3. Job Set-up

A. Safety Precautions
WARNING: OBEY THE FUEL SAFETY PROCEDURES.
   (1) You must obey the fuel safety procedures when you do work on the fuel system (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001).
   (2) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
Subtask 28-20-00-860-060-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the thrust reverser system is deactivated (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).
   (2) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) P/BSW is off.
   (3) Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
   (4) Make sure that the aircraft electrical circuits are energized from the external power (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (5) Do the EIS start procedure (ECAM only) (Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-001), then:
  • On the ECAM control panel (CP), push in the FUEL push button switch (P/BSW)
  • Make sure that the engine LP valves are shown closed (amber cross-line) on the ECAM lower display unit (DU).

D. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the applicable thrust reverser cowl-doors are open:
     (a) For the left nacelle:
     (b) For the right nacelle:
   (2) Make sure that an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE is in position:
     (a) For the left pylon at zones 410 and 470.
     (b) For the right pylon at zones 420 and 480.
   (3) Make sure that the applicable access panels are removed:
     (a) For the left pylon:
     (b) For the right pylon:
   (4) Make sure that the bellows and its thermal protection is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 36-11-42-000-802).
4. Procedure
Subtask 28-20-00-420-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Do a visual inspection of the fuel pipes to make sure that there is no blockage.
NOTE: The damage limits for the fuel pipes and the fuel line shrouds are given in the Duct Fuel Pipe Repair Manual (Ref. DFPRM Check) and (Ref. DFPRM Description).
Subtask 28-20-00-420-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Installation of the Pylon Engine Fuel-Feed-Pipes
   (1) Installation of the pipe assembly (4):
     (a) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
     (b) If pipe (9) is already installed, then loosen it before to connect pipe assembly (4).
     (c) Install the pipe assembly (4) between RIB 1 and 4.
     (d) Install the pipe assembly (4) to the forward lateral panel with the washers (13) and the bolts (12).
  • Make sure that you do not torque the bolts (12) at this time.
     (e) Make sure that the pipe assembly (4) is in correct position and aligned correctly.
     (f) Install the pipe assembly (4) with the bolts (29) and the washers (30).
  • Make sure that you do not torque the bolts (29) at this time.
     (g) Install the fan air valve-actuator 9HA1 (9HA2) (Ref. AMM TASK 36-11-54-400-802).
     (h) Connect the fuel-drain flexible hose (5) to the pipe assembly (4) (Ref. AMM TASK 28-20-00-400-801).
   (2) Installation of the pipe (9):
     (a) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
     (b) Place the pipe (9) on the plate assembly.
     (c) Install the washers (8) and the bolts (7) on the plate assembly.
     (d) Attach the pipe assembly (9) and the AIPC 28-21-86-03-400 GASKET (6) to the pipe assembly (4) with the bolts (10), the washers (11) and the nuts (14).
  • Make sure that you do not torque the nuts (14) at this time.
     (e) TORQUE the bolts (12) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in )
T.
     (f) TORQUE the nuts (14) to between 1.06 and 0.82 m.daN (93.81 and 72.57 lbf.in )
T.
   (3) Installation of the pipe assembly (1):
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (a) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
     (b) At the pipe assembly (1), put and hold these parts in position:
     (c) Lubricate the new items that follow with Mineral Oil base Grease-- Vaseline or Petrolatum - (Material No.03FAB1) :
     (d) Install the O-ring (24) on the pipe assembly (1).
     (e) Put the nut (25), then the new
AIPC 28-21-86-03-280 RETAINING RING (26) through the pipe assembly (1) to the O-ring (24).
     (f) Install the O-ring (27) on the pipe assembly (1).
     (g) Install the O-rings (28) on the pipe assembly (4).
     (h) Slowly put the pipe assembly (1) into the pipe assembly (4).
     (i) Put the shims (18) and (20) in position and attach the pipe assembly (1) with:
  • The bolts (2) and (15)
  • The washers (3) and (16)
  • The nuts (17) and (19).
Make sure that you do not torque the nuts (17) and (19) at this time.
