WARNING: REMOVE OR INSTALL THE THRUST REVERSER DOOR INDOORS. IF YOU CANNOT DO IT INDOORS, YOU CAN REMOVE OR INSTALL THE THRUST REVERSER DOOR OUTDOORS BUT ONLY IF THE WIND SPEED IS LESS THAN 23 MPH (37 KM/H). IF THE WIND MOVES THE THRUST REVERSER DOOR, INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER DOOR IS SUFFICIENTLY SUPPORTED DURING REMOVAL OR INSTALLATION. THE THRUST REVERSER DOOR WEIGHS APPROXIMATELY 775 LBS (351 KG). IF IT IS NOT SUFFICIENTLY SUPPORTED, INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE COMPONENTS CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION: YOU MUST NOT LET HYDRAULIC FLUID FALL ON THE ENGINE. UNWANTED HYDRAULIC FLUID MUST BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY WITH A CLEAN LINT- FREE CLOTH. THE HYDRAULIC FLUID CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE PROTECTION AND SOME PARTS.
CAUTION: THIS PART IS A REMOVABLE STRUCTURAL COMPONENT (RSC), WHICH CAN BE MOVED BETWEEN AIRCRAFT. THUS IT CAN HAVE DIFFERENT OPERATION CONDITIONS AND A DIFFERENT LIFE RECORD (FLIGHT HOURS/FLIGHT CYCLES/CALENDAR) FROM THE AIRCRAFT IT IS INSTALLED ON OR REMOVED FROM. A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Make sure that you did the procedure to prevent engine motoring and to stop the electrical supply to the Electronic Engine Control (EEC)
(Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-832).
   (2) Retraction of the slats:
CAUTION: DO NOT REMOVE/INSTALL THE THRUST REVERSER HALF IF THE WING LEADING EDGE SLATS ARE EXTENDED. THIS WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE THRUST REVERSER, THE WING LEADING EDGE SLATS AND THE WING.
     (a) Make sure that the slats are retracted (Ref. AMM TASK 27-80-00-866-005).
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position in the cockpit to tell persons not to move the slat control lever.

E. Depressurization of the Hydraulic System

     (a) Make sure that the Green hydraulic system is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001).
     (b) Make sure that the reservoir of the Green hydraulic system is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).

F. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Ground Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

G. Get Access to the Thrust Reverser Cowl-Door
   (1) Make sure that the right fan cowl door is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-20-000-801).

   (2) Make sure that the two hinge access-panels are removed (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-06-000-801).

4. Procedure
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
CAUTION: IF THE DOS ACTUATOR IS ON THE THRUST REVERSER, REMOVE THE ACTUATOR. YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE DOS ACTUATOR OR OTHER COMPONENTS IF THE DOS ACTUATOR IS ON THE THRUST REVERSER WHEN YOU INSTALL THE THRUST REVERSER.

A. Installation of the Right Thrust Reverser Half - Engine 1
   (1) Removal of the protection covers:
CAUTION: REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE OPENINGS AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE.
     (a) Make sure that you remove all the necessary COVER - PROTECTION to prevent damage to the engine.
   (2) If the left thrust reverser door is installed on the pylon:
     (a) Make sure that the R1 and R2 floating hinge assemblies are installed on the left thrust reverser half (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-05-400-801).
   (3) Attach the 636-3000-26GSE TR VAPOR BARRIER SEAL PROTECTOR to the right thrust reverser (4). Refer to the instructions of the manufacturer.
   (4) Make sure that the deploy hose (2), the stow hose (1) and the return hose (3) do not hang from the right thrust reverser (4) during installation.
     (a) Safety them to the right thrust reverser (4) with ties or equivalent to prevent the movement and the damage, if necessary.
WARNING: MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL THE CORRECT RIGHT THRUST REVERSER ON THE ENGINE. THE RIGHT THRUST REVERSER FOR THE NO. 1 ENGINE IS NOT INTERCHANGEABLE WITH THE RIGHT THRUST REVERSER FOR THE NO. 2 ENGINE. IF YOU INSTALL THE INCORRECT THRUST REVERSER ON THE ENGINE, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN HIT THE WING SLATS. INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION: HAVE AT LEAST TWO PEOPLE HOLD THE RIGHT THRUST REVERSER DOOR AS YOU MOVE IT WITH THE SLING SO THAT IT DOES NOT HIT THE ENGINE OR ADJACENT COMPONENTS. IF THE THRUST REVERSER DOOR HITS THE ENGINE, DAMAGE TO THE DOOR AND THE ENGINE CAN OCCUR.
   (5) Install the 636-3000-7GSE THRUST REVERSER HANDLING SLING and put the right thrust reverser (4) in position:
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT YOU INSTALL THE PROTECTION (SHIELD MAT) BEFORE YOU ATTACH THE STRAP ASSEMBLY TO THE HAND CHAIN HOIST ON THE THRUST REVERSER SLING. IF YOU DO NOT, THE HOIST AND CHAIN CAN HIT THE THRUST REVERSER COWL AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO IT. REFER TO THE INSTRUCTIONS OF THE MANUFACTURER OF THE SLING.
     (a) Install the protection shield mat of the 636-3000-7GSE THRUST REVERSER HANDLING SLING on the right thrust reverser (4). Refer to the instructions of the manufacturer.
     (b) Attach the 636-3000-7GSE THRUST REVERSER HANDLING SLING to the right thrust reverser (4). Refer to the instructions of the manufacturer.
     (c) Disconnect the right thrust reverser (4) from the 636-3000-8GSE THRUST REVERSER DOLLY. Refer to the instructions of the manufacturer.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER DOOR DOES NOT HIT THE ENGINE. IF THE DOOR HITS THE ENGINE, THE THRUST REVERSER DOOR AND THE ENGINE CAN BE DAMAGED.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST-REVERSER-DOOR ALIGNMENT FITTING AND V-BLADE CORRECTLY ENGAGE WITH THE V-GROOVES ON THE FAN CASE. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, THE THRUST REVERSER DOORS WILL NOT LATCH CORRECTLY AND DAMAGE CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION: IF THE FLOATING HINGES ARE INSTALLED, MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER DOOR DOES NOT HIT THEM. IF THE THRUST REVERSER DOOR HITS A FLOATING HINGE, DAMAGE CAN OCCUR.
   (6) Put the right thrust reverser (4) in position as follows:
     (a) Lift the right thrust reverser (4) slowly from the 636-3000-8GSE THRUST REVERSER DOLLY.
     (b) Tilt the right thrust reverser (4) to an angle between 10 and 15 degrees from the vertical.
     (c) Move the right thrust reverser (4) near the pylon.
     (d) Make sure that the top of the V-blade on the right thrust reverser (4) correctly engages with the V-groove on the engine fan case.
     (e) Make sure that the alignment fitting correctly engages with the V-groove on the engine fan case.
     (f) Put the R3 hinge and the R4 hinge into their related hinge fittings on the pylon.
   (7) Attach the thrust reverser hinges as follows:
     (a) Apply a layer of the grease (Material No.PU5-0001) to the shanks of the two hinge pins (11) and the two hinge pins (13).
       1 Make sure that there is no lubricant on the threads of the two hinge pins (11) and the two hinge pins (13).
     (b) Install the 636-3000-9GSE TR THREADS PROTECTOR on the two hinge pins (11) and the two hinge pins (13).
       1 Tighten the 636-3000-9GSE TR THREADS PROTECTOR with your hand.
     (c) Install the hinge pin (11) in the R3 hinge position.
     (d) Install the hinge pin (11) in the R4 hinge position.
     (e) Remove the 636-3000-9GSE TR THREADS PROTECTOR from the two hinge pins (11).
     (f) Install the two washers (10) and the two nuts (9) on the two hinge pins (11).
     (g) TORQUE the nuts (9) to between 182 and 172 lbf.in (2.06 and 1.94 m.daN ) T.
     (h) Install the R1 and R2 floating hinge assemblies on the right thrust reverser (4), if the left thrust reverser half is not installed on the pylon (
Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-05-400-801).
     (i) If the left thrust reverser half is installed on the pylon, attach the R1 and R2 floating hinge assemblies to the right thrust reverser (4) as follows:
       1 Align the floating hinge assemblies to the R1 and the R2 hinge positions.
       2 Install the hinge pin (13) in the R1 hinge position.
       3 Install the hinge pin (13) and the techtrom washer (12) in the R2 hinge position.
       4 Remove the 636-3000-9GSE TR THREADS PROTECTOR from the two hinge pins (13).
       5 Install the techtrom washer (14), the washer (10) and the nut (9) on the hinge pin (13) at the R1 hinge position.
       6 TORQUE the nut (9) to between 182 and 172 lbf.in (2.06 and 1.94 m.daN ) T.
       7 Install the techtrom washer (12), the washer (10) and the nut (9) on the hinge pin (13) at the R2 hinge position.
       8 TORQUE the nut (9) to between 182 and 172 lbf.in (2.06 and 1.94 m.daN )
T.
   (8) Close the right thrust reverser (4) with the
636-3000-7GSE THRUST REVERSER HANDLING SLING (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-410-807).
   (9) Remove the 636-3000-7GSE THRUST REVERSER HANDLING SLING from the right thrust reverser (4). Refer to the instructions of the manufacturer.
   (10) Remove the 636-3000-26GSE TR VAPOR BARRIER SEAL PROTECTOR from the right thrust reverser (4). Refer to the instructions of the manufacturer.
   (11) Install the Door Opening System (DOS) actuator (7) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-02-400-801).
   (12) Connection of the hydraulic hoses:
     (a) Remove the ties used to safety the return hose (3), the deploy hose (2) and the stow hose (1).
     (b) Remove the CAP - PROTECTION from the fittings of the return hose (3), the deploy hose (2) and the stow hose (1).
     (c) Connect the return hose (3), the deploy hose (2) and the stow hose (1) to the pylon connectors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-50-400-801).
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR IS CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT IT. DIRTY ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE THRUST REVERSER PROBLEMS.
CAUTION: USE PLIERS THAT HAVE TEFLON JAWS TO TIGHTEN THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS. DO NOT USE PLIERS THAT HAVE METAL JAWS. METAL JAWS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS.
   (13) Connection of the harnesses:
     (a) Remove the CAP - PROTECTION from the connectors on the Thrust Reverser Actuation System (TRAS) track lock harness and the connectors on the pylon TRAS track lock harness.
     (b) Connect the connector (4051VC-A) on the pylon TRAS track lock harness to the connector (4051VC) on the TRAS track lock harness on the TR torque box harness disconnect panel:
       1 Align the keyways on the two connectors.
       2 Tighten the connector with your fingers. Then tighten the connector 1/8 to 1/4 of a turn more with the PLIERS - NOSE, SOFT, LONG.
       3 Make sure that you cannot see the color band on the connector.
     (c) Remove the CAP - PROTECTION from the connectors on the right TRAS monitoring harness and the connectors on the pylon TRAS monitoring harness.
     (d) Connect the pylon TRAS monitoring harness connectors (4054VC-A) and (4055VC-A) to the connectors (4054VC) and (4055VC) on the right TRAS monitoring harness on the TR torque box harness disconnect panel:
       1 Align the keyways on the two connectors.
       2 Tighten the connector with your fingers. Then tighten the connector 1/8 to 1/4 of a turn more with the PLIERS - NOSE, SOFT, LONG.
       3 Make sure that you cannot see the color band on the connector.
     (e) Put the insert (6) on the pylon TRAS monitoring harness and the pylon TRAS track lock harness adjacent to the frame (5).
     (f) Put the insert (6) on the pylon TRAS monitoring harness and the pylon TRAS track lock harness into the frame (5).
     (g) Close the frame (5).
     (h) Tighten the bolt on the frame (5) until you fully compress the spring.
   (14) Connect the bonding strap from the pylon onto the brackets between the R1 and the R2 hinges (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-05-400-801).
   (15) Install the two hinge access-panels (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-06-400-801):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

   (16) Adjust the thrust reverser (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-820-803).
   (17) Remove the 98D57003500000 PROTECTION-WING LEADING EDGE from the slats.

   (2) Install the right fan-cowl door (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-20-400-801):

E. Pressurization of the Aircraft Hydraulic Systems

     (a) Pressurize the reservoir of the Green hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-002).
     (b) Pressurize the Green hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-863-001).
   (2) Make sure that all the circuit breakers shown in the paragraph Procedure of the engine interface unit installation are closed. If they are not, close them in the recommended sequence
