(2) Deactivate the TRAS locking feedback actuator for the applicable thrust reverser half.
(a) Turn the TRAS locking feedback actuator manual lock drive to the unlocked position.
(b) Install the 636-3000-28GSE TR ACT. PRIM. LCK PIN in the TRAS locking feedback actuator through the manual lock drive to hold the manual lock drive in position.
(3) Deactivate the TRAS locking actuator for the applicable thrust reverser half.
(a) Turn the TRAS locking actuator manual lock drive to the unlocked position.
(b) Install the 636-3000-28GSE TR ACT. PRIM. LCK PIN in the TRAS locking actuator through the manual lock drive to hold the manual lock drive in position.
(4) Manually extend the applicable translating sleeve.
(b) Put the EXTENSION 3/8 IN - SQUARE DRIVE in the square drive tool engagement.
(e) Turn the manual drive unit lever to the locked position if necessary.

B. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser for Maintenance
4. ProcedureWARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT YOU DO THE DEACTIVATION OF THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO MAINTENANCE WORK ON OR AROUND THE THRUST REVERSER.
IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS PROCEDURE, THERE IS A RISK OF UNWANTED OPERATION AND THUS OF INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805). Subtask 78-32-00-860-058-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
CAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
A. Manual Extension of the Thrust-Reverser Translating Sleeves NOTE: This procedure is shown for the left thrust reverser door. The procedure is the same for the right thrust reverser door.
(1) Deactivate the TRAS track lock for the applicable thrust reverser half (Ref. AMM TASK 78-37-00-040-801). (2) Deactivate the TRAS locking feedback actuator for the applicable thrust reverser half.
(a) Turn the TRAS locking feedback actuator manual lock drive to the unlocked position.
(b) Install the 636-3000-28GSE TR ACT. PRIM. LCK PIN in the TRAS locking feedback actuator through the manual lock drive to hold the manual lock drive in position.
(3) Deactivate the TRAS locking actuator for the applicable thrust reverser half.
(a) Turn the TRAS locking actuator manual lock drive to the unlocked position.
(b) Install the 636-3000-28GSE TR ACT. PRIM. LCK PIN in the TRAS locking actuator through the manual lock drive to hold the manual lock drive in position.
(4) Manually extend the applicable translating sleeve.
CAUTION:
DO NOT EXTEND THE THRUST REVERSER TRANSLATING SLEEVE WITH THE THRUST REVERSER HALVES OPEN. DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
(a) Make sure that the manual drive unit lever is in unlocked position. (b) Put the EXTENSION 3/8 IN - SQUARE DRIVE in the square drive tool engagement.
NOTE: A maximum speed of 600 rpm is permitted for the manual drive unit.
(c) Turn the manual drive unit to extend the translating sleeve to the position necessary to do the maintenance. NOTE: Turn the manual drive unit on the left thrust reverser half counter clockwise to extend the translating sleeve. Turn the manual drive unit on the right thrust reverser half clockwise to extend the translating sleeve.
NOTE: The manual drive unit has a torque limiter breakout torque between 70 lbf.in (0.79 m.daN) and 96 lbf.in (1.08 m.daN).
(d) Remove the EXTENSION 3/8 IN - SQUARE DRIVE from the square drive tool engagement. (e) Turn the manual drive unit lever to the locked position if necessary.
(5) Retraction of translating sleeve:
CAUTION:
IF YOU MANUALLY EXTEND THE TRANSLATING SLEEVE WITH THE MANUAL DRIVING UNIT, MAKE SURE THAT YOU MANUALLY RETRACT THE TRANSLATING SLEEVE WITH THE MANUAL DRIVE UNIT. IF YOU MANUALLY EXTEND THE TRANSLATING SLEEVE WITH THE MANUAL DRIVE UNIT AND RETRACT THE TRANSLATING SLEEVE HYDRAULICALLY, DAMAGE TO THE COMPONENTS CAN OCCUR.
(a) To retract the translating sleeves, make sure that you retract the translating sleeves using the manual drive unit (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-860-803).