     (j) Safety the nut (25) with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
     (k) Safety the nut (21) with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
     (l) TORQUE the bolts (29) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in )
T.
     (m) TORQUE the nuts (17) and (19) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in )
T.
     (n) Connect the fuel-drain flexible hose (5) (
Ref. AMM TASK 28-20-00-400-801).
   (4) Installation of the pipe (46):
     (a) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
     (b) Lubricate the new items that follow with Mineral Oil base Grease-- Vaseline or Petrolatum - (Material No.03FAB1) :
     (c) Install the new AIPC 28-21-86-01-120 RETAINING RINGS (34) and the nuts (33) on the pipe (46) and the pipe assemblies (1) and (31).
NOTE: Slide each nut (33) to check that it is well stopped by its retaining ring (34).
     (d) Install the O-rings (32) and (35) on the pipe (46) and the pipe assemblies (1) and (31).
     (e) Install the connectors (36) on the pipe assembly (46).
     (f) Install the sleeves (40) and (47) on the pipe assemblies (1) and (31).
     (g) Install the clamps (44) on the pipe (46).
     (h) Align the pipe (46) with the pipe assemblies (1) and (31).
     (i) Make sure that clearance 'A1' between the pipe assembly (1) and the pipe (46) is 5 +3 mm or -3 mm (0.1969 +0.1181 in. or -0.1181 in.).
     (j) Make sure that clearance 'A1' between the pipe assembly (31) and the pipe (46) is 5 +3 mm or -3 mm (0.1969 +0.1181 in. or -0.1181 in.).
     (k) Tighten the nuts (33) with your hand.
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (l) Safety the nuts (33) to the connectors (36) with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
     (m) Move the sleeves (40) and (47) down.
     (n) Install the clamps (39) on the sleeves (40) and (47) with the bolts (37), the washers (38) and the nuts (41).
     (o) TORQUE the nuts (41) to between 1.06 and 0.82 m.daN (93.81 and 72.57 lbf.in )
T.
     (p) Do the electrical bonding at the applicable location on the clamps (44) (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
     (q) Attach the bonding leads (42) to the clamps (44) with the bolts (43) and the nuts (45).
     (r) TORQUE the nuts (45) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in ) T.
     (s) Connect the fuel recirculation check-valve to its connection adjacent to RIB7 of the pylon box (
Ref. AMM TASK 28-16-42-400-001).
     (t) Install the bellows and its thermal protection (Ref. AMM TASK 36-11-42-400-802).
Subtask 28-20-00-790-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
C. Leak Test
   (1) Make sure that the drain line connection and the double shroud pipe are correctly installed.
   (2) Make sure that there is a minimum fuel quantity of 1000 kg (2205 lb) in the applicable wing tank. If necessary, refuel or move fuel to the applicable wing tank (Ref. AMM TASK 12-11-28-650-003) or (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-869-001).
   (3) On panel 40VU, put the applicable fuel pump P/BSW to ON.
   (4) On the center pedestal, on control panel 115VU, put the applicable ENG/MASTER switch to ON.
   (5) On the ECAM lower DU, on the FUEL page, make sure that:
  • The applicable LP fuel valve is open.
  • The applicable fuel pump is on.
   (6) Make sure that there are no leaks at the inner junctions of the pylon engine fuel-feed-pipes:
     (a) If you find leaks, remove the applicable pylon engine fuel-feed-pipe(s) and examine the O-rings and the retaining rings to find if they are in the correct position.
     (b) If the O-rings and the retaining rings are damaged, replace them with the new O-rings and retaining rings.
   (7) Release the applicable fuel pump P/BSW to OFF.
   (8) Set the applicable ENG/MASTER control switch to OFF.
   (9) On the ECAM lower DU, on the FUEL page, make sure that:
  • The applicable LP fuel valve is closed.
  • The applicable fuel pump is off.
   (10) Drain the applicable fuel system (Ref. AMM TASK 73-11-06-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 73-11-06-400-801).

D. Visual check
   (1) Do a wet motor check to make sure that there are no fuel leaks (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-720-814).
   (2) Do a visual check of the pylon engine fuel-feed-pipe to make sure that there are no fuel leaks (Ref. AMM TASK 28-21-00-790-002).
5. Close-up

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the applicable thrust reverser cowl-doors:
     (a) For the left nacelle:
