WARNING: DO NOT OPEN THE PASSENGER/CREW DOOR IF THE WIND SPEED IS MORE THAN 65 KNOTS.
WARNING: BEFORE YOU START WORK ON THE DOOR, MAKE SURE THAT:
  • THE EMERGENCY CONTROL HANDLE IS IN THE DISARMED POSITION WITH THE SAFETY PIN INSTALLED.
  • THE PERCUSSION LEVER OF THE DOOR-DAMPER AND EMERGENCY-OPERATION CYLINDER IS IN THE DISARMED POSITION WITH THE SAFETY PIN INSTALLED.
IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE INSTRUCTIONS, THE DOOR CAN OPEN WITH FORCE OR THE ESCAPE SLIDE CAN DEPLOY SUDDENLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
WARNING: STOP THE OPENING PROCEDURE IF THE RED WARNING LIGHT FLASHES. IF THE RED WARNING LIGHT FLASHES, REMAINING PRESSURE CAN CAUSE THE DOOR TO OPEN SUDDENLY AND CAN:
  • KILL OR CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY TO PERSONS
  • CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position in front of passenger/crew door 832 or 842.
   (2) Open the applicable passenger/crew door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-010-001).
   (3) Obey the special precautions before you start the work on the door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-860-001).

D. Removal of the Components
   (1) Remove the lining flap (Ref. AMM TASK 52-13-31-000-001).
   (2) Remove the escape-slide pack-assembly:
     (a) For the left door:
If installed, remove the left escape-slide pack-assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-44-000-002).
     (b) For the right door:
If installed, remove the right escape-slide pack-assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-44-000-802).
   (3) Remove the door lining panels (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-46-000-002):
     (a) For the left door: 832FZ, 832CZ, 832DZ, 832AZ, 832BZ, 832EZ and 832GZ
     (b) For the right door: 842FZ, 842CZ, 842DZ, 842AZ, 842BZ, 842EZ and 842GZ.
   (4) Remove the door-frame lining panels:
     (a) For the left door: 261TW, 261UW, 261VW and 261WW (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-45-000-003)
     (b) For the right door: 262TW, 262UW, 262VW and 262WW (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-45-000-004).
   (5) Remove the door insulation blankets (Ref. AMM TASK 25-80-00-000-001).

E. Installation of the Ballast Weight
   (1) Install the 98D52103501000 BALLAST WEIGHT - PASSENGER CREW DOOR on the door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-480-001).
NOTE: If no ballast weight is available, it is permitted to use the escape-slide pack-assembly on the door as an alternative during the adjustment.
   (2) If you use the escape-slide pack-assembly alternative, make sure that it lets you have access to the door for the adjustment procedure.

F. Removal of Components
   (1) Remove the lining flap (Ref. AMM TASK 52-13-31-000-001).
   (2) Remove the escape slide:
     (a) For the left door:
If installed, remove the left escape slide raft pack-assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-44-000-012).
     (b) For the right door:
If installed, remove the right escape slide raft pack-assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-44-000-804).
   (3) Remove the door lining panels (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-46-000-002):
     (a) For the left door: 832FZ 832CZ 832DZ 832AZ 832BZ 832EZ and 832GZ.
     (b) For the right door: 842FZ 842CZ 842DZ 842AZ 842BZ 842EZ and 842GZ.
   (4) Remove the door-frame lining panels:
     (a) For the left door: 261TW 261UW 261VW and 261WW (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-45-000-003).
     (b) For the right door: 262TW 262UW 262VW and 262WW (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-45-000-004).
   (5) Remove the door insulation blankets.
Subtask 52-13-00-420-053-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
G. Installation of the Ballast Weight
   (1) Install the 98D52103501000 BALLAST WEIGHT - PASSENGER CREW DOOR on the door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-480-001).
NOTE: If no ballast weight is available, it is permitted to use the escape-slide pack-assembly on the door as an alternative during the adjustment.
   (2) If you use the escape-slide pack-assembly alternative, make sure that it lets you have access to the door for the adjustment procedure.
4. Procedure
Subtask 52-13-00-820-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Adjustment of the Door during its Opening and Closure
   (1) Make sure that there is no damage and cracks on the door stops (21):
     (a) If you find damage on one or more door stop(s) (21), replace (it)them in six flight cycles or less (Ref. AMM TASK 52-13-31-000-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 52-13-31-400-002).
     (b) If you find damage on more than two door stop(s) (21), replace (it)them (Ref. AMM TASK 52-13-31-000-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 52-13-31-400-002).
     (c) If you find cracks on one or more door stop(s) (21), replace (it)them (Ref. AMM TASK 52-13-31-000-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 52-13-31-400-002).
   (2) Make sure that when you open the door, clearance H1 between the door stops (21) and the door frame stops (22) is 5 mm (0.1969 in.) minimum.
   (3) Slowly close the door and make sure that there is no hard point between the door stops (21) and the door frame stops (22).
   (4) Make sure that clearance H2 is 0.2 mm (0.0079 in.) minimum with overlap H3 between 3 mm (0.1181 in.) and 4 mm (0.1575 in.).
   (5) The guide rollers (31) touch the guide fittings (32) and (36).
   (6) If clearance H2 is not in the tolerance, adjust the upper and lower guide fittings (32) and (36) as follows:
     (a) Open the door.
     (b) Find the position of the serration plates (37) and (38) and the upper and lower guide fittings (32) and (36).
     (c) Loosen the bolts (40).
     (d) Move the guide fittings (32) and (36) to get clearance H2.
     (e) Temporarily tighten the bolts (40).
     (f) Close the door.
   (7) Open the door.
   (8) Make sure that when you open the door (during door lifting travel), clearance F3 is 4 mm (0.1575 in.) minimum between the ends of the telescopic fork(s) (2) and the girt bar fitting (1).
   (9) If clearance F3 is not in the tolerance, adjust the girt bar fittings (92) and (95) as follows:
     (a) Loosen the screws (91) and (96) of the girt bar fittings (92) and (95).
     (b) Remove the sealant from the girt bar fittings (92) and (95) and the heads of the screws (91) and (96). For this, use Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
     (c) Find the position of the serration plates (93) and (94) and the girt bar fittings (92) and (95).
     (d) Move the girt bar fittings (92) and (95) on the X and Y axes to get the correct clearance.
Subtask 52-13-00-820-050-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Adjustment of the Door during its Opening and Closure
   (1) Make sure that there is no damage and cracks on the door stops (21):
     (a) If you find damage on one or more door stop(s) (21), replace (it)them in six flight cycles or less (Ref. AMM TASK 52-13-31-000-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 52-13-31-400-002).

