WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE HYDRAULIC PUMP IS SUFFICIENTLY SUPPORTED DURING REMOVAL OR INSTALLATION. THE HYDRAULIC PUMP WEIGHS APPROXIMATELY 35 LBS (13 KG). IF IT IS NOT SUFFICIENTLY SUPPORTED, INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE COMPONENTS CAN OCCUR.

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the aircraft electrical circuits are energized (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (2) Make sure that the Yellow hydraulic system is depressurized.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002)
   (3) Make sure that the reservoir of the Yellow hydraulic system is depressurized.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001)
   (4) On the ECAM control panel:
  • Make sure that the HYD key is pushed.
  • On the lower ECAM DU, make sure that the HYD page is shown.
   (5) On the overhead panel 20VU:
  • Make sure that the ENG2/FIRE pushbutton is released.
   (6) On the lower ECAM DU, on the HYD page:
  • Make sure that the fire shutoff valve (3046GD) is closed.

B. Safety Precautions
   (1) On AIR COND panel 30VU:
  • Make sure that the APU BLEED pushbutton switch is released (the ON legend is off).
  • Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate this pushbutton switch.
   (2) Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system:
  • On the HYD section of panel 40VU
  • On access door 198CB, on the ground service panel of the Yellow hydraulic system.
   (3) Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position on access door 195BB to tell persons not to pressurize the reservoir of the Yellow hydraulic system.
   (4) Make sure that you did the procedure to prevent engine motoring
(Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-833).

E. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

4. Procedure
Subtask 29-13-51-420-069-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Yellow Engine-Driven Pump
CAUTION: USE A SECOND WRENCH TO HOLD THE MATING PARTS WHEN YOU LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE TUBE OR HOSE NUTS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS CAUTION, YOU CAN TWIST OR CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE TUBES OR HOSES.
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Make sure that the hydraulic line end-fittings are serviceable.
   (4) Make sure that the CONTAINER 1 L (1/4 USGAL) is in position below the hydraulic pump.
   (5) Removal of the protection covers:
CAUTION: REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE OPENINGS AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE.
     (a) Make sure that you remove the COVER - PROTECTION as necessary to prevent damage to the engine.
     (b) Remove the COVER - PROTECTION from the IDG-EDP-MON harness (3030GD-A) connector, hydraulic pressure hose, hydraulic suction hose, hydraulic case drain-hose and hydraulic pump (1).
   (6) Install the hydraulic pump (1):
     (a) Lubricate the new AIPC 29-11-51-20-040 PACKING (17) with the lubrication oil (Material No.PU6-0005) .
     (b) Put the new packing (17) over the spline and install it into the packing groove immediately behind the spline of the hydraulic pump (1).
     (c) Put the new AIPC 29-11-86-20-440 GASKET (11) on the Accessory Gearbox (AGB).
     (d) Align the hydraulic pump (1) shaft with the AGB splined drive and the slots in the mounting flange with the mounting studs.
     (e) Push the hydraulic pump (1) down until the mating surfaces touch. Turn the hydraulic pump (1) counterclockwise until the ends of the slots come against the mounting studs.
     (f) Attach the hydraulic pump (1) to the AGB with the four nuts (12).
   (7) Do a running torque check of the nuts (12):
     (a) Turn each nut (12) in the tightening direction with the applicable WRENCH - TORQUE.
     (b) Measure the maximum torque to turn each nut (12).
NOTE: The maximum torque is found immediately before the nut (12) starts to turn.
     (c) If the torque is less than 9.5 lbf.in (0.11 m.daN):
       1 Replace the nut (12).
       2 Do Step 4.A.(7) again.
   (8) TORQUE the nuts (12) to between 340 and 320 lbf.in (3.84 and 3.62 m.daN )
T.
   (9) Paint a torque stripe on the nuts (12) and the adjacent surface with the PU3-0025sealant, tamper proof.
