D. Installation of the Hydraulic Pump
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL DURING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION OF THE PUMP, SUPPORT THE WEIGHT OF THE PUMP. MAKE SURE THAT THE SPLINED DRIVE SHAFT IS PERPENDICULAR TO THE MOUNTING FLANGE. IF NOT, SIDE LOADS CAN BEND THE DRIVE SHAFT AND:
  • PREVENT CORRECT INSTALLATION OF THE PUMP.
  • CAUSE DAMAGE WHEN THE PUMP OPERATES.
   (1) Put the AIPC 29-11-51-80-020 GASKET (7) on the gearbox mating face (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-13-911-010).
   (2) Align the pump shaft with the gearbox splined drive and the slots in the mounting flange with the mounting studs.
   (3) Push the pump rearward until the mating faces touch. Turn the pump counterclockwise until the ends of the slots come against the mounting studs.
   (4) Attach the pump with the nuts (9).
   (5) Do a running torque check of the nuts (9) with a WRENCH - TORQUE.
CAUTION: DISCARD THE NUT(S) IF YOU CAN TURN THEM BY HAND WITH NO RESISTANCE.
     (a) Install new AIPC 29-11-51-80-010 NUTS (9) on the studs of the mount pad and turn the nuts until resistance is felt.
     (b) Set the WRENCH - TORQUE to 9.5 lbf.in (0.11 m.daN) and turn each nut in the tightening direction. The nut(s) must not turn before the set torque value.
     (c) If the nut(s) turn before you get a torque of 9.5 lbf.in (0.11 m.daN), replace the nut(s) and do Step 4.D.(5) again for each replacement nut.
     (d) If the running torque check is correct, do not remove the nut(s) from the stud(s) and do Step 4.D.(6).
   (6) TORQUE the nuts to between 320 and 260 lbf.in (3.62 and 2.94 m.daN )
T (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