   (2) Make sure that when you open the door, clearance H1 between the door stops (21) and the door frame stops (22) is 5 mm (0.1969 in.) minimum.
   (3) Slowly close the door and make sure that there is no hard point between the door stops (21) and the door frame stops (22).
   (4) Make sure that clearance H2 is 0.2 mm (0.0079 in.) minimum with overlap H3 between 3 mm (0.1181 in.) and 4 mm (0.1575 in.).
   (5) The guide rollers (31) touch the guide fittings (32) and (36).
   (6) If clearance H2 is not in the tolerance, adjust the upper and lower guide fittings (32) and (36) as follows:
     (a) Open the door.
     (b) Find the position of the serration plates (37) and (38) and the upper and lower guide fittings (32) and (36)
     (c) Loosen the bolts (40).
     (d) Move the guide fittings (32) and (36) to get clearance H2.
     (e) Make sure that the eccentric washers (39):
  • Fully seal the holes of the guide fittings (32) and (36)
  • Are not above the rounded areas or the spot-facing edges
  • Are not out of the outer contour of the fitting.
     (f) Temporarily tighten the bolts (40).
     (g) Close the door.
   (7) Open the door.
   (8) Make sure that when you open the door (during the door lifting travel), clearance F3 is 4 mm (0.1575 in.) minimum between the ends of the telescopic fork(s) (2) and the girt bar fitting (1).
   (9) If clearance F3 is not in the tolerance, adjust the girt bar fittings (92) and (95) as follows:
     (a) Loosen the screws (91) and (96) of the girt bar fittings (92) and (95).
     (b) Remove the sealant from the girt bar fittings (92) and (95) and the heads of the screws (91) and (96). For this, use Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
     (c) Find the position of the serration plates (93) and (94) and the girt bar fittings (92) and (95).
     (d) Move the girt bar fittings (92) and (95) on the X and Y axes to get the correct clearance.
Subtask 52-13-00-820-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
WARNING: USE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
B. Adjustment of the Door in the Down Position
   (1) Install the two TEMPLATE 70 MM (2,75 IN) on the X axis, on the door frame:
     (a) Install one template between longerons L5 and L6.
     (b) Install the other template between longerons L2 and L3.
   (2) If the templates do not touch the door frame or the door contour, adjust the door on the X axis as follows:
     (a) Close and lock the door.
     (b) Disconnect the upper and lower connection links (11) from each side of the yoke.
     (c) Remove and discard the cotter pins (13).
     (d) Remove the nuts (14), the washers (15) and the bolts (16) to disconnect the upper and lower connection links (11).
     (e) Adjust the door on the X axis with the thickness of the washers (12).
     (f) Make sure that clearance B is less than or equal to 0.1 mm (0.0039 in.).
NOTE: The thickness of the two washers (12) at the lower and upper connection links (11) is equal to the nominal thickness.
     (g) Make sure that clearance B is in the tolerance.
     (h) Connect the upper and lower connection links (11) to each side of the yoke.
     (i) Install the washers (15) and the bolts (16).
     (j) Install the nuts (14).
     (k) TORQUE the nuts (14) to between 1.35 and 1.2 m.daN (119.47 and 106.19 lbf.in ) T.
     (l) Install the new
AIPC 52-13-04-04-170 COTTER PIN (13) or the new AIPC 52-13-84-02-170 COTTER PIN (13).
   (3) Make sure that clearance E8 is 70 +0.7 mm or -0.7 mm (2.7559 +0.0276 in. or -0.0276 in.).
   (4) Do a check of the peripheral clearances between the door and the door frame:
     (a) At FR66, make sure that peripheral clearance E1 is 4 +1 mm or -1 mm (0.1575 +0.0394 in. or -0.0394 in.).
     (b) At FR68, make sure that peripheral clearance E2 is 4 +1.8 mm or -1.8 mm (0.1575 +0.0709 in. or -0.0709 in.).
NOTE: A clearance of 4 +2.2 mm or -2.2 mm (0.1575 +0.0866 in. or -0.0866 in.) is permitted on the rear part for a maximum length of 400 mm (15.7480 in.).
This maximum total length can be the sum of smaller lengths in a maximum of three locations.
     (c) Make sure that peripheral clearance E3 is 4 +2 mm or -2.5 mm (0.1575 +0.0787 in. or -0.0984 in.).
   (5) Do a check of the flushness between the door and the door frame at door stop levels L1 thru L7:
     (a) Make sure that flushness E5 is 1.5 +1 mm or -1 mm (0.0591 +0.0394 in. or -0.0394 in.).
NOTE: A clearance of 1.5 +1.3 mm or -1.3 mm (0.0591 +0.0512 in. or -0.0512 in.) is permitted on the rear part for a maximum length of 400 mm (15.7480 in.).
This maximum total length can be the sum of smaller lengths in a maximum of three locations.
   (6) Make sure that overlap E6 of the stop axis is:
     (a) For the forward stops at FR66: 13.5 +1 mm or -1 mm (0.5315 +0.0394 in. or -0.0394 in.)
     (b) For the aft stops at FR68: 13.5 +2 mm or -2 mm (0.5315 +0.0787 in. or -0.0787 in.).
   (7) Make sure that clearance E7 is 0 +1 mm or -1 mm (0.0000 +0.0394 in. or -0.0394 in.).
   (8) Make sure that clearance E9 is 4.5 +2 mm or -2 mm (0.1772 +0.0787 in. or -0.0787 in.).
   (9) When you open the door, make sure that clearance E10 between the stop and the door frame is 5 mm (0.1969 in.).
   (10) If clearances E1, E2, E6 and E10 on the X axis are not in the tolerances, change the door position as follows:
     (a) Disconnect the upper and lower connection links (11) from each side of the yoke.
     (b) Remove and discard the cotter pins (13).
     (c) Remove the nuts (14), the washers (15) and the bolts (16) to disconnect the upper and lower connection links (11).
     (d) Adjust the door on the X axis with the thickness of the washers (12).
     (e) Make sure that clearance B is less than or equal to 0.1 mm (0.0039 in.).
NOTE: The thickness of the two washers (12) at the lower and upper connection links (11) is equal to the nominal thickness.
     (f) Make sure that clearance B is in the tolerance.
     (g) Connect the upper and lower connection links (11) to each side of the yoke.
     (h) Install the washers (15) and the bolts (16).
     (i) Install the nuts (14).
     (j) TORQUE the nuts (14) to between 1.35 and 1.2 m.daN (119.47 and 106.19 lbf.in )
T.
     (k) Install the new
AIPC 52-13-04-04-170 COTTER PIN (13) or the new AIPC 52-13-84-02-170 COTTER PIN (13).
   (11) If clearances E5 and E9 on the Y axis are not in the tolerances, change the door position as follows:
     (a) Remove the nuts (52) and the lock plates (53).
     (b) Adjust the stop screws (51) to make sure that:
       1 Clearance J1 between the stop and the door frame is 0 +0 mm or +0.5 mm (0.0000 +0.0000 in. or +0.0197 in.).
       2 Dimension J2 is 6 mm (0.2362 in.) maximum.
       3 Three stop screws (51) touch the door frame with:
  • Stop screws (51) on one side of the door frame, and
  • Stop screw (51) on the opposite of the door frame.
     (c) Make sure that clearances E5 and E9 are correct.
     (d) Install the nuts (52) with the new
AIPC 52-13-11-21-040 LOCK PLATE (53) or the new AIPC 52-13-84-17-040 LOCK PLATE (53).
     (e) TORQUE the nuts (52) to between 2.2 and 2 m.daN (16.22 and 14.75 lbf.ft )
T.
     (f) Fold the lugs of the lock plates (53).
     (g) Make sure that the lugs of the lock plate (53) are fully folded flat against the stop fittings.
   (12) If clearances E3 and E7 on the Z axis are not in the tolerances, change the door position as follows:
     (a) Cut and discard the lockwire from the nuts (61) and (63).
     (b) Loosen the nuts (61) and (63).
     (c) Adjust the length of the rod (62) until you get the correct configuration.
     (d) Tighten the nuts (61) and (63).
     (e) Safety the rod (62) with the 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
     (f) Make sure that clearances E3 and E7 are correct.
   (13) Remove the TEMPLATE 70 MM (2,75 IN) from the door frame.

