A. Safety Precautions
   (1) In the cockpit, on panel 400VU, put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing-gear control lever.
   (2) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Green hydraulic system:
  • On panel 40VU in the cockpit
  • On the ground service panel of the Green hydraulic system, access door (197CB).
   (3) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
   (4) Put the CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) in position to collect the hydraulic fluid.
   (5) Obey the applicable safety precautions before you open the LGCIU circuit breakers (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-001).

   (1) Open the doors of the NLG (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-010-001).
   (2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position in zone 123 (124).

D. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the Green hydraulic system is depressurized and put it in the maintenance configuration.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001)
   (2) Depressurize the reservoir of the Green hydraulic system
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001)
   (3) Lift the aircraft on jacks (Ref. AMM TASK 07-11-00-581-001).
   (4) Depressurize the NLG shock absorber from the charging valve at the top of the NLG shock absorber as follows:
     (a) Remove the blanking cap from the charging valve.
     (b) Slowly open the charging valve by one and a half turns maximum.
   (5) Use the SPATULA - NON METALLIC to remove sealants from the mechanical parts.

D. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the Yellow hydraulic system is depressurized and put it in the maintenance configuration.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001)
   (2) Depressurize the reservoir of the Yellow hydraulic system.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001)
   (3) Lift the aircraft on jacks (Ref. AMM TASK 07-11-00-581-001).
   (4) Depressurize the NLG shock absorber from the charging valve at the top of the NLG shock absorber as follows:
     (a) Remove the blanking cap from the charging valve.
     (b) Slowly open the charging valve by one and a half turns maximum.
   (5) Use the SPATULA - NON METALLIC to remove sealants from the mechanical parts.

A. Preparation of the NLG before Removal
   (1) Remove the NLG aft door-assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-13-010-001).
   (2) Remove the NLG leg door-assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-15-000-001).
   (3) Remove the link and fitting assemblies of the NLG leg door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-15-000-802).
   (4) Remove the swivel selector valve (Ref. AMM TASK 32-51-15-000-001).
   (5) Remove the NLG wheels (Ref. AMM TASK 32-41-12-000-001).
   (6) Remove the axle sleeve (Ref. AMM TASK 32-41-12-000-002).
   (7) Remove nose-wheel steering electrical deactivation-box 5GC (Ref. AMM TASK 32-51-12-000-001).
   (8) Remove taxi light 8LR (Ref. AMM TASK 33-46-12-000-001).
   (9) Remove take-off light 7LR (Ref. AMM TASK 33-46-11-000-001).
   (10) Remove the runway turnoff light (Ref. AMM TASK 33-43-11-000-001).
   (11) Remove the NLG towing attachment (Ref. AMM TASK 32-21-41-000-001).
   (12) Remove nose-wheel steering servo-control 6GC (Ref. AMM TASK 32-51-51-000-001).
Subtask 32-21-11-020-061-D ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Preparation of the NLG before Removal
   (1) Remove the NLG aft door-assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-13-010-001).
   (2) Remove the NLG leg door assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-15-000-001).
   (3) Remove the link and fitting assemblies of the NLG leg door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-15-000-802).
   (4) Remove the swivel selector valve (Ref. AMM TASK 32-51-15-000-001).
   (5) Remove NLG wheels 2659GM, 2660GM (Ref. AMM TASK 32-41-12-000-001).
   (6) Remove nosewheel-steering electrical deactivation-box 5GC (Ref. AMM TASK 32-51-12-000-001).
   (7) Remove nose-wheel steering servo-control 6GC (Ref. AMM TASK 32-51-51-000-001).
   (8) Remove the axle sleeve (Ref. AMM TASK 32-41-12-000-002).
   (9) Remove taxi light 8LR (Ref. AMM TASK 33-46-12-000-001).
   (10) Remove take-off light 7LR (Ref. AMM TASK 33-46-11-000-001).
   (11) Remove the runway turnoff light (Ref. AMM TASK 33-43-11-000-001).
   (12) Remove the towing fitting (Ref. AMM TASK 32-21-41-000-001).
   (13) Remove the non-TPIS kit (Ref. AMM TASK 32-49-51-000-802).
   (14) Remove the servicing plate kit (Ref. AMM TASK 32-51-42-000-802).
   (15) Remove the hydraulic label kit (Ref. AMM TASK 32-51-51-000-802).
Subtask 32-21-11-020-064-A
B. Disconnection of the Electrical and Hydraulic Lines
   (1) Remove the hydraulic lines (6) and (7). Put PLUG - BLANKING on the disconnected line ends.
   (2) Disconnect the electrical connectors (1) and (2). Put CAP - BLANKING on the disconnected electrical connectors.
   (3) Remove the nuts (5), the washers (4) and the clamp (3).
Subtask 32-21-11-020-066-B
C. Disconnection of the Lock Springs
   (1) Install the M21929 TENSIONING FIXTURE on the springs (38) and (39).
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
   (2) Remove the cotter pins (35) and (42) and discard them.
   (3) Remove the nuts (36) and (41).
   (4) Remove the washers (37) and (40).
   (5) Disconnect the lock springs (38) and (39).
Subtask 32-21-11-020-065-B
D. Disconnection of the Downlock Release Actuator and the Lockstay Assembly
   (1) Disconnect the hydraulic lines (25) and (26) and put PLUG - BLANKING on the disconnected line ends.
   (2) Remove and discard the cotter pin (27).
   (3) Remove the nut (28) and washer (29).
   (4) Disconnect the downlock release actuator (24) from the shaft (31).
   (5) Remove and discard the cotter pin (45).
   (6) Remove the nut (46), washer (47), bolt (20) and washer (21).
   (7) Remove the bush (48).
   (8) Remove the ring (22).
   (9) Disconnect the spherical end of the actuating cylinder (23).
NOTE: Attach the actuating cylinder (23) to the structure with a CORD - PATCH.
   (10) Remove the pin (32) with the J47558 EXTRACTOR.
   (11) Remove the washer (44) and spacer (33).
   (12) Disengage the lockstay assy (43).

E. Disconnection of the Drag Strut (66)
   (1) Remove and discard the cotter pin (63). Remove the nut (62), the washer (61) and the bolt (65).
   (2) Remove the ring (64).
CAUTION: PUSH THE NOSE GEAR LEG TO THE FRONT TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ROTATING CONTROL RODS OF THE REAR NOSE LANDING GEAR DOORS.
   (3) Put a V-BLOCK below the nose landing gear shock absorber to keep the nose landing gear leg at an angle.
   (4) Remove the hinge pin (60) with the J47555 EXTRACTOR.
   (5) Disconnect the drag strut (66).

F. Disconnection of the Rotating Rods
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
   (1) Remove and discard the cotter pins (71).
   (2) Remove the nuts (70), the washers (76) and the bolts (74).
   (3) Remove the bushes (75) and (72).
   (4) Disengage the trunnion shafts (73) and remove the rotating rods.
     (a) Push the nose gear leg forward to disengage the trunnion shafts (73).
Subtask 32-21-11-480-051-B
G. Installation of the Tool
   (1) Install the pin (32),the ring (22), the bolt (20), the washers (21) and (47) and the nut (46).
     (a) Do not tighten or safety the nut (46).
   (2) Install the bush (48) into the ring (22).
   (3) Install the hinge pin (60), ring (64), bolt (65), washer (61) and nut (62).
     (a) Do not tighten or safety the nut (62).
   (4) Install the 98D32203500000 TOOL-R I NLG.
   (5) Install a HOIST 500 KG (1100 LB) on the 98D32203500000 TOOL-R I NLG.
   (6) Put the 98D32203504000 TROLLEY-NLG GROUND HANDLING in position below the NLG leg.
   (7) Put the HOIST cable in tension.
Subtask 32-21-11-020-062-A
H. Removal of the NLG Leg Assy
   (1) Remove and discard the cotter pins (85). Remove the nuts (84), the washers (83) and the bolts (96).
   (2) Remove the grease duct (81), the trunnion pin (95) and the bushing (80) with the J47556 EXTRACTOR. Remove the washers (86).
   (3) Disengage the NLG leg (97) from the spherical bearings.
   (4) Attach the NLG leg (97) to the 98D32203504000 TROLLEY-NLG GROUND HANDLING and disconnect the cable of the HOIST.
