A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the Yellow hydraulic system is depressurized.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002)
   (2) Depressurize the reservoir of the Yellow hydraulic system.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001)

B. Safety Precautions
   (1) On AIR COND panel 30VU:
  • Make sure that the APU BLEED pushbutton switch is released (the ON legend is off).
  • Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate this pushbutton switch.
   (2) Open access door 198CB.
     (a) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system on the ground service panel.
   (3) On the HYD section of panel 40VU:
  • Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system.
   (4) Open access door 195BB:
     (a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the reservoir of the Yellow hydraulic system.
   (5) Do the procedure to prevent engine motoring
(Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-833).

C. Get Access
   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)

   (2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 1M (3 FT)-ADJUSTABLE in position at the engine.
4. Procedure
Subtask 29-13-43-020-058-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Case-Drain Filter Assembly
CAUTION: HYDRAULIC FLUID CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT. IF HYDRAULIC FLUID FALLS ON A SURFACE, IMMEDIATELY CLEAN THE SURFACE WITH A CLEAN CLOTH.
CAUTION: USE TWO WRENCHES TO REMOVE OR INSTALL THE TUBE COUPLING NUTS:
  • ONE WRENCH TO HOLD THE UNION, AND
  • ONE TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE COUPLING NUT.
THIS PREVENTS DAMAGE TO THE PARTS.
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
   (1) Put a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) below the filter assembly (1).
   (2) Remove the bolt (5) and the washer (4) that attach the clamp and the filter fan-case drain-tube to the filter case-drain bracket.
   (3) Remove the bolt (5) and washer (4) that attach the clamp and the pylon fan-case drain-tube to the case drain bracket above the filter assembly (1).
   (4) Disconnect the filter fan-case drain-tube from the union (3) on the filter assembly (1).
     (a) Use a second wrench to hold the union on the filter assembly when you loosen the coupling nut on the hose/tube.
   (5) Drain the hydraulic fluid from the filter fan-case drain-tube into the container.
   (6) Remove the union (3) and packing (2) from the filter assembly (1).
   (7) Discard the packing (2).
   (8) Disconnect the pylon fan-case drain-tube from the union (3) on the filter assembly (1).
     (a) Use a second wrench to hold the union on the filter assembly when you loosen the coupling nut on the hose/tube.
   (9) Drain the hydraulic fluid from the pylon fan-case drain-tube into the container.
   (10) Remove the union (3) and packing (2) from the filter assembly (1).
   (11) Discard the packing (2).
   (12) Remove the four bolts (7) and four washers (6) that attach the filter assembly (1) to the filter case-drain bracket on the fan case.
   (13) Remove the filter assembly (1) from the filter case drain bracket.
   (14) Installation of the protection covers
CAUTION: INSTALL PROTECTION COVERS ON ALL THE OPENINGS IMMEDIATELY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
     (a) Make sure that you install COVER - PROTECTION as necessary to prevent damage to the engine.