B. Adjustment of the Door in the Down Position
   (1) Install the two TEMPLATE 70 MM (2,75 IN) on the X axis, on the door frame:
     (a) Install one template between longerons L5 and L6.
     (b) Install the other template between longerons L2 and L3.
   (2) If the templates do not touch the door frame or the door contour, adjust the door on the X axis as follows:
     (a) Close and lock the door.
     (b) Disconnect the upper and lower connection links (11) from each side of the yoke.
     (c) Remove and discard the cotter pins (13).
     (d) Remove the nuts (14), the washers (15) and the bolts (16) to disconnect the upper and lower connection links (11).
     (e) Adjust the door on the X axis with the thickness of the washers (12).
     (f) Make sure that clearance B is less than or equal to 0.1 mm (0.0039 in.).
NOTE: The thickness of the two washers (12) at the lower and upper connection links (11) is equal to the nominal thickness.
     (g) Make sure that clearance B is in the tolerance.
     (h) Connect the upper and lower connection links (11) to each side of the yoke.
     (i) Install the washers (15) and the bolts (16).
     (j) Install the nuts (14).
     (k) TORQUE the nuts (14) to between 1.5 and 1.25 m.daN (132.74 and 110.62 lbf.in ) T.
     (l) Install the new
AIPC 52-13-04-04-170 COTTER PIN (13) or the new AIPC 52-13-84-02-170 COTTER PIN (13).
   (3) Make sure that clearance E8 is 70 +0.7 mm or -0.7 mm (2.7559 +0.0276 in. or -0.0276 in.).
   (4) Do a check of the peripheral clearances between the door and the door frame:
     (a) At FR66, make sure that peripheral clearance E1 is 4 +1 mm or -1 mm (0.1575 +0.0394 in. or -0.0394 in.).
     (b) At FR68, make sure that peripheral clearance E2 is 4 +1.8 mm or -1.8 mm (0.1575 +0.0709 in. or -0.0709 in.).
NOTE: A clearance of 4 +2.2 mm or -2.2 mm (0.1575 +0.0866 in. or -0.0866 in.) is permitted on the rear part for a maximum length of 400 mm (15.7480 in.).
This maximum total length can be the sum of smaller lengths in a maximum of three locations.
     (c) Make sure that peripheral clearance E3 is 4 +2 mm or -2.5 mm (0.1575 +0.0787 in. or -0.0984 in.).
   (5) Do a check of the flushness between the door and the door frame at door stop levels L1 thru L7:
     (a) Make sure that flushness E5 is 1.5 +1 mm or -1 mm (0.0591 +0.0394 in. or -0.0394 in.).
NOTE: A clearance of 1.5 +1.3 mm or -1.3 mm (0.0591 +0.0512 in. or -0.0512 in.) is permitted on the rear part for a maximum length of 400 mm (15.7480 in.).
This maximum total length can be the sum of smaller lengths in a maximum of three locations.
   (6) Make sure that overlap E6 of the stop axis is:
     (a) For the forward stops at FR66: 13.5 +1 mm or -1 mm (0.5315 +0.0394 in. or -0.0394 in.)
     (b) For the aft stops at FR68: 13.5 +2 mm or -2 mm (0.5315 +0.0787 in. or -0.0787 in.).
   (7) Make sure that clearance E7 is 0 +1 mm or -1 mm (0.0000 +0.0394 in. or -0.0394 in.).
   (8) Make sure that clearance E9 is 4.5 +2 mm or -2 mm (0.1772 +0.0787 in. or -0.0787 in.).
   (9) When you open the door, make sure that clearance E10 between the stop and the door frame is 5 mm (0.1969 in.).
   (10) If clearances E1, E2, E6 and E10 on the X axis are not in the tolerances, change the door position as follows:
     (a) Disconnect the upper and lower connection links (11) from each side of the yoke.
     (b) Remove and discard the cotter pins (13).
     (c) Remove the nuts (14), the washer (15) and the bolts (16) to disconnect the upper and lower connection links (11).
     (d) Adjust the door on the X axis with the thickness of the washers (12).
     (e) Make sure that clearance B is less than or equal to 0.1 mm (0.0039 in.).
NOTE: The thickness of the two washers (12) at the lower and upper connection links (11) is equal to the nominal thickness.
     (f) Make sure that clearance B is in the tolerance.
     (g) Connect the upper and lower connection links (11) to each side of the yoke.
     (h) Install the washers (15) and the bolts (16).
     (i) Install the nuts (14).
     (j) TORQUE the nuts (14) to between 1.5 and 1.25 m.daN (132.74 and 110.62 lbf.in )

