3. Job Set-up
Subtask 05-24-50-010-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position at zone 451 (461).
   (2) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040):
     (a) For the left engine: 437AL and 438AR.
     (b) For the right engine: 447AL and 448AR.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT YOU DO THE DEACTIVATION OF THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO MAINTENANCE WORK ON OR AROUND THE THRUST REVERSER. IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS PROCEDURE, THERE IS A RISK OF UNWANTED OPERATION AND THUS OF INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (3) Make the thrust reverser unserviceable (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-481-041).
Subtask 05-24-50-010-050-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position at zone 451 (461).
   (2) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010):
     (a) For the left engine: 437AL and 438AR.
     (b) For the right engine: 447AL and 448AR.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) IS DEACTIVATED BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND THE THRUST REVERSER. IF THE HCU IS NOT DEACTIVATED, THERE IS A RISK OF UNWANTED THRUST REVERSER OPERATION WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (3) Deactivate the thrust reverser Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-012).
CAUTION: DO NOT EXTEND THE THRUST REVERSER TRANSLATING SLEEVE WITH THE THRUST REVERSER HALVES FULLY OPEN. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE CAN OCCUR TO: - THE SYNCHRONIZING CABLES OF THE TRANSLATING SLEEVE - THE HINGE ACCESS PANELS OF THE THRUST REVERSER HALVES - THE PYLON PROFILES, AND - THE TRANSLATING SLEEVE.
   (4) Remove the applicable hinge access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-01-000-010), (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-02-000-010), (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-03-000-010) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-04-000-010).
Subtask 05-24-50-010-050-E ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position at zones 451 (461).
   (2) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040):
     (a) For the left engine: 437AL and 438AR.
     (b) For the right engine: 447AL and 448AR.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT YOU DO THE DEACTIVATION OF THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO MAINTENANCE WORK ON OR AROUND THE THRUST REVERSER. IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS PROCEDURE, THERE IS A RISK OF UNWANTED OPERATION AND THUS OF INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (3) Make the thrust reverser unserviceable (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-481-041).
Subtask 05-24-50-010-050-F ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position at zone 451 (461).
   (2) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):
     (a) For the left engine: 437AL and 438AR.
     (b) For the right engine: 447AL and 448AR.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT YOU DO THE DEACTIVATION OF THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO MAINTENANCE WORK ON OR AROUND THE THRUST REVERSER. IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS PROCEDURE, THERE IS A RISK OF UNWANTED OPERATION AND THUS OF INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (3) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).
4. Procedure
Subtask 05-24-50-210-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Inspection
WARNING: DO NOT EXTEND THE SLATS AND FLAPS WHEN THE THRUST REVERSER COWLS ARE DEPLOYED IN THE 45 DEG. POSITION.
CAUTION: DO NOT EXTEND THE THRUST REVERSER TRANSLATING SLEEVE WITH THE THRUST REVERSER HALVES OPEN. DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
   (1) Inspection with the thrust reverser cowl-doors in the open position:
     (a) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-010-010):
       1 For the left engine: 451AL and 452AR.
       2 For the right engine: 461AL and 462AR.
     (b) If necessary, use the FLASHLIGHT and the MIRROR - INSPECTION to do the inspection.
     (c) Do a general visual inspection of the thrust reverser and the area below the thrust reverser.
     (d) Make sure that there are no signs of corrosion, cracks or damage.
     (e) Make sure that all the installations (wiring, ducting and piping) are correctly attached.
     (f) Close the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-410-010):
       1 For the left engine: 451AL and 452AR.
       2 For the right engine: 461AL and 462AR.
   (2) Inspection with the thrust-reverser translating sleeves in the extended position:
     (a) Manually extend the thrust-reverser translating sleeves (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-860-010).
     (b) If necessary, use the FLASHLIGHT and the MIRROR - INSPECTION to do the inspection.
     (c) Do a general visual inspection of the thrust reverser and the area below the thrust reverser.
     (d) Make sure that there are no signs of corrosion, cracks or damage.
     (e) Make sure that there are no signs of excessive play, cracks, wear or other obvious damage or loose or missing fasteners or worn bearings on the blocker doors.
     (f) Manually retract the thrust-reverser translating sleeves (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-860-011).
Subtask 05-24-50-210-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Inspection
WARNING: DO NOT EXTEND THE SLATS AND FLAPS WHEN THE THRUST REVERSER COWLS ARE DEPLOYED IN THE 45 DEG. POSITION.
   (1) Inspection with the thrust reverser cowl-doors in the open position:
     (a) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-040):
       1 For the left engine: 451AL and 452AR.
       2 For the right engine: 461AL and 462AR.
     (b) If necessary, use the FLASHLIGHT and the MIRROR - INSPECTION to do the inspection.
     (c) Do a general visual inspection of the thrust reverser and the area below the thrust reverser.
     (d) Make sure that there are no signs of corrosion, cracks or damage.
     (e) Make sure that all the installations (wiring, ducting, piping) are correctly attached.
     (f) Close the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-410-040):
       1 For the left engine: 451AL and 452AR.
       2 For the right engine: 461AL and 462AR.
   (2) Inspection with the thrust-reverser blocker-doors in the deployed position:
     (a) Manually deploy the blocker doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-41-860-040).
