49).
(6) TORQUE the nut (49) to between 1.8 and 1.7 m.daN (13.27 and 12.54 lbf.ft )
. (7) Examine the related positions of the hole in the bolt (53) and the slot in the nut (49).
(8) TORQUE the nut (49) until the next slot aligns with the hole to 2.8 m.daN (20.65 lbf.ft) maximum.
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
(9) Safety the nut (49) with a new cotter pin (48): - For the track 2 fairing, use the AIPC 57-55-05-21-020 COTTER PIN (48) or AIPC 57-55-85-02-200 COTTER PIN (48)
- For the track 3 fairing, use the AIPC 57-55-05-23-020 COTTER PIN (48) or AIPC 57-55-85-04-150 COTTER PIN (48)
- For the track 4 fairing, use the AIPC 57-55-05-25-020 COTTER PIN (48) or AIPC 57-55-85-06-150 COTTER PIN (48).
(11) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.06AEA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Fillet Structure (Material No.06AEB2) on:
- The interfaces of the bush (40)
- The bolt (39).
(13) Align the control rod (43) with the flap drive arm.
(14) Install the bolt (39), the bush (40) and the nut (41).
(15) Safety the nut (41) with a new cotter pin (42):
- For the track 2 fairing, use the AIPC 57-55-05-21-010 COTTER PIN (42) or AIPC 57-55-85-02-190 COTTER PIN (42)
- For the track 3 fairing, use the AIPC 57-55-05-23-010 COTTER PIN (42) or AIPC 57-55-85-04-160 COTTER PIN (42)
- For the track 4 fairing, use the AIPC 57-55-05-25-010 COTTER PIN (42) or AIPC 57-55-85-06-160 COTTER PIN (42).
(17) Temporarily install the top cover (12) with the screws (13).
(18) Measure dimension G. It must be between 1 mm (0.04 in.) and 3 mm (0.12 in.).
(19) If dimension G is in the limits, do the steps that follow:
(a) Remove the top cover (12) with the screws (13).
(b) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.06AEA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Fillet Structure (Material No.06AEB2) on the movable fairing interface with the top cover (12).
(c) Apply a thin layer of Release Agent-- Water Base - (Material No.14DAB1) on the interface of the top cover (12) with the movable fairing.
(d) Apply a thin layer of Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) on the screws (13).
(e) Install the top cover (12) with the screws (13).
(f) Apply a bead of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) in the groove between the top cover (12) and the movable fairing.
(g) Use Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and the SPATULA - PLASTIC to make the bead smooth and flush with the fairing.
(20) If you installed a new movable fairing or dimension(s) G is(are) not correct, do the steps that follow:
(a) Remove the screws (13) and the top cover (12).
(b) Remove the nut (38), the bolt (37) and disconnect the lower bonding strip (36) from the rod P-clip.
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(c) If necessary, remove and discard the lockwire from the locknuts (54) on the rod (43). (d) Loosen the locknuts (54) sufficiently to turn the rod body.
(e) Turn the rod body clockwise or counterclockwise to adjust the rod length.
(f) Temporarily install the top cover (12) with the screws (13).
(g) Measure dimension G again.
(h) Remove the screws (13) and the top cover (12).
(i) Safety the locknuts (54) on the rod assembly to the tab washers (55) with the (j) Install the bonding strip (34) on the P-clip with the bolt (35) and the nut (33) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
(k) Install the bonding strip (36) on the P-clip with the bolt (37) and the nut (38) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
(l) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.06AEA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Fillet Structure (Material No.06AEB2) on the movable fairing interface with the top cover (12).
(m) Apply a thin layer of Release Agent-- Water Base - (Material No.14DAB1) on the interface of the top cover (12) with the movable fairing.
(n) Apply a thin layer of Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) on the screws (13).
(o) Install the top cover (12) with the screws (13).
(p) Apply a bead of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) in the groove between the top cover (12) and the movable fairing.
(q) Use Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and the SPATULA - PLASTIC to make the bead smooth and flush with the fairing.