     (k) Install the new
AIPC 52-13-04-04-170 COTTER PIN (13) or the new AIPC 52-13-84-02-170 COTTER PIN (13).
   (11) If clearances E5 and E9 on the Y axis are not in the tolerances, change the door position as follows:
     (a) Remove the nuts (52) and the lock plates (53).
     (b) Adjust the stop screws (51) to make sure that:
       1 Clearance J1 between the stop and the door frame is 0 +0 mm or +0.1 mm (0.0000 +0.0000 in. or +0.0039 in.).
       2 Dimension J2 is 6 mm (0.2362 in.) maximum.
       3 Three stop screws (51) touch the door frame with:
  • Stop screws (51) on one side of the door frame, and
  • Stop screw (51) on the opposite of the door frame.
     (c) Make sure that clearances E5 and E9 are correct.
     (d) Install the nuts (52) with the new
AIPC 52-13-11-21-040 LOCK PLATE (53) or the new AIPC 52-13-84-17-040 LOCK PLATE (53).
     (e) TORQUE the nuts (52) to between 2.2 and 2 m.daN (16.22 and 14.75 lbf.ft )
T.
     (f) Fold the lugs of the lock plates (53).
     (g) Make sure that the lugs of the lock plate (53) are fully folded flat against the stop fittings.
   (12) If clearances E3 and E7 on the Z axis are not in the tolerances, change the door position as follows:
     (a) Cut and discard the lockwire from the nuts (61) and (63).
     (b) Loosen the nuts (61) and (63).
     (c) Adjust the length of the rod (62) until you get the correct configuration.
     (d) Tighten the nuts (61) and (63).
     (e) Safety the rod (62) with the 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
     (f) Make sure that clearances E3 and E7 are correct.
   (13) Remove the TEMPLATE 70 MM (2,75 IN) from the door frame.
Subtask 52-13-00-820-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
C. Check and Adjustment of the Clearances between the Guide Rollers and the Guide Fittings
   (1) Operate the door for some time.
   (2) When the door is in the up position, make sure that:
     (a) The guide rollers (31) move off the guide fittings (32) and (36) with the clearances that follow:
       1 Clearance C1: between 0.2 mm (0.0079 in.) and 0.8 mm (0.0315 in.)
       2 Clearance C2: between 0.2 mm (0.0079 in.) and 2.2 mm (0.0866 in.).
   (3) If clearances C1 and C2 are not in the tolerances, adjust the guide fittings (32) and (36) as follows:
     (a) Open the door.
     (b) Find the position of the serration plates (37) and (38) on the upper and lower guide fittings (32) and (36).
     (c) Loosen the screws (40) and move the guide fittings (32) and (36) to get correct clearances C1 and C2.
     (d) Temporarily tighten the screws (40).
   (4) When the door is in the down position, make sure that:
     (a) The guide rollers (31) of the guide fittings (36) turn freely or touch the bolts (35).
     (b) Clearance C4 is between 0.2 mm (0.0079 in.) and 1.5 mm (0.0591 in.).
     (c) Clearance C3 is 0.2 mm (0.0079 in.) minimum.
     (d) Clearance C5 is between 3 mm (0.1181 in.) and 6 mm (0.2362 in.).
NOTE: Clearance C5 between 3 mm (0.1181 in.) and 8 mm (0.3150 in.) is permitted.
     (e) If clearances C3 and C4 are not in the tolerances, adjust the upper and lower guide fittings (32) and (36).
   (5) If the bolts (35) and/or the upper guide fitting (32) were(was) replaced, do the adjustment that follows:
     (a) Open the door.
     (b) Remove the nuts (34), the adjustable washers (33) and the bolts (35).
     (c) Install the bolts (35) and the nuts (34).
     (d) Close the door and measure the dimension between the guide rollers (31) and the bolts (35).
     (e) Open the door.
     (f) Remove the nuts (34) and the bolts (35)
     (g) Adjust the thickness of the adjustable washers (33).
     (h) Install the adjustable washers (33), the bolts (35) and the nuts (34) and tighten them.

C. Check and Adjustment of the Clearances between the Guide Rollers and the Guide Fittings

   (4) With the door in the down position, make sure that:
     (a) The guide rollers (31) of the guide fittings (36) turn freely or touch the bolts (35).
     (b) Clearance C4 is between 0.2 mm (0.0079 in.) and 1.5 mm (0.0591 in.).
     (c) Clearance C3 is 0.2 mm (0.0079 in.) minimum.
     (d) Clearance C5 is between 3 mm (0.1181 in.) and 6 mm (0.2362 in.).
NOTE: Clearance C5 between 3 mm (0.1181 in.) and 8 mm (0.3150 in.) is permitted.
     (e) If clearances C3 and C4 are not in the tolerances, adjust the upper and lower guide fittings (32) and (36).
   (5) If the bolts (35) and/or the upper guide fitting (32) were(was) replaced, do the adjustment that follows:
     (a) Open the door.
     (b) Remove the nuts (34), the adjustable washers (33) and the bolts (35).
     (c) Install the bolts (35) and the nuts (34).
     (d) Close the door and measure the dimension between the guide rollers (31) and the bolts (35).
     (e) Open the door.
     (f) Remove the nuts (34) and the bolts (35
     (g) Adjust the thickness of the adjustable washers (33).
     (h) Install the adjustable washers (33), the bolts (35) and the nuts (34) and tighten them.

     (a) The locking hook (41) touches the roller (40).
   (3) If no component touches the locking hook (41), do the adjustment that follows:
     (a) Put the two shims in position in the upper guide fittings (32).
     (b) Close the door.
     (c) Cut and discard the lockwire from the nuts (42).
     (d) Loosen the nuts (42) and release the lock washers (43).
     (e) Loosen the clamp (45).
     (f) Turn the barrel of the rod (44) until the locking hook (41) and the roller (40) touch.
     (g) Tighten the nuts (42) and the clamp (45).
     (h) Make sure that the lock washers (43) are in the correct position.
     (i) Safety the nuts (42) and the lock washers (43) with the 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
     (j) Open the door and remove the two shims.
   (4) Make sure that the roller (40) turns freely when the door is closed.

  • The locking hook (41) touches the roller (40), and
  • Clearance M1 is 0.5 +0.3 mm or -0.3 mm (0.0197 +0.0118 in. or -0.0118 in.).
   (3) If no component touches the locking hook (41), do the adjustment that follows:
     (a) Put the two shims in position in the upper guide fittings (32).
     (b) Close the door.
     (c) Cut and discard the lockwire from the nuts (42).
     (d) Loosen the nuts (42) and release the lock washers (43).
     (e) Loosen the clamp (45).
     (f) Turn the barrel of the rod (44) until the locking hook (41) and the roller (40) touch.
     (g) Tighten the nuts (42) and the clamp (45).
     (h) Make sure that the lock washers (43) are in the correct position.
     (i) Safety the nuts (42) and the lock washers (43) with the 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
     (j) Open the door and remove the two shims.
   (4) If clearance M1 is not in the tolerance, do the adjustment that follows:
     (a) Put the two shims in position in the upper guide fittings (32).
     (b) Close the door.
     (c) Cut and discard the lockwire from the nuts (42).
     (d) Loosen the nuts (42) and release the lock washers (43).
     (e) Loosen the clamp (45).
     (f) Turn the rod (44) one turn to make it shorter.
     (g) Remove and discard the cotter pin (47) and remove the nut (46).
     (h) Pull the bush (48) 4 mm (0.1575 in.) out to disengage it from the stop flat (50).
     (i) Turn the bush (48) the necessary correction value:
  • 0.9, -0.6, +0.6, +1.5 or +1.2.
     (j) Make sure that the bush (48) stays engaged with its slots in the eccentric yoke (49).
NOTE: The slotted drive between the bush (48) and the eccentric yoke (49) has a foolproofing device (one position only).
     (k) Push the bush (48) until the correction value aligns with the mark on the stop flat (50).
     (l) Install the nut (46).
     (m) TORQUE the nut (46) to between 1.5 and 1.25 m.daN (132.74 and 110.62 lbf.in ) T.
     (n) Turn the barrel of the rod (44) until the locking hook (41) and the roller (40) touch.
     (o) Install the new
AIPC 53-46-04-80-060 COTTER PIN (47) or the new AIPC 53-46-84-80-110 COTTER PIN (47).
     (p) Tighten the nuts (42) and the clamp (45).
     (q) Make sure that the lock washers (43) are in the correct position.
     (r) Safety the nuts (42) and the lock washers (43) with the 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
     (s) Open the door and remove the two shims.
   (5) Make sure that the roller (40) turns freely when the door is closed.

E. Adjustment of the Safety Pin
   (1) Close the door.
   (2) Make sure that clearance G1 between the fitting (71) and the safety pin (72) is 4 +1 mm or -1 mm (0.1575 +0.0394 in. or -0.0394 in.).
   (3) If clearance G1 is not in the tolerance, adjust the safety pin as follows:
     (a) Open the door.
     (b) Remove the stop screw (74) and the adjustment washers (73).
     (c) Install the new adjustable washers (73) to get clearance G1.
     (d) Apply Threadlocking Adhesive-- Medium strength - (Material No.05BAE1) on the thread of the stop screw (74).
     (e) Install the stop screw (74).
     (f) TORQUE the stop screw (74) to between 0.7 and 0.6 m.daN (61.95 and 53.10 lbf.in ) T.

   (1) Adjustment on the X axis:

     (b) For the door that has the door damper and emergency operation cylinder (series P/N FE240):
       1 Put the door in the up-closed position to touch the seal at FR68.
         a Do a check of clearance J1 at FR66.
         b Measure clearance at door stop level L5.
         c Make sure that clearance J1 is equal to the difference between flushness D1 (measured between the door and the frame of the forward door) and flushness D2 (measured between the door and the frame of the aft door).
         d Clearance J1 is maximum 5 mm (0.1969 in.).
     (c) Make sure that the bolts (88) at the guide arms and the door attachment do not have too much tension.
     (d) If they have too much tension, adjust the upper guide arm (87) and the lower guide arm (84) as follows:
       1 Find the position of the serration plates (82) and (85).
       2 Loosen the nuts (81) and (89).
       3 Move the fittings (83) and (86) on the X axis to get the correct position.
       4 Temporarily tighten the nuts (81) and (89).
   (2) Adjustment on the Y axis:
     (a) Open the door until the nominal axis of the guide arms and the support arms align.
     (b) Make sure that the bolts (88) at the guide arms and the door attachment do not have too much tension.
     (c) If they have too much tension, adjust the upper guide arm (87) and the lower guide arm (84) as follows:
       1 Find the position of the serration plates (82) and (85).
       2 Loosen the nuts (81) and (89).
       3 Move the fittings (83) and (86) on the Y axis to get the correct position.
       4 Temporarily tighten the nuts (81) and (89).

     (c) If there is too much tension, adjust the upper guide arm (87) and the lower guide arm (84) as follows:
       1 Find the position of the serration plates (82) and (85).
       2 Loosen the nuts (81) and (89).
       3 Move the fittings (83) and (86) on the Y axis to get the correct position.
       4 Make sure that the eccentric washers (80) and (90):
  • Fully seal the holes of the fittings (83) and (86)
  • Are not above the rounded areas or the spot-facing edges
  • Are not out of the outer contour of the fitting.
       5 Temporarily tighten the nuts (81) and (89).

G. Adjustment of the Girt Bar Fittings
   (1) Open the door in the ARMED position.
   (2) If you removed the girt bar from the escape-slide pack-assembly, install it in the girt bar fittings (92) and (95).
   (3) Close the door to connect the girt bar to the door mechanism.
   (4) Make sure that the door is in the CLOSED position.
   (5) Install the 98DNSA20206060 RIGGING PIN98DNSA20206120 RIGGING PIN on the emergency control handle (rigging point).
NOTE: The 98DNSA20206120 RIGGING PIN is an alternative to the 98DNSA20206060 RIGGING PIN. But, because of its length, you cannot use the 98DNSA20206120 RIGGING PIN at all the locations.
   (6) Make sure that clearances F1 and F2 are correct:
     (a) Clearance F1 must be between 0.2 mm (0.0079 in.) and 1.2 mm (0.0472 in.).
     (b) Clearance F2 must be between 0.5 mm (0.0197 in.) and 1.0 mm (0.0394 in.).
   (7) If clearances F1 and F2 are not in the tolerances, adjust the girt bar fittings (92) and (95) as follows:
     (a) Remove the 98DNSA20206060 RIGGING PIN98DNSA20206120 RIGGING PIN from the emergency control handle (rigging point).
     (b) Put the emergency control handle in the DISARMED position.
     (c) Open the door and find the position of the serration plates (93) and (94) and the girt bar fittings (92) and (95).
     (d) Adjust the position of the girt bar fittings (92) and (95) on the X axis and the Y axis to get correct clearances F1 and F2.
     (e) Install the nuts (91) and (96) on the girt bar fittings (92) and (95).
     (f) Tighten the nuts (91) and (96).
     (g) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) on the nuts (91) and (96) and around the girt bar fittings (92) and (95).
   (8) Use the DYNAMOMETER 20 DAN (45 LBF) - PULL to:
  • Measure the load
  • Operate the emergency control handle for some times, and
  • Make sure that the load necessary to operate the emergency control handle is not more than 10 daN (22.4809 lbf).
   (9) Open the door in the ARMED position.
   (10) If installed after the removal from the escape-slide pack-assembly, remove the girt bar from the girt bar fittings (92) and (95).

WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
I. Adjustment of the Door Buffer
   (1) Fully open the door.
   (2) Make sure that the support arm locks correctly on the fuselage frame when the door is open.
   (3) Make sure that the forward face of the hook fully touches the roller.
   (4) Make sure that the buffer is parallel to the fuselage structure.
   (5) Make sure that clearance G2 between the buffer (201) and the fuselage is between 0.5 mm (0.0197 in.) and 1.5 mm (0.0591 in.).
   (6) If clearance G2 is not in the tolerance, adjust the buffer as follows:
     (a) Put the door in the center position.
     (b) Remove the cotter pin (208) and discard it.
     (c) Remove the nut (207) and the cap (206).
     (d) Remove the bushing (205), the washer (204) and the adjusting washer (203).
     (e) Remove the bolt (209) and the buffer (201).
     (f) Keep the adjusting washer (202).
     (g) Move the adjusting washers (202) and (203) to get correct clearance G2.
     (h) Install the bolt (209), the buffer (201) and the adjusting washer (202) on the support (210).
     (i) Install the adjusting washer (203), the washer (204) and the bushing (205).
     (j) Install the cup (206) and the nut (207).
     (k) Tighten the nut (207).
     (l) Install the new AIPC 52-13-04-05-040 PIN (208) or the new AIPC 52-13-84-03-010 PIN (208).
     (m) Fully open the door.