   (10) Install the hydraulic inline damper (16):
     (a) Apply a thin layer of lubricant (Material No.
PU6-0003) on the new AIPC 29-11-86-20-430 PACKING (2), the new AIPC 29-11-86-20-437 PACKING (15), the two new AIPC 29-11-86-20-435 RETAINERS (14) and on the threads of the hydraulic inline damper (16).
     (b) Install the new packing (2), the new packing (15) and the two new retainers (14) on the hydraulic inline damper (16).
     (c) Install the hydraulic inline damper (16) on the hydraulic pump (1).
     (d) TORQUE the hydraulic inline damper (16) to between 1062 and 973 lbf.in (12.00 and 10.99 m.daN )
T.
     (e) Clean the surface of the hydraulic inline damper (16) and the adjacent surface with a clean cloth (Material No.
PU1-0001) made moist with acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) or PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl. Clean until you remove all the contamination that you can see.
     (f) Clean again the surface of the hydraulic inline damper (16) and the adjacent surface with a clean cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) made moist with acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) or PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl. Remove the acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) or PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl with a cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) or PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl becomes dry.
     (g) Clean the surface of the hydraulic inline damper (16) and the adjacent surface one more time with a clean cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) .
     (h) Mix the base primer (Material No.PU4-0010) with the activator (Material No.PU4-0011) and thinner (Material No.PU4-0012) . Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
     (i) Paint a torque stripe on the hydraulic inline damper (16) and the adjacent surface with the base primer (Material No.PU4-0010) mixture.
   (11) Install the union (4) and the adapter (13):
     (a) Apply a thin layer of lubricant (Material No.PU6-0003) on the new AIPC 29-11-86-20-410 PACKING (5) and on the threads of the union (4) and the adapter (13).
     (b) Install the new packing (5) on the union (4).
     (c) Install the union (4) on the hydraulic pump (1).
     (d) TORQUE the union (4) to between 940 and 860 lbf.in (10.62 and 9.72 m.daN )
T.
     (e) Install the adapter (13) to the union (4).
     (f) Hold the union (4) with the WRENCH - STANDARD.
       1 TORQUE the adapter (13) to between 1825 and 1520 lbf.in (20.62 and 17.18 m.daN )
T.
     (g) Clean the surface of the union (4), adapter (13) and the adjacent surface with a clean cloth (Material No.
PU1-0001) made moist with acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) or PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl. Clean until you remove all the contamination that you can see.
     (h) Clean again the surface of the union (4), adapter (13) and the adjacent surface with a clean cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) made moist with acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) or PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl. Remove the acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) or PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl with a cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) or PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl becomes dry.
     (i) Clean the surface of the union (4), adapter (13) and the adjacent surface one more time with a clean cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) .
     (j) Paint a torque stripe on the union (4), adapter (13) and the adjacent surface with the base primer (Material No.PU4-0010) mixture.
   (12) Install the reducer (7), adapter (8), elbow (9) and elbow (10):
     (a) Apply a thin layer of lubricant (Material No.PU6-0003) on the new AIPC 29-11-86-20-360 PACKING (6) and on the threads of the reducer (7), adapter (8), elbow (9) and elbow (10).
     (b) Install the new packing (6) on the reducer (7).
     (c) Install the reducer (7) on the hydraulic pump (1).
     (d) TORQUE the reducer (7) to between 290 and 270 lbf.in (3.28 and 3.05 m.daN )
T.
     (e) Attach the adapter (8) to the reducer (7).
     (f) Hold the reducer (7) with the applicable WRENCH - STANDARD.
       1 TORQUE the adapter (8) to between 280 and 215 lbf.in (3.16 and 2.43 m.daN )
T.
     (g) Attach the elbow (9) to the adapter (8).
       1 Make sure that the elbow (9) is in the correct position.
       2 Do not torque the elbow (9) at this time.
     (h) Attach the elbow (10) to the elbow (9).
