Thrust Reverser Cycling Test (Engine Running)


WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT:
  • THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE THRUST REVERSERS OF THE ENGINE ARE CLEAR OF ALL TOOLS, EQUIPMENT AND PERSONS.
  • THE THRUST REVERSER COWL DOORS ARE CLOSED AND LOCKED.
  • THE THROTTLE CONTROL LEVER OF THE RELATED ENGINE IS IN THE IDLE POSITION.
  • THE TEST IS PERFORMED IN A CLEAN AREA, I.E. POTENTIAL FOD WERE REMOVED.
  • MAKE SURE THAT THE AIRCRAFT IS POINTED INTO THE WIND. IF YOU NOT OBEY THESE INSTRUCTIONS, INJURY TO PERSON CAN OCCUR.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE AREA AROUND THE THRUST REVERSER IS CLEAR OF PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT BEFORE YOU OPERATE IT. THE THRUST REVERSER TRANSLATING SLEEVES MOVE QUICKLY AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION: DO NOT OPERATE THE ENGINE IN REVERSE THRUST WITH THE FAN AND CORE COWL DOORS OPEN. IF THE DOORS ARE OPEN, DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE AND THE DOORS CAN OCCUR.
1. Reason for the Job
Use this procedure to cycle the Thrust Reverser System with Engine Running.
Do 10 cycles if you have to bleed the Thrust Reverser hydraulic System.

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure the wind direction and velocity are appropriate to do this test (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-910-804).
   (2) Start the engine (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-822) or (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-823).
     (a) Let the engine stabilize at idle for 5 minutes.

A. Do a thrust reverser cycling test
ACTION
RESULT
1.Set the thrust reverser control lever of the engine 1(2) to the reverse idle position
On the upper ECAM display unit:

The amber REV indication comes into view in the N1 indication of the engine 1(2) during the deployment of the sleeves. The REV indication changes to green when the sleeves are deployed.
2.Set the thrust reverser control lever of the engine 1(2) to the forward idle position.
On the upper ECAM display unit:

The REV indication in the N1 indication of the engine 1(2) changes to amber during the stowage of the sleeves. The REV indication goes out of view when the thrust reverser are stowed and locked.

A. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
   (1) Shutdown the engine (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-814).
   (2) Check on Ground Scanning Report that there is no fault messages relative to Thrust reverser system
     (a) Get access to the SYSTEM REPORT/TEST/ENG page (Ref. AMM TASK 31-32-00-860-012).
     (b) Troubleshoot as necessary.
