NOTE: A cavitation condition of the engine pump is possible: When the engine pump operates with the engine pump fire valve closed (if you set the ENG 1 (2) FIRE P/BSW on the Eng/APU fire panel), or When the engine pump operates with no fluid in the reservoir (ECAM HYD system page). This procedure can also apply if there is a indication of particles (from a defective EDP) released in the system (e.g. indication found during troubleshooting or while examine pump low pressure or overheat).
Subtask 29-00-00-860-091-A A. There is no special job set-up for this task.
4. ProcedureSubtask 29-00-00-281-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Do a check of the engine pumps for a possible cavitation condition.
(2) Do the subsequent procedure, after an engine pump operation for more than 10 minutes:
1 Do the steps (1) (a) thru (c) of this procedure.
(c) If you do not find particles:
1 Do the operational test of the related hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-11-00-710-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 29-13-00-710-002)
2 During the test, slowly move one flight control surface at a time.
3 Make sure that the system pressure is more than 2800 psi (193.1 bar) during the test.
(d) If the system pressure is less than 2800 psi (193.1 bar) during the test:
1 Do the steps (1) (a) thru (c) of this procedure.
Subtask 29-00-00-281-052-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL NOTE: Two procedures are included here to do a check after an engine pump operation for more than 10 minutes in a possible cavitation condition. Each procedure is applicable for a different set of conditions. Only do the procedure that is applicable for the conditions you find.
(1) Do the subsequent procedure if the engine pump has operated for more than 10 minutes: - With a closed engine pump fire-valve, or
- With no fluid in the reservoir (ECAM HYD system page) or RSVR LO LVL warning on the upper ECAM DU and unknown fluid level.
NOTE: There are no time limits if:
(a) Check filter DPI for extension of the hydraulic control unit of the thrust reverser, HP filter, case drain filter and LP filter (steps for the applicable system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-210-002) ). If DPI extended: - The engine pump is set to OFF (ENG 1 (2) PUMP FAULT/OFF P/BSW on panel 40VU), with
- The engine pump fire-valve open and there is fluid in the reservoir.
- Replace the filter element of the related unit (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-01-000-801), (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-01-400-801), (Ref. AMM TASK 29-11-45-610-001), (Ref. AMM TASK 29-11-43-610-802) and/or (Ref. AMM TASK 29-11-44-610-001).
- Do the operational test of the related hydraulic system with Engine run (Ref. AMM TASK 29-11-00-710-001) and/or (Ref. AMM TASK 29-13-00-710-002). During the test, move the flight control surfaces to supply fluid flow for 10 mintes.
- Do a check for DPIs extension, filter elements and filter bowls of the hydraulic control unit filter, HP filter, case drain filter and LP filter of the related system.
If you find a DPI extended or abnormal particles: Replace the filter element of the related unit (Ref. AMM D/O 78-31-51-92), (Ref. AMM TASK 29-11-45-610-001), (Ref. AMM TASK 29-11-43-610-040).
(2) Do the subsequent procedure, after an engine pump operation for more than 10 minutes:
- With an open engine pump fire-valve, and
- With fluid in the reservoir (index above the minimum gageable level on the ECAM HYD system page) although the RSVR LO LVL warning on the upper ECAM DU.
- In the filter bowl and the filter of the hydraulic control unit of the thrust reverser
- In the case-drain filter bowl and the filter of the related engine pump
- In the HP filter bowl and the filter of the related system.
1 Do the steps (1) (a) thru (c) of this procedure.