     (b) If necessary, use the FLASHLIGHT and the MIRROR - INSPECTION to do the inspection.
     (c) Do a general visual inspection of the thrust reverser and the area below the thrust reverser.
     (d) Make sure that there are no signs of corrosion, cracks or damage.
     (e) Make sure that all the installations (wiring, ducting, piping) are correctly attached.
     (f) Manually stow the blocker doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-41-860-041).
Subtask 05-24-50-210-050-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Inspection
WARNING: DO NOT EXTEND THE SLATS AND FLAPS WHEN THE THRUST REVERSER COWLS ARE DEPLOYED IN THE 45 DEG. POSITION.
   (1) Inspection with the thrust reverser cowl-doors in the open position:
     (a) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-040):
       1 For the left engine: 451AL and 452AR.
       2 For the right engine: 461AL and 462AR.
     (b) If necessary, use the FLASHLIGHT and the MIRROR - INSPECTION to do the inspection.
     (c) Do a general visual inspection of the thrust reverser and the area below the thrust reverser.
     (d) Make sure that there are no signs of corrosion, cracks or damage.
     (e) Make sure that all the installations (wiring, ducting, piping) are correctly attached.
     (f) Close the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-410-040):
       1 For the left engine: 451AL and 452AR.
       2 For the right engine: 461AL and 462AR.
   (2) Inspection with the thrust-reverser blocker-doors in the deployed position:
     (a) Manually deploy the blocker doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-41-860-001).
     (b) If necessary, use the FLASHLIGHT and the MIRROR - INSPECTION to do the inspection.
     (c) Do a general visual inspection of the thrust reverser and the area below the thrust reverser.
     (d) Make sure that there are no signs of corrosion, cracks or damage.
     (e) Make sure that all the installations (wiring, ducting, piping) are correctly attached.
     (f) Manually stow the blocker doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-41-860-002).
Subtask 05-24-50-210-050-E ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Inspection
WARNING: DO NOT EXTEND THE SLATS AND FLAPS WHEN THE THRUST REVERSER COWLS ARE DEPLOYED IN THE 45 DEG. POSITION.
CAUTION: DO NOT EXTEND THE THRUST REVERSER TRANSLATING SLEEVE WITH THE THRUST REVERSER HALVES OPEN. DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
   (1) Inspection with the thrust reverser cowl-doors in the open position:
     (a) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):
       1 For the left engine: 451AL and 452AR.
       2 For the right engine: 461AL and 462AR.
     (b) If necessary, use the FLASHLIGHT and the MIRROR - INSPECTION to do the inspection.
     (c) Do a general visual inspection of the thrust reverser and the area below the thrust reverser.
     (d) Make sure that there are no signs of corrosion, cracks or damage.
     (e) Make sure that all the installations (wiring, ducting and piping) are correctly attached.
     (f) Close the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-410-802):
       1 For the left engine: 451AL and 452AR.
       2 For the right engine: 461AL and 462AR.
   (2) Inspection with the thrust-reverser translating sleeves in the extended position:
     (a) Manually extend the thrust-reverser translating sleeves (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-860-802).
     (b) If necessary, use the FLASHLIGHT and the MIRROR - INSPECTION to do the inspection.
     (c) Do a general visual inspection of the thrust reverser and the area below the thrust reverser.
     (d) Make sure that there are no signs of corrosion, cracks or damage.
     (e) Make sure that all the installations (wiring, ducting and piping) are correctly attached.
     (f) Manually retract the thrust-reverser translating sleeves (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-860-803).
5. Close-up
Subtask 05-24-50-410-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Make the thrust reverser serviceable (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-081-041).
   (3) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-040):
     (a) For the left engine: 437AL and 438AR.
     (b) For the right engine: 447AL and 448AR.
   (4) Remove the access platform(s).
   (5) Remove all the fixtures, tools, test and support equipment used during this procedure.
Subtask 05-24-50-410-050-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Install the applicable hinge access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-01-400-010), (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-02-400-010), (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-03-400-010) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-04-400-010).
   (3) Do the reactivation of the thrust reverser Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-440-012).
   (4) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-010):
     (a) For the left engine: 437AL and 438AR.
     (b) For the right engine: 447AL and 448AR.
   (5) Remove the access platform(s).
   (6) Remove all the fixtures, tools, test and support equipment used during this procedure.
Subtask 05-24-50-410-050-E ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Make the thrust reverser serviceable (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-081-041).
   (3) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-040):
     (a) For the left engine: 437AL and 438AR.
     (b) For the right engine: 447AL and 448AR.
   (4) Remove the access platform(s).
   (5) Remove all the fixtures, tools, test and support equipment used during this procedure.
Subtask 05-24-50-410-050-F ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Do the reactivation of the thrust reverser system after maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-440-805).
   (3) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-802):
     (a) For the left engine: 437AL and 438AR.
     (b) For the right engine: 447AL and 448AR.
   (4) Remove the access platform(s).
   (5) Remove all the fixtures, tools, test and support equipment used during this procedure.
