Subtask 24-42-00-010-050-A
A. Get Access
   (1) Open the door 121AL to have access to the external power receptacle and panel 108VU.
Subtask 24-42-00-480-050-A
B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the aircraft is correctly grounded (earthed):
For grounding (earthing), you must obey the local area regulations.
   (2) Make sure that the 98A24403000000 CABLE HOLDING STRAP with the snap hook is in position on the feeder of the ground power unit.
   (3) Attach the feeder to the support with the snap hook.
Subtask 24-42-00-420-050-A
C. Connection of the connector
WARNING: BEFORE YOU CONNECT THE GROUND POWER UNIT TO THE EXTERNAL POWER RECEPTACLE OF THE AIRCRAFT, MAKE SURE THAT THE EXTERNAL ELECTRICAL POWER SUPPLY IS NOT ENERGIZED. IF IT IS ENERGIZED, DANGEROUS ARCING CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE CABLE STRAP SUPPORTS ALL THE WEIGHT OF THE CABLE WHEN THE CONNECTOR IS CONNECTED. THIS PREVENTS DAMAGE TO THE EXTERNAL POWER RECEPTACLE.
CAUTION: BEFORE YOU CONNECT THE GROUND POWER UNIT TO THE AIRCRAFT, MAKE SURE THAT THERE ARE NO FOREIGN OBJECTS OR FLUID IN THE EXTERNAL POWER RECEPTACLE OR THE GPU CONNECTOR. FOREIGN OBJECTS AND FLUID CAN CAUSE AN OVERHEAT AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (1) Do a visual inspection of the external power receptacle and the GPU connector for corrosion or contamination.
     (a) If you find corrosion or contamination:
  • Clean the external power receptacle or the GPU connector ESPM 2055100.
   (2) Do a visual inspection of the external power receptacle for overheat damage or cracks (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-040-001).
     (a) If you find burns and/or pits, scratches and/or nibbles, and/or if the pins are not correctly aligned:
   (3) Connect the connector of the GPU to the external power receptacle of the aircraft.
4. Procedure
Subtask 24-42-00-861-054-A
A. Energize the ground service network
   (1) On the ELEC panel 35VU, make sure that all pushbutton switches are released except BUS TIE and AC ESS FEED pushbutton switches.
   (2) Start the ground power unit (obey the special instructions of the ground power unit).
   (3) When the protection circuit operates correctly:
  • on the panel 108VU, the EXT PWR/NOT IN USE indicator light and EXT PWR/AVAIL caution light come on,
  • in the cockpit, on the ELEC panel 35VU, the AVAIL legend of the EXT PWR pushbutton switch comes on.
   (4) On the front circuit breaker panel 2000VU which is in the middle of the cabin ceiling at the level of the FWD passenger/crew door, put the MAINT BUS switch in the ON position.
NOTE: The ground MECH/CALL horn which is in the nose gear well operates when the BAT 1 and/or BAT 2 pushbutton switch(es) on the ELEC panel 35VU is(are) pushed.
   (5) On the panel 108VU, the EXT PWR/NOT IN USE indicator light goes off. This shows that the power supply from the ground service network is correct.