K. Check of the Outer Control-Handle Locking
   (1) Open the door from the outside and close it from the inside.
   (2) Make sure that the handle flap (304) goes back to its initial position when you close the door from the outside.
   (3) Apply a manual pressure on the handle flap (304) until it touches the stop (303).
   (4) Release the handle flap and make sure that the handle flap (304) goes back to its initial position.
   (5) Do this procedure five times.
   (6) If necessary, adjust the handle flap (304) as follows:
     (a) Loosen the nut (301).
     (b) Remove the stop (303) and the adjustable shim (302).
     (c) Adjust the adjustable shim (302) to get the correct position of the handle flap (304) when the handle is in the closed position.
     (d) Install the stop (303) with the adjustable shim (302) and the nut (301).
     (e) TORQUE the nut (301) to between 0.748 and 0.612 m.daN (66.19 and 54.16 lbf.in ) T.
     (f) Do step (3) again.

K. Check of the Outer Control-Handle Locking
   (1) Open the door from the outside and close it from the inside.
   (2) Make sure that the handle flap (304) goes back to its initial position when you close the door from the outside.
   (3) Apply a manual pressure on the handle flap (304) until it touches the stop (303).
   (4) Release the handle flap and make sure that the handle flap (304) goes back to its initial position.
   (5) Do this procedure five times.

K. Check of the Outer Control-Handle Locking
   (1) With the outer control handle (192) in the up position, make sure that:
  • The outer control handle (192) locks in the up position.
  • Before the pin stop (242) touches the stop screw (241), clearance J9 is a minimum of 3 +0 mm or +1 mm (0.12 +0.00 in. or +0.04 in.) at the outer control handle.
   (2) If clearance J9 is not in the tolerance, do this adjustment:
     (a) Adjust the length of the stop screw (241) until:
  • Clearance J9 between the outer control handle (192) and the door outer skin is a minimum of 3 +0 mm or +1 mm (0.12 +0.00 in. or +0.04 in.).
  • The pin stop (242) touches the stop screw (241).
   (3) Close the door.
   (4) Open the door from the outside and close it from the inside.
   (5) Make sure that the handle flap (304) goes back to its initial position when you close the door from the outside.
   (6) Apply a manual pressure on the handle flap (304) until it touches the stop (303).
   (7) Release the handle flap (304) and make sure that it goes back to its initial position.
   (8) Do this procedure five times.
   (9) If necessary, adjust the handle flap (304) as follows:
     (a) Loosen the nut (301).
     (b) Remove the stop (303) and the adjustable shim (302).
     (c) Adjust the adjustable shim (302) to get the correct position of the handle flap (304) when the handle is in the closed position.
     (d) Install the stop (303) with the adjustable shim (302) and the nut (301).
     (e) TORQUE the nut (301) to between 0.748 and 0.612 m.daN (66.19 and 54.16 lbf.in ) T.
     (f) Do step (3) again.

L. Check of the Emergency Control-Handle Disarming
   (1) Close the door.
   (2) Put the emergency control handle in the ARMED position.
   (3) Open the door with the outer control handle.
   (4) Make sure that the emergency control handle moves to the DISARMED position.

M. Check of the Door Locking in the Up Position
   (1) Make sure that during the opening of the door, the inner control handle (405) is in locked position before the rollers release the guide fittings.
   (2) Make sure that, when you close the door with the inner control handle (405), you feel no hard points because of the non-retraction of the hook (404).
   (3) If necessary, do the adjustment that follows:
     (a) Cut and discard the lockwire from the nuts (401) and (403).
     (b) Decrease the length of the rod (402) until there is no hard point because of the non-retraction of the hook (404) (when you close the door in the up position).
     (c) Tighten the nuts (401) and (403).
     (d) Safety the nuts (401) and (403) with the 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
     (e) Put the door in the up position and make sure that you can install the 98DNSA20206060 RIGGING PIN or the 98DNSA20206120 RIGGING PIN correctly.
NOTE: The 98DNSA20206120 RIGGING PIN is an alternative to the 98DNSA20206060 RIGGING PIN. But, because of its length, you cannot use the 98DNSA20206120 RIGGING PIN in all the locations.
   (4) If you feel the hard points again, apply Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) on the mating surfaces of the hook (404) with the inner control handle (405).