       1 Make sure that the elbow (10) is in the correct position.
       2 Do not torque the elbow (10) at this time.
   (13) Connect the hydraulic pressure hose:
     (a) Apply a thin layer of lubricant (Material No.
PU6-0003) on the threads of the B-nut.
     (b) Connect the hydraulic pressure hose to the hydraulic inline damper (16) on the hydraulic pump (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 29-13-49-400-807).
     (c) TORQUE the B-nut of the hydraulic pressure hose to between 840 and 752 lbf.in (9.49 and 8.50 m.daN ) T.
   (14) Connect the hydraulic suction hose:
     (a) Apply a thin layer of lubricant (Material No.
PU6-0003) on the threads of the B-nut.
     (b) Connect the hydraulic suction hose to the adapter (13) (Ref. AMM TASK 29-13-49-400-806).
     (c) TORQUE the B-nut of the hydraulic suction hose to between 1825 and 1520 lbf.in (20.62 and 17.18 m.daN ) T.
   (15) Connect the hydraulic case drain-hose:
     (a) Apply a thin layer of lubricant (Material No.
PU6-0003) on the threads of the B-nut.
     (b) Adjust the elbows (9) and (10) to align with the hydraulic case drain-hose in the same plane.
     (c) TORQUE the elbow (9) to between 245 and 215 lbf.in (2.77 and 2.43 m.daN ) T.
     (d) TORQUE the elbow (10) to between 245 and 215 lbf.in (2.77 and 2.43 m.daN )
T.
     (e) Connect the hydraulic case drain-hose to the elbow (10) on the hydraulic pump (1) (
Ref. AMM TASK 29-11-49-400-805).
     (f) TORQUE the B-nut of the hydraulic case drain-hose to between 250 and 210 lbf.in (2.83 and 2.37 m.daN ) T.
     (g) Clean the surfaces of the reducer (7), adapter (8), elbow (9), elbow (10) and the adjacent surface with a clean cloth (Material No.
PU1-0001) made moist with acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) or PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl. Clean until you remove all the contamination that you can see.
     (h) Clean again the surfaces of the reducer (7), adapter (8), elbow (9), elbow (10) and the adjacent surface with a clean cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) made moist with acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) or PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl. Remove the acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) or PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl with a cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) or PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl becomes dry.
     (i) Clean the surfaces of the reducer (7), adapter (8), elbow (9), elbow (10) and the adjacent surface one more time with a clean cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) .
     (j) Paint a torque stripe on the reducer (7), adapter (8), elbow (9), elbow (10) and the adjacent surface with the base primer (Material No.PU4-0010) mixture.
   (16) Connection of the electrical connector:
CAUTION: USE TEFLON-JAWED PLIERS TO LOOSEN/TIGHTEN ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS. DO NOT USE METAL-JAWED PLIERS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN OCCUR.
     (a) Connect the IDG-EDP-MON harness (3030GD-A) connector to the hydraulic pump (1) with the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT (Ref. AMM TASK 71-51-40-400-801).

A. Installation of the Yellow Engine-Driven Pump

   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Make sure that the hydraulic line end-fittings are serviceable.
   (4) Make sure that the CONTAINER 1 L (1/4 USGAL) is in position below the hydraulic pump.
   (5) Removal of the protection covers:
CAUTION: REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE OPENINGS AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE.
     (a) Make sure that you remove the COVER - PROTECTION as necessary to prevent damage to the engine.
     (b) Remove the COVER - PROTECTION from the IDG-EDP-MON harness (3030GD-A) connector, hydraulic pressure hose, hydraulic suction hose, hydraulic case drain-hose and hydraulic pump (1).
   (6) Install the hydraulic pump (1):
     (a) Lubricate the new AIPC 29-11-51-20-040 PACKING (17) with the lubrication oil (Material No.PU6-0005) .
     (b) Put the new packing (17) over the spline and install it into the packing groove immediately behind the spline of the hydraulic pump (1).
     (c) Put the new AIPC 29-11-86-20-440 GASKET (11) on the Accessory Gearbox (AGB).
     (d) Align the hydraulic pump (1) shaft with the AGB splined drive and the slots in the mounting flange with the mounting studs.
     (e) Push the hydraulic pump (1) down until the mating surfaces touch. Turn the hydraulic pump (1) counterclockwise until the ends of the slots come against the mounting studs.
     (f) Attach the hydraulic pump (1) to the AGB with the four nuts (12).
   (7) Do a running torque check of the nuts (12):
     (a) Turn each nut (12) in the tightening direction with the applicable WRENCH - TORQUE.
     (b) Measure the maximum torque to turn each nut (12).
NOTE: The maximum torque is found immediately before the nut (12) starts to turn.
     (c) If the torque is less than 9.5 lbf.in (0.107 m.daN):
       1 Replace the nut (12).
       2 Do Step 4.A.(7) again.
   (8) TORQUE the nuts (12) to between 340 and 320 lbf.in (3.84 and 3.62 m.daN )

   (9) Paint a torque stripe on the nuts (12) and the adjacent surface with the PU3-0025sealant, tamper proof.
   (10) Install the hydraulic inline damper (16):
     (a) Apply a thin layer of lubricant (Material No.
PU6-0003) on the new AIPC 29-11-86-20-430 PACKING (2), the new AIPC 29-11-86-20-437 PACKING (15), the two new AIPC 29-11-86-20-435 RETAINERS (14) and on the threads of the hydraulic inline damper (16).
     (b) Install the new packing (2), the new packing (15) and the two new retainers (14) on the hydraulic inline damper (16).
     (c) Install the hydraulic inline damper (16) on the hydraulic pump (1).
     (d) TORQUE the hydraulic inline damper (16) to between 1062 and 973 lbf.in (12.00 and 10.99 m.daN )
T.
     (e) Clean the surface of the hydraulic inline damper (16) and the adjacent surface with a clean cloth (Material No.
PU1-0001) made moist with acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) or PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl. Clean until you remove all the contamination that you can see.
     (f) Clean again the surface of the hydraulic inline damper (16) and the adjacent surface with a clean cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) made moist with acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) or PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl. Remove the acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) or PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl with a cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) or PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl becomes dry.
     (g) Clean the surface of the hydraulic inline damper (16) and the adjacent surface one more time with a clean cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) .
     (h) Mix the base primer (Material No.PU4-0010) with the activator (Material No.PU4-0011) and thinner (Material No.PU4-0012) . Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
     (i) Paint a torque stripe on the hydraulic inline damper (16) and the adjacent surface with the base primer (Material No.PU4-0010) mixture.
   (11) Install the union (4):
     (a) Apply a thin layer of lubricant (Material No.PU6-0003) on the new AIPC 29-11-86-20-410 PACKING (5) and on the threads of the union (4).
     (b) Install the new packing (5) on the union (4).
     (c) Install the union (4) on the hydraulic pump (1).
     (d) TORQUE the union (4) to between 940 and 860 lbf.in (10.62 and 9.72 m.daN )
T.
     (e) Clean the surface of the union (4) and the adjacent surface with a clean cloth (Material No.
PU1-0001) made moist with acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) or PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl. Clean until you remove all the contamination that you can see.
     (f) Clean again the surface of the union (4) and the adjacent surface with a clean cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) made moist with acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) or PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl. Remove the acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) or PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl with a cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) or PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl becomes dry.
     (g) Clean the surface of the union (4) and the adjacent surface one more time with a clean cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) .
     (h) Paint a torque stripe on the union (4) and the adjacent surface with the base primer (Material No.PU4-0010) mixture.
   (12) Install the reducer (7), adapter (8), elbow (9) and elbow (10):
     (a) Apply a thin layer of lubricant (Material No.PU6-0003) on the new AIPC 29-11-86-20-360 PACKING (6) and on the threads of the reducer (7), adapter (8), elbow (9) and elbow (10).
     (b) Install the new packing (6) on the reducer (7).
     (c) Install the reducer (7) on the hydraulic pump (1).
     (d) TORQUE the reducer (7) to between 290 and 270 lbf.in (3.28 and 3.05 m.daN )
T.
     (e) Attach the adapter (8) to the reducer (7).
     (f) Hold the reducer (7) with the applicable WRENCH - STANDARD.
       1 TORQUE the adapter (8) to between 280 and 215 lbf.in (3.16 and 2.43 m.daN )
T.
     (g) Attach the elbow (9) to the adapter (8).
       1 Make sure the elbow (9) is in the correct position.
       2 Do not torque the elbow (9) at this time.
     (h) Attach the elbow (10) to the elbow (9).
       1 Make sure the elbow (10) is in the correct position.
       2 Do not torque the elbow (10) at this time.
   (13) Connect the hydraulic pressure hose:
     (a) Apply a thin layer of lubricant (Material No.
PU6-0003) on the threads of the B-nut.
     (b) Connect the hydraulic pressure hose to the hydraulic inline damper (16) on the hydraulic pump (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 29-13-49-400-807).
     (c) TORQUE the B-nut of the hydraulic pressure hose to between 840 and 752 lbf.in (9.49 and 8.50 m.daN ) T.
   (14) Connect the hydraulic suction hose:
     (a) Apply a thin layer of lubricant (Material No.
PU6-0003) on the threads of the B-nut.
     (b) Connect the hydraulic suction hose to the union (4) on the hydraulic pump (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 29-13-49-400-806).
     (c) TORQUE the B-nut of the hydraulic suction hose to between 1825 and 1520 lbf.in (20.62 and 17.18 m.daN ) T.
   (15) Connect the hydraulic case drain-hose:
     (a) Apply a thin layer of a lubricant (Material No.
PU6-0003) on the threads of the B-nut.
     (b) Adjust the elbows (9) and (10) to align with the hydraulic case drain-hose in the same plane.
     (c) TORQUE the elbow (9) to between 245 and 215 lbf.in (2.77 and 2.43 m.daN ) T.
     (d) TORQUE the elbow (10) to between 245 and 215 lbf.in (2.77 and 2.43 m.daN )
T.
     (e) Connect the hydraulic case drain-hose to the elbow (10) on the hydraulic pump (1) (
Ref. AMM TASK 29-13-49-400-805).
     (f) TORQUE the B-nut of the hydraulic case drain-hose to between 250 and 210 lbf.in (2.83 and 2.37 m.daN ) T.
     (g) Clean the surfaces of the reducer (7), adapter (8), elbow (9), elbow (10) and the adjacent surface with a clean cloth (Material No.
PU1-0001) made moist with acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) or PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl. Clean until you remove all the contamination that you can see.
     (h) Clean again the surfaces of the reducer (7), adapter (8), elbow (9), elbow (10) and the adjacent surface with a clean cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) made moist with acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) or PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl. Remove the acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) or PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl with a cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) or PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl becomes dry.
     (i) Clean the surfaces of the reducer (7), adapter (8), elbow (9), elbow (10) and the adjacent surface one more time with a clean cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) .
     (j) Paint a torque stripe on the reducer (7), adapter (8), elbow (9), elbow (10) and the adjacent surface with the base primer (Material No.PU4-0010) mixture.
   (16) Connection of the electrical connector:
CAUTION: USE TEFLON-JAWED PLIERS TO LOOSEN/TIGHTEN ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS. DO NOT USE METAL-JAWED PLIERS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN OCCUR.
     (a) Connect the IDG-EDP-MON harness (3030GD-A) connector to the hydraulic pump (1) with the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT (Ref. AMM TASK 71-51-40-400-801).
